Tallie Graver is settling into her life as part cleaner, part boss, and part-time helper at her father's funeral home. But she's not sure what she wants to be when she "grows up." Should she become a private investigator? Because she keeps finding herself in the middle of murders and mysteries, much to the annoyance of the local police force and the concern of her boyfriend.

This was a fast-paced, easy read. Tallie comes off as having a bit of an anger management issue at the beginning but eventually she's a likable character. There's a good cast of characters, although not enough non-sleuthing interaction with them and the town.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this ARC!

3.5 stars

This is the fourth entry in the Tallie Graver mystery series, a pleasant and undemanding read. Tallie is continuing to make a new life for herself after divorcing a rich husband and losing her social position and creature comforts. She has moved home and lives upstairs in her family's funeral parlor while running a cleaning business on the side.

In this outing, Tallie is competing for a contract to clean a mansion, when her competitor is found dead. Tallie had considered this woman a friend, but the more she finds out, the more unsettling info she hears.

I have enjoyed this series, but they are feeling a bit formulaic. As usual, Tallie's past rich-girl status is brought up often, she continues to tussle with the local chief of police, and her perfect-in-every-way boyfriend is still putting up with her shenanigans. But the characters continue to provide a little fun diversion even though the plot mechanics don't always hang together.

Thanks to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Kindle Copy for Review from Net Galley and Kensington Books.

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Tallie’s cleaning business is starting to grow which puts in the running with the competition for a contract at the Astercromb mansion. She is up to the task of a friendly rivalry until she finds her rival rolled up dead.

Thus landing the job, she will find out who killed her competition. It seems our competitor did not have such a squeaky clean reputation as one thought. As Tallie gets closer to the truth, she might become the next victim.

A cleaner upper cozy mystery.

This series just keeps getting better and better! I'll be honest, I wasn't all the impressed with the first book in the series. However, which each book that is published I can coming to love it more and more. So much more in fact that I am constantly watching to see when the next will be released! It's truly fun, original, and intriguing!

Amateur sleuth Tallie Graver is back sticking her nose in to things. This time she happens to involved in a cleaning job that leads to another dead body. This was a quick, fun read. It is lightweight and doesn't required deep thinking. Really- or you start to question why Tallie does some of the things that she does. Why she blindly defends someone she barely knows? One aspect of the book that bothered me was how the rich people in town were portrayed as shallow and bad, all of them. There is some sterotyping done in the book that detracts a bit.

This is a great cozy. There are likable characters, realistic dialogue and an fun plot with twists and turns. When the book ended found myself wanting more of the Tallie Graver mysteries. I am looking forward to the next in the series.

I love this series. And this installment did not disappoint. The main character Tallie is a no nonsense but sweet person. No sneaking around and keeping secrets from the police. She steps right in and gets the job done.

Tallie Graver is making a new life after divorcing her ex-husband, back in her hometown. Driving a hearse in the family business and starting up her own cleaning company keeps her busy, but not too busy for her boyfriend Max.
Unhappy about running into the nasty friend of her ex, Preston, she's even more unhappy when he intrudes upon the job she's trying to bid....and ruins her cleaned room, one that was to determine who got the contract.
When she finds the body of her winning competitor for the job, dead in a dumpster at the site, she wants to help the police find the killer. As she finds out more about the deceased, she realizes she never knew her at all. She has suspects, digs for motives, but doesn't see who it really is until the end, when the motive is determined.
There are plenty of possible suspects, some she didn't believe did it, but the fact that they lied to the police didn't bode well. Some she was on the fence about, until a gossiping friend gave her more information.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC because it sounded intriguing...and it was. I recommend it as an enjoyable way to pass some time.

Carpet Diem by Misty Simon is the fourth book in the series and the best so far.

Misty Simon has done it again with her newest book, Carpet Diem.
Tallie Gravers is a fun, exuberant character, who is very easy to love.
Tallie is still putting her life back together after a disastrous first marriage. Working at her family's funeral home isn't really her ideal job, but she isn't sure of exactly what she wants to do.
Her boyfriend Max is extremely supportive and is willing to do most anything to keep her happy.
When she has the opportunity to land a big job cleaning houses, she is eager to to get her hands dirty. Unfortunately, there is some competition, and Tallie has to go up against a new friend in order to secure the job.
As we all know, nothing ever goes well for Tallie, and her knack for finding dead bodies doesn't disappoint in this phenomenal addition to the series.
Carpet Diem kept me guessing until the very end. I was shocked at the reveal, certain I had finally identified the murderer.
I can't wait for more in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book.

I enjoy the characters and like how the sheriff eventually lets Tallie help solve the case (knowing she is going to look into it anyway!) The relationships between the characters is nice and I like the town. The relationship between Tallie and her boyfriend is progressing nicely.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great read. I could never guess who the killer was until the very end. Well-crafted mystery, engaging storyline and wonderful characters. I enjoyed the banter between the main character Tallie Graver and Burton, Chief of police. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Highly recommend.

Thank you to Misty Simon, NetGalley, and Kensington for an ARC of this book.

This series is so much fun, and I think this book was the best one yet! I adore Tallie, she is all over the place yet grounded. The fact that the author can depict her like that speaks volume for the writing. I love how everything has progressed character wise as well. The mystery was perfectly done, with just enough of a curve ball at the end to make you scratch your head. A wonderful series and an awesome new part of it!
