Great characters, non stop action, wonderful story! What more could you want? I love this series more with each new book. Raider is one of my favorites of her heroes.

FALLEN is the second, full-length story in the Deep Ops series. You ‘could’ read this one on its own, but to get the background and the full understanding of the tensions between Brigid and Raider you really should start at the beginning – not to mention that this is a fantastic series that is well worth your time.

We have run into Raider and Brigid before and their story gives us more information about who they truly are, not just what they bring to the team. Both are intense, for different reasons, and now they will be working closely together on a case that has become very personal to Brigid since her father seems to be involved.

To use the word intense for this story feels like an understatement, but I cannot come up with a better one. The sizzling tension between Brigid and Raider can be easily felt throughout their story, and once acted on that word ‘intense’ comes into full bloom. I happen to enjoy when a story seems to be going in one direction then takes a sharp turn into unexpected territory. It keeps my attention sharp and fully engaged in the couple and what they’re facing. FALLEN is no exception to that feeling. I thought I knew where we were going – then not so much. This is a couple that is hot, engaged in not only the case but each other, and the twists in their story will keep you flipping pages. I enjoyed myself, loved catching up with team members again – including one adorable, slightly crazy pup. If you love a good Romantic Suspense story then this story and this series are perfect for you.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Kensington Books via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Brigid doesn't want to her father but if she hopes to prove that he is innocent she will pretend to be Raider's fiancee. There is no way that her father is involved with the Mob and she will do everything to prove that the time is wrong about him. She might not have the best relationship with him so she will pretend to be with raider to find the answers that the time needs. She knows that she needs to keep her head down and report about what the team is doing and she knows that she will lose everything once they find out but she doesn't want to land up in prison forever. But she can't betray the team they have accepted her and she has a new family now.but what will happen when the truth comes out? The trip back home hasn't gone as planned as her father doesn't like Raider and she is kidnapped. But Raider is in with the mob now so she hopes that he can keep her father from being killed. But the lines are become blurred between her & Raider it is complicated now and she knows that the team will find out about her and then she will have nothing. Will Raider make it out alive? A good read. I was lucky enough to receive a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Well it’s good to know that even your favourite authors aren’t infallible right? As much as I love RZ this one felt a little flat to me and I really struggled to connect to the storyline and characters in the beginning and only towards the end did I start to connect more but by then it was too late.

Our hero and heroine are both members of a team called Deep Ops- a rag tag bunch of men and women with different specialties. Our heroine is a hacker and our hero a former FBI agent and their latest case is investigating the Irish mob which our heroine unknowingly has ties to.

The start of the book completely threw me and I don’t know if I ever regained equilibrium. The pacing was so fast that I was thrown in not remembering the characters (even though I’ve read book 1 and a novella in this world), and there were a lot of them, and the storyline initially was rushed. Yes the romance did eventually develop but I was so thrown from the start that I never really formed a connection. But was there a teaser for the next book in the series at the end? YES! And it sounds sooooooo good!

When it comes to love/hate tropes and opposites attracting, I'm a lost cause. I can't seem to stay away from them and Fallen was another great read that keeps this addiction alive lol.

Brigid is a hacker and Raider is a straight laced, serious as they come federal agent. One skirts the law and the other upholds it. One sees things in black and white, the other in shades of gray. But when you put them in close proximity, there's definitely a spark!

If you've read any of RZ before than you wont be surprised by the explosive chemistry between her MCs or the fast paced suspenseful plot or by the gritty action scenes and all the awesome side characters that keep piquing your interest for their story next.

Fallen picks up right after Hidden (but can still be read as a standalone) with a whole new case to investigate and a new yummy couple to fall in love with.

Brigid and Raider have to pose as a couple to get close to Brigid's estranged father. He has a past she never knew about that reveals a connection to the Mob. But the team isn't the only ones interested in what her dad might know. The Mob's been sniffing around and with Brigid back in town, things get heated quick.

I loved both MCs and I'm already looking forward to re-reading it again soon. Dana and Wolfe I think are next *fans self* but I also can't wait to see the moment that brings Force and Nari together (Finally!).

Would I recommend? I am really enjoying this new suspense series. I loved the misfit group on the unit and I am loving all the sassy heroines we're meeting that are getting matched perfectly to all the alphas on the team! Would highly recommend.

This was a very good addition to the series! I enjoyed the plot, romance, drama/angst, action, and the camaraderie among the team. The pace of the book was spot on. It didn't go too quick and it didn't drag on.

Brigid was a good lead heroine. She wasn't bad-A in the typical fighter sense, but she was smart, quick thinking when things went down, and was sensible. I even liked her dad and his protectiveness.

