Nice collection of three holiday historical romance novellas featuring strong heroines.

A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter
I almost worried I was going to be turned off by this one because it centres around the heroine kidnappping the hero (and not in a sexy way), which is a trope I don't usually enjoy. But the hero takes it all so gamely, the characters both really grow on you, and the reasons for the heroine doing it are found to be valid eventually - so like the characters, it grew on me! I ended up quite enjoying it. 4/5 stars.

A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries
Charming story with some real-world, modern feeling characters - our hero, previously a soldier, struggles with finances, and doesn't tend toward the spoiled ballroom hero. And our heroine definitely knows her own mind. The conflict was really good between them, and the eventual payoff sweet - I almost thought this was going to hit the trope of "it's just one thing they aren't saying that's keeping them apart" but no! That was solved quite earlier on, leaving the conflict between the couple much more complex. I should have known better of Sabrina Jeffries, as she's one of my favourites. I also liked the connection to Project Duchess. 4/5 stars

One Wicked Winter's Night by Mary Jo Putney
I liked the hero and heroine - strong, somewhat damaged, and several years older than your traditional Regency couple (at least she is). And I liked the overall story as we learn about their pasts and the intrigue happening now. The only thing I wasn't as into was the conflict keeping them apart - it almost felt just like "we liked each other before, will we still?" which didn't feel like enough for a romance novella for me. Regardless, 3/5 stars.

I love anthologies. And this one was one of my favorites! It was a quick read and written by some of greatest historical authors; Mary Jo Putney, Madeline Hunter, and Sabrina Jeffries. After reading it, I had to make sure that I had read all the previous books in the series and preorder the new books coming out.
Thanks ladies for a great read!!!

Three Christmas novellas that are great reads! And even though they are novellas, they pack a lot of romance and adventure into each one.

A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter - abduction gone awry, but they find love with each other.

A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries - continuing her new series, Heywood finds his HEA with someone unexpected.

One Wicked Winter Night by Mary Jo Putney - great reunion romance.

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.

How could any reader go past a collection of novellas with Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries and Mary Jo Putney? With three books following a Christmas theme, it felt like an early Christmas gift for me.
Madeline Hunter’s ‘A Christmas Abduction” begins with Baron Thornhill’s (Adam Prescott) abduction by his cousin’s neighbour, Caroline Dunham. He soon realises that Caroline is not attempting to ask his cousin for money for his release but for something far more personal. Caroline realises that her feelings for Adam have grown, as she enjoys his company and values his strength. He is an honourable man, and not the wastrel that she thought him to be. There is just the problem with her compromised sister….
This was one story that I wished had just gone for so much longer as these were two very captivating characters. Definitely 5 stars!

Sabrina Jeffries’ ‘A Perfect Match’ finds Cassandra Isles struggling to keep her secret from Colonel Lord Heywood, whilst she protects her younger niece. However, Cassandra wants to help Heywood in his quest to save his estate, yet she wants to marry for love. He must marry for money otherwise, he would be taking a wife with him, in his role in the Hussars. Having read ‘Project Duchess’, I loved reading about Heywood, and found his strength of character delightful if not frustrating as he attempts to do the right thing by all. Cassandra’s wit is also well highlighted and made for an interesting read. A fantastic addition to the series and a great fit with this trio of novellas. Another 5 stars.
‘One wicked winter night’ by Mary Jo Putney, finds Lady Diana Lawrence returning to England after her extensive travels. She has grown tired of running from Anthony Raines, the Duke of Castleton, a man she once loved. Is it possible that they can resume the romance that began many years ago? Both characters are quite unique with Diana, a strong and independent character, and Anthony, a determined but very accepting man. Whilst this might not have been my favourite, it still had me entertained throughout. 4 stars.

I fell in love with each of the couples in SEDUCTION ON A SNOWY NIGHT. I can’t pick a favorite for I enjoyed each story for, perhaps, different reasons but they all made me smile, kept me engaged and wanting more.

