Wow! What a thrilling story with twists at every turn. The mystery that plagues the investigators was so crazy that in the end I was completely shocked. The hero, Vaughn, was very likable and down to earth, but the heroine, Zoe, was very standoffish and stuck in the past. They were colleagues with benefits, but it seemed too mechanical and forced on her part. The murder mystery plot kept the story interesting and kept me guessing through the whole book. For that alone, it was definitely worth reading.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for review based upon my honest opinion.

This is the second book in the criminal profiler series, It seems like each book will have different characters with a central theme criminal profilers. In this book we find, Zoe Spencer, a criminal profiler who is re-creating a skull that is found by a reporter who is trying to get back in the game and is given a tip about a dead body. Zoe ends up teaming up with William von a detective who is heading up the investigation. The skull belongs to a girl missing about 20 years ago, when they go to tell her sister that they found her body the next thing they know the sister and her daughter are missing and bodies are starting to pile up. Everyone in this book is suspect and a good candidate for a suspect. As they race to try to put the pieces together and find out who is their criminal they are slowly falling for one another.

It was an enjoyable read, I enjoy a book where I cannot figure out who the correct suspect is at first guess. Lots of twists and turns, great characters and great storyline. Can’t wait for the next book in the series

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

This book was really good and I think it was the perfect sequel! Mary Burton really does have an interesting style as an author! And I am sure as hell the upcoming book is going to be as great as this one!

A thriller that is also a romantic suspense. I’m a big fan of this author and the second book in this series is fantastic. I love the characters and the storyline had me hitting the page turn on my kindle to see what was happening next. This is one series I definitely recommend so add it to your TBR lists!!

This book was AMAZING!! Exactly what I was looking for..

I haven’t read anything from this author before but I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

This book was filled with mystery and suspense and was a great thriller. There was even a small romance storyline built into it. This book had me guessing all the way through.

If you are a fan of a mystery/suspense thriller this is a book you need to check out!!

A police procedural in its core, “I See You” is also the story of a sleepy little town where murder and mayhem were not supposed to happen. But, it did and the police though fully capable and equipped might have been too late.

Both Zoe Spencer and William Vaughan are highly qualified investigators. Zoe is an FBI profiler currently working a desk job while recovering from a case related accident. William was a retired big city homicide detective and currently the sheriff of small-town Alexandria, Virginia.

For both Zoe and William, the discovery of the remains of a local girl who disappeared a decade ago was a cold case. But, as their investigation went deeper, it became obvious that the perpetrator was still very active. And with the discovery of more bodies, the crime became more horrific.

“I See You” is not for the faint of heart. As author Mary Burton had mentioned in an interview, this villain is the most chilling yet.

While reading, I kept on trying to guess who the villain is. But, there were so many twists and turns that you will just keep on guessing until the villain was revealed.

A great read! If you can’t find time to read it because of the holidays, please make sure it is on your To Be Read List when January 2020 rolls around.

“I See You” is Rated T for Teens. Parental guidance is strongly advised due to violence and some sexual content.

I LOVE crime stories. I might be a little obsessed with Dateline, 20/20, Snapped...you get the idea. So when this book was offered to me to read I was excited do get into it. The into to the book got my attention right away but sadly from that point forward the book was so incredibly boring. Too much fluff and fillers and not enough believable detective work. Then when the crime story started to come to a head and give you the answers you deserved after getting through this book....MADE NO SENSE. Plot holes and so much lacking of explanation. Left me saying BUT WHY constantly. Just overall not an enjoyable game experience. Gave 2 stars for the cover and the beginning.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book.

This was an enjoyable read with excellent pacing but did not quite hit the spot. Why? It was certainly not the premise which was comprehensively summarised in the blurb for this book. A crime novel with forensic anthropology as a core element in the plot certainly captured my imagination but my main problem was with the characters. They were not quit real to me and needed more fleshing out to realise their potential as drivers in an otherwise imaginative plot. All in all the novel was not quite cohesive and the killer did not seem fully realised from the author’s imagination.

A nice, quick read but not an unmissable book.

I admit, ever since reading one previous work of this author, I was very excited for this book. This is the second book in her Criminal Profiler series but both books feature two different sets of characters and cases so this could be read as a standalone if one wishes. Having read and loved the first book, I was happy to dive right into this one.

For the sake of complete honesty, I will say that while I enjoyed this book very much, it wasn’t as good as its predecessor. BUT, I did go through the story with utmost curiosity, reading it quickly and easily till the end.

I liked the main characters and their chemistry—for those who don’t know, there’s also a bit of romance between the main two people investigating the crime. The book has many dialogues in it that makes it fairly easy to read and not so much so that it’s distracting. The case is interesting and it branches out to years past. But honestly, like I said earlier, it just missed the mark for me at the end. So close though! I still enjoyed the story as a whole, and liked the play on morality in the end, but I couldn’t help but feel like some things were missing.

I still recommend this book to those who like a solid thriller, one with a touch of romance as well.

Another great read from Mary Burton featuring FBI special agent Zoe Spencer. Zoe uses skeletal remains to recreate the faces of the dead and to seek justice.
Great character development and plot line. This story kept me on edge and wanting for more. Recommended.

