Abbi Glines has always been a favourite author of mine. When I found out that she was writing another book in this series I was excited. She did have two of the books in the series that weren't as amazing as her first two but I still loved them.

I loved Making A Play. I was so happy when Ryker was getting his own book. He was always there in the background in the other books and you knew that he was coming soon.

Ryker and Aurora were so cute together. I love a good book that has a compelling story line with essentially a brothers best friend, they are my kryptonite.

I overall enjoyed this book and was so sad it ended. It has the perfect amount of swoon and as always Abbi wrote an amazing story

This was such a cute, football romance. The characters were real, relatable, and vulnerable which made this story so much better.

Aurora was such a strong character. She didn’t use her disability as a crutch, and she didn’t allow others to treat her differently either. She had a backbone.

Ryker is your typical hot shot player. He has never had to worry about consequences and lives his life to the fullest. It isn’t until recent events that he starts to second guess his past behavior.

These two together have an insta-love connection. They hit it off right from the start and their whirlwind romance has many obstacles that they must overcome.

I have loved reading this series and this one did not disappoint. The only thing I wish was different was the ending. The outcome was perfect, but I wish it didn’t end in such a rush. I felt like there could have been a couple more chapters to show what happens a little farther into the future. I wasn’t done with this story, and I wanted more.

This was undoubtedly my favorite book of the whole Field Party series! Abbi delved into an issue that is as real and true today as it was years ago. Ryker and Aurora's story was amazing in so many ways. There was so many differences between the two that at first I really didn't see how they were going to make it. But Abbi did what Abbi does best, wove a story that touched my heart and made the impossible, possible. Making a Play just reminded me how talented Abbi Glines is as a writer.

Making the Play is the fifth book in The Field Party series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I thoroughly enjoy all the characters that have been introduced to us in the previous books. Unlike the first three books in the series I would say the fourth and fifth book are written in a tight sequence. If you can, give Losing the Field a read as well! Ryker Lee isn’t a new character, but he is finally the main character in The Field Party series, and it is about time. Ryker is a well-known football player that is known for his speed not only on the field, but with the ladies as well. In the past Ryker’s reputation hasn’t been so golden, but that all changes when the new quarter back’s sister Aurora McClay comes to town. Aurora is not the same as other girls that Ryker usually goes for. She is different. She isn’t as experienced, she is meek and not as forward, and she is also deaf. Ryker’s character has gone through tremendous changes in book four and now five of the series, and he now finds himself drawn to Aurora where as in the past he may not have. As with any Abbi Glines The Field Party series books, this book isn’t just about football and young love. This book dives deeper to interracial relationships, and deaf culture. This book doesn’t have a lot of sexual references, and because of that I would recommend it to a mature 12-13 and up crowd. Overall, I loved the story!

Abbi Glines has release another book in The Field Party series. And I am super excited! Like I just love Abbi Glines and I never get disappointed at all.

Making A Play will introduce Nash Lee cousin, Ryker Lee, and he falls hard. Ryker Lee is very known as player in high school. He prefers especially since he has football to focus. But things alway change when you meet the one which will be Aurora (Hunter twin sister). She definitely change the game for Ryker. And he has no problem with it. But there will be some complications for him with Aurora. His reputation will put his relationship at risk. And he will face some prejudice too with Aurora family. Life get hard but Ryker is determined to make it through and have Aurora with him.
Aurora is intelligent girl that people need to stop underestimate her. So what, she is deaf. She may be deaf but she is driven and smart that she can make it. People need to stop judging. Plus, she has Ryker falling for her. It is unexpected but she loves it no matter what people think. And there are people talking. Oh well.
Making A Play will bring two teenager together no matter what obstacle they face.
Four Stars

Ryker and Aurora was such a beautiful powerful story to read. From the moment we meet Aurora you can tell she is going to be special. I loved reading Ryker fall completely under her spell. There are some very real subjects dealt with in this book and Abbi does them justice. Another good book in this series.

"She reminded me of an angel . . . and I was closer to the devil. I could be her biggest mistake."

