First, I have to say that I was definitely intrigued by the description of this book. I've read and liked other books by this author, and this seemed a little darker than her earlier ones. I really wanted to love this book, but it ended up letting me down a bit. Overall I enjoyed the characters, especially the contrast of the dark, brooding, alpha male who is a "bad" guy with a heart and the sweet, innocent girl with a spine of steel. There was lots of anticipation and longing between them, along with some steamy scenes, and a touch of dragon magic. I loved the dragon tattoo and it's "personality" - it was both funny and really sweet.

I was intrigued by the look into the Romany mafia, for lack of a better description, but this is where I felt the book could have been better - I kinda wanted a little more background and details about the inner workings of this world and maybe more to the story than just an alpha protecting his mate just because of who he is. This possibly could be my own fault, since I haven't read the first two books in the series - there probably is more of the background information I'm looking for in those books. But I really wanted more on Ilya's background and who he was - I feel like there was a lot of alpha and not a whole lot of what makes him who he is - other than his flirty dragon tattoo, that is.

3 Stars, it wasn't bad...but I don't know if I'll be reading more of the series.

It’s been awhile since I read a Lora Leigh book. This is the book 3 of Brute Force series, but I think it’s connected to other series(?). There were definitely a lot of characters and the storyline seems big enough for a spin-of series about the Dragon family.

The premise of Lethal Nights was intriguing, the idea of a modern couple brought together by destiny and mystery. But…it landed flat, I didn’t feel a connection with the couple or in the end even cared who was the bad guy, although it was obvious.

My favorite part of the book was the dragon face tattoo with it’s own personality that only Emma Jane could see. That was sweet, funny and charming.

I didn’t like the book. It sounded interesting and started that way but the story didn’t move much in the first half, neither the romance or the mystery. There was too much going on , I couldn’t keep who is related to whom and how straight.
In the end when the brother turns up completely took me out of the story and end as how is that not an international incident.

I'm just gonna say it: I didn't like it.
I didn't feel a connection to the characters it was like looking in through a window but never being a part of the actual story. The author's words didn't create an image of the location or the characters. Also the storyline was lacking a red thread. It was a bit confusing at times an it didn't create enough tension for me to be exited. It all seemed very stiff. Also the whole mafia thing was a bit too romanticized and at times confusing in the sense of "Where did that character come from now?" or "Wait! Who is this again?" I would not recommend this but maybe it just wasn't for me.

Emma Jane has struggled with the end of her marriage and found herself attracted to Ilya. Then he was gone before temptation got the best of her. When her life is at risk, he returns to keep her safe. Their attraction and affection grows. Both characters develop as the book moves along. I enjoyed the back story and the present in this fast moving drama. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4 Star Review Lethal Nights (Brute Force #3) by Lora Leigh
This is Ilya Dragonovich and Emma Jane Preston’s story. There was a great deal of chemistry between Ilya and Emma and it was scorchingly hot. Lethal Nights had action, suspense, danger and intrigue which kept me interested.
I had a hard time engaging with the characters as much as I would have liked, but that is more me, than them. I did like how focused and determined Ilya was to protect Emma and I admired Emma’s strength and how she has moved on from her past.
There were secrets, lies and surprises and Ms. Leigh wove an interesting story. Will Ilya be able to keep Emma safe or will it all be in vain?

I have to say, I love Lora Leigh’s Brute Force novels. I think I’ve read them all so far.

I want my own dragon! How can I go about getting one?

Ilya Dragonovich is hot! All of the Brute Force guys are of you like an alpha male.

This story was so well written, I was on an emotional rollercoaster and even had to put it down a couple of times as I was feeling things one shouldn’t be feeling while at work 😉.

Can be read as a stand alone, but so much better if you read the others beforehand.

This is the third book in the Brute Force series that can be read as a stand-alone.

