I love that Cami is an independent woman who just wanted to please her family and take over the business. Falling in love was never in her plans for the rest of her life, enter Nick. He is hot guy she meets in a bar and he plays hockey. Nick wants Cami and is willing to work through all her issues to make her his. Cami family was over the top, but helped push the story along.

Camille has sworn off hockey players. She's been there done that and has the scars to prove it.. When she meets Nick he is different but in the end still a hockey player. When she finally starts to let down her walls with him she knows she has to tell him the truth about everything. When he is all in and wants to make things work she brings him to meet her family.. When that blows up will Nick walk away or will he be able to prove to Camille he is still all in

Tracy Goodwin is a new to me author and I can say after reading Ice Hard, I am definitely going back and reading some more! I saw a Hockey romance and I jumped right on it. I can’t get enough for them and I am such a sucker for them.
Ice Hard is the second book in the Nighthawks series, but can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read the first one, but still felt like I knew what was going on in the story, but I feel like it would have helped with some of the things mentioned throughout the story.
Nick is a hockey bad boy, he is like a human google. He studies everything and that includes his opponents. He knows how to win. He isn’t called the Dominator for nothing. Cami works in her family restaurant and catches Nick’s attention, only she doesn’t date hockey players. Nick is determined to get her to change her mind and take a chance with him, but will Cami be able to overcome her past for a future with Nick?
I LOVED this book so much. Every single character in this story was fantastic, even though I truly wanted to slap most of Cami’s family (trust me, you will understand once you’ve read it). Nick and Chris’s relationship and friendship is hands down my favorite. Those guys have so much love for each other and are truly like brothers. I love Nick, but Cami. That woman. She is completely amazing and despite the pain of her past is there for her family and just completely awesome.
If you love hockey romances this is one I would definitely recommend. It’s got loads of hockey shenanigans, romance, steamy and it is emotional. I loved every single moment.

I get tunnel vision when I see "Hockey Romance" in a book blurb and sometimes I'm left underwhelmed. Ice Hard hooked me with the opening chapters, but let me down quickly.

Nick and Cami's story had a lot of promise but there was just too much descriptive dialogue of nonessential elements and characters that left so little room for dialogue between Nick and Cami that would have helped build their story: connection, emotions, feelings . . . There was a relationship that I had no emotional connection to because it was never formed with words on the pages - I felt like significant parts of the story were left out.

*** potential spoiler***

"Why don I feel like we've known each other far longer than our dating calendar would infer?"

Tugging me even closer, she confides in a hoarse whisper. "I've wondered the same thing. It comes down to our texts, and late-night calls. We took time to get to know each other instead of immediately giving in to our primal desires."

Nick and Cami are out on their "first official date" when they have this conversation, but these texts and late-night phone calls are never written. If I don't have crucial relationship building moments/dialogue, then as a reader I don't get Nick and Cami's connection - I don't see it, so I don't feel it. And if I don't feel it then I don't connect with the story.

***end of spoiler***

I don't know if I'll continue with the New York Nighthawks series, which is disappointing because I really like the characters (the potential for a Thor story is one I'd like the read) and the essence of the stories but they just don't contain the dialogue, sense of time, and essential engaging elements that emotionally connect me to the characters.

This is the second in the series of hockey romances and I hope it is the continuation of a long string of them. The author has such a way with words and tells a very compelling story.

Families are always complicated and in this story, that is certainly true. Cami works hard in her family restaurant with no real thanks from her father. He doesn’t ever listen to her and never wants things to change.

Nick is a pro hockey player who seems to have it all but his off-ice personality is the polar opposite of the one on ice. And he’s having trouble convincing a certain beautiful woman that he will be good to her and for her. Cami wants nothing to do with him because she has a bad track record with hockey players.

He convinces her to be his date in hopes that it gets her to look at him in a different light and gives him a change to get to know her better.

The story has twists and turns that mirror real life and isn’t all rosy. I liked that about it and hope that everyone else does as well.

I voluntarily read the book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I really like Camille "Cami" Benetti. She is smart, funny, sexy and strong. She has a big heart and loves her family. Nick "The Dominator" George is a hockey player that underneath it all, is a nerd. He is all about his family and restoring old cards. In his quest to find the perfect date for his best friends wedding, he joins a dating app. Unfortunately, he meets Cami the old fashion way. Nick is all about making plans and achieving them. Cami doesn't stand a chance. She has her reasons for not dating hockey players but she never stood the chance. I love how the author takes us through family dynamics and how everyone sees it differently. They are so perfect for each other.

Complementary book given for honest review.
Tracy Goodwin knocked it out of the park with this book. People are not alway who you think they are. Sometimes they will surprise you. That is the case with Nick and Cami. This is a must read romance with just enough of each element to make a perfect romance.