I initially wanted this anthology for a connecting to a series story by Sabrina Jeffries – but quickly realized that each story is unique, full of Christmas celebrations in a far different time, swoon-worthy heroes, smart, sassy heroines and overall enjoyable reading experience.

I’m sure there are reviews that will pick apart each story for you – but since these are shorter lengths I’m not going to do that. Three well-known authors, beloved by many readers have delivered an anthology full of touching, amusing, spikes of danger, and happily ever after endings to satisfy this particular reader quite well. I had a blast, and if you are a reader of Historical Romance or Regency Romance then you’ll want to get your hands on this one for Christmas (or any time of the year).

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I have also purchased a Kindle edition of this anthology.

Charming Regency Christmas tales.

Three stellar stories bringing that extra taste of Christmas happiness into being for those involved, despite the obstacles that always seem to cut across many of the delightful, and often stubborn protagonists' paths. And yes, snow is involved in all!

A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter
When Baron Thornhill, noted rake, finds himself kidnapped and held in a cottage he's somewhere between annoyed and amused. His captor is a rather unorthodox young woman who managed this feat with a younger man and a couple of older retainers. The big question is why? Caroline Dunham has planned this matter carefully. The Baron will make up for his perfidy. So a Christmas journey, where Thornhill was contemplating being engaged to a rather demanding woman has become something quite different.

A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries
The problem of writing as someone else comes home to haunt Cassandra Isles.
Colonel Lord Heywood Wolfe must marry an heires. He has been enthralled by letters ostensibly from his fellow officer's sister Kitty during the long continental campaign. He has come to woo this compelling heiress, only to be throughly confused, puzzled by the person he'd hoped to marry, as over against her delightful cousin. Cassandra is also an heiress but that knowledge is not broadly known. She wants to be loved for herself, not her money. After some rocky moments and intrigue, including a displorable cad, it seems Christmas time can be a special time of year for all.

One Wicked Winter Night by Mary Jo Putney
Having fled lost love, Lady Diana Lawrence traveled the world. Her decision to return to England, despite enjoying her current years in India will put her back in touch with her beloved family. She looks forward to starting a specialized import business and to write her about her journeys as travelogues. Anticipating a leisurely pace in London as an older single woman, love has no place in her heart, until extreme measures come into play.

Three enjoyable stories set around the Christmas period and concern women who are intelligent and strong minded.
Seduction on a Snowy Night
This features Caroline Dunham who has had to be a strong woman, looking after her father’s estate and caring for her spoilt younger sister. She has a reason for seeking out Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill but things do not go as planned. There are also a few surprises but a very pleasing end.
A Perfect Match
This story also has a strong, clever woman in Miss Cassandra Isles. She has a fortune for her dowry but keeps it a secret as she is wary of fortune hunters. Class is also very protective of her cousin, Kitty. She meets Colonel Lord Heywood Wolfe and there are a few misunderstandings and a definite attraction but he needs someone with a fortune.
One Wicked Winter Night.
Lady Diana Lawrence has been travelling the world and is now back in England. Here she meets again her first love, Anthony Rainer, Duke of Castleton. This is a second chance romance but will Diana take that chance.
I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Seduction on a Snowy Night

4 stars total

This anthology has 3 novellas all taking place during winter. One story each by Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries, and Mary Jo Putney

A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION by Madeline Hunter

The heroine abducts the hero and keeps him hostage due to some information she has about him. Their relationship forms during his 'imprisonment'. There are a few twists and turns in the this story that keep it a bit more interesting.

I think I am the only person that didn't like this story. The premise was definitely different, but I could not understand how the heroine could begin to form feelings, or do anything physically with the hero, thinking what she was thinking in the beginning. I can't say their conversations brought me butterflies or anything, in fact it was a lot of just boring or downright negative dialogue. I get that the heroine has reason to not like the hero in the beginning, but I don't understand how there was any chance of them having feelings for each other. I found the heroine completely unlikable and couldn't understand any of her actions. I did see how the hero had come to care for her. I would give this story alone 2 stars, but perhaps it was just a character disconnect with me personally.

