If you think the holidays are crazy with your family, try being Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood)! Once again, Becky has found herself in a situation that she can't shop her way out of and it is wonderfully fun. This festive addition to the Shopaholic series is one you don't want to miss!

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Christmas Shopaholic is a superb novel especially resonating with all of us who have been put in the position of now holding your "mother's" place in the family tradition of hosting family affairs. Of course, she has numerous family obstacles, to overcome as the 'shopaholic' always does, making this a quirky and hilarious read, but one to which we can definitely relate.

I haven't read the Shopaholic series in sometime. I think the last book I read was Shopaholic and Baby and after I half lost interest, and half didn't realize there weren't any more titles to read. So I'm jumping in after a break. I loved the first book, and most of the others as well. The movie didn't do it justice, although Isla Fischer was pretty good as Becky Bloomwood. I read these books back when I was single and a bit of a shopaholic myself so I was worried now picking this up in the age of minimalism, as a mom of 3, how I would feel.

First off, I did love it. Becky Brandon née Bloomwood is now the mum of a preschool aged child, living in the quiet village of Letherby and working at the gift shop on the estate of her bff Suze. There's all mummy wars issues, women handling too much, and of course shopping. But Becky is at least trying to be a bit more conscious thanks to the influence of her vegan non-consuming sjw sister Jess, so that's something. I did for bit think all this shopping and crazy spending has gotten so old. I'm over it and it reads a bit irresponsible. But in the end that's Becky and it does make for some crazy plotting. I guess Luke is once again loaded. I thought he was down in his expenses for awhile when he branched off on his own but I guess he is once again back in the money.

It was slow to get into and to be honest I expected more Christmas feel to it in the first half. If you put Christmas in the title and have a holiday themed cover, you need to deliver the goods. The first half is just build up to that, and I understand they are British, so for us Americans, the "holidays" is now basically Labor Day through New Years. (Labor Day-Back to School-Fall Break-Halloween-(sorry Veterans)-Thanksgiving-Christmas-NYE) It would be a shopaholic holiday extravaganza. But this is England, so the first part of the book is cold weather and planning for the Nativity. I forgot how these books often build up - Becky's capers getting crazier and the strings all weaving together into the denouement, where everything pays off in a heartfelt way. We have that here. I just got a bit bored and anxious because there wasn't much holiday spirit in the first half.

The major storylines here are Becky is hosting Christmas herself for the first time, an old flame moves to town and he's a rock star, and Becky's dealings with a men's social club. The last of these is my favorite and I wish it had been more of the focus. The rock star bit, I realized too late, fits the same model as all the books with a side love interest for Becky and some catty woman rival as well. Ah well again, this is the Shopaholic series book 9, so if you're picking it up, this is what you want and Kinsella is delivering.

The book went from a 3 to a 4 to a 5 at the end. Bit slow to start, picked up and the craziness in full swing and I'm loving the ride and then the end where all of Becky's capers collide but we realize that she's all heart and that's what always saves her. It's surprising honestly that there wasn't already a Holiday Shopaholic since the plot pattern aligns so well with the genre. All in all, I'm glad Shopaholic is back and this is a fun new entry to the series which is a good read anytime, with a dash of Christmas Spirit.

Becky as a modern/online frugal shopper is so us - most women currently, and I totally related to her. I was all smiles when she makes her lists, on seeing her search history and her actual purchases of course where she scores amazing deals. Importance of creating awareness about eco-friendly lifestyle is so relevant in these times.

It’s a book with all the cuteness plus three important topics - happiness in little things with family, gender equality and eco-friendly lifestyle. It calls itself not a typical Christmas story but it does give beautiful Chistmas-sy feels. If you are a fan of this series, you wouldn’t want to miss this one. It ends up so nicely making the reader emotional and bursting with love for your loved ones. All of contribution from Luke and Minnie is absolutely beautiful as well.

Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Our favorite shopaholic is back! Since motherhood, Becky has become more cost conscience and is more *frugal* in her purchases. Constantly looking for a deal, especially with Christmas coming up, she has now mostly turned to internet shopping for "deals". For the first time ever, she is hosting Christmas for her family and friends. Follow along as Becky makes her Christmas preparations and actually sews a costume for the school play! The character we all know and love is still there below the surface, but she is more thoughtful and appreciative than ever before. This is such a fun holiday read! Thank you to NetGalley for the digital advanced copy in exchange for an honest review..

