This is Book 3 in the "Brute Force" Series and this time is about Illya and Emma Jane.
The book is full of action, an amazing romance and hot chemistry.
It has it all! I couldn't put it down. I was hooked since the very first page!
The plot is very well written and the romance between Illya and Emma Jane is well balanced with the danger and the action.
Great read!

This was a fast paced sexy read that had hints of suspense and a lot of lust. It felt like the actual storyline got overshadowed by all the sex scenes. There were so many characters coming and going that it was kind of hard to keep them all straight. The story itself didn’t feel all the way developed, nor did most of the characters. I was halfway through the book before I realized why Emma and her husband even separated and it wasn’t exactly clear why she needed “ Dragon” and the company he worked for, for their protection. Overall an ok read but I would typically want more story in a book I’m reading to go along with all the sexy scenes. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

DNF. It really pains me when this happens, especially since it is from an Author I am a huge fan of and getting the book through NetGalley to boot, but when a book feels like a chore instead of an escape than its time to quit. I was struggling right from the beginning and falling asleep in the middle of some action scenes is never a good sign, especially since I generally read way past my bedtime. The blurb sounded promising but once I started to read it felt to me as if another Author wrote this book. It started out with a confusing bang, since I had no idea who all the people were and the whole aspect of the safe house seemed strange. I just could not get into the book and I felt the interactions of the main characters lacked real heat and the dialog was very repetitive and inappropriate to the situation. You are in danger but wait there is always time for a make-out session? The whole thing just didn't do it for me, clearly I am in the minority, but I still count Lora Leigh as a favorite Author I will just have to be more careful in the future about my picks.

Full review to be published online in late September.
LETHAL NIGHTS is the third book in Lora Leigh’s latest series, ‘Brute Force’; which is a spin-off of an earlier series ‘Elite Ops’. Emma Jane Preston is presented with the opportunity to make her home a safe house for a security firm; one who will pay her mortgage off so she won't lose her home. She is no one's fool though, and has some ground rules. This is how she comes to meet Ilya. He is dark and gorgeous, and she knows he has a past. This doesn't stop her from thinking about him though. Emma Jane soon becomes the light in Ilya's darkness. Even though he has stayed away from her for the most part, she is never far from his mind.
Both their lives change dramatically when four men enter Emma Jane's home in an attempt to kill her. After alerting her family, she automatically calls Ilya. No one can figure out why this would happen to Emma Jane but Ilya is not leaving her until she is safe, even if it means blowing his cover and case.
LETHAL NIGHTS is an intriguing read, but not a standalone. There is too much going on that requires knowledge of the overall series arc and characters. Still, it’s a good read; a treat for Lora Leigh fans.

4.5 Something Bigger Than Us Stars

Humans in this world are not alone...and if we take this idea...we can follow this to past generations which become legends...All cultures have families which go back in time and have had an impact on the world. Lora Leigh has created a world which follows this concept and Lethal Nights (Brute Force #3) lives in it. The feeling of more than just a love story is powerful and I was caught up in it from the start.
I had not read the first two books and had no problem with being fully aware of what was this tale.
On the surface of this story, it could be a simple tale of a divorcee who is in the throes of fighting to keep her home from foreclosure. The ex used her name to take out all sorts of loans, etc. putting everything in jeopardy. A man who works with a security company and decides to help by making the home a "safe house". The use allows the woman to keep the home and she is able to move on with her life.
But this is a Lora Leigh story and naturally, there is so much more.
The man who assists has a past which has a lineage which is dark, lethal and powerful. It is also mystical in how intense it is...which guides him to know deep in his heart, this woman is his heart...but by being so, is a danger to her.
The woman is strong and capable. She has had to overcome the realization of her marriage and what a mistake it was. She has a family which loves and supports her. She has risen out of the pain from her past marriage. Now she has met this mysterious man and she is drawn to him, she feels the need he has for her and meets it head-on.
When her home is attacked, the man is back to make sure nothing will ever happen again...But there is more to this tale and it is all-consuming. The need and chemistry between both of them is intense. It is more than sexual... it is life-affirming. There is a tie between them which cannot be denied.
All of this intensity is surrounded by a story which includes past characters from the other books and has a bit of thiller/mystery to hold interest. The sexy times are steamy, hot and full-on which Lora Leigh fans know are her forte.
If you like to read an all-encompassing story which will give you a bit of mystical along with the love story, then buckle up because this will capture you.

This is book three, but the first I've read in the series. Not sure if that made a difference, but perhaps it did. Had a little trouble keeping the Russian links and politics straight, and some of the names were a little hard for me too. Minor issues overall though, and still enjoyed the basic romance story between Ilya (not sure how to pronounce this) and Emma Jane. Figured out early who the crazy killer was, but still couldn't figure out why? Need more details please. Also, why the people around Emma Jane were so quick to work with the crazy Russian is not told, although they do end up dead. Good suspense though, and would recommend.

DNF
I could not finish this. Dragon seems more like a stalker than someone you'd want a relationship with. He's beyond obsessed with Emma Jane and his actions in the first few chapters is creepy. I couldn't get on board with it enough to keep reading to see what happened.

Lethal Nights - Brute Force #3
I did enjoy this story. As usual, Lora Leigh does an amazing job piecing together a story and making come to life. However, I had a few problems with some of the content. I struggled with the fact I couldn’t decipher if this was a Brute Force book or a new dragon paranormal.

I love lora leigh. This book was interesting. I loved the ideas about the tattoos. Ilya and Emma Jane were perfect for each other. He really needed her in his life and vice versa.

