I love this series! The story is well paced with witty dialogue, humor and well developed characters. I love the friendship between Georgia and Sid and how they work together to solve mysteries. This is one of the best cozy/paranormal mystery series that I have read.

I was given an ARC for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

Leigh Perry has given Sid the Skeleton fans a wonderful Christmas gift!

The Skeleton Stuffs a Stocking finds Georgia, Madison, Sid and Byron, living with her parents while she is an adjunct professor at Bostock College. When Byron finds a bone, that doesn't belong to Sid, the mystery leads to a decade old murder and may implicate Georgia's dear friend, Professor Charles Peyton, in the crime. Georgia and the crew work to solve the mystery and celebrate the Christmas season!

I loved this book! While the story is mystery driven, the reader is given a more in-depth look into the characters lives. I enjoyed seeing more of Georgia's parents, her sister Dana and their life at home as well as Georgia's colleagues. It was fun to see Sid interacting with the entire Thackery family which gave the book a holiday feel as we see Sid doing his Christmas shopping, dancing with Georgia and Madison, singing carols and decorating! The story involving Charles was touching and bittersweet. I always wanted to know more about his life. Georgia's ex-boyfriend, Brownie, brings a perfect balance. if romance and mystery into the story.

The mystery was fast-paced and, as always, the dialogue was witty. This is one of a few cozy mysteries that has made me tear up, gasp and shout with joy all at the same time! The Skeleton Stuffs a Stocking is a wonderful Christmas gift!

I received an ARC from NetGalley for a fair and honest review of this book.

Georgia and Sid are at it again, when Byron the dog starts chewing on a femur and a long-dead body is discovered. When a possible connection arises to Georgia’s fellow adjunct professor and friend, she know she can’t just let it go. Complicating matters further, there’s a strike at the college she’s working at, her ex-boyfriend is back in town, and it’s Christmas.

This series shouldn’t work at all: there’s a living skeleton that solves crimes. It’s a testament to the author that it is absolutely amazing! It is always so much fun to read this series, and I wasn’t disappointed. I love the image of Sid as a skeleton singing Christmas carols and decorating a tree. Also, Charles is a terrific side character, and I hope he comes back again.

This fast-paced and well-written whodunit immediately grabbed my attention, quickly becoming a page-turner as I could not put this book down. The author knows how to tell a story that had me immersed in all the details with visually descriptive narrative that put me in the middle of all the action. This book had everything I love in a mystery: a solid plot, a lovable and quirky cast of characters, suspense and intrigue to keep me reading, engaging dialogue and a feel good atmosphere. Even the camaraderie between the various characters was a joy to watch, especially the carnival folks and the students who drop by the Thackery house. All in all this was a fun-filled and enjoyable tale that I did not want it to end. But the best part of this book was the Christmas gift that Sid gave Georgia. Just warmed the cockles of my heart. This is by far, the BEST book in this delightfully endearing series and I can’t wait for the next book.

The Skeleton Stuffs A Stocking is the 6th installment in the Family Skeleton mystery series. This is the first in the series that I have read. Dr. Georgia Thackery is an adjunct professor at a local college and her family has a skeleton at their house .. how quirky is that. You have a friend who is a skeleton. When Georgia and her daughter Madison’s dog finds a bone (human) they think it must be Sid’s but it is not. So the mystery begins to figure out whose bone it is. There is a connection to her job. This was a humorous mystery and I was able to follow but want to go back and read the previous books in this series. Definitely recommend.

I was so very excited to see a book #6 in A Family Skeleton Mysteries - Skeleton Stuffs a Stocking by Leigh Perry. This newest installment is refreshing and funny, as are all of the other books in this mystery series. As always, I read this mystery pretty quickly because it’s hard to put down once Sid gets started.

I adore the idea of the living (not quite living ) skeleton who has become a part of this family. I like the thought of having a best friend (skeleton - Sid) to help solve mysteries. So many of these cozy mysteries just have a busy body / nosy, feel, BUT NOT this one. I appreciate the relationship / friendship and the confusion & fun of having a secret friend looking out for you and doing some extra investigating when mysteries pop up. Sid is a much loved member of the family ❤️

I love this whole series. While this cover is ok, I much prefer the previous illustration style featured on the earlier books; this is my favorite cozy mystery series.

I was provided this book free of charge for the purpose iof giving an honest review.

