Very pretty boook cover.
I have read one of the previous books about the triumvirate of S.H.E.
How annoying they must be to the ever present Detectives!
It's very cold in Heartsford, but even colder when Wanda, who is acting as a live mannequin in Sammy's shop window, is suddenly found to be very dead. Oddly enough her husband disappears on the same night.
Despite having been warned in no uncertain terms to keep out of the way, the three, of course, tramp right ahead with their amateur sleuthing. Combined with a little light romance with Liam, it is a good gentle story.
Thanks to NetGalley for a review copy.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book.

This wasn't my first foray into the world of the Sleuths of SHE (Sammy, Heidi and Ellie respectively) but I think I preferred this story to the last one I read. Sammy is still completely annoying and bonkers about her sleuthing, but I'm starting to just accept that and realize that these girls get away with stuff that many other sleuths don't even risk. It does have a heating up romance too, which doesn't hurt matters. I liked how the theme was woven throughout; we were never really sure who exactly was behind the crimes and why and the obvious answer isn't going to cut it (ha, did you see my puns in that sentence?)

This definitely has a family feel to it, and maybe the family will grow even more after this book. Characters are pairing off and having babies, so there will be even more fun and more opportunity for mystery. I would have liked to see a little more of the community here, and Sammy didn't get to use her quilting circle resource that much, but there's always next book, I suppose.

I feel back in with these characters easily enough, but this can also be read on its own if you like. It follows a usual cozy formula but with a few twists like having multiple sleuths. Four stars!

A comfortable cozy detective murder story set in Heartsford, Wisconsin in mid-winter - so lots of snow and pretty cold too. At the winter Fire and Ice festival one of the human mannequins in a craft shop, all part of the fun, is found dead - no wonder she did so well at ignoring customers trying to make the mannequins giggle or whatever. Her husband disappears that night too - making him an obvious suspect. Sammy, her sister Ellie and cousin Heidi (all involved in the local crafty community) are determined to track down the murderer even if the local police tell them not to. Oh dear, one of those stories. Still, they find clues in quilts, they chase herrings, red and not, and generally get into a variety of pickles and mis-understandings. Ellie's husband is a suspect, Heidi is dating one of the local policemen and Sammy is definitely lusting after the senior detective but in a non gratuitous, although annoying, way. Get past that and there's a neat story of a farming community living near the edge at times but with a strong sense of community alongside a bunch of gossipy crafty women. A fun read and a satisfying ending. Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was the first of Holly Quinn's Handcrafted Mysteries that I've read and I loved it! Her descriptions of life and weather during a midwestern winter are spot-on. As our protagonist Sammie and her S.H.E. crew work through the mystery surrounding the death of their friend, Ms Quinn gave enough background that I did not feel lost as I was able to keep up with the family ties and the relationships. But not so much that I felt she was repeating entire sections of her previous novels. I will be going back to pickup the 2 previous novels in the series as soon as my TBR pile gets a little lighter :) . Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to provide an advanced review.

Fans of cozy mysteries and gal-pal shenanigans should like this new book by Holly Quinn. This one is set in snow season, near Christmas, and is chock full of the (mis)adventures of a crafts shop owner, her friends, the unexpected death of a customer/friend, and all the attendant trappings of the best cozy mysteries. Personally, I prefer a more direct route to solving "the mystery" but readers who prefer the maximum route (i.e., more face time reading their purchase) will enjoy this meandering narrative.

The S.H.E.'s are at it again and this time the gals will need to work quickly as it looks like Ellie's husband is the prime suspect! However, the girls find they are in over their heads when their "investigation" leads to kidnapping, murder, money and family discord! The characters are really starting to flesh out and become more fully realized which along with intriguing and entertaining plot lines that overlap in the book to create a multi-dimensional read that leads to hours of entertainment! The excitement level ramped up a notch in this book not only in the mystery aspect, but also in the personal lives of the characters that leaves you wanting more! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

A light and fun read with just the right amount of suspense to keep me hooked.

Though I do have to admit the beginning of the book threw me a little bit. I'm not sure whether it was the style of writing or the point of view in which the story has been written, but once I got through that initial reaction I found myself enjoying the story and the interaction between Sammy and Detective Nash.

Can they get to the bottom of who killed Wanda? And where is her husband?

The S.H.E. Group is at it again in A Crafter Quilts a Crime.
The holidays are over and it's now time for the Fire and Ice Festival. Sammy has a wonderful idea for the festival, but when it turns into a gruesome event, the S.H.E group, which consists of Sammy, Heidi and Ellie, find themselves in hot water with the police department.
Events leave the group struggling to save relationships, loved ones and for one member, her own life.
This is a fast paced story and can certainly be read as a stand alone.
The story was well written and held my attention from beginning to end.
I'm looking forward to reading more about this close knit group of people.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book.

I loved this book. Couldn't put it down. I loved the small hometown and craft shop setting. It would be a good read snuggled up with a mug of hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies with glitter icing. I would recommend this book to someone want a clean mystery.

When a member of the local quilting club dies, local store-owner Samantha “Sammy”, her sister Ellie & cousin Heidi take it upon themselves to solve the murder. Heidi & Sammy are dating members of the local police force and their exploits are not entirely helpful, or above-board.

I believe that this is the third book in a series, but it does stand alone. It’s lovely to find a “clean” read these days, and this is one you could share with your granny comfortably. It is very typical of the cosy mystery genre, with little plot twists and bumps, though the storyline in the middle does get rather far-fetched and unbelievable! I really liked the way that the quilt was central to the story, though it could have been developed even more.
It reminded me a lot of the craft-themed mystery stories by Laura Childs, and whilst it didn’t feel particularly fresh & new, I did enjoy it and it would be a lovely book to read on one of those cold winter evenings curled up by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate!

Disclosure: I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