*I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC for a review. This is the 2nd book in the Criminal Profiler series. FBI special agent Zoe Spencer uses skeletal remains to recreate the faces of murder victims through sculpture. This series seemed similiar to another one I loved, so I was interested in reading it. Zoe and homicide detective William Vaughan begin to solve a decades old cold case things suddenly take off. The plot keeps you interested, and guessing. This is a series I will keep reading!

FBI Special Agent Zoe Spencer has a gift of revealing who the people are behind the skeletal remains through sculpture. The process is scientific but also intimate and sensitive to the degree that Zoe always gets attached to the people she is identifies and tries to get justice for. When she gets some remains that go back to a decade old cold case, she finds herself into a case that has more victims than they imagined. As Zoe travels to the victim’s hometown and finds herself enmeshed in a case that will bring danger to her door. Time’s running out and it’s up to Zoe and her on/off lover, homicide detective William Vaughn to bring the killer to justice…if they can stay alive to do that.

Wow is all I can say about the latest thriller from Mary Burton. Filled with twists and turns you don’t see coming, the author does an amazing job in capturing the reader’s attention right off the bat. I SEE YOU is an action-packed thrill ride from start to finish and I was glued to the pages along side William and Zoe as they raced against the clock for a killer determined to keep them from catching them. The action started right off the bat and I loved how the author kept the reader in the dark about the case as Zoe and William got deeper into it, making those twists that showed up all more intriguing and surprising. The author does a great job in capturing the suspense of the case and the characters at center of said cold case kept me guessing till the very end.

I SEE YOU is one that is multilayered and will keep the reader glued to the edge of their seats till the very twisty end. I loved how the author kept me in the dark on who the killer was and why. I found it to be quite a surprise and one I sure did not see coming. The characters were intriguing, multilayered and complex. I liked knowing more about Zoe’s job in the FBI and found it fascinating to see how the process comes about. The author does a great job in keeping the reader guessing and I, for one, can’t wait to see where the author goes next in the series. The cold case is interesting and intriguing as all the players made themselves known and kept me flipping the pages to see what would happen next.

If you enjoy a complex thriller with intriguing characters, then grab this author’s newest book, I SEE YOU, second in the Criminal Profilers series. Each book is a standalone, so you don’t really have to read book one, Hide and Seek, to get the sense of the series at all.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement

Mary Burton never disappoints and this novel is no exception. Zoe, a FBI criminal profiler, and Vaughan , a homicide detective, investigate a cold case and a current serial killer. The mystery goes round and round and clues implicate various characters before the resolution. There is just enough romance to keep it interesting! I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. Highly recommended

I See You by Mary Burton is the second book in the thrilling romantic suspense Criminal Profiler series. Each of the books in this series and others by the author change the main characters of the book giving readers a whole new romance plot while loosely connecting the cases. The characters in the first book of this series actually came from another Mary Burton series but even with all the crossover book to book or series to series these can be read as a standalone or out of order and understood if choosing to do so.

I See You introduces special agent Zoe Spencer with the FBI who not only works cases bit is often used as a skeletal reconstruction specialist when there is not another way to identify a victim. Zoe had just finished up reconstructing a skull which led to finding it belonged to a teenage girl from an old cold case.

As Zoe heads to the girls hometown and begins to investigate she finds herself crossing paths with homicide detective William Vaughan. The two have a history together being what some would call friends with benefits and diving into the case brings those moments to light. In the middle of the cold case investigation the pair also discover they may have an active serial killer on their hands to track down.

One of the things I love with a Mary Burton title is that while they are romantic suspense she still has a great grasp on the thrilling side of the story instead of letting the steamier side take over. These characters also had an established beginning which I enjoy too so we don’t dive into an uncomfortable insta-love area and just let things grow as the focus stays on the crime at hand for a good portion of the story making this another solid installment to the series.

Loved this book. Was first time I've read a Mary Burton book and I'll definitely be looking out for her books in future. Complex characters that make you care. Praise for Mary Burton

This story was a little bit harder for me to get into, I had a hard time connecting with Agent Spencer. She seemed too closed off for my liking, but once I started getting into the story I gradually began to warm up to her. I really enjoyed the mystery in this one.

The romance is slow-burn between FBI Agent Zoe Spencer and Homicide Detective William Vaughan. Granted, the protagonists have a history together, but what is currently a "friends with benefits" relationship evolves to something more the longer they work this case and by the end of the story.

It was well written, the characters were enjoyable and the story was engaging.

I’ve read Mary Burton books before and enjoyed them. This followed in her previous story plans, romance and a killer.
FBI Agent Zoe Spencer recreates faces of those that have died to help identify them and solve their deaths. She’s helped by Homicide Detective William Vaughn. The case is a cold one involving the death of a now identified teenager. The question is who killed her and are they still active.
This was an easy enjoyable read with no unexpected twists. I look forward to the next novel.

Another well written thrill seeker starring Zoe. She goes from a cold case to current case. Which leads her back to her on again off again beau William.

4 stars
Another strong winner from Mary Burton.
I love she uses the method of recreating a victim by sculpting her face. This causes a looking into the cold case and it leads our gal to the location of a past relationship with another colleague.

The mystery is something which looks like more violence has continued and maybe the romance will highten between these two will happen.
