Set on idyllic Nantucket Island, a place where even the winter snow is magical.

Christina Antonioni operates a toy shop on the island. This Christmas instead of comfort and joy, Christina learns that her rent at the shop is about to increase making her wonder if she'll be able to stay in business. As fate would have it a 9 year old shoplifter with a close connection to Christina's landlord, Oscar Bittlesman, the richest man on the island, may help her to plea her case. As Christina gets to know the Bittlesman's family better she also gets an unexpected Christmas surprise she hadn't planned on.

I really liked my first Christmas read of 2019. The characters were charming and the story memorable. Even though the ending was predictable and a bit abrupt, I still really enjoyed this one.

Christina is preparing for the holidays at her Nantucket toy shop, unpacking last-minute things and decorating for her Christmas shoppers. Her Scrooge of a landlord, Oscar Bittlesman, raises her rent and makes impossible for Christina to continue business on the wharf.

Christina hopes there is a warm heart under Oscar’s steely exterior. When she bonds with Wink, his sweet, young granddaughter who frequents the shop, it makes it clear that he isn’t cold after all. And with the help of Wink’s uncle, who happens to be very handsome this may be the best Christmas any of them could have ever imagined. Nancy Thayer’s enchanting Nantucket setting provides the perfect backdrop for this holiday love story.

This is such a great read and I really enjoyed it here close to the holidays. Nancy Thayer gives us a warm, cozy Christmas read with a great family in it as well. I highly recommend this read if you love a great Christmas read!

Christina is a Nantucket shop owner just trying to make ends meet. Christina gets a notice that her landlord is going to raise her rent and she is not sure that she is going to be able to stay if her does, even if it is a good Christmas this year for her store. One day Christina is doing her usual shop stuff when she notices a small girl putting something in her pocket from one of the shelves. Instead of turning her in, Christina offers to let Wink work for her a few days in order to pay for the thing that she took.

Wink is excited just to be in the shop with Christina when she goes to do her time. In the midst of letting Wink work for her punishment, Christina meets her uncle Andy. Wink's mom had been in to tell Christina in no uncertain terms that she was not happy with what she was doing for Wink and was very rude to her. That is where Andy comes in and tries to smooth things over. Christina and Andy hit things off immediately. Christina soon discovers that her landlord is Wink's grandfather.

Will the scrooge of Christmas (the landlord/grandpa) really ruin Christmas for everyone or will they be able to move on and have on of the most memorable Christmas' ever? You will get lost in this sweet Nantucket town with Christina and Andy and of course sweet Wink. Thanks for a great read Nancy Thayer!

I've heard good things about Nancy Thayer, but I just couldn't get into this one. The story was charming enough - just not for me. I wasn't able to finish this one, unfortunately.

My Review: I have never read any of Nancy Thayer's books, but I have always wanted to pick one up because of the local setting. So what better way to kick off my reading than a holiday book?! Admittedly, I have never been to Nantucket, but I am familiar with the small isolated island setting with the huge class difference. I really appreciated the spin that Thayer put on the billionaire romance and the scrooge element as well. It was fun to see those familiar tropes twisted a little. I really enjoyed Christina's character she was sweet but had a level of determination I love for my female characters. Andy was great but just a little lackluster for me, he almost felt like a side character. The bright light in this one was without a doubt, Wink, she just brings that brightness and positive Christmas feeling to the story. This was a great book full of a variety of characters who really grew throughout the story.

My Rating: This was a great holiday read with some interesting twists on familiar romance and Christmas tropes. While the characters were a little flat, the setting really stood out. I give it a rating of Three Paws.

Perfect holiday setting. I have always been a fan of Nancy Thayer. The story starts off with a little girl in a toy shop.

This is a perfect book to curl up by the fire to give the holiday feels.

I’ve heard so many great things about Nancy Thayer’s books and I’m a holiday reads fanatic, so I was thrilled to get my hands on a copy of Let It Snow. Unfortunately though, it fell a bit flat for me. And while I’m not totally disappointed that I took the time to read it, it definitely won’t be one I find myself recommending.