A PERFECT MATCH by Sabrina Jeffries

I completely adored this novella. I didn't realize it would be a continuation of her Duke Dynasty series (Book one being Project Duchess) so was extra excited to have another story from that family tree. This story is about Heywood and Cass.

Heywood needs an heiress so he can restore his home upon his return from being an officer. Cass has become an expert at avoiding fortune hunters by keeping her dowry a secret and vowing to marry only for love. This story is just fun, past faced, and well developed for a novella. I feel like I am right in with the family getting ready for the holidays. Sabrina Jeffries characters come to live and have bursting personalities, even the secondary characters. 5 stars

ONE WICKED WINTER'S NIGHT by Mary Jo Putney

I loved that the beginning of this novella took place in India. Wish I got to see a bit more of Diana's time there. She returns to London after receiving a letter from her favorite niece and realizing it's time to go home. Upon her return, she meets a dashing corsair at a masquerade ball who turns out to be her lost love and the reason she fled England years ago.
I really enjoyed this novella. It actually felt like a full story. I usually don't like where the hero and heroine have a previous history because I feel like I'm missing things but with this it worked really well. The story felt full bodied, I loved the characters including the secondary ones and adored the Panda and the Spook.

My only complaint about this, which probably would be another positive if I was caught up with Putney's work, was this novella also felt rather like a giant epilogue for all the characters of the Rogue's Redeemed series. So if you have read those, this is wonderful to see all the characters again I'm sure. As it was, it made me feel extremely curious about their stories, as I've only read the first in the series. 5 stars

So overall a great set of stories, especially to curl up with this fall/winter.

Well written Christmas themed historical anthology

Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries and Mary Jo Putney have gifted the readers with unique books. The one common factor is strong heroines in each story which I enjoy reading about. There is definitely chemistry between each of the couples along with solid plot lines. These stories are great reads for when reading time is limited but you still want a fully developed story.

This book has 3 Christmas Novellas included in it.

A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION by Madeline Hunter
When Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill is abducted by Caroline Dunham that is when the fun begins. Caro thinks that Adam is guilty of a certain action and she wants to set the record straight....too bad in the meantime she ends up falling for him. This story was so fun and I just adored Caro. She is a go getter and is not afraid of much! 4 Stars

A PERFECT MATCH by Sabrina Jeffries
We finally get Cassandra Isles story...she is Thorn's twin sister. When Colonel Lord Heywood shows up at a ball to warn his friend's sister, Katherine "Kitty" Nickman about Captain Lionel Malet, Heywood never would have thought he'd fall in love with her cousin, Cass. After all he always thought he was in love with Kitty and her wonderful letters. I just adored Cass. She is so matter-of-fact about everything. 5 Stars

ONE WICKED WINTER NIGHT by Mary Jo Putney
Lady Diana Lawrence is back in London after having traveled the world. She never expected to run into Anthony Raines, the now Duke of Castleton, so soon but the obvious chemistry was still there. Diana is unsure if she ever wants to be married but Anthony lost Diana once and is intent on not letting that happen again. It will take a kidnapping for Diana to come to her senses! I just loved Diana. She is not your typical member of the ton. She was a hoot! 5 Stars

Three quick reads by three of my favorite authors. The stories are all well told with a holiday theme to get you in the mood for Christmas. All are happily ever after, standalone, no cheating, historical romances.
Even though novellas are not for me, as I like to get into the lives of the characters a little more, I still enjoyed each of the stories lines and could feel the love developing between the heroes and heroines. 3.5 stars rounded to 4.
I received a copy of this story through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Seduction On A Snowy Night is a trio of holiday stories by Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries, and Mary Jo Putney. Available on 9-24-19, it's my start on Christmas love story reading. A snow storm that strands our 3 couples is the tie-in, all the stories can work as stand alone with no problem.

