I am a lover of all things Hallmark Channel, baking, romance, and gingerbread. And this book definitely has it all. I will admit that I did skip this movie last year when it premiered on Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas but I will be fixing that mistake very shortly. I am also a firm believer in enjoying Christmas movies all year long.

Taylor can't believe her promotion and dream job hangs in the balance of winning a giant gingerbread house making contest. She's an architect, not a baker. However, Taylor never backs down from a challenge and she's determined to win the contest with everything she's got.

Local baker and single dad Adam isn't sure what to make of the beautiful architect who desperately needs his baking expertise to win the the gingerbread contest for her firm. She's so driven he wonders if she even slows down to stop and smell the coffee. Or, in this case, the eggnog. Maybe a little Christmas magic will open Adam's heart to love again and Taylor's heart to having the one thing she's always wanted...

A home and family to call her own.

This is a charming read that all Hallmark fans are sure to enjoy. Like all Hallmark content, this book is appropriate for all ages with no violence, sexual content, or profanity to worry about.

And, if you enjoy this book, make sure to watch the Hallmark Channel Original Movie "A Gingerbread Romance."

Don't make the same mistake I did.

Do you have a dream? Have you found as life goes on that your perfect dream changes? This is a wonderful Christmas story with believable characters. Thank goodness first impressions aren’t always last impressions. Taylor had an interesting life growing up, but not one I think I would have wanted. Thank goodness for great parents. Adam has had to deal with some heartbreak and disappointment. I love watching these two and how they change and grow. You wouldn’t have a story without Brooke. What a loving child. If you enjoy a good Christmas story, I think you will love this one. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

A Book Bar Review ☕☕☕☕

As a fan of the Hallmark movie channel, I was pleasantly surprised that “A Gingerbread Romance” made the lineup. The book is based on the original Hallmark movie. After having the opportunity to experience both the book and movie, I have to say the book played heavier on my emotions.

I like that this one didn’t follow the traditional career paths of the hero and heroine and it didn’t take away from their character. Taylor Scott, in high demand as an architect is more focused on being successful and chasing the next promotion that would take her to Paris. She is no stranger to traveling, since she has been doing it all her life. Not much of her childhood and/or adulthood painted a picture of traditions, that included Christmas.

Her boss recommends she enter into a contest to design a sleek and innovative gingerbread house that would show off her skills and if won, would be a shoe in for the Paris gig. Not willing to back down from a challenge she accepts and jumps all in. The team was to consist of an architect and a baker…here is where things shift. When the original baker falls through, she is left at the mercy of the one person that if she could help wouldn’t lay eyes on again, Adam Dale.

When she finally catches up with Adam, she tries to persuade him to assist her in the contest. Adam, like Taylor is very good at what he does, but isn’t interested in joining any kind of partnership with her. It took the sparkle in his daughter’s eye at the mention of him having the opportunity to show off his skills as a baker to build the life size gingerbread house. Not wanting to disappoint his little girl, he begins to look at request from a different angle. Before long Dale see the possibility of how the exposure that will help him realize his own dream, to open his own bakery.

As I read the book, I was able to feel more of the emotions from these characters; Taylor longing for what she hoped for as a child and Adam just wishing he could get back the family unit that was so tragically taken away.

I enjoyed this couple’s journey to finding love, purpose and the fulfillment of their dreams. You can always count of Hallmark to put you in the spirit of Christmas…anytime of the year!

Marvelous Gingerbread Houses
Lacey Baker, the author of various books, wrote "A Gingerbread Romance. Based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie" and published by Hallmark Publishing. As a child Taylor Scott had to get used to being moved on a regular basis by her parents. As an successful architect of beautiful houses and projects twenty years later this has become her chosen life style. Then she is challenged by her boss to participate in a gingerbread house building contest in Philadelphia. Things do not go as planned since the baker, Annabelle, with whom she wants to partner decides to work with another participant, Bradford Taylor. They had gone to college together. She ends up with Adam as a baker which is a challenge for both of them since Lacey wants to create a modern gingerbread building whereas Adam wants to go the traditional route. Then there is Brooke, Adam's adorable daughter, who might also have a say in the project. Will they be able to find common ground? Will they succeed to finish their project in time? And what will Lacey do when she loses her heart to Adam and Brooke but also gets her dream, running the Paris' office of her architect company? Will her promotion be more important than friends and family?
This Christmas romance with wholesome and believable characters who have to deal with real-life problems. It is not only about a challenge, but also about friends and family. It is an enjoyable relaxing read. Although I did not know the author previously I can highly recommend the book. The book also contains the recipe for gingerbread cake with lemon sauce, so that the readers can enjoy their own gingerbread.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A Gingerbread Romance is a charming, holiday romance! Taylor has always been moved around by her parents since she was little, so she's focused on a career and skipped having a personal life. When the promotion she wants at work, rides on her participating in a life-size gingerbread house contest, she's decidedly out of her element. The more time she spends with the baker she's roped in to help her, she finds herself wanting someplace to call home. Adam's daughter is definitely the scene-stealer in this book and you'll find yourself wanting a cup of hot cocoa and a warm piece of gingerbread.

- all the baking and yummy recipes - who doesn't want to read a book about great desserts?
- Really easy to read a little bit at a time which is perfect if you don't have time to read for long periods of time

As an architect, she designs beautiful buildings… But will her heart ever find a place to call home?
Taylor’s architectural firm enters her in a contest to build life-sized gingerbread houses. After the contest, she’s likely to get a promotion to a position in Paris. This is what she is certain she wants until she meets Adam, a baker and single dad. She convinces him to be her partner in the contest. After all, winning would give his bakery much-needed exposure.
This heartwarming Hallmark Christmas tale is just what you need to get you in the Holiday spirit. It's the first time I've read a book by Lacey Baker and it's a good one that based on the Hallmark Movie.
Make certain to pick up this Christmas Romance to get you in the right mood for the upcoming holidays.
I gave this book0 4.25 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization.
This is a sweet Christmas tale because after all it's based on a Hallmark movie.
I received a complimentary copy of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

This was a cute, fun holiday read - that for me has a special twist as its set in Philadelphia (which I live near) so it was fun reading about places I'm familiar with.