Thank you to Random House and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. It was so wonderful to spend some time with Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood again, and I flew through this book. I've read all of the other books in the series, so it was like being reunited with old friends. True to form, Becky found herself in lots of different scrapes and awkward situations, some of her own making, but some just because it seems that she attracts chaos! Having the story take place around Christmas added a really fun element, and I could definitely relate to some of the madness. Sophie Kinsella writes Becky as maddeningly, impulsively silly, yet she's also intelligent, and she has such a big heart! I so enjoy the relationship between her and Luke as well. I loved this book, and I'll read it again around Christmas!

When first seeing that there is another book to the Shopaholic series, I immediately request it and then am elated to received this ARC. But then I wonder...will it be the same? Will it grab me like all the other Shopaholic books? Thank God the answer is YES YES YES! Sophie Kinsella has done it again- bringing the delightful Becky Bloomwood to life and this time with a holiday spirit that I think a lot of us can relate to. There are plenty of LOL shopping moments throughout and it's so wonderful to see this character mature (now married with a child) but still be able to bring us to giggles with her antics! This is a must-read for anyone who has loved the previous Shopaholic books...its such a fabulous escape into Becky's world! Such a fun way to kick off the Christmas season! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love the Shopaholic books, and this one did not disappoint. Yes, they can be a bit predictable but I find them enjoyable just the same. A Christmas volume is just what the series needed, and I am looking forward to the next installment of Becky’s adventures!

Love, love, love! Christmas Shopaholic is classic Sophie Kinsella, and classic Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood). If you can't get enough of Becky's funny, well-intentioned but usually wrong-footed antics, this is a can't miss title. Fabulous!

A fun read in keeping with the author's previous books and styles.. Predictable but makes for a good easy going page turner for this genre.

Light and funny, this Shopaholic book will get you in the Christmas spirit and reunite you with an old friend. As we catch up with Becky, we see that while she has aged and matured in some regards (she’s happily married and has toned down the shopping), she hasn’t changed in other ways (she is still as feisty as ever, making for plenty of laughs and misadventures). When we check in with Becky, she is doing a little online shopping - trying to steal some awesome deals and driving Luke a little crazy in the process. She’s got a lot on her plate as she prepares for Christmas, and we’re taken along on all her funny adventures.

As always, Sophie Kinsella’s writing is great and makes the pages fly by. It’s easy to get into the story and you’ll have a smile on your face plenty of times along the way. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. It’s a funny book fans of the series will love reading in time for Christmas.

⭐️Book Review ⭐️
Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
4/5 Stars

As a love of all Kinsella’s shopaholic series, I knew this book would not disappoint me. I mean, this has to be the ultimate shoppers dream or nightmare at Christmas- right?!

Becky returns in classic form as she is thrown into hosting Christmas this year. Her parents have moved into a young, hipster area of London leaving their home in the capable hands of Becky’s sister Jess and her husband Tom. This brings the obvious chaos to longtime lovable neighbors Janice and her hubby.

Becky is on a tear trying to find perfect presents for all, creating the perfect Christmas for everyone and forgets to enjoy herself in the mix. There are the usual Becky and Suze mixups and even and old boyfriend mishap to spice up the storyline.

Not your typical Christmas story, but sure to make you laugh this holiday when you need it!

**Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review. **

I love Sophie Kinsella books especially the Shopaholic books and Becky Bloomwood is back all her old tricks, humor and heart!

Becky is still shopping way too much but now she is an online shopaholic! Becky is distracted by her online prizes and with the upcoming Christmas holiday she is supposed to host, it sets the stage for some funny moments, as Becky is completely overwhelmed. Becky is a lot like myself and friends I know. She shops to show how much she loves her family and friends.. Which is what makes me so drawn to it.

This novel, made me both laugh out loud and commiserate a bit. It is the perfect holiday read to unwind with a glass of hot cocoa or nice glass of wine, either way the Becky we have learned to know and love is at it again and this time she is at her best. The Holidays will never be the same. Ha!

I received an ARC from NetGalley; all opinions are my own.

This series never gets old and I have a feeling I need to do an entire re-read of the series because of how much I adore it! I am actually pretty sure that Confessions of a Shopaholic was my first "adult" read and what really got me interested in reading in general so, thank you Sophie Kinsella! If you are a fan of the series you won't want to miss this one! It's just as amazing as all the previous books!