A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter presents our first couple, Caroline "Caro" Dunham and Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill. Caro wants revenge and she's figured out a way to have it. Adam's no good cousin killed their breeding stock & ruined their horse business. A female member of her family is in "a delicate condition" & Adam is the baby daddy, so she thinks. Caro wants revenge but also justice for Amelia, she needs a husband fast. Adam doesn't know a thing about any of this but begins to see the light soon enough. He's an affable guy & wants to help. He and Caro are made for each other, they realize this & now have to find a way to have a HEA. I liked these 2 characters a lot.

A perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries is our next story. A nasty fortune hunter is after Kitty, her cousin Cass is determined that the snake will not get his way. She's fierce & the guy is crazy to let her in on his plan, he's bragging. Enter Colonel Lord Heywood Wolfe. He's a friend Kitty's brother. He abducts they girls from a ball, just in time, & takes them home to his family. He intends to court Kitty, he loved her letters & thinks she's peachy keen. Lots of misunderstandings happen. Turns out Kitty didn't write the letters, Cass did. He's been infatuated with the wrong girl for years. He's torn, needs money, but love wins out. HEA.

One Wicked Winter Night by Mary Jo Putney involves second chance lovers Lady Diana Lawrence and Anthony Raines, Duke of Castleton. I had a hard time with this story, these two weren't very emotionally mature for people of 30-ish. A little conversation goes a long way. Theirs was 7 years in the making. There are some terrific cats in the story. Everyone gets an HEA, even the cats.

3 novellas about abduction during Christmas period, with witty and romantic moments.
I loved reading the three of them, especially the first and the last novels. The first one, A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION, is sweet and hilarious at the same time, because of Caroline's plan to help her younger sister. And I liked so much how Baron Thornhill warms up to Caroline and her "family".
The last one, ONE WICKED WINTER’S NIGHT, because it was also about second chances, a topic I love. I laughed a lot at how Castleton attracts Diana to his lodge... No spoilers here.
This book will be a wonderful companion for the cold nights of the season. Pick up some chocolate, a glass of wine and enjoy!

A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION by Madeline Hunter
Adam Prescott Baron Thornhill thought to spend Christmas with his cousin Nigel & then enter a marriage of convenience but being held at gun point then locked in an attic by Caroline Dunham who is looking out for her younger sister, make for an interesting festive time

A PERFECT MATCH by Sabrina Jeffries
Cassandra Isles struggles is an heiress who hides that fact as she doesn’t want to be prsued by fortune hunters. Colonel Lord Heywood hides the fact he must marry for money to save his estate. Misunderstandings & an attraction that can't be denied make for a delicious read.

ONE WICKED WINTER NIGHT by Mary Jo Putney
Lady Diana Lawrence is shocked to discover that the mysterious corsair who tempts her away from the costume ball is Anthony Rainer, Duke of Castleton whom she once loved and lost. Now snowed in at a remote lodge, will they get their second chance?

I’m an avid reader of all three authors & love their books so was delighted to received a copy of this trilogy of novellas we do meet some characters from other books. All three stories are well written, with particularly strong heroines & each is ideal for whiling away a few hours & each author also writes a mean short story.

“A Christmas Abduction” - Madeline Hunter

Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill, 27, is riding atop a stagecoach heading to his cousin’s home for a week. While waiting at a coaching in for a change of horses, he is abducted at gunpoint by a woman named Caroline (Dunham) and a man named Jason. They take him to a nice home that he recognizes as Crestview Park. The place is a struggling horse farm. Caroline accuses Adam of seducing and impregnating her sister which he vehemently denies. When her sister arrives she admits that she lied and the father is a married man.

Adam is impressed with how hard Caroline is working to keep the horse farm going and steps in to help. Spending time together of course sparks an attraction. Can there be a future for them?

I just didn’t care for this story. For Adam to allow himself to remain “captive” by this group made no sense at all. I’m sure he felt sorry for her but I can’t see him dropping his plans and hanging around.

