In “Stealing Her (Covet #1)” by Rachel Van Dyken we are thrown into the lives of twins Bridge and Julian. When their parents get divorced, they are separated with each going with one parent and raised in two totally different worlds. But years later when Julian gets in a horrible accident Bridge needs to step up to the plate to not only save what his twin has worked his whole life for but to save their mom. But stepping in to pretend to be Julian does not turn out as expected – mainly because of Isobel – Julian’s ex-fiancée.

You will have to read the book to see what actually happens with the unplanned love triangle. I am a big fan of Rachel Van Dyken and while the story was a little unbelievable at times it was also a fun read. Looking forward to Covet #2.

I received this book through Net Galley and this is my honest review

First book by Rachel Van Dyken and defiantly won't be the last. Loved this story! It was something completely different from any romance I've read before.
Twins who were once close then be OK separated after their parents divorce and end up living totally different lives. Julian who went to live with his rich dad and does anything he can to seek his father's approval. Bridge living with his sick mum works upto 3 jobs to pay for her medical bills. Julian gets involved in an accident and his manipulative father gets Bridge to step into Julians life to protect the company they own from snowballing. He does this whilst trying to not fall in love with Julians fiance.
Fabulous story loved the characters. You can really get a few for the turmoil Bridge is going through. Can't wait to read more by Rachel

The blurb totally sucked me into this book. I loved the idea about a twin pretending to be their sibling. It was a bit unrealistic, but I did really enjoy the switcharoo storyline.

I loved Bridge’s character. He was a respectable hero and he had good reasons for participating in the deceit. I was rooting for him the whole way through.

Isabel was a bit harder to love. I just wanted her to stick up for herself and tell Julian to go take a hike. But, if she had done that, there would have been no story.

I don’t know how I feel about Julian. He was kind of the bad guy in this, but it did seem that he may not have been as bad as we are lead to believe. I’m thinking the author has plans for him in a future book.

The father. No redeeming qualities and I wanted to him to get his due.

Overall, a drama filled story that was pretty darn enjoyable.

Julian and Bridge are twins. When their parents divorced as teens, Julian stayed in wealth and luxury with his father and Bridge went with his mother to poverty. A decade later, Julian is at the helm of the family business with his father and Bridge is taking on 3 jobs to help pay his mother expensive medical bills. That all changes when Julian is in an accident and his father offers Bridge something he can't refuse to step into Julian's shoes until he is ready to lead again. Of course, we can't forget about Julian's fiance Isobel. What will become of her?

To me, this was a unique spin on the twin story. It is not often that you read about male twins switching places, normally it is the females who do this. Also, I loved the characters. Bridge tries his best to keep everything running for his brother and making the legacy strong for Julian is his priority. He never loses himself in the greed and selfishness surrounding him. Isobel is in a hard place, she has been unhappy for a long time and was planning on leaving Julian. Now, he has changed and she can't figure out why. I didn't like how much of herself she gave up for Julian but I like that her spunk is coming back.

Overall, a great story with great characters. A fun read for anyone looking for a romance with a little bit of a different spin.

"She clung to me like I was hers. And I held her like she was mine."

I was beyond intrigued when I read the synopsis for this story. Twins? Hells yeah! I devoured this book, glued to my Kindle, unavailable to the rest of the world until I turned the last page. It was that good!

This story is kinda like Parent Trap meets Dynasty. Twin brothers separated from each other when their parents divorce each other. There's pain and betrayal and anger and desperation involved. Julian is with the ruthless rich father and is raised to eventually take over his corporation. He had the best of the best as far as material things go. But, what he wants the most is his father's approval.

The other twin is with their mother. He had none of the material things, working three jobs to care for himself and his mother. Always struggling and worried about their future. He feels abandoned by his twin, but he also feels guilty for not being there to look out for him. Though they are the same age, he was minutes older and bigger, and stronger.

The last thing he wants is to help his heartless father, but he can't resist the chance to save the company for Julian. Though his brother seems to have forgotten he exists, he can't escape the guilt he feels for not keeping the promise he made in their youth to always protect him.

It seemed like a good idea at the time... until her. How the hell is he supposed to protect his heart while protecting his brother's future? How can he live with himself for betraying her trust by pretending to be her fiancé? He's supposed to give her back when his brother recovers, but what he really wants to do is steal her for himself.

This tantalizing tale put me through the wringer as I worried and waited for all the neatly placed cards to fall. I admit to having negative feelings about Julian based on other people's memories and encounters with him. Since he was injured and unavailable for me to get to know I kind of tagged him the 'evil twin'. I know, not cool, right? But, it was my way of giving the other twin permission to fall in love so I didn't join him in the 'guilt game'. Trust me, once you get a taste of the electricity sparking between them you'll feel the same way. They need to be together. But... "Not all stories end happy. Some end messy."