I can't help but get a little thrill every time I see a new addition to this series. Not only is this addition full of bonus holiday cheer, but, the mature of an old murder and new mystery was perfection on the page! Also, with the author throwing a twist in at the end, I was floored. Everything about this story was amazing and I hope this is a series that continues on and on.

really liked it

I really enjoyed this book. The story revolves around the discovery of a skeleton at the site of a house that had been demolished years ago. Georgia and her daughter are looking for their escape artist dog, when he shows up with a femur. As Georgia's best friend, Sid, is an animate skeleton, their assumption is that the dog had taken the bone from him. When that is not the case, Georgia calls one of her sister's two boyfriends, the police officer. After searching, the group finds the grave and the skeleton. Georgia is an adjunct professor at one of the local colleges, and her colleague has a connection to the woman whose skeleton was found. Rather than implicate her friend, Georgia and Sid start looking into the death. Interwoven with the mystery of who killed the mystery wan are preparations for Christmas, grading papers, parenting a teenager, dealing with her own and her parents' students and fitting in some romance with the guy who almost got away.

The storyline is engaging and I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. All are well developed and a great mix of personalities. Sid, our behind the scenes sleuth, is funny, quick and an awesome researcher. That he is an animated skeleton took a bit of getting used to. I enjoyed the dialogue between Sid and the rest of the characters. I found the plot well organized and it had enough twists that I didn't figure out who the thief was until the end. There is another twist at the end which is totally unexpected

The Skeleton Stuffs a Stocking is the latest in a cozy series written by Leigh Perry. I have not read any of the previous books in the series, so I can tell you that this can be read as a standalone with no loss of enjoyment. I will be reading the previous books in the series because the characters are just so great!

I received an advance reading copy of The Skeleton Stuffs a Stocking from Diversion Books on NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

I really liked this new book in the series, it's better than the last one I think. The story is tight, the characters enjoyable and the investigating seamless. I liked that the storyline is intricate. The ending was a surprise as well as the "epilogue". #TheSkeletonStuffsAStocking #NetGalley

Description
Sid is back with a murder that’s sure to send a chill up your spine in Leigh Perry’s newest festive mystery.

Dr. Georgia Thackery is back at home with her parents after finding a new adjunct position at Bostock College. Everyone is excited for their first family Christmas with nothing to hide. Why? Because Georgia’s daughter Madison is now in the know about Sid, their walking, talking family skeleton. But their Christmas cheer is interrupted when the Thackery’s dog Byron goes missing on a cold December night. When he’s finally found, he has a femur clutched between his jaws, and Georgia and Madison race to apologize to Sid for letting the dog gnaw on him yet again. Except all of Sid’s bones are present and accounted for. This bone is from somebody else, and when they trace Byron’s trail to an overgrown lot nearby, they find the rest of the skeleton. It’s the normal kind, not moving or telling jokes, and when the police come to take charge, they’re sure it was murder. And one of Georgia’s adjunct friends could be implicated. With tensions stirring at the college and everyone hiding a secret or two, Sid and Georgia must uncover the truth before the ghost of a Christmas past strikes again.

My Review

The Skeleton Stuffs a Stocking is the sixth in the Family Skeleton Mystery Series. This is my first book from this author, and boy am I glad I read this book. Now that I have completed this book I just have to go back and read the previous five books.

The characters are quirky and delightful. I was hooked from the beginning and to think my favorite character is a talking, dancing skeleton. Sid is one guest I would welcome into my home anytime.

Once I started the book I was not able to put it down until the very end. It hooks you from the beginning when their dog Byron finds a bone and Madison and her mother Georgia think it belongs to Sid. Sid, the funny skeleton that sits down on the couch and puts his arms around Madison and Georgia.

So, when the rest of the bones are located and deemed to have been in the ground for eight years Georgia and Sid are drawn into solving the case.

I was provided this book free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion.

So, I highly recommend this book and give it a 5 star Description
A captivating novel based on the story of the extraordinary real-life American woman who secretly worked for the French Resistance during World War II—while playing hostess to the invading Germans at the iconic Hôtel Ritz in Paris—from the New York Times bestselling author of The Aviator's Wife and The Swans of Fifth Avenue.

Based on true events, Mistress of the Ritz is a taut tale of suspense wrapped up in a love story for the ages, the inspiring story of a woman and a man who discover the best in each other amid the turbulence of war.

My Review

Mistress of the Ritz is the true story of Blanche and her husband Claude as hotel directors of the Ritz. Things are going great until the German army move in and set up their headquarters at the Ritz. Can you imagine? For someone who frequents Paris often I cannot imagine empty cafes and sidewalks. I can't imagine The Hemingway Bar or The Ritz or anywhere in Place Vendôme filled with soldiers or tanks.

The story definitely has unexpected turns mixed in with a wonderful love story. Make sure you have some kleenex close by as the story is heart wrenching. Overall this novel is very well written. You have no choice but to fall in love with Blanche and Claude.

Since this is a historical novel I thoroughly enjoyed the author giving us a glimpse as to who Blanche really was. When she arrived in Paris, what she did to erase her Jewish heritage... but most interesting was Lily. I cannot say more as I will give too much away. Just know that if you enjoy historical fiction novels, then this is the book for you.

I was provided this book free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion. A must read.

I give this book a 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
