This is the third installment in the Brute Force series. This is a fantastic romantic suspense book. I have read the other books in this series and this story continues that story line wonderfully. I don’t feel you need to have read the previous stories for this one to be enjoyable. The characters are well developed and the pace of the story is fast. Lora Leigh writes sexy hot scenes and this book was no exception. It is also action packed and suspenseful. This is a very enjoyable story.

Good romantic suspense with hints of paranormal, intentional or not. Big Russian hottie with tattoos protecting his damsel in distress. There is action and plenty of steamy scenes. I was a bit confused in the beginning but that seems to be the theme for me and this series. It's an enjoyable story with danger, suspense, and heat.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!

Lethal Nights is book 3 in the series. While it certainly would have been helpful to read the first two, I didn't feel that I missed too much and was still able to follow the story easily.

Miss Leigh is truly a talented author. I will be reading more by her!

I'm a big fan of Lora Leigh and Lethal Nights did not disappoint. The chemistry between Emma and Ilya was magnetic and the suspense and action were cutting edge. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of her work.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin Press for providing me a copy of this book.

Love the passion between Emma Jane and Ilya. Love the suspense and danger. Love that this felt like a shifter romance even though it’s not. There’s an otherworldly element to the story; maybe the Romani/Gypsy scenarios, which added an interesting element to the story. Ilya is involved in a very dangerous world, which Emma Jane becomes embroiled in as well. Someone has sent some top assassins after Emma Jane, so Ilya comes to protect her and figure out who is out to get her. They had a moment awhile back, but it didn’t go very far because Emma Jane wanted to wait till her divorce is finalized. I didn’t like that Ilya didn’t remain true to Emma Jane during the separation, but technically they weren’t even together. I didn’t let that affect my rating; still I don’t like it. Both don’t think they are good enough for the other and a whole lot of denial is going on, but they are drawn to each other. Some really great chemistry and some hot, sweet moments. I do wish Ilya wouldn’t have thought of her as too weak to handle his lifestyle; she is a bit of a damsel, but she’s tough too and has some good sass. He is wonderfully protective of her though and you can tell how much he cares. I would’ve done 5 stars, but around the 70% mark the story slowed too much and the climax didn’t excite me as much as I wanted. There was some great build up throughout the story and the climax was fine, but I wanted a bit more. Still really enjoyed the story though. I’m really enjoying this whole series.

This author has the ability when I come across her novels to call me in. In this one she uses the agency that provides security and the characters that will head this one. Dragon and Emma take you on this ride as the battle between forces goes on around them. Having caught the first two this one still stands well on its own. Romance and suspense at its finest you get swept away as it unfolds. It is fast so you keep pace so not to miss anything. This also has sprinkles of humor too that balances it all out. One that takes you away for a minute giving the best.

Another fantastic book by this author! This story contains suspense, drama, intrigue and romance. It is a page-turner and had me captivated from the beginning. Ilya (The Dragon) works at Brute Force and has an offer for Emma Jane who is going through a divorce and is about to lose her house. Emma Jane is not scared of Ilya even though he is gigantic, dark and brooding which comes as a shock to him because he always intimidates everyone especially women. The chemistry between these two is off the charts but that sends Ilya running but after the attack he can’t stay away. He doesn’t trust anyone with her safety, but can he protect her? I can’t wait for this series to continue!!

This author knows how to draw you into a relationship and hold your heart captive. Ilya and Emma Jane were pretty darn perfect and I loved their story.

When Ilya helps Emma Jane keep her home from her ex-husband, he knows that she is his. But his life is filled with violence and blood that he was born into and he cannot taint her innocence with it. Of course, the story doesn’t end there. Months later, someone is out to harm Emma Jane and there is only one person she can trust to keep her safe.

I loved both of these characters. Emma Jane definitely carried an aura of innocence about her, but she wasn’t weak. She was fiery and outspoken and knew how to stand up for herself. She stole Ilya’s heart from the beginning when she claimed his dragon tattoo was flirting with her and I loved that she was so lighthearted with a man who walked in darkness.

”He was filling parts of her that weren’t physical, branding himself on to her soul and ensuring when he left her he left her forever longing for him.”

Ilya was extremely protective and he was determined to find out who was out to get his woman. I loved his strength and determination but also the fact that her tears shredded him and that he would lay his life down for her. So much alpha goodness!

”She was so deep inside his soul he couldn’t imagine being without her now. This, this moment in time, was life, it was living.
…She warmed the parts of his soul that had never been warmed.”

