Maybe it would have helped to read the frist book in the series, maybe it would not have since this seems to be a standalone. But i just did not like the characters at all, bland and boring...and the writing felt a little all over the place, trying to be sexy, trying to be funny, trying to be as if we read it how the characters thought... Nothing really worked, sadly.

Solid 3.5 stars. Very cute story with lovable characters! Melanie Summers always creates a lighthearted, fun read. This was no different. It was a little predictable, but overall a good story that made me want to see how it ended.

Good, not great. Emma was nice, but not anything hooking me in to caring about her too much. The story line felt a bit similar and overdone in chick lit.

Chuckle....Clearly Melanie Summers is very salty with George R.R. Martin for his inability or unwillingness to finish Fire and Ice series. Giiirl...I hear ya...Feel the same way.

I ended up DNFing this book. I don’t know if it was the timing or what, but I just couldn’t get into it.

Whisked Away is my first Melanie Summers read but I definitely adored her style. This book was about Pierce, a famous fantasy author, a la Game of Thrones fame, who escaped to an island for his series’ epic conclusion. There he meets Emma, who is new to playing the role of head chef in her family’s island getaway.

This book is such a fun enemies-to-lovers romance and I definitely went crazy over the banter. They have their sweet moments, too, and I especially love when Emma was helping Pierce write his novel.

Perhaps it was my mood that time, or the author just writes so good, that I read this so quick and time just flew by. Everything was just so charming. I fell in love not only with the two leads, but with everyone in the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. Very reminiscent of Sophie Kinsella or Helen Hoang, perhaps. Will definitely check out the other two books of the series!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book received through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Whisked Away is a romance full of recognisable clichés; there is the funny sarcastic main character, the arrogant love interest and an abundance of secondary characters ranging from hilarious to helpful or mean. Their relationship is pretty straight-forward: Emma is a young chef who works at her family's Caribbean resort, while Pierce is the author of a popular saga suffering from writer's block. During his time in the island, sparks fly between them.

The summer vibe, with its culinary undertones was great, I wish we would have gotten more of that. The cooking part specially was what made this book stand out for me, since the romance plot was quite unoriginal. However, although I was expecting something fluffy and funny, this was too much fluffy for me at some points.

If you are a fan of summer romances with a little drama, this will be an enjoyable read.

I finally read this book and it was wonderful. It had humour, charm and of course, a wonderful love story. If you want a cute romcom and a light read, this is the book for you. I love Pierce's and Emma's chemistry and their opposites attract was spot on. Highly recommended!

A fun easy read with colourful characters and mouthwatering food. I read this as a standalone and it referred back to the previous book so I was kept up to speed.

this was a cute funny romance book, I will pick up some other books by this author and see what I think
This was a great book with good characters and a cute couple and I laugh at somethings that happened in the story.

This is the second book in the Paradise Bay comedy series. I had to read this first one before I could start whisked away. After completing both these books, I can say that this has been a modern, funny and romantic read. I did not expect this book to be filled with humor, but I cannot deny that I enjoyed this read.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing me with this eARC in exchange for this honest review.

Emma has just graduated from culinary school and is excited be working as a chef at her family resort in The Caribbean. What she isn’t expecting is to be the personal cook for Pierce Davenport, a famous author with writers block.

This is the second in the series, and I haven’t read the first. However I don’t feel this hindered my enjoyment.

This was a fun romance. I didn’t like it enough to read more from this author.

I didn’t realize it was the second in a series when I started it. However, that was not an issue.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

I was so surprised at how much I loved The Honeymooner, so I couldn’t wait for this second installment in the Paradise Bay series! I loved the characters, the comedy, and the romance! I loved the characters of Emma and Pierce, and watching them fall in love. I also enjoyed seeing familiar characters again from the first book. I would definitely recommend this book, and this series! Thank you so much to NetGalley for my copy and the opportunity to offer a review.

BOOK REVIEW⠀
BOOK: Whisked Away
AUTHOR: Melanie Summers
@mj_summers_author

I apologize to everyone involved, this one got away from me. I was supposed to review it before but then I got bogged down with other blog tours and whatnot...blah blah blah. It’s no excuse. BUT maybe I am a bit of a pleasure delayer. Because this book was so enjoyable. It is the second in the series, and while that is usually frustrating to me to start in the middle, in this case it was no problem. Can’t wait to go back and read the others in this series.

This book is funny, and in a totally unexpected way. The characters make you fall in love and the connections between them are totally believable. I fully believe that this author will be on my “Must Read All” list!!!!

Synopsis (from Goodreads):
At twenty-seven years old, Emma Banks has big plans for her life. After graduating from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, she's ready to take her place as head chef at one of her family’s resort restaurants. But upon arrival at Paradise Bay, she’s shuffled off to the resort’s new private island getaway, where she’ll be stuck catering to the rich and shameless. Her first assignment is to serve Pierce Davenport, an infuriatingly arrogant writer with a palate that’s about as adventurous as a plain boiled potato.

I received this book for review purposes from NetGalley. ⠀

A fun, cute read with a sweet romance.

This book was such an unexpected surprise for me. I went in for a fun romantic comedy, and it delivered, but it was more as well. I didn't expect the sense of humor beyond the obvious, the attention to detail up to the chapter titles and the fantastic graphics, making the story feel real. All together, it made this book into an experience I truly enjoyed and I am definitely keeping this author on my radar from now on.

Emma has just finished culinary school and heads back to the Caribbean to work as a chef at her family resort but winds up assigned to cook for Pierce Davenport, a properly stubborn but incredibly famous author who's suffering major writers block. They both don't lead with their best selves but a hungry iguana forces them to put their first impressions aside. She needs him to put in a good word for the resort (and not sue them) and he needs help typing after the iguana fiasco), so they agree to help each other out and do anything but fall in love with each other.

I tell you what, I absolutely loved this. I've been reading a LOT of contemporary romance lately, but I really enjoyed this one. We all know how the contemporary romance trope works: they meet, fall in love, get in a fight, make up, the end. Yes, this follows that same story line, but there's just so much effort put into every stage that it doesn't feel at all rushed and THANK YOU so much for that. It's the one thing I just can never get over. Usually it's build up for ages and the fight is 10 pages before the end and they're magically back together, you get a half-hearted epilogue if you're lucky. Melanie Summers built a relationship here for us, got me so invested in it, my heart broke when it just wasn't going to work, things were looking up and I still had 35% of the book to go, things were unexpected, we were dealing with people being realistic about a long-distance relationship, and it ended with a happy sigh with good closure - no rush, just a perfect contemporary romance story.
