The book was a little confusing at first but I enjoyed the characters. I think my confusion mostly came from the lack of knowledge on Jewish background. A lot of the words would confuse me because they were Hebrew(?) words. But other than that, this book was good. I like the mild fantasy feel but it was a very spiritual experience I wasn’t expecting. Coming from a non-religious person.
Again this is a book that I have been unable to finish reading due to circumstances in my personal life.
I have started this and it was really promising. Quite easy to get into. However,I just never had the chance to finish this and now the book is no longer available for me to read.
This one was just not for me. I didn't realize it was a sequel so I was very lost. I will have to read the first one and come back around to it!
An enjoyable read of supernatural thriller. The writing was simple but I enjoyed myself a great deal and found myself really invested.
This book was a real let down for me.
I wasn't engaged at all through this story and so I have chosen to DNF this after reading 182 pages of this 364-page book.
This book has 85 chapters. That’s quite a lot for one book. I’m only half way through it, but I find it boring. Maybe it’s because it hasn’t had a content edit yet. The Righteous One has many references to the practice of Kabbalah in the protagonist’s life. Kabbalah is a part of Judaism, but not necessarily studied by Orthodox Jews from what I understand. However, there’s ancient Kabbalah and then modern. This leans modern with seeking advice from mediums to dream interpretation. Though it’s fictional, some may think Hashem is okay with the mediums part when He’s not. Ultimately, the tzaddik must defeat the rasha and this is the protagonist’s journey. Other than that, some harsh cursing from the antagonist is prevalent as their paths begin to cross. Overall, I can’t imagine it becoming better at this point so I am leaving this book.