***I received an Advanced Readers copy through Netgalley. ***
This is not my first try in this series. I have read the first book only in the series. And the one thing I can definitely say is that it is better… I did get a sense this might not be the first book in the series half way through the book because I did not check or read goodreads when I got the request for the review. I went straight to reading.
One of the advantages of not checking before reading was that I do believe this book can do good as a standalone. But for readers who are wants better in-depth understanding I suggest reading from the first book.
I loved this 3rd book in the series, Lethal Nights, better than the 1st book I read. Ilya and Emma Jane are not just attracted to each other at the get go but slowly forms a an almost magical relationship. They not just understood each other but communicated better with each other than family or friends. They were aware of each other so unlike some of the other book heroes and heroines.
The plot and the “bad guy” or “villain”, was a bit apparent from the very early on. But somehow the suspense or surety of it was little too stretched which became a little annoying after a while.
This has a erotic romance feel to it but somehow it did not feel like the prevalent genre in the book for me. I am not exactly sure if it is a paranormal or a fantasy. But it has tinges of magic in it here and there.
There is one question in my mind at the end of the book. Is Illya and his family shifters or something else?! They are special, that I got. But how special?
Illya and Emma Jane are both have pasts. Painful pasts that not just threaten to disrupt their lives but might just end up with blood. Maybe theirs.

Good read, this author has a tried and true formula of reluctant male and vulnerable heroine, this story follows this formula and yet again it works.

I have read a few books by this author and she always writes an excellent story and this one was no different!!
I thought it was well planned out and I loved the attention to detail throughout the book.
The plot was addictive and I couldn't put it down, it had me completely hooked!! The character were well developed too and worked really well with the plot, they were perfectly developed for the storyline!
It is 5 stars from me for this one, I really enjoyed it and thought it was an excellent and well written story - very highly recommended!!

This is an author that I do not even bother reading the back of the book, and just buy it. From the first page to the last, it’s a sensual assault between Ilya, the dragon and Emma Jane, his dragon mate. Ilya, had a devastating upbringing, because of this he knows he needs to keep his distance from his mate. When his past comes into play and puts her in danger, his protective instincts come in to play. And he sets out to catch the ones wishing her harm. We also get to see some past characters that come in and help these two as well.

Oh man, Dragon is my new favorite in this series! Emma may seem like she is meek and timid but she has a backbone of steel! She is able to put the Dragon in his place and this story is a web of a man fighting his past and his future. I love how this author is able to make the most alpha and seemingly cold man into a fiery passionated and protective mate. This is a story of "who done it", the heat that Lora Leigh always brings, and visits from beloved characters from books past. You won't want to put it down!

I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review. Another great one by this author as she continues the Brute Force series with Ilya’s story. He is the son of a dragon (no this is not a paranormal romance) from his gypsy heritage and the large dragon tattooed on his face. It’s been foretold that the dragon knows when it meets his mate and while he was interested in Emma Jane at first sight he didn’t think it was love, an emotion that hard been beat out of him as a child, literally. Their chemistry was undeniable but she was undergoing a nasty divorce and the timing was all wrong but Emma Jane was in trouble nothing could stand in the way of the dragon. This story had lots of action (in and out of the bedroom), humor, and emotion. I couldn’t decide if I needed a fan more or a tissue but it was a great addition to the series. I also love how she brings back familiar characters. The steamy story is a must read. 5 stars and I can’t wait for book four

Ilya is a dragon and not just a regular member of the dragon clan but the dragon heir to all the clans. When he meets human Emma Jane he realizes that she is his mate. To keep her safe he can't claim her forever but for now she's his. When someone tries to kill her multiple times, Ilya realizes he will protect her at all costs. This next book in the Brute Force series has lots of action and sex. Enjoyable paranormal romance.

A mystery within a mystery and a little about the dragon-clans. A romance with intrigue. What's not to like? This one is a little racy in places, but the overall storyline is good.
Ilya is the heir apparent to the Dragonovich family, but he's acted more as an enforcer and guardian for hire. He's tried to live down his past, but now in order to have the future he wants, he has to confront that past.

I have a new favorite author. This book is absoultely swoon worthy! Ilya, the Dragon, .....all's I can say is I want one! Emma Jane is the perfect heroine. She's not a shrinking violet that's for sure. She holds up and proves herself to be the perfect woman for the Dragon. The author has a wonderful way with words. She creates vibrant images for the reader and wrongs every drop if of emotion she can from her characters. I can not wait to get my hands on the rest of her work.

Sexy Russian with complicated past falls for simple divorcee
The Hero, Ilya Dragonavich, is a bit hard to quantify easily. He is basically a Mafia hitman who has been adopted into the family he is currently in, but his real family is much more complicated. Either way, he is sexy as all get out and he sees this simple woman jus in the process of going through a bad divorce and he decides to help her out so she doesn’t lose her home to her deadbeat ex.
When Ilya gets to know Emma Jane Preston a bit better while negotiating the purchase of her house in order to save it for her by turning it in to a safe house for his boss, he determines that she is the woman for him. Though he doesn’t act on it at the time. One year later assassins try to kill her in her house so he has to come in and protect her and try to determine who wants her dead and why.
The story is fast paced, steamy and very good. It has all of the benchmarks of a great Lora Leigh book, such as suspense, drama, romance, humor, enjoyable supporting characters and more. I really liked the entire book. This was the first book in this series that I have read and I didactic need to read the first two in order to understand or get involved in the story. However, I did like this enough to now want to go back and read the others.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I can't get enough of Lora Leigh's books - this one is just as good as the last. Good solid story building. ENjoyed!
