I enjoyed this book, however, it was very predictable. I felt like I spent the whole time waiting for what I knew was going to happen and that kind of made it a bit of a hard one to actually get stuck into because it was so obvious from the start. However, I liked Eve, I thought she made a great main character and I loved her relationships for example her Gran but oftentimes I felt like there was more that could have been given - at times characters felt introduced and then forgotten about - for example the dad who was on the run, he was there for quite a few parts and then never mentioned again, it makes me question what his relevance was or was it just filler information.

The book was a good one and definitely a light hearted read that I could recommend however I do not think I would personally read it again. It was your basic chic lit, which I enjoyed but I feel like more and more these types of books now have that extra 'something' that this one was just missing.

I unfortunately can't read this book. I was really looking forward to it, because it sounds so cute, but the format of this ARC is unreadable for me. With missing punctuation and spaces and errant sentences, my eyes won't flow to read it properly. I'll have to get it when it comes out.

This story is a real charmer. Eve had a promising future in archeology, but put that all aside to be a mother to her niece, Caitlyn, after the tragic death of her sister, Faye. After sacrificing her own hopes and dreams for nearly twenty years, Eve finds herself at a crossroads, and then comes face to face with her great love, Paddy Friel, again.
This is a truly heartfelt and romantic story, with a touch of humor. My kind of book. Thank you, Net Galley, for this opportunity, which I was given in exchange for my honest review.

Eve had to give up her dream of being an archaeologist to look after her young niece Caitlyn when her sister Faye died. Eve's boyfriend Paddy after initially seeming to be happy with the arrangement suddenly left, causing heartbreak to both Eve and Caitlyn.
17 years later Eve has been working as a School Administrator and has not kept in contact with Paddy at all, whilst he has enjoyed a career in television as a presenter of archaeological programmes. Caitlyn has now grown up and is leaving for a job in Paris, she gives Eve 12 vouchers which she uses to encourage her to try to start enjoying her life.
When Eve meets with Paddy again she doesn't disguise how much she hates him for leaving them all those years ago, however as circumstances keep bringing them together she gradually starts to see a different side to him and the startling reason for him leaving. With the vouchers prompting her to start putting herself first can she start creating a new life for herself?
I really enjoyed this story of love and forgiveness, showing that there are two sides to every story and I ended up keeping awake far later than normal just so that I could get to the conclusion of the story.

It started off slow for me and I wasn’t connecting with the characters, but as the book went on it was a really adorable read.

I was really excited to read this book but the formatting made it unreadable. The lines were cut off and difficult to read. Words were missing spaces and scrunched together. (Note: Kindle edition)

This book was a nice one, and I liked how it touched a light on self help in our society today!

It was really well written and the author did a great job!

This is such a well written book! The story is really engaging and moving. I couldn’t put the book down til I finished it. In this age of ‘self-care’, I think this book captures that sentiment perfectly!

Wonderful story about forgiveness and second chances! Eve, a once upon a time archaeologist student gives up her dreams to raise her sisters child after her sister unexpectedly dies. She lives a life much different than she imagined but finds joy in motherhood though her heart aches for the things she’s lost in her short life. Her niece/daughter moves away to Paris for a year but gives her a gift of 12 “kindness vouchers” to fill out for each month she’s away- she’s to do one kind thing for herself. The book follows those vouchers and the choices Eve makes to find her way to happiness and satisfaction in her life and towards healing old wounds.

After reading Kate’s first book, I just couldn’t wait to see what she would come up with next and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Introducing Eve Roberts, a woman who has devoted the past seventeen years to raising her niece Caitlin. Caitlin leaves home to go and work in Paris, leaving Eve with a dozen chances to do something for herself and an empty nest of course. I loved the concept of Caitlin’s “Be Kind to Yourself” vouchers. This pushes Eve to put herself first which was amazing to see. I won’t go into the exact decisions she makes with these vouchers but it’s certainly interesting. She also bumps into a previous love. Well this is a whirlwind journey in itself! ❤️

Kate’s writing is so free flowing you don’t realise how quickly you turn the pages and how much you want to find out more about these interesting characters. Of course this story also has some unexpected family drama and secrets. I didn’t really know at some point how this was going to end.

All I can say to Kate is where is book three!?! I can’t wait to read all of her future stories. I highly recommend you go and curl up with ‘A Dozen Second Chances’ I give this beautiful story 4*/5* 😊

Thank you to One More Chapter for an advanced copy of this book via Netgalley.

A dozen second chances is a great engaging read that draws you in, fantastic characters particularly gran and paddy! Eve comes across as a slightly martyred individual initially but as the story progresses and the history of hers and paddys relationship becomes apparent you can understand why! Bringing up her niece Caitlin as her own and putting her own life on hold demonstrates her kindhearted nature! This book illustrates that we are all worthy of a second chance of love and romance and doing what makes us happy wether that be in love or life in general!
Thank you net galley for this early read much enjoyed!

An enjoyable read though I thought Eve was unexpectedly bitter and it didn’t fit with the overall character. I understand that it was drawn out for the story but it just didn’t feel like it fit Eve.

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book by Kate Field. Eve “gave her” her dreams of becoming an archaeologist when she had to raise her niece, Caitlyn. She also went through some tough situations. But she is being kinder to herself and writing to Caitlyn the ways she is doing that, to be held accountable. Second chances- where they are deserved- are wonderful!

Will post review to Amazon and Goodreads when the book is released.

My take on 'A Dozen Second Chances'- The honest and concise prose, engaging dialog, and educational narrative were the facets that gave this diamond its sparkle.

As hard as Eve was on the outside, I could empathize with her wounded heart. Caitlyn was a sweetheart and dear Gran ran away with more than her fair share of scenes. Above all, Paddy stole my heart. Good on him for being persistent. This story is as sweet as second chance romance gets.

Truthfully, this book crept up on me. I assumed I would like it—I did not. I LOVED IT! A brilliant gem!!! 5 stars does not do it justice.

Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and Kate Field for an ARC of 'A Dozen Second Chances' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