So, prepare yourselves, "—strap the hell in." It's so good I didn't want it to end. I'm consoling myself with the fact that it's only the first installment in the Covet series so there will be more to come. The line forms here...

This book was addicting! I loved reading about the family betrayal and lies, while also capturing loyalty and forgiveness. I can't wait to see what Rachel Van Dyken does to redeem characters in the next book! I look forward to reading more from this series and recommend it to anyone who loves romance.

Stealing Her by Rachel Van Dyken
The latest book by Rachel Van Dyken, the first in the Covet series, can only be described as WOW! Stealing Her is heart wrenching and sad story but intriguing at the same time. As always Van Dyken writes a powerful story that will sucker punch you in the gut. This book didn’t seem like the usual writing style of Van Dyken as it was a little more on the darker side, not as in sinister, but sadder than what she normally writes. Hats off to Stealing Her another 5-star read by Rachel Van Dyken.
Bridge and Julian Tennyson have been separated for years. The once best friends/brothers are now adults and having grown apart, the rift bigger than either one ever imagined. Tragedy strikes and Bridge’s estranged father shows up needing his son’s help. Bridge needs to take his twin brother’s place at the company and help complete a cooperate take over, so the public doesn’t know that Julian’s life is hanging on by a thread. All Bridge must do is pretend to be Julian at the office and live his life, including living with Julian’s fiancée. Isobel Cunningham is confused by the change in the man that she was supposed to marry. He looks the same and sounds the same but he’s acting different. Mr. Tennyson is pushing for Isobel and Julian to marry as soon as the takeover is finished but how can she after all the hurtful things he’s done, but he seems to be almost like the man she fell in love with. Bridge must get Isobel to go through with the marriage so he can complete his obligation but how does he do that without feeling guilty for Stealing Her away from the brother he was supposed to protect?

I absolutely loved this book. I really don’t know what else to say! There were so many emotions but not too angsty. I can’t wait for book two.

What an amazing read! I went in blind and absolutely loved this forbidden storyline with twists and turns that keep you hooked until the last page! There’s sizzling hot chemistry and angst between the characters. A must read!!

Stealing Her by Rachel Van Dyken a four-star read you will want to steal. This is number one in the Covet series and I am excited to see what happens next as it shows great promise to be a great series as it has good bones, just missed a little something. Bridge and Julian are so unlike each other, true opposites, I enjoyed reading Bridge for the most part, but I didn’t enjoy Julian as much for most of the story. This is a beautiful bit not always easy story; the emotional story is rich and compelling but the POV of multiple people was well done and will keep you reading. I was so close to giving this five-stars, but it just missed a little something.

Holy moly, what a book! Such a twisty story, you won’t know which way is up, but I was totally and completely hooked right from the start! I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series!

This book had me all over the damn place. From feeling hopeful to uncomfortable to practically swooning with glee, my emotions were put through the wringer in Stealing Her. The reason for this was my simultaneous adoration for the characters as well as slight repulsion at what they were doing. I wanted them to have their happily ever-after and yet I acutely disliked the only means in which they could attain it. Despite the emotional roller-coaster and the fact that I hadn’t read one of her novels in years, Rachel van Dyken has impressed me again after all of this time.

The story follows Bridge and Julian Tennyson. Twins - brothers -separated by divorce, betrayal and years of anger. When Julian is injured in a car accident, it’s up to Bridge to assume the role as CEO and save the company from the assured stock-market and investor loss that is associated with instability in a multi-billion dollar corporation. What Bridge hadn’t anticipated in his attempt to preserve everything his brother had worked so hard for was Julian’s fiancé.

Isobel has lost everything she once held dear. Her family, her independence and her love for Julian. As an orphan taken in by the Tennyson’s, Isobel owes her high-fling lifestyle all to their generosity. With the expectation to be the perfect trophy wife, of course. After all, nothing in life comes for free. Her once soaring love for Julian had long since dwindled and in its place was a woman who hadn’t experienced kindness in a long time. I found myself hoping that she would gain back her youthful confidence that we’d been shown glimpses of. While she did, it was done in a co-dependent manner that I wasn’t a complete fan of. She deserved to gain back her career, independence and self-sufficiency. This wasn’t really addressed and it left me feeling disappointed.

When Bridge assumes his façade of being Julian Tennyson, he’s expected to ensure Isobel is kept in the dark. The return of kind, considerate and playful Julian (AKA Bridge) is enough to re-establish Isobel’s feelings however, she’s not aware that they’re for the wrong guy!

