Waking and sensing a presence in her home, Emma Jane barely escapes being murdered. Ilya, a Brute Force security expert, has been haunted by the intense kiss that he shared with Emma Jane a year ago. When Ilya hears of an attempt on Emma Jane's life, he immediately goes to her protection. Even though he feels like Emma Jane is his mate, Ilya believes that his past will keep him from a permanent relationship with any woman. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. There is plenty of suspense in this book as well as steam. Even though, I prefer a less steamy read, I skimmed the steamy parts and enjoyed the rest of the book. Emma Jane's family has always tried to protect her, but she is a very strong and resilient woman. I like the background of Ilya's Romanian family and his dragon tattoo. If you don't mind steam and occasional foul language, this is an interesting suspenseful book.

After I finished the second book of this series, I said I’m done with LL’s non-Breed books but when this was offered to me for review, I reluctantly accepted, thinking there would be improvements in the writing and editing. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

I liked the dragon tattoo parts, some of the more appropriately-placed sex scenes, Emma Jane’s spirit, and, hmm, did I say Ilya’s dragon face tattoo already?

Most of it is a thin, convoluted plot, far too many named characters, repetitive and contradictory dialogues, overused storyline, and weak chemistry. I especially disliked the yucking on erotic romance.

Lethal Nights by Lora Leigh
Brute Force #3

I enjoyed the beginning of this book in which Ilya and Emma Jane met, kissed and said goodbye...for awhile BUT when the rest of the book started up I felt totally lost. I couldn’t figure out who the bad guys were or why Ilya’s family was so strange sounding or who shot up Emma Jane’s house or why she was getting a divorce or who so many of the people mentioned were. I then found out this is a spin-off (maybe) of another series with at least seven books in it and though I did skim the book have to say that it just didn’t make sense to me or keep my interest. I am guessing that if you had read the previous series (not sure what it was) it might be a wonderful addition because you would know the backstory and many of the characters. Or, if I had even read the first two books in this series it might have been okay. I had wanted to read a book by this author and might try one of her stand alone books in the future but this one was not for me. The reason I wrote this review is to let others who might be interested in reading it know that for me, it was not a standalone book.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Absolutely Phenomenal .
I volunteered to read and review through Netgallery an advanced readers copy of Lethal Nights .
This story is intriguing and interesting from the start . The story is full of action packed suspense from the beginning till the end . I must say the intense attraction between Ilya ( The Dragon ) and Emma Jane is smoking hot . Emma Jane is in the middle of a divorce about to lose her house because of her husband .she is approached by Ilya with an offer to save her home of course the attraction is there Emma Jane is hesitant after her bad marriage and Ilya knows having her would place her in terrible danger . Ilya's'life is dark and Emma Jane is the light to his dark . The characters are fantastic .
This is a pulse pounding read . I was pulled right in and enjoyed every word . A well written story . The slow build of Emma Jane and Ilya's coming together was just perfect . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy . Hats off to Lora Leigh .

I didn't like this book so much, it seemed like Lora Leigh thought about making some sort of spin off from the letal series towards a paranormal/dragon romance, but in the end decided otherwise, plus the president of the Russia Confederation going around the U.S. was even more unbelievable than the "dragon thing". It seems to me she lost her magic touch in this novel....

I received a review copy of Lethal Nights via Netgalley and was really excited about it. I have read the other two books in the Brute Force series and I have been looking forward to reading Ilya's story. I recommend reading Dagger's Edge first because that is where Ilya's character is first introduced. If you have been reading Lora Leigh's books as long as I have (almost 20 years) you know that characters from other series will often be mentioned and Lethal Nights takes place in the town where Nik from Renegade (Elite Ops) lives with his wife and daughter. Ilya also has ties to Russia as Ivan and Nik do and his past is coming back with a vengeance and the woman that owns his heart is in the crosshairs! Emma Jane Preston has been living a quiet life in Maryland. She is Nik's receptionist for his security business and is married to his cousin. Ever since she met Ilya Dragonovich a year ago, she has been fascinated by him but never thought that she would see him again. As much as Ilya tried to keep the outside world from knowing how often he thought about Emma, trouble still found her and it is time for him to publicly claim the woman that privately claimed his heart. Now I bet that this sounds like a really good story right? I had such high hopes because I am such a fan but sadly Lethal Nights is an average story for me at best. There are a lot of gaps in the action and storyline so I just couldn't connect with the characters very well. There's plenty of steam but I need more that that. I am hoping that when the paperback comes out that the story has been tweaked a bit because this version was lacking and not up to the standards of previous books. If you haven't read Lora Leigh's romantic suspense books before I recommend going back as far as you can find them because the Elite Ops series as well as the Tempting Seals are all excellent books. I also recommend reading this one because it was good, it just wasn't great. I will still be picking up a paperback to add to my collection.