While there is a bit of mystery here, this is more about Emma Jane and Ilya and their journey into love. The mystery brought them together, but the struggle is how to stay together when it’s all said and done. There was a bit of emotional push and pull but through it all you just know you’re going to get your happy ever after. You’re just not sure how that’s going to look and what steps it will take to be achieved.

With some action and a lot of great characters, this was an engaging read. I love when there is a bit of humor towards the hero and his “feelings” and I greedily gobbled those bits and pieces up. With a beautiful epilogue to wrap it all up, I closed this book feeling completely fulfilled with another great read.

This was my first book by this author and I'm kicking myself for having waited so long. This books great!! It was steamy, action packed and very entertaining. I was hooked from the very beginning and found it very hard to put down.

This is a steamy romance that is full of mystery, action, and suspense. I loved Ilya and Emma and became completely invested in their story. This author knows how to write complex alpha male characters. There is so much happening in this story and it draws you in from the beginning and has a perfect ending. I am a huge fan of the Brute Force series and can't wait for more.

This is book 3 in the Brute Force series and I would absolutely read the previous books before reading this one or you may be confused as the back story about Ilya. In this one we finally get Ilya Dragonovich and Emma Jane Preston's story!! Ilya (Dragon) has recruited Emma Jane to be a provider of a safe house for their company. What he doesn't realize when he does so though is that now she is in the cross hairs of his enemies. Emma Jane agreed to the contract with Brute Force in order to keep her home after her marriage ended. But she never expected to be so attracted to Dragon or to end up needing his protection the way she does. But neither truly understands how far someone will go in order to get what they desire.

I absolutely loved this one!! I have wanted Ilya's story for so long and this in no way disappointed! I finally get the full story about his Dragon and just what happened to him that makes him the person he is now. Emma Jane is this down to earth, stand up woman who isn't afraid to fight for what she wants and needs. And she is absolutely perfect for Ilya!!! I don't want to say too much and give things away, but this one is definitely going on my reread list!

I don’t typically read and enjoy Mafia style books because they are too brutal for my tastes. But this didn’t have those elements and I really enjoyed it from start to finish. I haven’t read all the books in the series and that may be a good idea for some because I’m sure there are back stories that would make this story easier to follow.

Ilya and Emma Jane have a short encounter in their past that brings them back together in this story. The plot includes an ex husband who won’t go away and Ilya’s family history that keeps coming up in his life. Add an alpha male and security force job to the mix and you have an intriguing tale of romance, some violence, and emotional scenes that create a well written book.

Have loved this author for years, then didn’t read much of her and now I’m back for good!

An Advanced Reading Copy was provided to me by the publisher thru NetGalley.

Lethal Nights is the first book in the series that I have read, and while I could tell there had probably been some prior interactions between the characters, I was easily able to read it as a standalone.

Emma Jane is in the process of getting divorced from a man who seems to be a complete jerk. He throws constant obstacles at her in an attempt to make her life miserable, but she is determined to keep moving forward. I really loved her strength and her attitude; she was positive, sweet and caring, but she could also be a fireball and was no one's doormat.

Ilya spent months fighting his attraction to Emma Jane, knowing that his family history and his duty could spell a death sentence for her. When an attempt is made on her life, he knows that he has brought danger to her doorstep despite his best efforts and he goes into full on alpha mode. He tries to keep his past a secret from her but once they reach the point of no return and he knows that he has to tell her everything, all he can do is hope that she can find a way to live with it - and him.

Lethal Nights was a great suspenseful read with plenty of heat and a dose of psychotic villian/ess thrown in. I enjoyed the slightly supernatural aspect of the mystical dragon's blood that was woven throughout the story and Ilya's past as well. I will be checking out the rest of the books in this series!

Holy hotness, Batman. Lora Leigh really knows how to bring the heat in Lethal Nights.

Emma is a safe-house owner for the security team, Brute Force.

Ilya is an agent with Brute Force that has left Emma alone because she is so fresh and good and he is dark and shady.

But when Emma is targeted by someone from Ilya’s past, Ilya will pull out all the stops to protect her.

I enjoyed Lethal Nights. It definitely puts the steam in steamy romance. The base story was extremely entertaining with random extremely steamy scenes breaking up the flow. Overall, hot as Hades and a strong plot to boot.

I received this ARC copy of Lethal Nights from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This is the third book in the Brute Force series but it is the first one that I've read and it still worked well as a standalone read. It is a very steamy, romantic suspense involving international conspirators in an action packed story.