“A Perfect Match” - Sabrina Jeffries
Yorkshire - December 1808

Welbourne Manor is the venue to a Christmas ball. Miss Cassandra (Cass) Isles, 22, is attending the ball and is sweltering with the number of people. She needs some fresh air. However, she trying to make sure that Captain Lionel Malet is not trying to find her cousin, Katherine (Kitty) Nickman, 18. As the youngest son of a viscount, Malet should be a catch, but he has repulsed Cass. In addition, Kitty has a very nice dowry that he would like to get his hands on. Both Kitty and Cass are heiresses.

While taking some air on the terrace and looking for Kitty, Cass encounters a man who introduces himself as Colonel Lord Heywood Wolfe who is bringing a message from Kitty’s brother, Douglas. It appears that Captain Malet truly is after marrying Kitty and plans to abduct her and take her to Gretna Green. So, Lord Heywood rescues both Cass and Kitty by taking them in his carriage and explains that he is saving Kitty from Malet. Haywood is in need of marrying an heiress himself. Even though he is more physically drawn to Cass, he knows he must marry an heiress which Cass says she is not. He takes them to the home of his mother where they are preparing for Christmas and he finds himself falling in love with Cass. Will they be able to find a future together?

This is a pretty good story. Cass loves Kitty, is very protective of her, and does not want someone to take advantage of her. She does feel something for Heywood but is still afraid that someone may take advantage of her. I liked his family and the way they all welcomed the two young ladies into their homes and their lives.

“Winter Night” - Mary Jo Putney

Bombay India - Summer 1816

Lady Diana Lawrence, is enjoying the cool of early morning. Today, she is missing he England she left 7 years ago. She has just received a letter from her niece, Lady Aurora (Rory) Lawrence Vance. Rory has married a man who had spent years at sea and is now settling on an estate in England. Rory’s letter to her aunt Diana has asked her to return to England and live with her. She is expecting and wants to name the baby after her. Diana can sell her books of travel she has written over the years.

London - December 1816

Back in London, Diana is happy to be with Rory and her family. Diana is only 30-years-old. They are discussing hosting a masked ball for Christmas.

Anthony Raines, the fifth Duke of Castleton, has declared that he has no interest in attending the masked ball. However, his sisters, Julia and Athena, convince him to go. That night, Diana and Rory do a special Indian dance that the attendees love. Afterward, Anthony asks Diana to dance and when they remove their masks, they recognize one another. They had had a flirtation before and when he proposed, Diana fled to India. She was 5 years older than he was and he was not of legal age. His father threatened her if she stayed. Now, the family is urging him to court her. Is there a future for them after all these years?

This is a good story that I certainly enjoyed. I didn’t mention the part about the interesting cats. This was a big draw as I love cats!

This is a delightful anthology with a Christmas theme and if you follow these authors you will recognize many of the characters from previous books!!

A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter – 4.5 stars – Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill is on his way to celebrate Christmas with his cousin Nigel, the Marquess of Haverdale and if all goes according to plan, he may be announcing his betrothal to a wealthy debutante. But all does not go according to plan and when Adam tries to help a young woman he thinks is being assaulted, he finds himself abducted at gunpoint. Caroline “Caro” Dunham is trying to keep what is left of her family and their legacy together, so when she learns that her younger sister Amelia has been compromised and pregnant at the hands of well-known rake, she does what any older sister would do, she abducted the scoundrel and will make him marry her! This was a cute story that was paced nicely, has a little bit of steam and a HEA

A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries – 5 stars – Cassandra “Cass” Isles has been tricked before by fortune hunters and is extremely distrustful of the men on the marriage mart, so much so that she lets everyone believe she is a poor relation. She has also made it her mission to protect her cousin Kitty, who is sweet and kind, but not quite as savvy as Cass. Currently she is attending a ball and is trying to put off one of Kitty’s suitors, Capt. Lionel Malet, Cass is sure he is a fortune hunter and will do her best to keep Kitty away from him. While searching for Kitty, she stumbles upon Col. Lord Heywood Wilde, son of the late Duke of Armitage and younger brother to the new duke – he is also a close friend of Kitty’s brother Douglas. Heywood says he must speak with Kitty on an urgent matter and asks Cass to locate her for him. Heywood is attracted to Cass, but the woman he wants to marry is Kitty – the heiress. This was an excellent story with a lot of depth for a novella. It was also the steamiest of the three offerings. If you have been reading the “Duke Dynasty” series, you will recognize most of the characters and enjoy catching up!

