I really wanted to like this book. The synopsis held so much promise, but the book failed to deliver as much as I hoped for from it. I enjoyed it well enough, but with a few tweaks it could have been an even more enjoyable read.

Time for a romantic story during the festive season in Scotland. I love the Scottish accent, but I don't think the Scottish winters are for me. Nothing stopping me from visiting in the summer than, right? ;)

Maybe it was different when I grew up. It seemed like it was more important to do what people expected you to do than doing what your heart told you to. You were afraid to do certain things in a certain way because of what people would have to say about it.

I have always been a bit of a rebel. I wanted people to notice me and talk about me because I wanted them to see I wanted to do and study what I wanted to. But unfortunately I could not follow all my dreams. So I swore, when once I had kids I would show them how to not care about what people thought about certain things and to go for it.

That's what happened to Beth. She was stopped in doing what her heart told her to and she had to make a drastic decision. Years later people show regret, but all the time they spent apart is time you can never get back .

People should take the time to listen to each other before judging or not taking other people's ideas or feelings in consideration.

Some people have the decency to come clean and to ask for forgiveness, but some are never able to admit they were wrong.

This is a gorgeous story about family, lost love, forgiveness and new plans for a happy future. I love all the characters, the background story and I admire people big enough to say they were wrong even though it might take them far too long. 5 stars

Thank you

Beth is our lead character for this book by Victoria Walters (my first book by this author) and we see her making her way back home to Glendale Hall in Scotland. She is with her daughter Isabelle and is only making the trip at the insistence of her Father as her Grandmother is terminally ill. With the weather in the UK currently turning more and more gloomy this sort of setting was perfect to get me in the (dare I say it) Christmas mood. It is clear from the outset that Beth's family are very fractured however it takes some time to unwind all of the dark secrets that people were holding on to.

Glendale Hall and the village it is set in sound both beautiful and magical. The characters that are introduced all played their part on making this book feel very homely. Beth manages to catch up with her school friend Heather along with Sally who works at the Hall and has done all through Beth's childhood. I don't want to elaborate too much more on the storyline as that would spoil it for other people. What I did love was the sense of community, friendship and love that this book portrayed and I absolutely loved it. No sooner had I finished the last page I had downloaded the second book set in the same place! Hooray! A fabulous book especially for the dreary winter months and I absolutely loved it! I am so pleased to add another fabulous author to my list of must reads!

Sad parts which I’m sure we can all appreciate and things that shouldn’t have happened. But it’s all ok in the end. Well done!

I love to read a Christmas story and this one was wonderful. This is a story of missed opportunities, new beginnings, secrets and lies, hopes and dreams, family, friendship, community and romance. I was drawn in from the start and found this difficult to put down.

I loved the setting and enjoyed all of the characters. I was hoping that they would find their happy ever after.

A lovely festive read which could be enjoyed at any time of year.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review

Beth Williams hasn’t been home for ten years. After falling pregnant at sixteen, she ran away from the imposing Scottish estate where she grew up rather than risk her family’s disapproval, working hard to build a life for herself and daughter Isabelle - but now she’s finally returning to Glendale Hall.

I love this cover art; it really drew me in. This is a perfect book for the holiday season, packed with Christmas love and cheer. I truly enjoyed reading this book because it upped my mood and spirits and helped me remember the reason and magic of the holiday season. I would highly recommend adding this book to your holiday reading list; it is like reading a Hallmark movie!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

The cover of this book feels like a real Christmas and the story that goes with it doesn't disappoint either. Great read, lovely characters and a plot that you can believe in. 5 Stars to a great read and I recommend it.

As Beth tries to mend her broken family ties, and fights to bring the community of Glendale back together, she realises that the story she has told herself for a decade might well be a very different one from the truth. Even though she ran from Glendale it has never left her heart. And, she soon realises, neither has Drew – Beth’s first love.

Will Beth be able to forgive her mother and grandmother (and herself) for what happened ten years ago? What will Drew say when he discovers the secret she’s been keeping from him for so long? Can a festive trail bring the village back together?

Will Christmas work its magic on Glendale - or will Beth be forced to run away from it all over again?

Festive and cute read. Loved it!

Beth left Glendale ten years ago, sixteen, alone and pregnant, and now for the first time since she is returning home due to her grandmother illness. Hoping to make it just a flying visit she starts to get drawn back in and realises that to her her Glendale has always been home. Her daughter Izzy loves it there but then to Beth's horror she bumps into Drew, Izzy's father, will he forgive her for the past and the lost years with Izzy...... were all her reasons for leaving at the time the true story and will she ever be able to forgive her family?

A lovely heartwarming story with lots of past hurt and lies to be uncovered, the main characters are great and I particularly loved Drew who was such a kind warm man... as well as being gorgeous obviously...... and so you are willing everything to get sorted out.

When Beth Williams left home at the age of 16, pregnant and alone, she had no idea where she would end up or how she would cope yet she does.
10 years later she finds herself returning to the Scottish estate of Glendale Hall for Christmas.
Heartfelt and heartwarming, A perfect festive feel good.

A light, festive read that will have you reaching for the hot chocolate in those colder months! I loved the family dynamics in this, and the romance with Drew. A wonderfully warm novel for Christmas.

Thanks to Net Galley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is about second chances. It was a good read but lacked emotional depth when it came to Beth and Drew. I really wish Drew had been given more character - a flaw seen so often when it comes to chick lit books.

A full good romance novel full of Christmas spirit, it’s one that will leave you feeling warm and tingly inside.
Beth Williams escaped from her imposing home after falling pregnant at 16. Leaving the large Scottish estate she rushed to London working hard to build a life for herself and her daughter Isabelle.
But after ten years Beth is finally returning as her Grandmother isn’t very well. Discovering also that the reasons behind her leaving may not have been what she though, Beth realises that she is still in love with Drew but can the secret that she has harboured for so long pull them back together or will it tear them even further apart? Can she ever forgive her mother for her part in Beth’s leaving? Can the festivities help to bring everyone back together again?
An absolute charmer of a story. A focused story line helps to weave its away around the dramas of Beth’s life, it leaves you wanting more.
Victoria Walters is a new author for me but I will definitely be reading more, especially the follow on to this novel!

Coming Home to Glendale Hall has such a beautiful cover but don't let it fool you.
The book really packs an emotional wallop especially towards the end.
Coming home after 10 years away we get to see a story of second chances and the possibilities of building new hope.
Fabulous story where the characters actually talk out their problems instead of trying to hide them.
I enjoyed the setting and getting to know the characters.
