Wow what can I say about this book.. This was the best one yet.. I loved how it went to the very end to let you know who the murderer was. Who would have thought. I just love Addie when she gets a notion, she is right into it. Thanks to her friend Serena who just goes right along with her. I highly recommend this series to everyone who enjoys cozy mysteries as this is a great series.

I've only read part of this series, and found this book easy to follow with a missing book, interesting murder story line and fun Christmas theme..

This book is very well written. The mystery is complex and the supporting characters are interesting, even if too many have names starting with C or J and I couldn't keep them straight. There's not quite enough about her past. Why does she have such a big house? My biggest issue is that I just don't like the main character. She's stringing two men along and she's a bit smug and arrogant about the cops not being as good as her. I don't think I'll read the first two in the series because of her.

When Addie Greyborne donates a classic first edition book for a charity auction, the last thing that she expects is to get tangled up in yet another mystery. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happens when she discovers the body of the woman in charge on the auction lying at the bottom of the stairs and the highly valued volume missing. To add to the complications, Addie must deal with the arrival in town of her late fiance's father and the emotional tug of war that Addie finds herself in, involving Dr. Simon and police chief Marc...

Be prepared to lose yourself in mystery that keeps to second-guessing, as Lauren Elliot has written another enthralling entry in the Beyond the Page Bookstore series.

It’s Christmas time and Addie Greyborne has donated a first edition of Charles Dickens’ a Christmas Carol to a local Charity for their auction. When Addie and Serena visit the coordinators to drop of Serena’s donation, Addie finds the head of the charity dead and her donated book missing.

While Addie believes the woman was murdered and the valuable book was stolen, the police think it was an accident and the book is in a safe place somewhere. The police can’t act on anything without proof, and Addie is determined to get it, even if it means ignoring the warnings she is receiving from the killer and the police.

To make things even more complicated, David’s biological father is in town and Addie struggles with the loss of David. Every time she sees the man, she sees David and can’t herself to give the man a chance. Especially since she finds his arrival into town suspect, as he was meeting the murdered woman right before she was killed. Addie needs to deal with her feelings for three men, Jonathan, Marc and Simon, if she ever hopes to move ahead with her life.

So much going on, a typical lead up to Christmas and it couldn’t be a more perfect setting than in New England with a snow storm. This series always sets the scene so well that you can smell the snow, taste the coffee, and feel Addie’s heartache. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for Addie as she moves forward. I highly recommend this series to the cozy lovers!

Murder in the Frst Edition picks up with Addie still trying to decide between Simon and Marc. Addie stumbles on another dead body plus her valuable edition of A Christmas Carol she donated for an auction has been stolen. The race is on to unravel this mystery with both men causing her much anxiety and stress during the holiday season, People are not whom they seem to be and others are not as suspected either. It's a good yesteryear read and Addie still has to choose her love.

Very enjoyable. Do think the love triangle needs to come to a conclusion soon, though. Loved the mystery. Lots of suspects, lots of twists and turns. Very entertaining.

This is an exceptional addition to an already fabulous series.
I love Addie and Serena, they make a fantastic pair of friends and they play off each other very well.
This was an incredibly interesting storyline and I was guessing right up until the end.
The missing book and the appearance of David's father really makes this an interesting story.
I also love when a book takes place during a snow storm, so this book was definitely a winner with me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book.

This is a fun, fast paced excellent addition to a great cozy mystery series. Addie Greyborne is the owner of Beyond the Page, a bookstore in Greyborne Harbor. she has donated an extremely rare and expensive first edition copy of Dicken's A Christmas Carol to the local hospital charity auction at Christmas time. When she goes to deliver the appraisal for the book she finds the auction director dead and the book missing so Addie and her friends are once again trying to solve a crime. And with the mysterious father of her deceased fiance David showing up, the plot thickens. This is an intriguing story with a compelling plot, interesting and intelligent characters and just enough mystery and romance to keep you captivated until the very end. I highly recommend it.

Murder in the First Edition by Lauren Elliott is the third book in her Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series. I have had the privilege of reading the first book in this series, however not yet the second. Therefore, I can comment that one does not have to read the previous installments to easily catch up and know what is going on in regards to the characters, their histories, and their relationships. I can also say that by reading the previous, it does help enhance the current novel.

I feel that this series is improving as it matures. Addie seems to be evolving, growing, and starting to recover from the losses of her fiancée and her father. I am glad that she is looking forward and onward, as the potential love interest with Marc is definitely more interesting.

I enjoyed this murder/mystery plot and felt that it was multi-layered and complex enough that it kept me guessing until the end.

I look forward to seeing how these characters grow and change in future readings.

4/5 stars

Addie is planning to donate a first edition of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol to an auction benefiting a new pediatric wing for the hospital. When Addie’s late fiancé shows up he brings up a lot of bad feelings and he hasn’t changed his sleazy ways. He woos the organizer of the auction, but then he turns up dead and the priceless Dickens book has disappeared. Addie has several mysteries to solve and all as a blizzard makes its way in. A fun cozy for a cold winter night
