I have to admit that one of the reasons why I keep on requesting the Barbour Brides collection via Netgalley is because I look forward to the stories from the Oregon trails. I am curious about the personal motivation and circumstances that led them to make the perilous cross-country move.

In this collection, readers will encounter nine women on the western frontier in different phases of their lives and decide to head west for a fresh start in the 1850s. Along the way, they meet love and tragedy and have to make important decisions that will their journey. My favourite story was Dianne Mills' Daughter of the Wind that sees Lane and Deborah lead group of young children through the wilderness after their caravan is hit by a tornado.

The Oregon Trail Romance Collection is a great read for the late summer-early fall. that will give you a boost of inspiration. Readers (especially Americans) will appreciate the sacrifices that their ancestors made to build their nation. The grit exhibited by the characters will inspire readers to take up new challenges.

This collection had everything. I laughed, I cried and I constantly found myself entertained. I was familiar with many of the various authors, but there was a few new ones for me. I love to be able to sample a new author by reading a novella in a collection like this. What I found interesting, this collection was about the Oregon Trail and the hardships the pioneers all faced. Even though the subject matter was the same, each author told the story in their own voice, so the story never got old. This is a part of history that I love to hear about, I am fascinated by it.