One Wicked Winter Night by Mary Jo Putney – 4 stars - Lady Diana Lawrence is the black sheep of her family, she left England 7 years ago after a doomed love affair and spent years traveling, finally ending up in India. But a letter from her niece Rory has Diana returning to England, she believes that at 30, she is a spinster and the man she loved is probably long ago married with children and she is in no danger of meeting up with him. Anthony Raines, the Duke of Castleton is bullied by his sisters to attend the Masked ball at Vance’s townhouse and is mesmerized by the woman who performed an Indian dance – he approaches her and they share a dance and a kiss, which causes both of them a bit of shock when they realize who it is they are kissing! Anthony wants answers as to why she left him after he proposed and she just wants to forget and carry on with her life. When she tells him to leave her alone and never call again, Anthony is forced to resort to abduction to get the woman he loves to talk to him. This was a great second chance romance, but it did feel a little rushed, had very mild love scenes and the issue keeping them apart was resolved way to easily, but the ending was wonderful.

A Christmas Abduction – Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill, is on the way to a family Christmas when he is held up and kidnapped by a woman (Caroline) and Jason, a young man who works on her horse farm. Caroline believes he took advantage of her now pregnant sister, Amelia. Snowbound, he realizes she’s had some troubles on the farm and helps her. I enjoyed this very good short story with twists and turns.

A Perfect Match – Miss Cassandra Isles is repulsed by the handsome Capt. Lionel Malet who escorts her, and her rich younger cousin, Katherine, to a ball. Malet wants to marry Kitty but she likes their solicitor, Mr. Adams. Cassandra wants to marry for love and doesn’t discuss her money. Looking for her cousin on the terrace she meets Col. Lord Heywood Wolfe. Fearing Malet will kidnap Kitty, Heywood takes the girls to his broken-down estate. Much more going on in this story, but I won’t ruin it!

One Wicked Winter Night – Lady Diana Lawrence (30) is the black sheep of her family. She has traveled for more than 7 years after a doomed affair and is currently in India. Her favorite niece, Aurora, is pregnant and wants her to come home and be her child’s Godmother. Anthony Raines, Duke of Castleton, agrees to attend a masked ball with his sisters where 2 harem girls do a show. He dances with Diana but leaves the ball early. Anthony and Diana do get together but I’m not going to spoil this unique story.

This winter, steal away with the reigning queens of Regency Romance
. . . to a surprise snowstorm, the comfort of a blazing fire, and the heat of a lover’s kisses . . .

A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION by Madeline Hunter
Caroline Dunham has a bone to pick with notorious rake Baron Thornhill—and a creative plan to insure his undivided attention. Yet once in close quarters, she finds herself beholden to their smoldering connection . . .
I liked this one but not quite as much as the Sabrina Jefferies offering.

A PERFECT MATCH by Sabrina Jeffries
Whisked away from a wintry ball by the officer she knew only through letters, Cassandra Isles struggles with her feelings for the commanding Colonel Lord Heywood. For he, secretly a fortune-hunter, must marry for money to save his estate—and Cass, secretly an heiress, will accept nothing less than
love . . .
This was my favorite of the trio. I always seem to enjoy a Sabrina Jeffries romance no matter the length!

ONE WICKED WINTER NIGHT by Mary Jo Putney
Dressed as a veiled princess, Lady Diana Lawrence is shocked to discover that the mysterious corsair who tempts her away from the costume ball is the duke she once loved and lost. Now snowed in with Castleton at a remote lodge, will she surrender to the passion still burning hotly between them?
This was my least favorite although I liked all three.
I gave this collection 4.25 of 5.0 stars.
I received a complimentary ARC of this anthology to read.
This in no way affected my opinion of this collection which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