Don’t panic. Don’t panic. Just go to Amazon and preorder this book right now and all will be well. When you think of it, it really is an investment because it will go up in price when it comes out and it’s always best to be ahead of the game (spoken in my best Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood voice).

After returning to England from the States, Becky is all grown up and is a wonderful mama (mum). She has a good job, working for her best friend, Suze and is living in a fab house in the village. Her marriage is solid and while Minnie hasn’t become a big sister yet, Becky is enjoying life. But the holidays are rolling around and this year, it’s Becky’s turn to host Christmas! In true Becky form, she gets herself into many scrapes and sticky situations and she always manages to surprise everyone along the way.

I feel I have grown up along with Becky over the years and I can honestly say this is the best installment yet. Maybe because we in similar phases of life and I can relate more to this Becky. Regardless, Sophie Kinsella truly delivers with Christmas Shopaholic. It will be so fun to read over the holidays in the middle of all the chaos, I mean fun.

Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella Release date October 21st 2019

Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood is back! And in all her fashionista splendar! Christmas is nearing and our favourite shopaholic is preparing for all of the festivities….
Out of nowhere and for the first time ever, it now falls on Becky’s shoulders to host a spectacular day including her parents, their best friends, her best friend and family and her sister and husband! Sounds easy right??? What could go wrong? Can she juggle the many expectations her guests have? Can she cater to each of their individual needs while trying to find her husband Luke the perfect gift? Can she do it all alone and on time? While finding the perfect decorations and the just the right outfit? All while dealing with the appearance of her ex boyfriend from cCollege?

Firstly, I am not going to lie, I’m a massive shopaholic fan! This book excited the hell out of me and it did not disappoint!! The shopaholic series is one of the best book series around. It’s quippy, fun and hilariously entertaining. She literally gets herself into the best situations and most of the time it’s of her own making! There is no other book like it. I find most of the chick lit, fluff reads, whatever you want to call them, tend to have the same general feel to them. The same over done protagonist. This author, for me, always brings a new adventure that, while keeping the heart of the shophalic books firmly in place, brings a whole new level of entertainment.

Becky ends up being saddled with hosting Christmas for the first time ever. Scared at first, she decides that the idea is perfect and sets about bringing the best Christmas festivities ever! While trying get all the food needed and delivered whilst catering to her vegan half sister, with everyone having different ideas on the food, on the stuffing, the entertainment, decorations and none of them managing their own expectations.
Becky runs into an old boyfriend, a musician, she’s flustered that maybe, she’s not hip anymore. Trying to juggle her responsibilities at her work, being the crafty mother that her daughters school teacher expects, while trying to prepare for the Christmas to end all Christmases the worse things happen….. Her husband Luke buys himself the very item Becky had planned to get him for Christmas. Now she’s under the gun to find the perfect present for the man she adores!

Luke Brandon is one of my favourite men in literature. Swoonsville. He is quietly tolerant of his quirky wife and loves her with such passion that I can’t help feeling a little jealous! He knows who she is and what she’s about and he adores her anyway. Her best friend Suze is a little more levelheaded but just as zany! I love everyone of the characters. I’m not a huge fan of Jess, her sister but I can see she is there to balance Becky out. She brings a certain simplicity to a woman who’s anything but simple!

Becky literally takes something innocent and blows it so far out of reality that you cannot help laughing at the absurdity of it. You can really feel her compassion and huge heart through every single page. When I finished reading the book I felt like I had just had the best day of my life with my best friend. It had me smiling, laughing out loud and shaking my head at the sillier moments.

The book was by far, for me, the best yet. I really hope that there are more Becky adventures to come as I’m so not ready to say goodbye. If you have never read the shopaholic series then what are you waiting for! You will wonder why you didn’t do it sooner and then you can come thank me with a big glass of gin and tonic…. hold the avocado :)

I give this book a 5 out of 5! Your heart will be at bursting point by the last page!

Awesome. I loved this book so much. My favorite Shopaholic book since Mini-Shopaholic (and possibly since Shopaholic Ties the Knot). I'm glad that Becky seems to have grown as a person, I love that her problems extend to things other than over-spending - but she's also true to who she is. She's passionate about things. She cares about people. Such a great, heart-warming story.