Lora Leigh delivers, once again, a terrific novel! Lethal Nights is suspenseful, sensual and exhilarating story. There's a lot of action to keep your blood running, but is also filled with secrets. surprises, a little bit of humor and a whole lot of romance while a legend unfold before our eyes. I devoured this book. I couldn't stop reading! And can't wait to read what's next in this fantastic world the author has created.

Dragon finds its mate in this intense slow-developing story. When Ilya meets Emma he knows that she is special for him but although he says that to nobody somehow Emma life is in danger and Ilya will do everything to protect his mate. A great story between two well developed strong character. Emma is great as a person and she sees the good that is in Ilya. Ilya doesn't fell worth of Emma but love has its way. I loved reading this book, another great one in the series.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

Ilya is a dangerous man with dangerous enemies. He wants Emma Jane with his every breath but knows that being in her life will put her in danger. When danger comes to her door, there is nothing that will keep him away.

Emma Jane seems like a complete innocent but she is intelligent and more than a match for Ilya. She will do whatever is needed to keep him. She is no pushover.

Liked both characters very much.

Dragon has a tattoo of- wait for it- a dragon- wait for it- on his face. Yep, he's the hero with the dragon tattoo. He's also hot. Emma Jane is his polar opposite so when they first meet when he buys her home to make it into a safe house, they ignore the attraction, sort of. Then, however, she's threatened and he rides in to protect and save her, which is when thinks heat up. He's the more interesting character due to his back story. You know how this is going to turn out but that's ok - think of it as a candy treat. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is the third in a series but it's fine as a standalone.

I loved the series that led to this and most books by Lora Leigh. This one fell short.

How does an obviously strong female who knows their worth change so much in the presence of a man? I didn't like it. I wasn't a fan of the whole dragon mate thing either.

That aside, like any Lora Leigh book it had steamy moments and heart wrenching ones! Definently worth reading if you've read other books in the series!

Lora Leigh is one of those authors I just can’t quit. I feel like I’ve outgrown her, but it just doesn’t seem to matter. I keep coming back for more. In Lethal Nights, we’re taken back to the Brute Force series. This is the third book in the series and my first of the series. That’s fairly uncommon as I don’t generally read out of order. I didn’t feel very lost while I was reading, so it’s safe to say that you can jump in anywhere in the series.

Brute Force has made a deal with Emma Jane Preston’s in regard to using her house as safe house when they are in need of one. This is a common practice for Brute Force though they don’t generally go looking for people. The situation is different for Ilya Dragonovich who is drawn to Emma Jane from the beginning. He knows that the time isn’t right for Emma Jane as she just started divorce proceedings. He leaves her with a kiss, promising that he will be back for her.

It’s a year later and Emma Jane is in trouble. She’s becoming the target of multiple assassins and no one can figure out why. The trail seems to be non-existent which worries Ilya. Coming back into Emma Jane’s life was what he planned all along, but not because she was in danger.

Emma Jane knows that she will fall for the man with the dragon tattoo on his face. His dragon seems alive to her, which she knows is impossible. What she doesn’t know is that it is alive, but only to the person that is meant for the man.

It took me a long time to read this book. It was very slow moving at first. When it did get going, it really got going. I liked the meat of the story as well as how it concluded. While I don’t generally read very many romantic suspenses anymore, I really ended up liking this one.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Lethal Nights was an interesting story, with interesting characters. That I did enjoy, even though for me it was a little hard to get into. But there's no denying it did have a lovely mixture of darkness, suspense and mystery. Not to mention when the sex occurred, it was super hot. Still, I did struggle even having read the two previous stories, and for some reason it took a while to really hook me in. There were also parts I couldn't quite connect with. Including the mystical elements surrounding Ilya's tattoo. Plus, I felt this story was struggling to place itself as either paranormal romance or romantic suspense. Yet even so, this was a well written tale and there was a lot in there I genuinely liked, but it just didn't come together enough to really engage me. And whilst it's probably not my favourite of the series its by no means the worst.