Raider was a surprisingly uber-smexy hero. He was protective (but not OTT alpha), sexy, charming, and forgiving. I liked how he defended Brigid when it came to her father, Rutherford, and the bad guys. He really did it for me, which I wasn't sure if he would or not from the previous books.

I'm still waiting for Wolfe's story (because I love his crazy a$s!), but this was a great read and I highly recommend this series! Thank you NetGalley for this copy. This is my honest review.

Fallen by Rebecca Zanetti
Deep Ops #2

Misfits...or are they? The team working together definitely has interesting backstories. This time Brigid the hacker and Raider the agent are working together to take down an Irish mob. There is s peculation that Eddie Coonan, the new top dog of the mob, has taken up human trafficking and Brigid’s skills are needed to find out where they will arrive. Raider is on a mission that leans toward revenge but he, too, is willing to do whatever it takes to save the girls...and spill the blood of those that killed one of his friends.

What I liked:
* Raider – definitely a cool customer but HOT, strong and deadly, too. Great book boyfriend
* Brigid – smart and capable and perfect for Raider’s
* Angus & Nari – dancing around one another and either soon to fall in love or perhaps not
* Wolfe and Dana – another couple that may or may not end up together
* The sweet coffee concoctions Wolfe brings to the team
* Kat – Wolfe’s kitten carried in his pocket
* Roscoe – the German Shepherd who likes booze, makeup and high heels
* The team
* The bad guys being taken down

What I didn’t like:
* The bad guys..all of them!

This was a great book that kept me interested from beginning to end. So glad Raider and Brigid managed their HEA.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Fallen by Rebecca Zanetti

Romantic suspense. 2nd book in the Deep Ops series after a novella between the two. Can be read as a standalone.
Great action, writing and storytelling. One of my favorite authors.
The characters habits and issues make them intriguing and personable. I especially love Roscoe and it was amusing when they used him as a colleague.
Edge of your seat reading.
Loved it.

Excerpt:
“You want to fight in bed?” Was that curiosity in her eyes?
“Sure. We can roll around, wrestle, argue, and then you’ll give in.” He grinned, enjoying the challenge heating her expression. “We can include a healthy spanking, for good measure, if you’d like.”
Her chin lowered. “You want me to spank you?”
He laughed instantly and without thought. Even irritated and aroused, she was quick on her feet. He liked that. A lot. Smart girls had always done it for him, and she was freaking brilliant.

I could not wait to get my hands on this book, and lucky for me I got a copy through NetGalley in exchange for a review, and I got to work on it right away. I like Bridget and Raiders storyline, even though at times it seemed just a bit far fetched and the book did drag at times, but overall it was an enjoyable read. I am especially partial to Roscoe and his antics and I think we should have a book about him as well, just kidding. There was a lot of action, humor, romance, suspense and lot of hacking, so pretty much the kitchen sink. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This series keeps getting better and better. Raider and Brigid's story continues the theme, but is full of twists & turns that keep you in suspense. Strait-laced Raider and mysterious Brigid come together brilliantly, along with the other characters to create a fun, intriguing & sexy book.

I recommend reading the previous books in the series before reading to understand the characters that you'll meet in this book.

3.5 STARS

This was an entertaining and action packed book. I've learned over the years, not to take Zanetti's criminal justice/crime fighting world too literally and to enjoy it for the story that is. She even changes the name of certain federal agencies to keep things similar but not imitating. I adored all the secondary characters, and the interactions with them add depth to the overall plot. There is a good balance of humor mixed in with the action. My main complaint is the romance is too fast paced. I expected more of a buildup, and didn't really feel a connection to the relationship. Overall, I found it an easy, but engaging romantic based suspense.

There is a small excerpt for the third book, and I'm so excited to see this couple.

Thank you to NetGalley and Zebra Publishing for my advanced review copy.

HIDDEN, the first book in Rebecca Zanetti’s Deep Ops series, was one of my very favorite books of 2018. So to say that FALLEN was one of my most anticipated reads of 2019 is an extreme understatement. The series follows a ragtag group of operatives and Fallen is about Raider, a disgraced Fed, and Brigid, a felony-convicted hacker. Raider is Brigid’s handler as the duo tries to bring down a part of the Boston Irish mob.

Per always, Rebecca Zanetti brings the action, sexy-times, and laughs. Ms. Zanetti’s ability to write a complex suspense plot with surprises and twists shines through in this book. I really didn’t know how the book was going to end or how the characters were even going to get there. Raider and Brigid have so many roadblocks to safety and an HEA, I was holding my breath at times, hoping they would make it to the end.