Making a Play had a beautiful cover, and even more beautiful story inside. I loved every last minute of this book! Once I started reading it I just could not stop. I swear The Field Party series only gets better and better with each installment. Making A Play was the perfect combination of determination, Football, and high school romance. I love how Abbi Glines doesn't back down from difficult subject matter. She embraces it head on, while handling it artfully. This book owned a piece of my heart with its scenes and mentions of North Carolina. It's always nice to see your home state used in the books you read. Ryker and Aurora are definitely one of my new favorite Abbi characters. These two could not have been more adorable together. They had me swooning so many times. While hitting me right in the feels. I love this book keeps you connected to its characters secondary and main. I loved getting to catch up with past field party characters. I cant wair too see whose atiry is next. Although I really hope it's Hunters story well be getting next! *wink wink*

"She tasted like honey and smelled like coconut. I couldn’t get enough of it. No one should taste and smell this good. It was unfair."

Aurora is one of those heroines you just immediately love. I could easily see myself being her friend in real life. She was a perfect mix of sweet, timid, and sassy! She knew what she wanted and would not settle for less. She was head strong and determined. I loved her unwillingness to back down for things that mattered. I admired her character on so many levels!! She truly is one of the strongest heroines I have read.

"I loved the color of his skin. It reminded me of a warm, deep, ebony. It was beautiful."

Ryker Lee is the perfect book boyfriend, and MINE! Seriously, I call dibs! He was nothing like I expected his character to be. He truly has come a long way from the boy we first met. Who knew the playboy was such a hopeless romantic at heart. He was like this big teddy bear you wanted to snuggle up to! Ryker had me swooning so many times throughout this book. He was charming, sweet and the perfect gentlemen.

“Find you a man who will build you a porch bigger than you need and smile while he’s doing it. That’s the keeper.”

*5 STARS*
Well earned for this love at first sight, sports romance. If you have not started the Field Party books you are truly missing out. Because I can NOT recommend reading this book enough. It's going straight into my best reads of 2019!

I really liked Ryker’s character and how he changes and grows. He sees the person he use to be and doesn’t like it once he meets Aurora, Hunter’s twin sister. Aurora is different from any other girl he’s met, she’s deaf. But she’s strong and doesn’t back down. She stands up for what she wants. I really liked her. She became more confident once she met Ryker. But once she’s faced with losing something she grows stronger and knows she can do anything if she can survive that.
Aurora is innocent but she’s willing to fight for what she wants and will figure a way to do so. I couldn’t believe Aurora’s father, how he’s so controlling and he’s a racist who doesn’t see past a persons skin color. I wish there had been more at the end and it hadn’t been wrapped up so quickly.
I highly recommend this book.

Abbi Glines makes me want to go back to high school and do it all over again. That's saying a lot, because I absolutely hated high school. These boys are so swoon worthy! Why were none of them in my high school?!

Aurora and Ryker have a love story filled with almost equal parts drama and happiness. As happy as they make each other you'd think people would be happy for them. However there sure are a lot of people trying to stand in their way of that newfound happiness. I just kept thinking why can't people just let them be?!

Aurora has a horribly controlling father, but she has a backbone! She stands up for herself and is one strong girl. I couldn't help but feel proud of her for not wanting to go along with her father's backwards ways. Ryker keeps trying to prove himself, trying to change her Dad's mind. Only time will tell if they can survive the drama and be happy together.

I was enjoying their love story so much. Enjoying how they were becoming better people for each other. Then Abbi sent my heart into a nosedive in the last half hour of the book. I'm pretty sure I didn't take a breath for that entire time!!! This is why I love Abbi's book, just when I think I know where the story is going she throws me for a loop.
This book was a perfect addition to the series. I only wish they came out faster because I want the next one right now.

THIS BOOK SPOKE TO ME! It was amazing! My family have all interracial relationships and they were faced with the same challenges. When it is worth the fight you just know. I love how Aurora stood up for herself. Being deaf isn’t the only thing that defined her. While Ryker knew that football wasn’t the only thing that defined him either. I’m glad teens can read this and relate it to it. It is good to learn these lessons as soon as possible. This was my MOST FAVORITE QUOTE in the book!!!! “Love was finding your own happiness in witnessing someone else’s. It was finding perfect peace in simply holding that person in your arms. Love was the sudden burst of joy from their smile.”
94% broke my heart and put it together again! This series just keeps getting better and better!!!! I’m in love... but it is Abbi soooo would you expect anything less? Lol

Abbi never fails to make me devour a book and give me all the feels at the same time. This book was no exception.