What a read! Nick will melt your heart and Cami's sassy will entertain you are you watch their relationship begin, grow, flounder and grew bigger! Cami took on the role of peace keeper in the family after their mother died, being their for her siblings, helping her dad in the family owned restaurant, living her live for them. Nick needs a date to his teammate's wedding, resorting to online dating, and a little prank playing by Cami's brother they find themselves on a non date and finding it had not to find a connection, well for Cami who's definitely not looking for a relationship. Plenty of laughs, a few tears and plenty of heat makes this a great read!

Cami has worked for her family’s Italian restaurant since she was a teenager however even though her father is selling it, he won’t let her purchase it. She is selfless when it comes to her family, to her own detriment, and doesn’t believe that love and a relationship is in her future. She isn’t interested in the attention that Nick is giving her as she is aware of the temptations that a hockey player faces, and she has the scars to prove it.

Nick is a professional hockey player who determination on the ice has led to a successful career and he is just as determined off the ice. From the moment that he sees Cami he is drawn to her and now all he has to do is convince her that this hockey player is ready for love and marriage with her.

There is no denying the chemistry between them, but it is how Nick supports her when it comes to chasing her dreams that will melt your heart. The secondary characters add another level to the story, and it was great to catch up with Christian and Serena once again.

Camille doesn't date hockey players. Anymore. Because the last one she was with involved an unplanned pregnancy, marriage, miscarriage, surgery that led to infertility, divorce: in that order. It was hard to come back from, but when Nick comes into her life, Camille needs to rethink her rule. Because Nick isn't the stereotypical hockey player Camille was used to and divorced from. He was smart, enjoyed documentaries, and down to earth, so she agrees to give it a chance. But when her family life is rocked by a surprise marriage announcement and her dad fires her from the family business, Camille has to make a choice: stay with the hockey player she's falling for, or go after a great, out of state job opportunity. On the other hand, when Nick fell for Camille, he fell hard and he wasn't going to give her up easily, he just had to find a way to make her see that she could have everything she wanted for herself and also be with him.
I enjoyed this story. It was a romance with a lot of family drama mixed in. It contained viewpoints from both Camille and Nick, so you were able to know what they were both thinking throughout. The multiple viewpoints allowed you to see Nick fall hard and fast, and Camille allows herself to admit her feelings for the new hockey player in her life.
There was one thing that did confuse me, but I was reading an ARC copy, so it might be different in the final print. At one point, Camille is set to move to Florida but then doesn't. The confusing part was that the change in the decision was never discussed. And time passes, but it's unclear how much time goes by. I wasn't sure if she moved and quickly moved back because she hated it, or she never left at all.

Ice Hard
By: Tracy Goodwin

Can the both let go and TRUST?

Well let’s start by saying this book was a great second book in The New York Nighthawks series. While yes you could read this as a stand-alone my personal opinion is you’ll get so much more by reading the series in order. Ms. Goodwin does a incredible job of giving you updates on the couples before and future as well. These guys and the women they love are so relatable.

The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Authors Blurb: Nick: As one of the New York Nighthawks, I’ve got it all: fame, success, wealth, plus I’m handsome as hell. As for my relationships? They could be better. I know how to do one-night stands, but I’m starting to crave something more.

Then I meet Camille Benetti.
She’s sexy, smart, sarcastic—totally my kind of girl. The only problem? Cami doesn’t date hockey players. But she’s never met me. . . .

Cami: Nick George is impossible to resist. Not only is he scorching hot, he’s kind, he’s funny, and he wants me bad. But I learned my lesson the hard way: no jocks.
So why do I agree to be Nick’s date to the wedding of the year? One night . . . that’s our deal. He is the best man, after all. But Nick is crystal clear about his intentions. He wants a relationship. And he’s tempting me to break all my rules. . . .

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

Loved it! Who doesn’t enjoy an alpha hockey player love story? There’s nothing better than a tough guy going soft for the right girl. Can’t wait to see more like this one !

If you like your love stories steamy with two characters who are meant for each other, this is the story for you. Nick, a professional ice hockey player, known as the Dominator, is looking for something more than a one-night-stand. Camille (Cami), has sworn against men, especially ice hockey players. Add to this, an interfering family and supportive friends and you have a good story.

Another Nighthawk.
Alexander Nicolas George, the Dominator, is usually able to read other players on ice, but Camille Benetti has him stumped. He's in, but she's not sure from her own insecurities. All Nick wants is her and he's putting her on limited time to make up her mind. Less humor than the first one. More intense for me, because I kept waiting for diaster. Never fear they do get an HEA.