Of course, the romance was incendiary. Raider is a sexy and dominant alpha male (trust me, he’s SO hot). I didn’t blame Brigid for one minute for jumping his bones. The emotional connection grew a little slower, but I like that it took a little while for them both to wrap their heads around the seriousness of their relationship. They were in the middle of a colossal crime takedown, so their attention was a tad divided.

This was a fun next installment to the series, but my biggest complaint is that Raider and Brigid didn’t spend enough on-the-page time together. Raider was in the field a lot, and Brigid ran the show from her computer, so they were apart fairly often. I, selfishly, wanted more of their banter and sparks in-person. I felt their connection, but I would have believed it a little more if they were together in times of crisis.

Overall, you really can’t go wrong with a book by Rebecca Zanetti. I love this series so much already. Her writing style is perfect for high-octane romantic suspense, and I’m here for all of it. I am already counting down the days to the next book!

Another fantastic novel by Rebecca Zanetti. The book, Fallen, is an stay awake all night and read story. Wonderful characters, surprises, a wonderfully developed story, everything you want in a book. Highly recommended.

Rebecca Zanetti is a master at writing wounded, back-to-the-wall heroes that you fall for totally. She brings all of that to this romantic suspense that has flawed characters who have secrets in the middle of a government mission with hidden an agenda. Fallen is a gripping read that starts out strong, staying that way throughout the entire book.

Brigid Banaghan wants to do no more than is required of her by the government while Raider Tanaka and his Deep Ops Unit will do whatever is necessary to accomplish the mission. What a contrast. Yet the reader can feel the air literally sizzling when these two characters are in the same room together. Rock-solid romance while at the same time just as an intensive suspenseful story. Well-done!

Loved Brigid and Raider's story. When this hacker and FBI agent go undercover to investigate Brigid's father the two clash over if he's innocent. This entire group are great characters and unique. Things heat up between Brigid and Raider as they work together and there is alot of chemistry and steam. Love the secondary characters and really love the entire crew of Deep Ops. A couple of twists make this a great story! I am Voluntarily reviewing an arc.

I really like the characters in this series and all their flaws. It is fast becoming my favorite Rebecca Zanetti series.

While I really enjoy the Dark Protector and the Scorpius Syndrome series by Rebecca, I am loving this mismatched group of wounded warriors so much. Each character in the series has been tossed into the HDD as a last ditch effort to either get rid of them or hopefully they just leave on their own. The various members have come from different backgrounds, policy, FBI, etc., and are all suffering some type of PTSD or other trauma from the work they did before. Angus Force saw something…some last spark in all of them and brought them together. I love that they are imperfect and flawed. Even the dog has a drinking problem. I love this group. They are all so quirky dealing with their individual issues and I am not sure who I like the most, but I am looking forward to Angus and Nari’s story because there is no question they will have a story.

In this story, Raider is looking for payback against the NY mob for killing his partner and he is using computer tech, Brigid Banaghan, who’s father was once part of the crew, as a way to get inside. Raider wants justice for his partner but before he gets his chance, they find out the mob has now branched into human trafficking and there and little girls whose lives are on the line. They first need to find out where the girls are being shipped to so that they can intervene.

The mobsters in this story were a bit intense and slightly crazy, such as being disappointed when Raider came through and they didn’t get an opportunity to cut off Brigid’s finger, so the danger level was intense whenever they were undercover.

I love the series. I love all the characters, including Raider and Brigid. My only problem with Fallen is that something about Raider and Brigid didn’t gel for me, or maybe there was so much story dedicated to the mission and the action, that Raider and Brigid’s romance didn’t get enough time. They knew each other for awhile, so it wasn’t insta-love but it just didn’t get enough balance to make them a couple.

I am not certain whose story is next but I can’t wait to see what happens.

