Maybe it would have helped to read the frist book in the series, maybe it would not have since this seems to be a standalone. But i just did not like the characters at all, bland and boring...and the writing felt a little all over the place, trying to be sexy, trying to be funny, trying to be as if we read it how the characters thought... Nothing really worked, sadly.

Solid 3.5 stars. Very cute story with lovable characters! Melanie Summers always creates a lighthearted, fun read. This was no different. It was a little predictable, but overall a good story that made me want to see how it ended.

Good, not great. Emma was nice, but not anything hooking me in to caring about her too much. The story line felt a bit similar and overdone in chick lit.

Chuckle....Clearly Melanie Summers is very salty with George R.R. Martin for his inability or unwillingness to finish Fire and Ice series. Giiirl...I hear ya...Feel the same way.

I ended up DNFing this book. I don’t know if it was the timing or what, but I just couldn’t get into it.

Whisked Away is my first Melanie Summers read but I definitely adored her style. This book was about Pierce, a famous fantasy author, a la Game of Thrones fame, who escaped to an island for his series’ epic conclusion. There he meets Emma, who is new to playing the role of head chef in her family’s island getaway.

This book is such a fun enemies-to-lovers romance and I definitely went crazy over the banter. They have their sweet moments, too, and I especially love when Emma was helping Pierce write his novel.

Perhaps it was my mood that time, or the author just writes so good, that I read this so quick and time just flew by. Everything was just so charming. I fell in love not only with the two leads, but with everyone in the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. Very reminiscent of Sophie Kinsella or Helen Hoang, perhaps. Will definitely check out the other two books of the series!

I finally read this book and it was wonderful. It had humour, charm and of course, a wonderful love story. If you want a cute romcom and a light read, this is the book for you. I love Pierce's and Emma's chemistry and their opposites attract was spot on. Highly recommended!

A fun easy read with colourful characters and mouthwatering food. I read this as a standalone and it referred back to the previous book so I was kept up to speed.

This is the second book in the Paradise Bay comedy series. I had to read this first one before I could start whisked away. After completing both these books, I can say that this has been a modern, funny and romantic read. I did not expect this book to be filled with humor, but I cannot deny that I enjoyed this read.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing me with this eARC in exchange for this honest review.

Emma has just graduated from culinary school and is excited be working as a chef at her family resort in The Caribbean. What she isn’t expecting is to be the personal cook for Pierce Davenport, a famous author with writers block.

This is the second in the series, and I haven’t read the first. However I don’t feel this hindered my enjoyment.

This was a fun romance. I didn’t like it enough to read more from this author.

I didn’t realize it was the second in a series when I started it. However, that was not an issue.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

BOOK REVIEW⠀
BOOK: Whisked Away
AUTHOR: Melanie Summers

I apologize to everyone involved, this one got away from me. I was supposed to review it before but then I got bogged down with other blog tours and whatnot...blah blah blah. It’s no excuse. BUT maybe I am a bit of a pleasure delayer. Because this book was so enjoyable. It is the second in the series, and while that is usually frustrating to me to start in the middle, in this case it was no problem. Can’t wait to go back and read the others in this series.

This book is funny, and in a totally unexpected way. The characters make you fall in love and the connections between them are totally believable. I fully believe that this author will be on my “Must Read All” list!!!!

Synopsis (from Goodreads):
At twenty-seven years old, Emma Banks has big plans for her life. After graduating from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, she's ready to take her place as head chef at one of her family’s resort restaurants. But upon arrival at Paradise Bay, she’s shuffled off to the resort’s new private island getaway, where she’ll be stuck catering to the rich and shameless. Her first assignment is to serve Pierce Davenport, an infuriatingly arrogant writer with a palate that’s about as adventurous as a plain boiled potato.

I received this book for review purposes from NetGalley. ⠀

A fun, cute read with a sweet romance.

This book was such an unexpected surprise for me. I went in for a fun romantic comedy, and it delivered, but it was more as well. I didn't expect the sense of humor beyond the obvious, the attention to detail up to the chapter titles and the fantastic graphics, making the story feel real. All together, it made this book into an experience I truly enjoyed and I am definitely keeping this author on my radar from now on.

Emma has just finished culinary school and heads back to the Caribbean to work as a chef at her family resort but winds up assigned to cook for Pierce Davenport, a properly stubborn but incredibly famous author who's suffering major writers block. They both don't lead with their best selves but a hungry iguana forces them to put their first impressions aside. She needs him to put in a good word for the resort (and not sue them) and he needs help typing after the iguana fiasco), so they agree to help each other out and do anything but fall in love with each other.

I tell you what, I absolutely loved this. I've been reading a LOT of contemporary romance lately, but I really enjoyed this one. We all know how the contemporary romance trope works: they meet, fall in love, get in a fight, make up, the end. Yes, this follows that same story line, but there's just so much effort put into every stage that it doesn't feel at all rushed and THANK YOU so much for that. It's the one thing I just can never get over. Usually it's build up for ages and the fight is 10 pages before the end and they're magically back together, you get a half-hearted epilogue if you're lucky. Melanie Summers built a relationship here for us, got me so invested in it, my heart broke when it just wasn't going to work, things were looking up and I still had 35% of the book to go, things were unexpected, we were dealing with people being realistic about a long-distance relationship, and it ended with a happy sigh with good closure - no rush, just a perfect contemporary romance story.

This book was such a delight! I loved the characters, the writing and it was so funny! I couldn't put it down and ended up finishing it in one sitting. It was the perfect follow up to the Honneymooner.

Whisked Away is the second book in Melanie Summers trilogy, A Paradise Bay Romantic Comedy. I received this ARC from Netgalley, which I initially requested purely based on the cover and description. But was not disappointed, it was so cute!

Pierce Davenport wrote one of the biggest fantasy series of all time ... well almost. He finished the first 3 books, and has taken the last two years writing the fourth and he has gotten no where. Under extreme deadlines from his publishers, editors and a TV Network, Pierce heads to Eden Island, the new private island at Paradise Bay to finish (actually start) the fourth novel in the Clash of Crowns series.

Emma has just finished with culinary school and is full of ambition as she heads home to the Benavente Islands and back to her family. She cannot wait to see which one of the six restaurants at Paradise Bay her brother Harrison is going to hand over to her to run. Emma is also excited that she can finally contribute to help the family business. When she arrives home, Emma is quickly disappointed. Not only does she come home to no welcome home party but also to be told she will not be running a kitchen, but is going to be the private chef on Eden Island.

Pierce is the first guest, a VIP, on the island and there is a lot of pressure to make sure his stay is perfect. Emma must set aside what she feels she is able to do in a five star restaurant, and instead live on a houseboat and cook for one. But one thing leads to another and Pierce is left needing Emma to help him like he has never needed anyone else before ... and not only for work. But Emma is known to run from things when they get hard.

Will Pierce finish the Clash of the Crowns series in time? Will Emma stay at Paradise Bay and help her family? Or will she run after not getting the job she feels she is entitled to? Will both of them be able to come to a truce and help each other?

“I’m not a runner. I did run, but only because I was forced to choose between two things to run from. So it shouldn’t count because I ran from the thing I wanted in order to stay where I’m needed.”

I really enjoyed reading Whisked Away all about Emma and Pierce. I loved their story and banter, and how they each provided exactly what they other needed (even though they didn’t know it). I found myself wishing that the Clash of Crowns was a real series, it was almost like another character throughout the book! If you missed my review of The Honeymooner, see my previous post, or goodreads. I cannot wait to dive into the 3rd to finish out this trilogy.