Emma Jane Preston senses someone is in her home and takes refuge in her bath. That's when the intruders break into her bedroom and shoot it up. Unharmed but traumatised by the experience, this feisty lady is determined not to endanger anyone else. That's when Ilya Dragonovich turns up, adamant that he's going to be her protection. They met a  year ago when he helped negotiate for her home to be used as a safe house for his company. The attraction between them was great but not acted upon. Now he's back. Will he be able to resist her this time? Just who is out to kill her - and why?

This is a fast paced, action packed story that is an enthralling read. It has great characters, plenty of intrigue, murder, mystery, romance and suspense. The relationships in very different families are explored and the relationship between Emma and Ilya hints at paranormal elements and I'd love to see his dragon tattoo - it sounds amazing! The story has some very steamy scenes (too many for my tastes) but the overall plot is well developed and thoroughly enjoyable. If you enjoy steamy romantic suspense, stories packed with threats and danger as well as romance, look no further!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book without obligation via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and enjoying doing so.

LETHAL NIGHTS by Lora Leigh is book 3 in the Brute Force Series. This is the story of Emma Jane Presto and Ilya Dragonovich. I have read the previous books which helped me to enjoy this one but you could make it a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Ilya is known as Dragon who has had a harsh childhood that even his mother was a part of to hurt him continuously. Ilya has learned to not get close to some especially to women but when he meets Emma Jane she is someone that is hard to keep his guard of feelings up with. Emma Jane was going through a divorce from a really bad husband and Ilya offered to help. Then sometime later Emma Jane became to be in danger and he stepped forward to help. Ilya knows that he shouldn't want Emma Jane because she is a good person that most everyone cares for where he feels evil..not a good person. But sometimes you can't walk away from something you want so bad.
Enjoyed their story.

I must admit this was my first book by Lora Leigh and I truly enjoyed this somewhat untraditional gypsy heir/ thriller /romance story. Although in the beginning I was quite irritated with all the names and all the by-characters and got few times lost with who is who.
Anyway the attraction between the main characters was touchingly feelable and definitely steamy...you know that kind like fanning myself.
I loved the word building and their usage but I felt like in the end the story was cut a little bit short, therefore 3,5*

Once again I've started a series at the latest book instead of the first. Fortunately this particular series is only three books in so it's won't be too hard to catch up. Yes, I know, I do this all the time and I just can't help myself.

This book is centered on Ilya Dragonovich 'The Dragon' and Emma Jane Preston. They have an undeniable attraction to each other, even though she is a soft-hearted and forgiving person and he is far more than just a bad image.

Emma has just been through a nasty divorce, her ex-husband doesn't like to be denied acting more like a spoiled child than a man.

However breaking into Emma's house which she almost lost because of him goes way over the line. The only reason it's still hers is Ilya has designated it a safe house for Brute Force Security. As such the security has been upgraded and that's how he's caught. Ilya is not happy with that turn of events.

One of my favorite things in this book is Ilya's dragon tattoo. It covers scars on his face and to Emma it has a personality all it's own. I giggled more than once over her observations and Ilya's response to them.

There is a lot of tension, action and suspense as Ilya makes decisions to protect Emma and there's plenty of heat as well.

I definitely need to catch up on this series before there's another book.

Lethal Nights

A Brute Force Novel

Lora Leigh

St. Martin’s Press, 24 Sep 2019

288 pages, Kindle edition

Romantic Thriller

Provided by NetGalley

⭐⭐⭐⭐

The cover tells me nothing except that someone likes purple and that it’s about a dominant man and a woman and a group that’s likely militant called Brute Force. The purple probably indicates royalty in this case. All of which is true to some degree in this case, but I’m not enamored of the cover.

The story is typical of this particular author who writes steamy stuff. This is an awakening story. Dominant bloodied male awakens the innocent female who proves to be his ultimate mate. Ilya Dragonovich is the son of the Dragon and has led a rough and dark life. It started with the fact that his mother had his father murdered because he didn’t love her and wanted to kill the baby son as well. It didn’t get any better from there. The dragon tattoo on his face hides scars given to him by his family members. The many lethal talents he has mastered he learned from family members who raised him. Now he faces a woman who stirs him deeper and more truly than any other has, in ways no other ever has. The dragon has found his mate, but to claim her he will have to claim his true position in the clan.

For Emma Jane, she knows that Ilya will make her feel more than she has ever felt before, but he will leave. Why would such a man stay with a woman such as she? If she can only resist him, she may just survive this. But already she knows no other man will ever make her feel what this man makes her feel with just a kiss. And that dragon tattoo on his face keeps flirting with her!

If you like steam with your thrill, this is a great book for you. I personally found it wound up a bit quickly at the end. But I have missed the first two books in this series and probably should go back and read them, even though this could stand on its own. Recommended.
