Cute life swap storyline. Unfortunately it did not keep my interest, took a while for me to complete this book.

The perfect light-hearted romcom. This was an easy read full of sweet romance and lots of laugh out loud moments. It’s the kind of story that leaves you smiling.

This is the story of Rebecca. She really really really wants to be an event planner. The only thing is, she works for Vanessa, the hottest Event Planner in London. Only not as an associate but as her EA. The girl who runs around getting Vanessa coffee, labeling her files, keeping track of Vanessa's day-to-day. Not creating the most amazing events London has even seen. To make matters worse, she shares a flat with a disgusting roommate who takes all her groceries and never replaces them, uses her toothbrush and doesn't seem to feel a need to shower.

Basically, Rebecca is a big pushover.

Then Vanessa sends Rebecca to her country home to oversee renovations - which Rebecca begrudgingly agrees to. The bonus - at least she gets a break from living with her flatmate!

Everything changes when Rebecca arrives and is mistaken for Vanessa by the general contractors. Suddenly, as "Vanessa" Rebecca isn't a pushover. She's able to get the guys on track. She's able to stick up for herself. And it doesn't hurt that one of the contractors catches her eye ... and he seems to be just as interested.

Obviously Rebecca is going to have to come clean ... but how long can she keep this feeling of the new and improved her before having to face reality.

This was a cute book. A great little romance, which was definitely a driving theme in the book, but mostly it was about Rebecca getting to know herself, and realize her own worth. Highly enjoyable - nice, quick, not too complicated. You know what you are going to get, and I don't think you will be disappointed.

This does exactly what it says on the tin - Rebecca is a PA, and when her boss Vanessa asks her to oversee the renovations at her new home she is mistaken for her boss. Rather than correcting the mistake Rebecca just goes along with it falling for one of the builders along the way.

A delightful, quick read that wasn't anything spectacular.

Rebecca Riley is an events manager - or she wants to be one. Instead, she is stuck as a PA to her demanding boss Vanessa, has a stinky, good-for-nothing roommate, and now her boss wants her to undertake the construction of her holiday home in Little Heaton, a town in the middle of nowhere. When Rebecca gets there, she isn't sure how she would ever get the job done. But by accident, she is mistaken to be Vanessa Whitley herself. Utilizing her boss's fiery reputation, Rebecca starts ordering the workers to move up the job and is surprised by the power that her change in name gets her. But things don't go as planned as one lie leads to another and she finds herself in a mess... and maybe in love.

The premise was very promising, but I thought that what the book had in concept, it lost in its execution. Rebecca's character has very little characterization. There was nothing distinguishing her from Rebecca as pretend-Vanessa or the real-Rebecca. Another thing I wasn't impressed by was that most of the characters are stereotypical embodiments. Vanessa is made out to be this feisty hot-tempered boss, but we don't actually see her living up to her bad reputation. Her character is over-exaggerated, which made the whole thing unrealistic for me. On the other hand, Rebecca's flat mate is the sexist, dirty guy, and to think he didn't notice her absence for three weeks says a lot. The only character I liked was Stacey's. Oliver was fine as a love-interest, but I wished there were more dialogue and confrontation between Rebecca and the rest of the workers after her true identity is out.

Most of the plot was very predictable - the romance subplot, Rebecca's career turn, Emma's development, Vanessa's turnaround - everything turned out exactly the way I anticipated, and this predictability made it uninteresting. Overall, while the writing is definitely unique to the author, the story is your average contemporary romance. If you're in the mood for a light comedy, you would love the book.

This book is the reason I adore British chick lit! I could not have ended 2019 on a better note. It has the humour and the quirkiness that only the British can so brilliantly achieve. I loved each and every character, the storyline and the atmospheric elements as well. ⠀

I adored the small town community love, the main character Rebecca and her growth into the person she is meant to be and comfortable being. ⠀

This story is about Rebecca, a PA trying to make her way up the corporate ladder at an events company in order to not only embrace her dream career but also move out of the gross flat she lives in with her even less-than-hygenic flatmate. ⠀

This plan goes awry when she is ordered by her boss to oversee the renovation of a house that her boss, Vanessa, has purchased in the country side of England. Ever ready to please and not being able to make her own voice heard, Rebecca makes her way to country side to manage the renovation in the hopes of pleasing her boss enough for a promition. This does not come without a couple of obstacles along the way. This is of course what provides the charm, the giggles and the fuzzy feels 😍.⠀

Will this detour in Rebecca's life plan be a hindrance or possibly the crossroad she needs in order to determine what she really wants for her life? ⠀

All I can say is, if you enjoy chick lit then PICK THIS UP! Cannot recommend this enough! It is my first read from this author but definitely won't be my last!

