Ordinary Angels by John Micek, a very well written engaging book. This book pulls you in from the beginning and has you thinking the whole way thru. I really enjoyed it.

Ordinary Angels is a quick paced novel based on a reporter's discovery of government corruption involving organized crime. While reporting on a car crash, Sean Flynn accidentally uncovers clues that lead him to myriad illegal activities in two states. He falls in love and almost loses his life during the course of his investigation. Details about the setting around Harrisburg and the life of a newspaper reporter added to the story's appeal. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy reading about crime and suspense novels.

A political thriller dealing with greed, favours, politics and the grim side of life in Pennsylvania. The story is told by an investigative reporter, Sean Flynn following what seems like a tragic car accident. The trail takes him through paperwork for shadow companies, drug cartels, people trafficking and politics in high places to Florida and back. He's helped by a veteran cop, Marty and the apparent love of his life, Lena. The characters are well drawn as are the places - plenty of realistic descriptions presumably drawn from his "day job" as noted in the biographical notes at the end of the book. It's well written and a pretty good read. I look forward to the second book in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and Sunbury Press Inc. for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

We know journalists are great investigators, and this book is an example. The plot is good, and the story is well written, although a little slow sometimes. The language and the characters are great.

A timely novel in that we all seem to be more interested in politics and "following the money" these days. I enjoyed Mr. Micek's thoughtful look into the art of politics with well written, believable characters.