A sweet Christmas story, well written and engrossing.
It's got all you expect from a Hallmark Christmas book: Christmas spirit, lonely hearts who find their soulmate, cute children.
i appreciated Taylor, the main female character, as she's strong but she is able to discover her real needs and to adapt her career path without renouncing to it.
The cast of characters is fleshed and likeable, the Christmas spirit made wish it was December and the plot made me smile.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

A Gingerbread Romance is another sweet and romantic Christmas novel from Hallmark Publishing. It may only be September, but I am loving all the Christmas reads!

I really loved the idea of an architect, Taylor, joining a gingerbread contest with a single dad, Adam, who just so happens to be a baker. The two don't get off to the greatest start, but sweets and Christmas always seem to bring people together.

The characters are so adorable especially Adam's daughter. They made the story work. It was a heartfelt story about family and love.

I was so satisfied with the ending of the story and it left me with a huge smile on my face.

I give A Gingerbread Romance By Lacey Baker 4 stars. It was the perfect recipe for a lovable Christmas book. It will tug at your heartstrings and give you the Hallmark feels.

What could be better for the holidays than a Hallmark movie? Well how about a holiday Hallmark book? They are every bit as charming and feel good as the movies, maybe even better as you can let your imagination do the work.
This sweet, clean romance was a jolly good read and had all the heartwarming feels.
Can you resist a gingerbread cover like this book has? I couldn't and am glad I didn't.
A gingerbread house building contest, a few near mishaps,a sweet little girl and her handsome widowed baker father and the possibility of a romance with a take charge jet setter woman. Is there any way a romance a romance could be baked up in this winter wonderland tale?
This book will put you in the mood to start your holiday baking.

Expected publication: September 17th 2019 by Hallmark Publishing.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you.

I'm becoming addicted to Hallmark books. I'm already a sucker for their movies, all seasons, but they do Christmas right. A Gingerbread Romance, by Lacey Baker, is the format we all love, sweet and has a happily ever after. Available September 17, 2019, the book is based on the original Hallmark movie. I'm wondering if it's too soon to put a tree?

Taylor Scott moved around a lot, really a lot, during her childhood. She caught the wanderlust bug from her parents and now embraces it to the fullest. She's hoping her architectural firm will promote her to the Paris office. Paris, France not Paris, Tennessee. The problem with Taylor is she's rigid, a control freak & a workaholic. Not one bit of balance in her life. Her firm wants to build a life-size gingerbread house in a city contest. Guess who gets to design it? Not happy but taking one for the firm.

Adam Dale is a baker deep in his soul, been cooking since he could reach the countertop. He's a widower with a 10 year old his and has had to find balance in his life, no other way to make it through the day. He and Taylor are different sides of the same coin. They balance each other out, smooth ruff edges. Of course, they don't like each other at first but are attracted. Fight the feelings, learn to work as a team and fall in love. Perfect Hallmark plot. The author has made me want to spend a day shopping and sightseeing in Philadelphia, her descriptions are fabulous. Happy reading.

This is a cute Hallmark Christmas romance! I liked the idea of a life-sized gingerbread house and all the work detailed in the story to get it built. I enjoyed watching Taylor learn to trust and release some of the control to Adam and Brooke, and I particularly enjoyed the slow burn romance! Great easy, happy read for Christmas.

I was a bit dubious about the title but I am so glad that I read this book. It was a very different storyline but so enjoyable. Set in the US and Lacey Baker has written this, it is the first I have heard of her but I will be looking for all the other books that she has written. If they are as good as this one I will be really happy.I recommend all you romance lovers to read this. I will give it 5 stars.

My favorite holiday, Christmas, plus my favorite genre, romance, equals a few hours of pure happiness. A Gingerbread Romance is based on the Hallmark Christmas movie of the same name.

This is exactly as advertised. A sweet holiday movie that melts your heart. It’s full of family and love and will get everyone in the Christmas spirit. As much as I like drama, I was glad there wasn’t a third person in this story. Just Taylor and Adam, falling in love during the happiest time of the year.

If you love Hallmark movies, you will love this book.

ARC received from NetGalley for an honest review.

If you are a die hard Hallmark Movie fan like myself then this book is for you! I have seen this movie and it warmed my heart and this book is perfect. I reminded me of the movie and brought all the characters to life just as in the movie. If you love a good romance book then this is the one for you. I highly recommend reading it for a good Christmas book.

This is a really sweet story. I especially liked that both characters were genuinely good people and one didn’t need to change in some expected manner that is often the case with Christmas movies. Also there was no annoying bad guy to get in the way. This is just a story of two people with different holiday experiences who find themselves falling for each other. It’s a sweet slow romance between Adam and Taylor that also has Taylor falling for his daughter Brooke. If the places mentioned in Philadelphia are real this would be especially fun for a Philly native who knows these holiday traditions. I love Hallmark Christmas movies but this is my first book based on a Hallmark movie and I think it’s really well done. I’ve been unimpressed by a lot of Christmas romance novels but I think this book has all the right elements. It is a bit superficial with not much going on which would be my only real complaint but that does work to make a light read for the hectic Christmas season. I’m looking forward to watching the movie! I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