What ensued was a daringly honest, controversial story of falling in love with the wrong person. What I adored about this story (and similarly was uncomfortable by) was the way in which the author highlighted the imperfections and flaws in each character. This was not an insta-love. Nor was it a relationship I could wholeheartedly get behind. It was gritty, emotional and a little bit raw. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

My reason for only giving it four stars was the fact that I couldn’t get over Bridge and Isobel’s actions without yelling CHEATER in my head – even though I wanted them to have a happy ending. I’m also a sucker for being a fan of the underdog. While Julian was the underdog in this case, he was painted a bit too harshly in my opinion. He was condoned for cheating and yet Bridge and Isobel were doing exactly that. They were all cheaters. They were all a result of shitty childhoods and troubled pasts. I felt like Julian should have been given a bit more empathy and slack in his portrayal. I hope the next book follows him and we get to see his story turn in to a happier one.

Wowza! What an phenomenal read. RVD has packed this book with so many different emotions. Stealing Her is unputdownable.

Bridge Anderson never thought that he would have to be a stand in for his twin. Once the two brothers went in different directions, there were many years of hate and resentment that Bridge had for Julian. Even though he had vowed to protect him always.

Isobel Cunningham is over her fiancé. She’s ending things because she is over the lies, cheating and control. Until an accident happens and Julian comes home completely different. He comes back as the man she loved before the trust fund. Even though she knows there is something different about him.

We follow as Bridge, steps into Julian’s life, his work, his clothes, his home and as he falls for his fiancé. But when Julian awakes, everything changes.

I honestly loved everything about this book.

Highly recommended.

OMG! What did I just read? Rachel Van Dyken has done it again. She is an automatic one click for me. I requested this on Netgalley before I ever saw a blurb.

I couldn’t put it down. I had to keep reading to see what was going to happen next.

I don’t even know what to say in this review.

I felt for Bridge, Julian, and Izzy. All three were put in a bad situation by someone who was suppose to love them.

Bridge was definitely in the worst position.

Betrayal, guilt, love…He deals with it all.

Julian was completely in the dark. But is is his fault what happened between him and Izzy.

Izzy was just stuck. She did seem a little weak at first. But she was broken and scared. I loved watching her heal.

I love what happened when Julian and Bridge teamed up.

I want Julian to get a book. He deserves some happiness also.

I'm a huge Rachel Van Dyken fan and this book did not disappoint me. A woman fighting for her voice to be heard and to be treated better and a man fighting for his mom, while thinking he's helping his brother. Of course until it all blows up. Ugh...the dad in this book I wanted to strangle.

I had dual opinions on this book- on one hand, I loved Bridge. On the other, Isobel was painful. I couldn't wrap my mind around how she was so easily fooled, people don't just show up one day with a six pack and tattoos (I mean, I wish). She was such a doormat when it came to the Tennyson family I couldn't even sympathize with her. The only ones I felt bad for were Bridge for being forced into that position, and Julian eventually. It sort of felt like Izzy was getting what she deserved for being a weenie. I went back and forth between 3 stars and 4, but I did find the book enjoyable outside of Izzy, and Bridge was perfection so I rounded up to 4. I will be very interested to read Julian's story in the future.

4.5 stars!

This was a great story that had some twists and turns. Bridge hasn't seen his identical twin brother in years, not since they were ripped apart in middle school. When their parents divorced, they each got a child and that was that. Years pass and when an accident occurs Bridge is asked to do the unthinkable, but for the sake of his brother and his mom, he gives in. Running a multi-billion dollar company, be near his father and try to do what is best for his brother.

Living your brothers life is never what he intended or wanted to do, nor was keeping secrets from his brothers fiance. Except, it seems its best for Izzy not to know the truth about things.

Izzy has done everything for Julian and stood by his side until she couldn't anymore, unfortunately, ending her engagement the same day her fiance gets in an accident, she isn't sure what to do. When he recovers and she starts seeing the old Julian she can't help but fall in love all over again. Remembering the times when he would chose her over his father and the company, would it last? How would she feel when she finds out her fiance isn't who she thought he was?

This was a great story and I look forward to the next book in the series!

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of my favorite authors so being a big fan I get super excited when I am selected to review her books.

This story starts out with two twin brothers who are separated as teenagers and pretty much cut out from each others lives. Julian remains with his jerk of a father and is extremely wealthy while Bridge is sent to live with his mother. On to the future where we come to Julian who is engaged to Izzy, has a beautiful apartment, and is set to take over the family business. Then there is Bridge who is working up to three jobs just to pay the bills and try to pay for his moms medical treatments. An accident happens and Bridge is forced to take over Julian's life and deceive not only the public but Izzy as well.

I really love the romance between Bridge and Izzy. Izzy who had broken off the engagement right before the accident is beginning to fall for who she thinks is Julian all over again. Bridge falls hard and fast for Izzy and struggles with the fact that he is betraying his brother.

This book is filled with lies and deception and has you rooting for Bridge and Izzy. If RVD wants you to fall for a guy... then you do. It's not all the lightness and humor that we see with a lot of her books but that's why I like her because she can switch up her writing styles and still be successful.

Happy Reading!!
