Nicole does an amazing job telling her story of how she went through a lot of things but Jesus was right there with her. My favorite quote is this "Sometimes God doesn't save us from the pain, but he always saves us in the pain. Sometimes we get what we are hoping for, and sometimes we don't. And sometimes we get something we never knew to pray for: the peace that comes from a deeper intimacy with Christ." Nicole Zasowski

From Lost to Found by Nicole Zasowski is such an important message for this current day. I needed this book right now. I loved the way the author was vulnerable and used her own story to explain her points. Over and over, she illustrates things we think we’ve lost and what we find instead. What a message of hope! God truly works in mysterious ways. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Letting go of what I think I need and want and letting God take control...a big lesson. Control is a struggle and Nicole makes it clear what we need to do,how to let go and find joy in doing so.

Incredible! I started the book at the new year. Her words spoke to me in such a deep way. I finished the book feeling hopeful. There is more to my life. I don't have to settle in to middle age. God has so much more for me on the horizon.

I love that the author, Nicole Zasowski, shares her journey so freely in this book. No matter what your story is, you will find a piece of yourself in the thoughts and events that Nicole shares. This book is for anyone who has ever felt like their life doesn't look like it's supposed to look. For anyone who questions if God still sees and if He's still there. Nicole states, "One might assume that this is my story about finding God or at least finding more of Him than I knew before. But if any one of us finds God, it is because He found us first. No, this is not my story of finding God. This is my story about a God who did everything to find me ... I didn't know I needed rescuing from my own dreams. I had no idea that sometimes the greatest joy is found when we are drained of all misplaced hope and shallow identities. I was blind to the truth that the end of myself is actually the beginning of transformation, where real hope can take root. In what I now recognize to be God's graciousness to me, He gifted me a story that I would have never had the courage to choose for myself - a story that has led me to Him."

Reading this book is like sitting down with that friend you know you can tell anything to – Nicole both comforts and affirms her readers’ pain and challenges them to dig deeper to find the thing that is truly haunting them. She points us to Jesus and His eternal kingdom while never once discrediting our earthly pain.

I received this book from Netgalley for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The subtitle of this book is Giving Up What You Think You Want For What Will Set You Free. Author, Nicole Zasowski, is a family therapist, well acquainted with personal grief, loss and the struggle of upheaval and control over circumstances. She reminds us we are human and emotional beings. Her goal is for us to identify and let go of reactive behavior, name our fear and let it go to find true joy. We all have props, things that carrying through tough times, or armor we wear that we think is protective. She breaks these fallacies apart. Finding hope and peace during the hardest experiences of our lives cannot be done without someone who hears and knows our story. Trusting in God's transformative grace is all we need.
Her words challenged me to view my own story differently. Pain and loss are a huge part of my story. When seen as a way to learn and grow, my perspective has changed. I am in a season of transformation and this timely book has underlined my need to rest in Christ.
With discussion questions for further reflection, this book will be a welcome addition to any church group or book study along with Scripture. It addresses Grief, Loss, Rejection, Controlling Behaviors, Comfort Zones, Approval Seeking Behaviors, Vulnerability, Being a good Steward of our Pain, while finding Treasure in our Losses.

Nicole writes in a way that not only invites you into her story, but allows you to see yourself in the pages even if you haven't experienced the same things. The last few chapters were the strongest, in my opinion, so read until the end!

This is a book that you don't want to speed read through. It will make you stop and think about your life and how you are living. The questions at the end of each chapter will help you dig deeper. The author is very open and raw with her story about how she let go and found freedom in God. I received an ARC copy from the author via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
