I didn't realise when I started reading this book that it was, in fact, a short story but what a short story it is!

I ended up really connecting with Lawson and Jordie and was sad when the story ended feeling that I needed more time with them. However, the story did end on a strong note which I appreciated. The story is about a scout group at the closing of the American Civil War. The scout group comes in contact with the enemy and their numbers reduce from 5 to 3. One of the three is mortally injured and instead of leaving him behind they head towards a rural town in hopes of finding a doctor. When they arrive at the town of Old Hollow they are shocked to find the town completely untouched by war and filled with men of fighting age. The town holds dark secrets and our hero's have walked into a nightmare. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a short horror story on a dark night!

I'm such a fan of Ambrose Stolliker that I will read a Civil War horror story. :)

This story novella is more about the dark monsters in the corners of our mind, less about the North vs the South.

Ambrose is such a talented writer that I would reach a grocery list if he wrote it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Old Hollow is a fantastic short story that was well written and has great characters. I wish it had been longer. I would read more by this author.