Fallen is my favorite book of this series to date. OMG I loved Tanaka and Brigid. I have been reading each book as they come out, and I was really hoping this book would be Wolfe's. So when I got Fallen on Netgalley, I was a little bit sad it was Tanaka and not My crazy coffee drinking, kitten toting ex-soldier. However as I started reading I fell in love with Tanaka. He was so sexy and protective. OMG but he totally did it for me. I couldn't believe how much I ended up loving him. I really liked Brigid too. I loved how smart she was. She wasn't a kick-ass fighter, but she was very smart and could think fast on her feet. The whole team and I'm including Dana, KAT, Roscoe and Pippa (who isn't really part of the team) were amazing. They are all very likable, and interesting in their own way.
The plot of the book was good. The mob/human trafficking angle was a nail biter. The pace of the book was really good. Tons of action with tons of romance too. Tanaka and Brigid.... omg you could feel the sexual tension through my kindle. They made a great couple. I liked Brigid's dad, but I hated Rutherford. I kinda hope his hateful ass gets a little karma. Wolfe was amazing in this book. Of course he is amazing in every book. I truly love that fictional character like he was a real man. OMG everything about him is spot on. I really liked Dana too. I think she and Wolfe will make a great couple. My heart hurt for what Dana went through in the book. At the end of the book there is a little excerpt from the next book, Broken, which is Wolfe's (Thank you Lord!!!!!). That little taste was so damn good. I can not wait to get my hands on Broken...... OMG I just know it's going to be epic!

If you're looking for an exciting book, then look no further than Fallen the next installment in Rebecca Zanetti's Deep Ops series.

When Brigid Banaghan, was caught for hacking, she had two choices. Go to Federal Prison, or put her skills to help the government. When her assignment leads her to her father's door, Brigid along with her handler, Raider Tanaka, must pose as an engaged couple to clear his name.

This book was well worth the wait. With excellent chemistry and a great plot, Fallen will be a book that you may want to read several times.

FALLEN is the second instalment in Rebecca Zanetti’s contemporary, adult DEEP OPS romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for the HDD (Homeland Defense Department) and Angus Force’s Requisition Force Team. This is Special agent Raider Tanaka, and computer hacker Brigid Banaghan’s story line. FALLEN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and history with the secondary characters.

Told from several third person perspectives including Raider and Brigid FALLEN follows Brigid and Raider as they go undercover in an effort to infiltrate Boston’s organized crime. With her father a potential suspect and one time member of the targeted group, Brigid struggles with what has to be done, and the secrets she keeps to protect her life. What ensues is the fake relationship that turns into something more between Raider and Brigid, and the potential fall-out as the undercover operatives find themselves targeted in return.

Brigid Banaghan works for the Deep Ops unit of the HDD but Brigid keeps secret the truth behind her recent release from prison for hacking government computers. Working for Angus Force gives Brigid Banaghan purpose, a purpose that covers the lies she is desperate to keep concealed. Raider Tanaka is currently working as Brigid Banaghan’s handler but working together on an undercover operation finds Raider getting into character including a romantic relationship with our storyline heroine. As Brigid and Raider fall deeper into their assignment, secrets are revealed, and more than one player is desperate to keep hidden the past.

The relationship between Raider and Brigid begins as a professional assignment that soon turns into something more. Raider and Brigid find themselves on the receiving end of one too many attacks, attacks that often result in Raider fighting for his life. Hoping to keep up appearances, Brigid and Raider take their relationship to the next level, but in doing so place Brigid in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including former police detective and undercover operative Malcolm West, and Pippa Smith, (Hidden #1), Requisition Force team leader Angus Force, and members: former Lieutenant Commander Clarence Wolfe who carries a kitten in his pocket, and Angus Force’s quirky whiskey guzzling, lipstick eating German shepherd Roscoe: FBI psychiatrist Dr. Nari Zhang; Special Agents Tom Rutherford, and Kurt Fields, journalist and crime reporter Dana Mullberry, as well as Brigid’s father Sean Banaghan. The requisite evil has many faces. Dana and Wolfe’s story is next in BROKEN.

The world building continues to focus on the undercover ops, and Angus Force’s desperate search to prove a rogue agent not only didn’t die, but the FBI has known all along.

FALLEN is an intriguing with a spicy and character driven premise; energetic undercover agents, charming alpha hero, and arrogant bad guys. Rebecca Zanetti pulls the reader into an edgy and intense, dramatic addition to her DEEP OPS romantic, suspense series.