I’ll start with what did work for me here. This book is filled with a whole lot of holiday charm and cheer. Between the stuff and fluff of the Christmas season like caroling, tree decorating, cookie baking, and so on... you’ll also find the pages filled with community and friends banding together and unexpected love, which made for a predictable yet heartwarming read. I also thought the whole black and white lifestyle difference theme between the two main characters was totally believe and well portrayed. Seeing both to them give and let go for each other really was sweet, and it was this romance thread that I held onto through it all.

Now for what absolutely didn’t work for me. I could have completely done without the “inner Christina”. It was distracting and utterly annoying to me by the end. On top of that, there were enough characters I couldn’t click with or really stand that took away from my enjoyment of the story overall. I understand that not every character in a story is going to be likeable, and that’s usually done on purpose. But I think it was done too strongly here particularly in the case of Harriet, who’s terrible attitude and gold digging ways didn’t even feel realistic.

Could I see myself giving this author another try in the future? I think the writing and story held a lot of promise overall, so I would say absolutely, yes. This just wasn’t the book of hers to hook me.

Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

* Due to the nature of my review and the fact that I won’t be recommending this book, I’ve chosen not to review it on my personal blog and Goodreads, so as not diminish the author’s work.

Christina is preparing for the holidays at her Nantucket toy shop. Christmas is the busiest time of year for the “Shedders” aka group of little shacks where Christina and her friends have their businesses on the wharf. But when her scrooge of a landlord, Oscar Bittlesman, raises rent, this may be the last holiday they will ever have before they have to close up shop.

Chrstina hopes that under Oscar’s hard exterior, there is a warm heart. When she bonds with Wink, Oscar’s granddaughter who frequents the ship, it becomes clear that he may have a soft spot after all. And with the help of Wink’s uncle, who is charming and a very handsome bachelor, this may be the best Christmas any of them could have imagined.

Such a cute and heartwarming, holiday read! I love the Nantucket setting of Thayer’s novels. The writing flowed nicely and it was an easy and quick read! I read it in one sitting. Who can resist a handsome billionaire bachelor?? At first I wasn’t completely sold on Andy but he was so sweet to his niece Wink, it melted my heart! And he was also quite the gentleman! The ending will have you squeezing this book to your chest!

Thank you @randomhouse for the copy! This title is available now!

"Let It Snow" by Nancy Thayer is a quick, sweet read. I found the plot rather predictable and the chemistry between the main characters was non-existent. However, if you're looking for an easy romance to read at Christmastime, this is your book!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This review is going to take a look at Nancy Thayer's latest Christmas novel, Let It Snow. This book was released on October 15, 2019, so it's available for all of you looking for more holiday reads as we get closer to Christmas! I received an eARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Let It Snow is set on the lovely island of Nantucket, and follows shopkeeper Christina Antonioni, and her fellow three shopkeeper friends, and the family of their landlord--the Bittlesmans. Christina is a likable thirty year old woman who has recently lost both of her parents. She runs a toy store on the wharf in a shed with heat provided by an electric heater.

Every day for lunch she meets with the other wharf shopkeepers for lunch. Oscar Bittlesman has sent a letter to them all that he will be increasing their rent by 10%, a sum that will put them all out of business.

In time, Christina meets Wink, Oscar's granddaughter, and puts her to work in her shop. She also meets Wink's handsome uncle, Andy. Through the book Christina spends a lot of time with Wink and Andy, and falls for Andy. It's a cute story and it spends time showing what small town life on the island is like.

Much of the story is spent trying to get Oscar to realize what the wharf stores are like so he won't raise the rent. But honestly, the rent problem doesn't seem to be as realistic of a problem to me as the problems in the book from my review earlier this week. By the end of the book Christina is engaged to Andy and would no longer have the financial issues if Oscar raised the rent. Her fellow shopkeepers would have the problem, but because they aren't the main characters the consequences of the stores closing is glossed over.

Also, I had a hard time believing some things. Yes, she lives on a small island, but she's also thirty. I don't think that she was written like a thirty-year-old. Other than finding a partner, and having children her life is completely settled.

I enjoyed the romantic plot of Christina and Andy, and really enjoyed the storyline between Christina and Wink. I think readers looking for a light holiday romance would enjoy this.

Happy reading :)

Sweet story, perfect for Christmas time reading. I think the young girl Wink was a more interesting character than the main character. Overall, a good, easy story.

Such a cute and heart warming Christmas story! It had the expected predictability of a romance novel, a few twists for fun, and only a few typos.