This book had great main characters, great plot and dangers, a touch of fantasy and then for me it fell down the rabbit hole of TOO much sex.. And it was pretty explicit sex at that. I wish the author hadn't done so much of that. If I had known I probably wouldn't have picked this book up.
Which is a shame because if you push the other aside, it did have a pretty good story. Yes, I know the story information did mention that Dragon was a deeply seductive man but still...

There are a good amount of interesting secondary people in the story which helped some.
There was a good ending of the book with justice being served from an unexpected source.
Now, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how many starts to give it while doing ratings.

Lethal Nights was an awesome read !

With this third book in her exciting Brute Force series Lora Leigh has once again delivered a great story that immediately had me hooked from the first page and left me craving the next book already. This book gave me all the feels ! One minute I wanted to laugh at Emma Jane with her teasing of Ilya about his dragon tattoo, but then I felt like crying at everything Ilya had endured, and even wanting to hurt the person responsible for all of the bad things in both of their pasts. The most important feeling in this gamut of emotion was how happy I felt as these two amazing characters slowly found the way to their much deserved happy ending together.

This book was intense ..... to say the least. Ilya and Emma Jane were perfect together so it was easy to get lost in the magic of their romance, the steamy sexiness, and the suspenseful action. Lora Leigh is the queen of romantic suspense. She always delivers an outstanding story, that is perfectly written with loads of action, and amazing characters who somehow find their way into my heart. I just know that I'm going to love each book before I turn the first page.

As usual, I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the next one from Lora Leigh !

This is my favorite of this series. Emma Jane is just getting out of a bad marriage and Ilya walks into her life. He knows he can't start something with her because she isn't divorced yet. He is there to help her and he knows he has to leave her alone. Not only because her divorce isn't final yet, but because he has an enemy that would love to get back at him through Emma Jane. He really tries to stay away, but can't. Someone has targeted Emma Jane and he needs to find out if it is connected to him or does Emma Jane have an enemy? Could it be her ex-husband? She is his mate and if she is killed, he will not survive.

Lethal Nights is the third book in the Brute Force series by Lora Leigh. A steamy suspenseful romance that is sure to fog up your glasses and leave you wanting more. I was drawn in from the beginning and loved every minute of this fast-paced smoking hot romance. I had to turn up the ac and pour a glass of iced tea to help me get through this one!

This was a very well written romantic suspense book. I have not read the other books in this series but will now put them on my list because I liked this one so well. The characters were well defined and enjoyable. The plot was realistic and the romance was good.

In order for Emma Jane to keep her family home after her divorce, she agrees to become a safe house for Brute Force. But she didn’t realize that she would meet her destiny in Ilya, the Russian Dragon.

Wow ... this book is full of steam! It’s also full of mystery with lots of twists and turns. I liked that Emma Jane wasn’t afraid of Ilya and would tell him off at the blink of an eye. I was just a little confused with some of the characters towards the end ... it’s probably because I didn’t read the first two books, but I was able to follow the story.

LETHAL NIGHTS by Lora Leigh is a well-written romantic suspense novel that is the third book in the Brute Force series. The story takes place in Hagerstown, Maryland and the main characters are Ilya Nicholas Dragonovich and Emma Jane Preston.

Ilya works for the security agency Brute Force and arranges agreements for safe-houses. Danger always seems to be near him. Emma Jane is going through a divorce and needs money in order to retain her childhood home. A year later when Emma Jane needs protection Ilya steps in to help.

I was immediately pulled into the story and had no problem getting to know the characters. There is plenty of intrigue and suspense as well as some very steamy scenes. However, these don’t start immediately so the reader gets to know the characters and the dangerous situation first.

The author has done a great job of character development for Emma Jane and Ilya. I like that Emma Jane is a strong female character that is self-confident, complex, courageous and independent. Ilya’s character is intelligent, caring, brave and has a strong inclination for protectiveness as well as having a dark side.

The story line brings in several themes including divorce, domestic abuse, child abuse, family traditions as well as family relations, love and trust.

While this is the first book I have read by Lora Leigh, I look forward to reading the other books in the series. Additionally, I have two other paperbacks by her on my to-be-read bookshelf that are not in this series. I definitely need to move those up in my reading schedule.

Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press, Lora Leigh and Net Galley for a digital ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
