This was an absolutely delightful series of comics. The humor is something both children and their parents can appreciate and I am not at all embarrassed to admit that there were a few that had be laughing out loud. I was a big fan of Calvin & Hobbes growing up and I agree that what Will Henry has created with the Snug Harbor stories brings the same humor, childish imagination, and camaraderie that made me love Calvin & Hobbes so much. I will definitely be going back to read Wallace the Brave.

I highly recommend this book to teachers, librarians, and parents. I am a big supporter of the use of comics in the classroom and I think young readers would love to see what is going on with Wallace and his friends.

I have never read Snug Harbor and Wallace is hilarious. I really enjoyed this graphic novel collection about him and his family and friends. The collection is set up like the comic strips and so they are short and simple reads, and you can pick it up and put it down easily in between theses sections.

Like I mentioned Wallace is very funny, my favorite story was when he gets his head stick in a Jack-O-lantern and his dad has no idea how to get him out. This is just one example of the funny things that occur throughout the book, but it is also so down to earth and easy to picture these funny things actually happening.

I think adults without kids would enjoy this, I also think parents and their kids will enjoy this as a read.

review will go live closer to Pub. date.

I really like it. Got Sunday funny pages feel. Cute stories about a few children that live around a fishing harbor.

I love small seaside towns (hence the name SeaCountry1487 on Instagram), and Rhode Island is a wonderful place for them. Following accounts about them on Instagram, as well as comic strip accounts, led me to Will Henry's Wallace the Brave comic strips. Wallace the Brave is still relatively new on the newspaper comics page. I was delighted to see this compilation come up on NetGalley.

Wallace the Brave is about a boy named, of course, Wallace. He is about 9 years old. He lives in Snug Harbor, Rhode Island with his father, mother, and little brother. He has adventures with his friend Spud, who is generally not very brave at all, and his other friend Amelia, who very much is. Unlike many comic strips whose writers try for a "could be anywhere in America" vibe, the region of coastal Rhode Island is front and center. This gives it a charming and unique point of view. Wallace and his friends play video games and organized sports. However, they enjoy an old-fashioned American childhood with little screen time and lots of free time outside.

Snug Harbor Stories takes Wallace and company from one summer to the next. They do not age or change grades. They do hunt for Sasquatch and sea gulls, frustrate their teacher, and run around on the beach. Wallace likes to make bold fashion statements with Cat in the Hat hats and kilts. The vocabulary and subject matter are suitable for tweens. Adult readers will get nostalgic and relate to the alternately bemused and amused authority figures in Wallace's life. At the end, Henry provides illustrated tips on growing avocados from a seed, keeping a field guide, and making a homemade winter sled.

When tutoring children in reading, I've found that comic strips are very helpful. Wallace, Amelia, and Spud would make terrific friends for the tween in your life. There's a good chance they'll charm you, too.

ARC Copy...I would describe as a slice of life type of narrative and thank goodness i didn't have to read the first volume to understand the "flow". I found it hilarious that yes it's about ordinary kids...who are prone to wacky behavior and circumstances yet provide a great guide to growing your own plant!

I received an arc of this book on netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read this comic before, and I didn't quite get it's humor, but for kids needing a good comic strip without any ''bad stuff'' this one would be a good pick.

Another clever, inventive story from Will Henry. This is a book I would gladly have shared in my middle school classroom, but would recommend it for readers even younger (not to mention adult readers).

Will Henry’s work is fun, attractive, and well done.