I absolutely love this series. It highlights the very best of men. Nick is looking for genuine lifetime love. He has watched his best friend fall in love and feels it is time for him to do the same. He is concerned that people won’t see the real him and devices a plan to get around that. Cami has sworn off dating jocks and especially hockey players because of her ex. She is loyal to her family and spends her time taking care of them. Their first date is manipulated by her siblings but they agree to go on another. This is a sexy and intense story. Watching Nick fight for the woman he loves and the future he wants is heartwarming. The team is a big family that supports each other and protects the people they love. Talking about the issues of inadequacy that Cami was dealing with makes the story even more compassionate and sweeter. You will enjoy turning the pages to the beautiful ending.

When I read the first book in this series, Ice Hot, I commented that I enjoyed the characters and liked the story concept but felt something was missing. There was enough I liked about the book that I wanted to read the next in the series. I’m happy to say I did feel this story was an improvement on the first.

I absolutely adore both Nick and Camille. They are both such caring people with just enough snark to make them fun but not overly abrasive. What they have is definitely insta-love, but it was really believable insta-love. As with the first story, I felt the flicker of chemistry but it didn’t explode off the pages as I was hoping/expecting. In the other book I chalked this up to telling and not showing with the story. I didn’t feel that way here, so I can’t really say what was missing to help things catch fire for me.

As much as I loved the backstory of Camille, I also felt I was missing out on something. There were two basic stories, one with her family and one with her ex, that converge to make her who she is today. Both were really great concepts. Yet I felt neither was given the depth it could have been given if only one had been central to the story. In other words, I wanted more. That’s a compliment, by the way.

So, while I’m still not totally blown away by this author, she’s definitely growing on me.

I received an Arc from Netgalley for an honest rating. I was excited to read this story because I love a good hockey romance. But unfortunately, this one fell a little short for me. I feel like it was the actual writing, rather than the storyline. There were too many instances where the writing was on the nose and I was being told rather than painted a story that showed what was happening. When this happens, it's hard for me to engage with the book.

Nick is the bad boy of his team, the New York Nighthawks. And Cami is a woman he meets when she's filling in as a bartender for her brother, though she runs their family restaurant. She also has a history with professional hockey players and vows she'll never date another.

On the surface this story and the main characters have a lot of good ingredients. I like the idea of these two coming together. However, another piece that made it difficult for me to stay engaged is that I often felt Nick sounded a lot like a female.

It seems this book has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, this one didn't really grab me and keep me interested. I found myself skimming through half the book because I was not as invested in the story.

This was my first Tracy Goodwin book and I'd have to say it was just ok for me. I enjoyed getting to know Nick and Camille, the Nighthawks, and parts of Camille's family. The story had some really promising moments and characters that I genuinely was rooting for, I just found it too formulaic for me and didn't really connect with the believe-ability of several of the plot points.

Nick was very relatable, likeable, and someone you wanted to cheer for on and off the rink. Camille was harder for me. She is likeable, snarky, sweethearted, and very giving towards her family, however she was also a little flat as a person and too stuck in her own head. I won't be reading anymore of the series but I did appreciate the opportunity to read it. I am curious to know what happens with Lucky...

Great first time read by author Tracy Goodwin. I loved the book, my only complaint is that it said in the blurb that you could read as a stand-alone.......not really. I did it again, starting a series on the 2nd book. I kind of felt left out in the beginning because the talk was on Chris & Serena & their upcoming wedding & implying about the funny incident that brought them together, as well as some of the quirky teammates that were at the bachelor party & the jerk who got traded. After I got past that I totally enjoyed the book. I don’t think I’ve laughed so much as I did at the antics in this book in a while. Both Nick & Cami were strong, sensitive characters. I loved how they were both knocked for a loop when meeting for the first time & how Cami tried not to like nick but couldn’t. Happiness isn’t high on Cami’s list because she doesn’t think she deserves it, but Nick is determined to prove to her that the past isn’t important & the future can be whatever they want it to be & he’s not the cheating hockey player her ex is. Nick was such a romantic that he had me swooning at times. This book was not only funny & very sexy, but sad as well with the knowledge of what Cami experienced & her family’s betrayal. The story grabbed hold of me & didn’t let go. I’m sad that it’s done. I’ll definitely be looking for more in this series.

Nick is a swoonworthy man! He's everything you could want in a boyfriend - smart, hard working, fun, looking for commitment, family man, thoughtful and supportive. Camille has had no real experience with a guy like Nick and is more than a little wary. Their story is fun and touching. The two characters are likeable and fit together well. It's a great quick read and it made me want to read more from this author. I received a copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