We first met Ilya Dragonovich in the previous books and he was an intriguing character, sometimes called “Dragon” for the tattoo that adorns his face and his family history. He’s a Romanian employed by the Russian Ivan Resnova and their business is not of the legitimate kind. A year ago Ilya met a woman who intrigued him like no other, a woman he just knew was his soulmate and though he couldn’t have her he helped make her life easier and then walked away. Now someone wants her dead, a professional team of assassins tried to kill her and if not for listening to her instincts she would have been. Who could possibly want this woman dead? Considering Ilya’s background he suspects that it’s about him. Did he make a mistake and one of his enemies learned of her existence and importance to him? That would have placed an instant death sentence on her but no matter where the fault lies he must resolve this.

During the dissolution of her unhappy marriage from a man who tried hard to ruin her in their divorce Emma Jane Preston met the mesmerizing Ilya, a man she was strongly attracted to but the time wasn’t right for anything with him or anyone else at that stage in her life. With a mutually beneficial business arrangement, Ilya helped save her family home from foreclosure and then he was gone. When someone tries to kill her she calls Ilya, the dangerous man with the incredible facial tattoo made her feel safe. But he’s not a man she thinks would or could ever stay around. Can she allow herself to give in to him knowing that devastating heartbreak will inevitably follow?

I am considering this book a Do Not Finish @ 72% in and not rating it due to the inclusion of atypical sexual activity that this reader found gross. The characters and the plot excluding the sex scenes were interesting enough but what is the point of reading a book when you have to skip all the sex scenes, you miss seeing how the connection between the couple develops. Anal sex with a finger occurred at 43% in, hoping it was a singular event this reader continued but when it happened again I was too disgusted to continue any further. I read and enjoyed the first two books in this series with no such issues. There should be a warning in the blurb when atypical sexual acts are included.

Lethal Nights can be read as a stand alone novel in your are interested in sex filled book with very little story.

The author has the ability to write sex sense, and dark seedy characters but the book is about two characters having sex in between bombs, bullets, and people dying.

The author created a back story for the Dragon that is twisted in a myth and history that helps keeps the readers interested if you can get pasted the sex scene.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher St. Martin Press for the advance copy of Lore Leigh Lethal Nights.

This was awesome! Full of action, adventure and lots of sexy times. I love Ilya and Emma Jane! Emma Jane isn't a strong female lead in the normal sense but she's strong in her own way. I love the story and how it brings things together along with characters from previous books. I loved it and Ilya's Dragon tattoos. So perf e t! I hope there will be more to this series. I really enjoyed it so far.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

This book is part of a series but it's not necessary to read in order but maybe for characterization. I didn't read the first two books in this series but it may have helped to get to know all the characters.

Ilya Dragonovich helps rescue Emma Jane Preston from house foreclosure, by using her home as a safe house. Now he wants more than to help her, when he realizes she might be in danger because she is his mate. Emma Jane has no problem putting Ilya in his place and admiring his beautiful dragon tattoo.

What did I like? No one does steamy like Lora Leigh. The chemistry between these two is so nuclear! I enjoyed the banter between Ilya and how he really fought his feelings for Emma Jane. Love a great HEA story.

Would I buy this book? Yes, if you liked her Breeds series you will love this one!

Thoughts for the author? Five huge stars of entertainment! I will definitely read the first two!

Ilya Dragonovich is familiar with living on the dark side. As a safe-house owner for security agency Brute Force, Dragon straddles the battle lines between good and evil

Emma Jane Preston needs help after her marriage crumbles and she attempts to get back to a normal, happy life. But now she needs the kind of protection that only someone like Dragon can provide after her life is threatened. The chemistry between Emma Jane and Dragon will burn off the pages. Dragon has found his mate. When the evil from his past threatens his mate all bets are off for how far Dragon will go to protect his mate.

I used to read a lot of Lora Leigh and after reading this book I don’t know why I ever stopped. This book was really hard to put down. The story was unique and the chemistry between Emma Jane and Ilya was scorching. I loved all of the characters and the little glimpses into their lives made me want to go back and read her other books just to learn more about them. If you’re into steamy romance with hot, possessive heroes, this is the book for you.

