I just feel as if I ran a marathon. I love entering the unpredictable world of Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood. There is nothing so simple that Becky can't make wildly disastrous yet ultimately wonderful. She is the quirky friend we all wish we could have. Be prepared for a whirlwind adventure from the very first page.
Becky's mother is asking her to host her first Christmas. Of course Becky always veers from her original ideas and they snowball until her planned event turns into a free for all. Becky has a tremendous heart and in her attempt to please everyone for the holidays from her best friend Suze to her vegan non commercial sister, poor Becky is caught in a mass of holiday mishaps.
If I could pick a favorite Shopaholics book this would be it, hands down. This story had me bursting out laughing and at times crying. For goodness sake Ms. Kinsella, you had me laughing and crying at the same time! The crying was the good kind. Becky has truly evolved into an even more special person than in the past. You have to look beyond her commercial impulses to find a genuinely lovely and huge hearted woman that despite her sometimes flakey behaviors is really quite wise.
I loved the family dynamics and Luke and Becky appear closer than ever. There is a wonderful plot that is interspersed with numerous side shows that explode like fireworks.
If you are looking for that special holiday novel that makes you feel alive and eager to embrace the season please, please, please grab a copy of this brilliant delight.
The most gripping and tender moment of the story was literally the last line. No spoilers here, you will have to trust me that this book will be perfect and leave you with a gigantic smile on your face.

Sophie Kinsella returns to the world of everyone's favorite shopaholic with a comedic novel that is both entertaining and insightful. Fans who were disappointed with the last few books in this series need not fear, Christmas Shopaholic returns to the series' roots with a new and original story that reads like the original beloved trilogy. Although technically a holiday novel, Beck'y antics can be enjoyed year round. This reviewer was delighted to devour it in July! Fans of Mary Kay Andrews, Mary Jayne Baker, and Jane Green will enjoy diving into this frantic and funny fiction.

I was fortunate to receive a free ARC of this book from Netgalley. The above thoughts, insights, or recommendations are my own meek musings.

Love, Love, Loved this book! I have always been a fan of the Shopaholic series, but previous book didn't hold my attention. Christmas Shopaholic definitely reads like the first few books in the series. I loved Becky preparing for the perfect Christmas and her funny misinterpretations of things made me laugh, while still feeling in the holiday spirit. Great book!

This series has had some hits and misses overall, but I’ve still enjoyed every Becky Bloomwood story thanks to Sophie Kinsella’s humor and obvious affection for this character. Becky’s relentless optimism, offset by her undeniable faults, makes any story better than it would be in the hands of a different protagonist and a less engaging author. This book was light and fun and had me excited about the holidays in the middle of summer!

I have been a long time reader of the Shopaholic series, and this one did not disappoint! Kinsella is a master at developing fun, quirky characters that you can't help but root for. These stories are always light, sweet and have a great feel-good conclusion. After a long hiatus from the Shopaholic books, it was so fun to jump back in with these characters and felt like you were meeting up with old friends.

For someone who hasn’t even read the other books in the series, I found this to be super fun and lighthearted. I wish it could have been a little more edgy or modern, but maybe that is something I shouldn’t expect with an ongoing series like this.

I received an advance reader copy by Netgalley, in exchange for my honest feedback. Christmas Shopaholic is a lighthearted, jolly good time. Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is up to her old tricks, getting into scrape after scrape in the pursuit of the most perfect Christmas ever. Along with the laugh out loud moments, there are quite a few tender moments as well. By far, my favorite Shopaholic book yet!

Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorites! Rebecca Bloomwood did not disappoint. I am an avid Shopaholic series reader and loved this addition to the series.

Best Shopaholic book yet! I am a huge Madeleine Wickham/Sophie Kinsella fan and read this book in a day. I was so happy to see the Brandons and the rest of the gang return in print. Four years is way too long to go between Shopaholic books. No spoilers but with the way the book ended, I hope it will not be another four years before the next Becky book comes out. I will be recommending this to everyone! Thank you for the advanced copy.

This was funny and yet so stressful to read at the same time. I think that is why so many people love Becky with her frentic pace. I enjoy the stories more than her bumbling. Sophie Kinsella is an excellent writer with a wry wit. This book was very good!

Readers of the past Shopaholic books will want to read this one. Our heroine, Becky, faces organizing Christmas for her friends and family, along with her usual shopaholic mishaps. Her shopping is updated a bit in this book, and she's into online shopping now.

This is a solid book in line with the previous novels in this series. However, I would have preferred a shorter book with a few less plot lines and new characters for a Christmas book. Nonetheless, it was good to check in with Shopaholic and see what she's up to these days.

This book. Lol. I see it and it makes me smile, roll my eyes, and giggle. It’s so silly. So “oh my goooosh”. So HALLMARK but you canNOT not smile when you read this!

I will say this...

-1-
I had a hard time in the beginning. It was ALL. ABOUT. SHOPPING. And I mean truly it was endless. I kinda thought about this becoming a DNF. Glad I didn’t stop! I feel like she could’ve taken out a bit of the beginning and went more into the story, the characters (she could’ve made her daughter a bigger part!)

-2-
I do want to note that I am giving this book a 4-star within its specific chick-lit genre.

