I adore this series. I also devour everything that Roni Loren writes. She has such a gift at telling stories. The thing about this series I like the most is so often tragedy happens like in this case a school shooting but we don't get to see the aftermath as a group of people whom become unlikely friends.

Finally we get Kincaid's story. In the last three books, Kincaid has been the champion for all her friends but we never really get to know Kincaid. Finally here we do. Kincaid is always fun loving and easy going but here we get to see her pain and watch her climb out of it to find her happiness

I don't recall hearing about Kincaid's best friend Ashton in the past but that would have been a small detail in the other books easy to over look. Ashton was Kincaid's best friend but also secretly in love with her as well. One night after the tragedy they leaned on each other and it caused them to drift apart. Ashton tried to avoid Kincaid when ever he could but fate has something in store for these two.

Circumstance bring Ashton back into town while at the same time Kincaid makes a drastic choice and ends up in Ashton's path. They start their friendship easily but also Kincaid's emotions get opened up to the possibility of more.

I adored these two together plus you had goats and I'm hooked. It was a sweet story about second chances and also showcased the beauty of the friendship with the other survivors. That friendship is my favorite part of this series.

I'm not sure if this is the end of the series but I would assume it is. If it was it ended well. If there is more than I will jump at the chance to read more from this author.

3.5 Stars!

I read the first installment of this series but not two and three, so I was curious to see if I could get in to this forth installment as a stand alone, which worked very well.

Kincaid and Ashton were best friends through the school years until high school ended... With a school shooting at prom. After this horrible event Ash left their hometown and Kincaid. Now, after more than ten years, he's back. Can they be friends again?

This is a romance but with very serious events which makes you feel a bit more, it's not all light fluff. I recommend this if you want a love story with heartbreaking, real problems. What happens to the people who survives a mass shooting? Can you ever leave this behind you?

Fair warning; some scenes are rather steamy 😅

This is a heavy book, it's devastating and hopeful all at the same time. My heart was so broken for all that these characters survived, particularly since mass shootings are a real and extremely tragic event. Kincaid was so relatable in her way of dealing with her feelings, just shove it down and keep moving forward so you're not sucked under by grief, especially her dedication to Graham after his death. Ash and his unrequited love for Kincaid was crushing, made more so by the guilt that he was carrying with him over the events of prom night. Despite the heavy nature, there were definitely funny moments that made me laugh, and a sense of hopefulness that even though there are unspeakable tragedies in this life, it's possible to heal from those and move on and be able to still have a great life. This is a good read, but a difficult one due to some of the subject matter.

This is the first book I've read by Roni Loren and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a little slow at first but overall an entertaining read.

***Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Roni Loren for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.***

Kincaid and Ashton were best friends whose friendship fell apart after a school shooting. Now, years later, Ash returns to their hometown where their paths cross. Kincaid forgives Ash for leaving so they can be friends again. The problem is that there was always more to Ash’s feelings for Kincaid than friendship, and there are still secrets and ghosts coming between them.

I have to hand it to Loren who gave me all the feels: love, connection, friendship, frustration, anger, possessiveness, protectiveness, and a handful of other emotions that I’m sure I’m forgetting. I wasn’t even sure I liked Kincaid at first. She’s tough on the outside, and I needed to see her marshmallow center to understand her better. I really liked Ash. It was impossible not to feel for him and all that he’d been through. Same goes for Kincaid, it just took me time to see it. Loren really made the connection between the MCs come alive, and I loved that it wasn’t a straight line to a happily ever after for them. I loved that Kincaid had such great friends that she could lean on, not to mention Graham’s (her high school boyfriend who was killed in the shooting) parents and their book store. I mean, what reader doesn’t love a story that’s partially set in a book store, not to mention one you could live above? Loren put a lot of thought and care into her characters, story and the series as a whole and it shows! I adored the character’s growth and how the epilogue tied all the loose ends together.

This was a strong conclusion to this series. Kincaid has been the most "together" of her friends for most of this series, seeing her vulnerabilities and doubts really made her come together as a character. I liked Ash as her hero, someone who knew her before the events of Prom Night and loved her then and loves her now.

