Brilliant historical novel that enlightened me on events I wasn't quite so familiar with given that I didn't grow up in England. A fantastic collection of characters with their lives entwined with tragic events. Great debut novel for the author, I'll happily read more from O'Brien.

Received this from Net Gallery than you! Never heard of this time in History and the story it told wanting better for all! The characters you will fall in love you and never flrget. Very much research went into this book to you where you believe you were right there when all the story is told. You will enjoy this story the way it It's written and these women will stick with you after you are finished reading.Enjoy!!,,🙈🙉🙊

I enjoyed the dialogue, characters, and story line (albeit it started off a little slow for me, it did pick up steam and kept me engaged thereafter). Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to review this book. I enjoyed learning about a piece of history I know very little about.

This novel drew me in right from the start with a beautifully realised cast of characters who set the scene perfectly for the tragic events at the heart of the story. I wouldn't normally choose historical fiction but I'm so glad I read this - Nancy Kay and her family and friends will stay with me for a long time.
