I'm sorry to admit this has been on my TBR shelf for over a year. When I read the description of the book, it was intriguing and seemed like a cool concept. I started a year ago and couldn't get into it, so I left it sitting in my kindle. I picked it up again and I read about 1/4, skimmed another 1/3, and gave up. Just not my cup of tea.

Maya's life is hard. Her relationships are tricky and she just found her best friend with the boy she was crushing on. That night, everything changes when in a dream-like state she sees a notebook and pen... and discovers that this pad can change her life. Every item she puts on her list comes true! Almost like a genie's lamp. But beware, just like all wishes, what you write might not be exactly what you get!

Anyway... I didn't connect with this story at all. Again, loved the concept, but it got weird and I couldn't invest the time.

Thank you NetGalley and Second Dharma books for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The book's premise was really awesome- Maya writes things down in a list, and then it happens! I liked this fast paced read. And am looking forward to reading more from this author! The mind is a crazy and magical thing sometimes.

I found this book very confusing. It came across as kind of preachy while still not making much sense. I was pretty much lost all the way through without much idea what was going on but at least it was quite short.
It was an interesting idea and I wanted to know what was going to happen so I continued with the book. But though something is explained at the end, I was still confused about most of it.

I would recommend this book for Family Life classes in secondary school ad psychology classes in college. Otherwise, it is an adult story, due to some delicate issues contained within.

Actually, I really enjoyed this quick read. It was extremely thought-provoking and touched on some fragile issues. Maya is almost 17 years old and lives with her two older brothers and parents. Since her father had a heart attack he spends most of the day in bed.. Their mother comes across as a mean, lazy shrew who has taken over the reigns in the family. The children are closer to each other than they are to their parents.

Maya chooses "experiences " she wants to go through finding out that interpretation is key in life's processes. Being a science person, I still did not find this to be completely unbelievable. Your conscious mind is not all that your psyche is made up of. Many of the "nice" experiences Maya wants to have are interpreted completely different than Maya expects.

A quick, rather poignant, read.

Many Thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.