I have loved this entire series, and this was a perfect conclusion.

The premise of this series seems like it shouldn’t work at all, but Loren is very skilled at utilizing the tragedy for maximum character growth and development. I loved all the thing we discovered about Ash and Kincaid, and I am truly bummed this series is over. I will be first in line for the next book from Loren.

Roni Loren saved the best for last with The One for You. It is by far my favorite book in The Ones Who Got Away series. I want to say there was something so special about it, but it wasn't just one thing. It was the whole package.

Kincaid has always been the character who stood out for me throughout the whole series. She's the reason why I kept reading the series because I didn't want to miss out on anything that led up to her book. I was greatly rewarded for keeping up with the series because Kincaid's story was EVERYTHING. She thought she lost everything that fateful night of the shooting. While she did lose someone very important to her, she didn't lose everything. I loved how it took her estranged best friend Ash turning up in town to show her that.

Ash... I didn't expect his back story to be as important to me as Kincaid's, but it was. He was such a great guy. He was generous and kind. Ash truly wanted the people he loved to be happy, even if it was at his own expense. His friendship with Kincaid and the direction it took in this book warmed my heart. It was the type of best friends to lovers / almost second chance at love story a romance reader loves.

I truly adored The One for You. It brought the entire The Ones Who Got Away series full circle and ended it in the best way possible. Kudos to Loren for giving us the story we have been waiting for.

Kincaid and her ex-best friend, Ash, have been estranged since the school shooting that turned both of their lives upside down. He's now a successful author who travels the globe writing thrillers in exotic locations, and she's a real estate agent who just bought one of her own listings (that she can't afford) out from under a client in the hopes of turning it into a B&B. When their former employers need help fixing up their bookstore to get it ready to sell, there's no way Kincaid or Ash can say no. Emily and Charlie were like surrogate parents to them, and Kincaid and Ash swear to put the past behind them so they can get the job done. And they do such a good job of it that they easily fall back into friendship and then, even more. But Ash hasn't told Kincaid the full truth about what happened that night at prom when her boyfriend (and Emily and Charlie's son) was killed along with so many others. How can they move on to a real "happily ever after" when there are still secrets between them that could tear them apart?

This was SUCH a great series, and this book was a fabulous final entry. Friends to lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes, and Ash and Kincaid have a deep and loving friendship where they actually get each other...even before they became anything more. Also, nerdy, tattooed writers who wear glasses are pretty swoony. I love that we get a hot nerd added to the hunks in this series. FBI agents and personal trainers with insane muscles are all fine and well, but I think Ash is much more my speed.

I think I said this after I read #3, but I'm not sure I would have ever thought a romance series based around a school shooting would work. In concept, it should be way too dark and depressing a place to start, right? But, this is the world we live in, and survivors have to move on and have lives and hopefully find healing and happiness. Which Roni Loren handled so delicately and gracefully here and throughout the whole series. All the issues of survivor's guilt and being triggered by memories and having holes in what they actually remember from that night...it's all covered with sensitivity, but balanced out by this amazing friendship between the four women and their love stories with the men in their lives.

I haven't read any others of Loren's books, but I'm absolutely going to go back and try some of her older ones to tide me over until she starts her next series. Her writing is SO smooth and easy to read, but witty and clever and poignant without ever being too cheesy. I can't wait to see what she does next.

I've really enjoyed all this series, but I think this was my favourite.

If the thought of reading books about a school shooting puts you off don't let it, because whilst it is mentioned and does affect all the characters in one way or another, it isn't the whole focus of the book, or any in this series, although obviously it is the underlying fact that brought the group of friends together, but it's handled really sympathetically.

This book is about Kincaid and Ash who were best friends in high school.  Kincaid was oblivious to the fact that Ash liked her and only thought of him as her best friend and someone who she could tell anything to and rely on.  Ash on the other hand wanted to be that best friend, but also much more, but it just never worked out for them, mainly because Kincaid started seeing Graham (one of those who died) and, after the shooting, everyone was in a bad place and Ash ended up leaving Long Acre to pursue his writing ambitions, and escape his bad family life and everything that had happened.