Lethal Nights is the third book in the 'Brute Force' series. I found this book to be suspenseful, fast paced, with the right amount of drama and steamy sexy scenes. I liked the heroine, Emma Jane, I felt she is a strong character with an enjoyable personality. The hero was an interesting character, Ilya aka Dragon. I'm not one for face tattoos but, I found the description of Ilya's to be interesting and possibly even sexy. The attraction between these characters was instant. Which had to be put on hold due to the fax that Emma Jane was married... to a “donkey” and getting a divorce but to her she was still married until the papers were finalized. Then four years later Emma Jane finds herself, without giving too much away, in a danger. This brings Ilya back to her door to protect her.

I do enjoy reading books by author Lora Leigh and Lethal Nights did not disappoint. I enjoyed the playful side of Emma Jane, especially when it came to the dragon tattoo on Ilya's face and the protective side they both had for each other. I am questioning the clan Ilya is a part of, the dragon clan, it sounded a bit paranormal to me. Good thing I love paranormal!

I received an ARC of this book for my honest/own review.
This is a great book, really and enjoyable read. It was fast paced and a quick read. I love how the book ties into a previous favorite series by this author, Fascinating characters, great plot and makes me want to dive into the rest of the books.

Lora Leigh writes another amazing novel. In Lethal Nights she brought together a man who is tormented by his past and a woman who is emotionally strong enough to love him despite his past. I loved the interaction between Ilya and Emma Jane. The passion and development of their relationship, developing in the midst of finding who wants Emma Jane dead, was perfect. Even though the bad guy was a little obvious midway through the book, I still enjoyed the final reveal. If this is your first Lora Leigh book you can’t go wrong. If you are already a fan, add this to your keep and reread collection.

This novel was classic Lora Leigh. It was great return to action and hot, steamy romance. Loved it! Can’t wait for the next Brute Force!

I enjoyed this story of Ilya and Emma Jane more than I thought that I would. Even though Ilya had a horrific start in life, he still had a touch of humanity, especially when it involved Emma Jane. Again, my only complaint, if you would call it that, is the hazy feeling of danger that the reading audience is unaware of but seems like we’re supposed to. It’s different than the suspense of what’s going on with Emma Jane. This wouldn’t keep me from reading any future books from Lora Leigh and I do look forward to reading, hopefully Alexi’s story.

Lethal Nights is a smoking hot contemporary, bad boy romance. Lora Leigh is the queen of super sexy romances and bad boys that will make your heart pound. Ilya Dragonovich, the Dragon, is the dragon heir set to inherit leadership of his family's large clan of Romanian gypsies. Blood thirsty and cold, Illya's childhood has shaped him into the dangerous man he is but little Emma Jane holds his dark heart. Emma was burned badly in her divorce and knows the Dragon will only lead to heartache. When danger knocks on her doorstep, Ilya cannot keep his hands to himself any longer and the Dragon comes to claim his mate. This story will leave you with heart palpitations and fanning yourself from the heat. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

I am a fan of romance and Lora Leigh. I prefer my romance stories to have a strong story line with romance intertwined. There was plenty of romance here but not much story. The story starts off with Emma Jane because of her failed marriage and is about to lose her house. For some reason, she needs a sophisticated security system. The reason is not really explained and she has a ton of over-protective males all around her, her father, brother, childhood friend who is also conveniently the sheriff and now a security expert. The security expert, Ilya, helps her save her house by getting her to sign an agreement to allow his "clients" to use it when requested (which never happens). He falls for her hard in that first negotiation. She is also interested but turns him away because her divorce isn't final. Soon after, smeone overrides her security system and tries to kill her but she escapes. Ilya returns, posing as her lover and this begins a long plodding story with no explanation for the violence until the latter part of the book. She gets a new improved security system without anyone even asking her if she wants it. Protective males and bodyguards are all around her, almost suffocating her and she doesn't really protest much. After more than half of the book, it turns out that the Russian oligarchic families, Romanian gangs, the head of the Russian Federation and a lot of other toughs are involved. This story was quite lame and it plodded along with the author doling out tidbits of information at an excruciatingly slow pace. The angst between Ilya and Emma Jane was just too much, who was going to leave who first, etc. Overall, this book was just too vague, the plot was too thin and it took too long to get any significant information about the motivation for all the attacks. I wanted to but just couldn't enjoy this book. I'm still a fan of Lora Leigh but this one just didn't do it for me. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
