It is such a basic book with basic tips. Sadly, no new information I get from this book even tho the title say otherwise.

‘People First’ by Mike Nutley isn’t an awful read. It’s more like the guy who appears to be a solid 10/10 and then you get to talk to him and realise he is super boring and lacks any kind of personality or substance. Still attractive but you’re left feeling disappointed.

I agree with everything said in this book BUT I was promised “The only way to build a business that no one has told you yet”. No one has told me any of this yet because they haven’t needed to. It’s all common sense and I already knew everything in this book.

I probably only have myself to blame for thinking there would be some amazing “secret” about being self employed and building my own business that I didn’t already know but I’m still disappointed to not of read anything that made me excited or gave me a new idea or excitement. I feel the title is misleading.

I want to say I would recommend this to new business starters but I’ve only been self employed for 7 months and don’t feel like I learnt anything new so unless you are pretty much clueless, I wouldn’t recommend.

The format of writing here is simple and makes this an easy read for anyone who is starting a venture or working with people/creating teams and leading.
I loved particularly a new insight I picked up from this book, the author calls it the "3 sparks method" for improved active listening. It's his way of making sure he jots down or makes a mental note of the 3 things that stood out for him after any conversation.

This book contains very important information for budding entrepreneurs (and most other people as well), and is in a format that's easy to read several times as a reminder. There is nothing really new or revolutionary, but basic sound tips.

Si bien las herramientas, y aspectos de la visión de negocios presentada, son conocidos en el mundo de los negocios, a través de diferentes autores, lo que hace útil al libro es el hecho de que estén compiladas, y tratadas de una forma simple. Tal como comenta la sinopsis, es un libro que apunta mas a personas que recién se inician en el mundo de los negocios, o que están iniciando un negocio nuevo. Algo muy útil que tienen los capítulos, es como van dando una guía paso a paso, de determinados puntos para llevar a adelante lo que se comenta en cada uno, lo cual le aporta practicidad al libro, y ayuda a que no sea un libro que quede guardado en un cajón y jamas se vuelva a consultar.