We've all met Ryker but do we really know the man he's grown up to be since first meeting him?

Aurora is Hunter's twin sister and now the new girl in Lawton but she's more unique than just being new to town. She's not only beautiful but deaf.

Ryker is in his senior year and has no reason to want something serious at this point in his life but he's also not the same kid he used to be.

The first day at school for Aurora is also the moment that changed Ryker's life. Instantly they are drawn to each other. Aurora being deaf doesn't stop them from communicating. Ryker even start to learn sign language but her being deaf and Ryker's past reputation isn't their only obstacle. Her father is controlling and doesn't want her dating someone of Ryker's skin color.

Will they able to beat their obstacles?

Abbi did a fantastic job of writing a story that deals with differences and issues that we are facing in the society today.

What an amazing book! Of course I don’t think there is a book that Abbi has written that isn’t. This is the fifth book in the series. This one is about Ryker and Aurora. Ryker being a player, not only on the football field but with girls, never thought that one look could change him. A green eyed beauty that made him not want to be the person he is, but someone so much better. Realizing how much of a jerk he really was was an eye opener. Aurora is new to Lawton. She is the twin sister of the Star QB, Hunter. But she is unique. She is deaf. And we see’s Ryker her world changed so much. He gave her the confidence to be herself and never once made her feel different due to her not being able to hear. Things that she didn’t do around other people, she felt comfortable enough doing with Ryker; such as , speaking out loud. The chemistry between them was instant. How eat each of them made the other such a better person. Aurora was warned about his past, but she didn’t care. This made Ryker do everything he could to not make any mistakes when it came to her. He even started to learn to sign. However, this was not the only hurdle they faced. Aurora couldn’t believe her father was against her dating a black boy. He was so against this, he sent her away. Ryker was a mess and Aurora was heart broken. But these two did find there way back to each other and her dad seemed to see what an amazing boy Ryker is and calmed down. This is another must read by Abbi. I loved it!!!

I received this ARC from the publisher.

Abbi Glines blew her Field Party series out of the water with this one! I once said book 1 and 3 were the best but I think this one officially takes the top. I found myself so sucked into this book. The issues at hand and the characters were just plain amazing.

When this book was announced, having a deaf girl play the main character made me so excited to read it. I couldn’t help but think that this is finally being done, and why there are not more characters in fiction with such characteristics. I found the mixture of communication methods that she chose to use really nice and I loved her spunk. She consistently fought back against Hunter’s protectiveness.

Ryker has been known in past books for playing the field and this begins to roll over into this book. Don’t believe in love at first sight? Well, Abbi makes you believe because one Rkyer sees Aurora, everything changes for him. He finds out when introducing himself to her on her first day, when she was alone, that she is deaf and this isn’t an issue for him. Instead he just says that he wishes he paid attention to the sign language classes from when they were kids and vows to learn it for her. (Don’t mind me; just swooning here).

On top of Aurora, I love the book for the real life situations that we still do, unfortunately, find ourselves in. Their first hurdle is ensuring they communicate well with one another. They got that fixed real quick. The second being that Hunter and Aurora’s father is racist and will refuse that Aurora and the black Ryker dates. So much of the book they hold off saying anything to him until after Ryker plays the big game.

My only complaint against this book would be that I found the entire thing to go so quick. The entire book occurs within a week, with the ending happening after a small gap. Which you’ll see why, once reading it.

Overall though, I enjoyed this one so much and can’t wait to see what else, and who else, Abbi will bring to the Field Party world.

I loved this book, I couldn’t put it down. All the challenges the characters faced in this book, set it apart in a wonderful way. My favorite line from the book was “ can I keep you?” After everything that happened it is such a sweet question. Can’t wait to see what’s next in the series.