Brigid sat across from Raider Tanaka - who was a clean cut, upstanding, and unyielding Even his perfect large tailored suit made him appear like a guy who daily helped old ladies across the street. Brigid whispered “ You Look like a Fed.” Raider said “ I am a Fed . then she said she didn’t think they blended in. Raider said he thought that was the point Irish- the nickname he gave her the first day they met. She told Raider she didn’t get why Angus sent them there just to have lunch. Raider said the boss always has a plan. Brigid enjoyed temporarily working for the ragtag Homeland Defense unit run by Angus Force, but her job was hacking computer systems or writing code. Raider asked if she was finished with her food when she said yes he pulled her plate to himself Raider did not seem like the kind of guy to share someone else’s food. She figured him to be a dorky germaphobe, albeit a good looking one. He said “ When you grow up on the streets or in foster care you learned to take food where you can get it.” When she asked if he grew up in foster care he said yes. She wasn’t the one tough to figure out. Well that explained why he was such a control freak. Growing up in the system probably did that to a guy. She had to do something about her dangerous attraction to him. One of the other men- a bodyguard told Raider to leave while the man reached for his gun raider quickly bashed his head on the table and the man fell to the floor. Raiders easy and brutal violence shocked Brigid. Than a second man ran toward him drawing his gun out. Three punches and a quick twist and raider stood with the gun pointed at the back table. Raider tossed a business card on the table and said” Have your boss call me if he wants to get serious .” Than Raider backed toward briged and said “Door Now.” Raider told briged he had a feeling their mission went according to plan. As they drove away from the restaurant. After returning to D C they went to headquarters. Than a German Shepard named Roscoe came out of the office . Brigid relaxed when she saw Roscoe. Animals and computers code she knew. It was people who threw her. Roscoes mouth was red, Angus asked if it was Jack Daniels as the dog had a well known drinking problem and the dog spit out a gold plated lipstick . The dog had a thing for alcohol. Makeup, and highheels. Angus had previously been an FBI profiler. Now he headed up this ragtag division of HDD and almost to be able to read people’s minds. Did he have one clue who she was supposed to be? Angus said he had a new case. Than went and said “ Though the Irish mob no longer exists on Boston . there are criminal past associates of the mob that risen in the ranks and became threats Angus told Raider someone will be calling that they are still creating to Raider. Angus said” Instead of working within as usual, or rather former hierarchy of the mob, these guys are outsourcing work to skilled computer criminals for everything.from laundering money to shipping schedules.’ Angus added “We have a lead on a group using a site on the dark web , they’re running drugs and I’m telling you. I think there’s more.” “ In fact I think I found what.” The dark web is nearly impossible to hack. “ I can’t find a site without knowing where it is.” Brigid said. The way to bringing down someone on the dark web is-” “Getting them to meet you in person.” Raider said. And added “Guess that’s my part of the op.” Angus said partially, there is something else.Warning trickled through Brigid, why she didn’t know. But her instincts rose instantly and she said “What?” Angus said he thought her father Sean was one of the key players. Brigid said “ You’re crazy. He’s a farmer. Always has been.” Angus told her he had been involved with the irish mob , more specifically the Coonan family, for years. Formative ones. Than he supposedly got out. But now we think he is back in and part of what is happening now.” Bridget told him he was wrong about her father. Bridget said her father would never talk to a Fed if he was dying. Angus said “ You’re going home to introduce your father to the man you are going to marry.” Raider than said Look like they were engaged. Now that she was his, he could finally figure her out. Force told Brigid he needed her to reach out to Wolfe’s new friend Dana. The journalist supposedly had begun working on a story about the Irish mob and credit card fraud. They needed her sources. They've met the woman the week before in Kentucky on another assignment and now she was Wolfe’s friend. Clarence Wolfe was the muscle of the unit and dollars to donuts he was insane. Or else he had a weird sense of humor. Raider said he won’t like you messing with her life. Angus said “He’s a good soldier and he’ll understand the mission. Well probably.” Than Angus said after she called Dana he needed one more thing from her today. There was a possible sighting of Henry Wayne Lassiter in malibu the other day, would she mind going into your computer room and checking it out? Brigid said sure. The woman’s green eyes had captivated Raider from the first second, followed closely by the slight Irish brogue with a hint of Boston in it. The brogue was strong but the eyes were vulnerable. She tried to hide but Raider was the master of figuring people out. She was all wrong for him but the flashes of her she let slip out drew him. If she needed protection he could provide that. When Raider asked why now Angus answered he had a gut feeling their trafficking kids. Raider did not let anyone know Brigid kept him up nights. Angus said brigid craves stability. Her world was turned on its head when her mother died, and she was left with an absentee father who she’s estranged from . She wouldn’t be the first person to fall for the illusion of strength in a jackass. Angus said” If I let you continue this op , her safety is on you.” The pretty redhead ‘s safety had been on him the second he became her handler. Heat flashed through raider’s chest with the need to protect and shield her. A sense he’d only felt for his foster family before now.
Excellent book and I loved it. I loved the thrills, danger, suspense, and action. Half the time I was on the edge of my seat. I didn’t want to put this down. I loved raider and Brigid together and how they interacted. I loved the plot and pace of this book. I loved the ragtag Homeland defense team and how they were there for each other. I absolutely adored Rascoe and his issues. I can’t think of anything I could criticize in this book it was that good. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this book and I highly recommend it.