I am going to be brutally honest. This was a DNF for me. I just couldn’t push through it. It wasn’t that the writing was bad or that it’s an absolutely awful novel. In fact, I’m sure that it’s one that others enjoyed. Just not for me. As for why?

To be frank, I just didn’t connect with the narrator/heroine. I found her a bit annoying and just like she didn’t have the guts to do what was right. Which I didn’t like. She was in some ways a bit tooo “innocent” to the point of ignorance.

Not to mention the fact that it’s almost entirely illogical that she would go and act as her boss, knowing that at some point the jig would be up.

I will say however that I admired her determination to prove people wrong and work hard with the animals. But it wasn’t enough to get me to continue trudging through the book when my TBR is so long.

This is not a total rebuke of this book nor the author. There are many other reviews and people which praise it. It simply was the case for me that I didn’t enjoy it.

'The Accidental Life Swap' is such a fun and fantastic read. I thoroughly enjoyed Rebecca Riley's journey to believing in herself and growing in confidence in her abilities and what she is capable of. I think we all need a bit of a boost sometimes, so it was great to see Rebecca find her feet and learn to love who she is. I wasn't a huge fan of her evil boss Vanessa and at times I wanted Rebecca to see that she herself was kind hearted and lovely and that she really didn't need to aspire to be like someone as mean as her boss. I don't know why she put her boss on such a high pedestal when she wasn't very nice, but Rebecca gets there in the end, staying true to who she is and doing the right thing.



The village of Little Heaton, that Rebecca travels to for the renovation, is utterly delightful. I absolutely adored the cast of characters that Rebecca meets there; especially Oliver and Stacey. Ooh and of course all the cute as can be animals. I very much wanted to go and visit the place myself. In addition, I just loved the cosy and warm vibe of the village and how everyone knew each other so well. This was particularly joyful when the whole village came together for the Charity run and the Autumn festival; yes those had me grinning from ear to ear. Who doesn't love an Autumn festival? And Jennifer wrote it so wonderfully too.



The sparkle of romance between Rebecca and Oliver had me smiling so big. Their banter was so much fun and their love of board games was rather endearing; their competitive streaks had me giggling. I really enjoyed how their friendship blossomed and found it incredibly heartwarming at the end to see how they made their relationship work. I thought this was a brilliant story of learning to stand up for yourself but remain kind and humble. I also liked that at the end Rebecca remained independent with her own space and new life, but still got to spend time in Little Heaton and with Oliver, they both made it work together which I found to be lovely.

Oh my gosh this book was sooooo funny! I couldn’t stop laughing! The way they just...swap lives! And it’s so accidental! I can’t even with this book!!

The premise is very simple and the story line is quite predictable. I had to skip a few paragraphs, just so that I could finish the book.

I received The Accidental Life Swap by Jennifer Joyce as an ARC from Netgalley. The Accidental Life Swap is a rom com. Rebecca is working as a PA for Vanessa at an event planning firm. Rebecca desperately wants Vanessa to see that she has what it takes for a promotion. So when Vanessa asks Rebecca to oversee the final renovations on a home she purchased in the country Rebecca agrees. When Rebecca arrives, the workers mistake her for Vanessa and rather than correct them, Rebecca, pretends to be her. Of course, Rebecca wasn't expecting to fall for one of the guys who thinks that she is Vanessa. I enjoyed the book and found the story interesting in a typical rom com fashion.

I was unable to read and review the book by the publishing date due to other commitments. I will update the review immediately upon completion of the book. Thank you NetGalley and publisher.

This one did not work for me. The writing felt extremely flat and the sentences didn’t flow well together, making it difficult to take the story seriously. The plot moves were too convenient and felt so contrived...I’m thankful to the publisher for sending me an early copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Disappointed this didn’t work for me!

Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for this Arc, This was a fun entertaining RomCom that I just loved and it was a quick read for me I loved the characters and I actually laughed out loud a lot and it was a fun adventure and very cute!

This is a "mistaken identity" rom-com that's well written and a lot of fun. Rebecca is overseeing the renovation of her boss Vanessa's house, and the workers naturally assume that Rebecca IS Vanessa. She takes that and runs with it, with some predictable but funny results.

I loved this book! If you like books by Sophie Kinsella or Sally Thorne, you'd love this. I found myself chuckling in places and felt the characters were really well developed!

I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, heartwarming and very entertaining! It reminded me of the style of author Sophie Kinsella, so if you are a fan of yer, you’ll love this book! I highly recommend it!

What a delightful, light-hearted romantic comedy this book is! The plot is near perfect for the classic romantic comedy genre and the many appeals that has to offer. The attraction and romance is very slow-burn approach and worth the wait!

Great romantic comedy read. I absolutely love books is this genre so it is not a surprise that I really liked this one. I will for sure be watching for more books from this author. This was a quick and fun read.