For chick-lit readers, I would highly recommend. This is part of a long line of books in her “shopaholic” series Sophie Kinsella has created however it CAN be read as a stand-alone. It’s fun, quirky and has some truly valuable take-always about family, our perceptions of others (and ourselves, honestly) among the more obvious: the true meaning of Christmas.

Well done.

Long live Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood)!

Imagine my joy, when I received an email saying I was approved for a galley of her latest novel, Christmas Shopaholic, due to be published in October,2019. I could not read this one fast enough.

Becky finds out that her parents are not only moving away for some time to live in a “hipster” neighborhood, but they will not be hosting Christmas this year. It is time for Becky to do so! Becky’s half sister, Jess, is staying in her parent’s house while they are away, so she is invited as well. And you can’t have Christmas without Janice and her husband. Suze, of course, is also invited with her family. And Becky needs to buckle down and shop smart. Is that even possible with a shopaholic?

Planning for Christmas would be easy, except Becky suspects something is wrong with Jess’ marriage, her rock-God ex-boyfriend has appeared out of nowhere wanting to be friends with Becky again (but…why?), a fellow mom at school is struggling with her personal life where Becky wants to help, and Luke’s perfect present would be so easy to get, if she can just get admission to a men’s only club.

I loved reading this adventure. Becky’s world feels like home to me, and this time around I found myself laughing literally out loud. That wasn’t good for me, as I was sneakily reading it while I was supposed to be working because I couldn’t put it down. This is another classic Becky book that has made me feel festive in August. I cannot wait for Christmas this year, where I hope life will be like a Hallmark movie.

OK. Don't panic. Becky is back! I was so excited to get an advance copy of this book through NetGalley. It is wonderful! I cannot remember the last time a book made me laugh out loud so much. Just like you'd expect from a Sophie Kinsella book, this one will have you laughing hysterically one minute and tearing up the next. It is absolutely perfect!

I loved this installment of the Shopaholic series! I've read them all and this is probably one of my favorites. Becky is up to her usual antics and it is laugh-out-loud funny! The ending sets up for another novel in the series, so I hope Sophie Kinsella keeps writing!

When the humidity reaches 100% and the temps soar into the 90s, I want to imagine myself somewhere cooler. Much cooler. Someplace where it is Christmas.

Sophie Kinsella’s CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC is the perfect antidote, a Hallmark movie in book form. A cheerful, sparkling story of the disasters—and shopping—that ensue when Becky Brandon agrees to host the family holiday celebration.

It has been quite a while since I've read one of the Shopaholic books and it's safe for me to say that Becky has grown (somewhat). She still makes bad choices with her shopping, and now she is also making bad choices about how she appears to others. ( maybe she always has, but mainly I'm reading this as a 'standalone' instead of part of the series; it has been that long since I've read one of these)!

Becky may be flighty at times and worry too much about what others think of her, but she is a good mother, a warm person and a very caring friend daughter and sister.

She has a lot of cringe-worthy moments in this book, and at times the book seems to make little sense (for me it was the hamster scene). However, everything works out in the end.

I think one of the reasons I had some problems with this story-line is that I see too much of myself in Becky's character. I also shop for what I think I'll need in the future-store things away and then forget about them and do most of my shopping from the computer and get stuck with things that aren't quite right! Another problem I had was with her sister (half?step?) Jess, and her ridiculous (to me) demands on what is appropriate to spend your money on; after all, it's your cash and your business what you do with it.

A fun, funny, light and fast read that brings the spirit of Christmas to the fore.

When I was 19 living in my first apartment with no money my sister introduced me to the world of shopaholic and Becky Bloomwood. This was 2003 and I have been enamored ever since. From the intriguing way the book is written with letters to and from credit card companies and banks (I'm talking about you Derek Smeath) to the situations I felt like I have a best friend in Becky. I could relate to the situations and the stuffing of credit card bills and the rush one feels when one shops. Fast forward to several years and books later Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood and I have went through adulthood together. From marriage to babies there was always a new shopaholic book that related or resonated with me. I was missing Becky ever since the last book and our road trip adventure of sorts in Shopaholic to the Rescue. When I found out that Sophie Kinsella was writing a Christmas book with Becky I did cartwheels in excitement. (Well not really because this 35 year old would be sore for days after a cartwheel) Regardless you get my point. This book did not disappoint and I gobbled in up quickly. When this releases in hardback in October I know I will be reading it again because its the holiday time and lets be honest its Becky. There are no books like the shopaholic books and I hope they continue for a very long time.

You know how some retail stores start putting out Christmas decorations the second the 4th of July is over, even though we still have Thanksgiving and Halloween to get through? That's me with books set during Christmas time, I am itching to read them mid-July every year and I am always excited to read the first one to kick things off. Christmas Shopaholic was a great novel to kick off my Christmas reading because it's a familiar character so I can easily dive into Becky's world. This book was hilarious. The whole book was laugh out loud funny and although I am not one to re-read books usually (there are just too many good ones out there that I will never get around to if I do that) this is definitely one I could see myself re-reading in the future. I love all of the shenanigans that Becky gets into in this book, and I am hoping that we get more of her adventures from Sophie Kinsella in the future!