Kincaid has stayed in Long Acre and made a good life for herself, determined to shake the reputation her family had because of her Mother, but has always had flings rather than relationships because she lost her one true love and 'hero' Graham in the shooting.  But then Ash comes back to town to try and get inspiration for his new book and gets caught up in the family and friends still there and slowly secrets come out and change his and Kincaid's relationship.  There was a really great vibe between the two of them and it was so nice to see Kincaid finally becoming a little less dense where Ash was concerned!

We also caught up with the rest of the gang and their partners, who are always there for each other in times of need.  A great group of friends.

This was just the perfect end to a really great series.

Loved this book and the whole series. Interesting high concept, difficult subject matter, dealt with sensitively in the hands of a master.

“Once upon a time, there was feisty little girl named Kincaid who met this awkward little boy when she was out walking one day. She adopted him as her friend on sight, and he knew his life would never be the same...”

Kincaid wasn’t supossed to survive that night at Long Acre High School, when so many died, including her boyfriend.
Her best friend Ashton survived too but he chose to ran far away after the shooting.
Now he is back in town but he still doesn’t know how to cope with his feelings for Kincaid, the only woman he’s ever loved.
The One For You is the fourth book in The Ones Who Got Away Series.
It’s a best friends to lovers romance, it’s an emotional story, with sexy and funny moments in the mix.
It’s a story about love, friendship, loss and survival.
I recommend you read the first books in the series before so you can warm up to the characters.

Thank you @netgalley and @sourcebookscasa for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“How had she ever looked at him and not seen what was in his heart?”

“He’d always know she was the one for him. The problem was he’d never truly beleived that he was the one for her.”

The One For You is the perfect next installment in The Ones Who Got Away series. Roni Loren peels back the layers on Kincaid Breslin and gives us a gorgeous second-chance romance. The One For You is both a romantic and emotional journey for Kincaid and Ash. You'll definitely fall for Ash!

This is the fourth and final book in “The Ones Who Got Away” series. This series follows survivors of a High School shooting (mostly 4 women) and shows the years following this heartbreaking incident and how they are coping and healing. The three previous books have all been sexy, captivating, dramatic and emotional. This final book is no different! The chemistry & banter between Ash and Kincade was so great & flowed through the book so well. I love the strong female characters along with their wonderful and supportive partners. I am sad this series is over but it ended perfectly with this book. I highly highly recommend!

This was one of the best books I’ve read this year. From the summary I thought it would be the old, and often poorly done childhood friends to lovers trope, but other elements and character development kept me interested an I enjoyed the story.

I've taken a week to write this review. To try to put into words everything I love about this book. I stumbled upon this series when the first book came out. I fell in love. Ive been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for each book. And now that the last one is here, pretty sure I felt a piece of my soul break off. This series is emotion wrenching, heart felt, romantic, comedic, etc, etc, etc. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Kincaid and Ashtons story though? My all time favorite. These two characters flowed together so well and lifted off the pages and into my heart and soul. I loved every minute of it and didnt want it to end!

Another great story in the series and maybe one of my favourite books of the year as well.
It's amazing how some authors manage to create a world out of tragedy for so many characters that are meant to be together.
This one is about Kincaid and Ashton, best friends in high school that were forced to live their life with the guilt and feelings of being a survivor of those tragic moments when many of their friends passed away, including her then-boyfriend.
It's a story full of angst and a lesson to live your life at its best, to take any opportunity that comes in your way and make the best of it even if you're scared and afraid of failure or losing your heart again.
I loved this slow burn friend to lovers story and can't recommend it enough.

This is the 4th book in the series and I loved them all. So glad that all the main characters have found love after the tragedy that they went through. This wraps up the series very nicely!

Wow....I have loved this series and I honestly think the best was saved for last...Kincaid and Ash’s journey was an emotional rollercoaster from the beginning with so much heartbreak, tragedy and deception. The horror these characters have faced was so well written and the emotion was leaping of the page! I’m gutted to say goodbye to these 4 women and men, but the ending was perfection...I have a lump in my throat. An outstanding series