I think the characters were likable, even grump Oscar Bittlesman, and were easy to warm to. A great seasonal read I'd recommend to others.

I enjoyed the story "Let it snow" by Nancy Thayer so much. It was the perfect before Christmas romance story. I felt deeply invested in Christina's story, both the romance and the job. The other characters in the book were well developed and were a crucial part of the story. I adored Wink, the little girl in the book. And loved the ending of the story. Definitely a feel good, easy to read book.

I received a reviewer copy of Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer from the publisher Random House Ballantine Books in exchange for an honest review.

What It’s About: Christina, owner of a toy store in Nantucket, is having her first Christmas without her parents and things are kind of crazy. The season starts with her meeting Wink, a young girl having a hard time with her parent's pending divorce and Christina becomes quite attached to her. However, Wink's grandfather Oscar is Christina's landlord is giving her a 10% rent hike that she can't afford, to make things more complicated, Christina just might have a thing for Andy, Wink's uncle and Oscar's son.

What I Loved: Guys, this is the perfect Christmas book. It's not an open door romance and feels cozy without feeling overwhelmingly cheesy. The problems the characters have are real and relatable problems. And the romance feels authentic and with chemistry. I ate it up.

What I didn’t like so much: This book can be a bit cheesy but I felt like it wasn't overwhelmingly cheesy.

Who Should Read It: People who want a great Christmas book. People who love stories on Nantucket (Elin Hilderbrand and Nancy Thayer fans looking at you). People who love cozy books.

General Summary: A comfy sweet Christmas read.

Nancy Thayer keeps her Nantucket setting for a Christmas-themed novel.
Christina runs a little shop down on the wharf. Both of her parents have died within the past year, so she is not really looking forward to the holidays.
A chance meeting with a young girl leads to making the acquaintance of the girl's uncle, Andy Bittlesman, son of a well-known real estate mogul, Oscar Bittlesman, who just happens to own the wharf where Beth's and three other little shops sit. These shops are little more than shacks, so when the old man threatens to raise their rent, it may mean curtains for their businesses. Christina and her friends are determined to fight back.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Christina and Andy is starting to heat up.
I love Nancy's books. Not a bad read among them.

Nantucket at Christmas time is an absolutely magical experience. Unless you own a toy shop, then it is hectic and chaotic. Christina Antonioni and her friends, the other shop owners, are gearing up for a busy holiday season. In the midst of the chaos, she catches a nine-year-old girl stealing a sticker book. It turns out the little girl, Wink, is her Scrooge of a landlord's granddaughter. Her parents are getting a divorce and she needs a distraction. It isn't long before Christina and Wink strike up a friendship. Then Wink's handsome uncle, Andy, enters the picture and Christina can't help but find herself smitten with him. But what kind of future can they have together, especially after his father raises the rent right before Christmas? Will Christina be able to show the Bittlesman family the true meaning of Christmas?

Oh how I love a good Christmas story. I may have even read this book during the commercials for a Hallmark movie. Yes, I am one of those people that loves all things Christmas. Christina Antonioni and Andy Bittlesman are good characters who you can't help but root for, even though Andy's father and sister are a bit more difficult to like. Oscar was just a grumpy old man and his daughter was too busy fighting for her marriage to be nice. The other cast of supporting characters are just as quaint, too. The other shop owners and then there is the Bittlesman housekeeper, who turns out to be so much more.

Bottom Line - There is only one way for a Christmas story to end and that is with a happy ending. Let it Snow is no different.

I believe you will really enjoy this book. The atmosphere is perfect, who could ask for me?
It's the holiday season on Nantucket . The shopkeeper is doing what she does best, stocking her toy shop for the holidays after all many come into her shop for last minute island related gifts.
First impressions really are wrong when she meets a young girl in her shop and thinks she comes from a bad family life. Befriending the child leads her to learn things about the child's family that take her by surprise.
A grumpy old man known for his temper, is there a chance we may see a softening in him this holiday season? A surprising twist,a sweet child,a surprise romance and the setting of the island make this a sure winning read.

Let It Snow is a cute story set in Nantucket during Christmas. I look toward to Thayer Summer and Christmas books every year. This book did not disappoint! The story reminds me of a Hallmark Christmas movie with its big rich man falling for small town local girl. Get it in the holiday spirit with this cozy read.
