A great plot involving Jill and Greg as they head off on a Thanksgiving vacation with some friends, but what starts out as a fun and relaxing trip turns sinister when one of the friends discovers a mummified hand with a big diamond engagement ring on it. To make matters worse a local group of guys starts making things uncomfortable for the vacationing group. This series has excellent characters with engaging personalities that draw you in and keep you wanting more time with them. Add that to great plotting and you have a wonderfully entertaining read that will keep you turning pages furiously as you can't wait to see what happens next. If you haven't read the entire series, you absolutely should. I can't wait for the next full length story in this series to come out as the novellas have been fun to read, but I am ready to be able to spend more time with these characters!

A Very Mummy Holiday is the 11th book in Lynn Cahoon's Tourist Trap series and a novella. This is a very quick read and I was able to finish it in a few hours, making this a great option for reading in the car or on a plane or simply when time is limited. Ms. Cahoon follows her successful formula in this novella, bringing together Jill and Greg with Kathy and Blake for a pre-Thanksgiving glamping vacation at a beachside cabin complex in Oregon. The owners and their son Caleb live in the other two homes. Caleb is a grizzled and depressed young man who's been mourning the disappearance of his fiancee and the shroud of suspicion that's been hanging over his head ever since. Determined not to let the gloom get them down, the couples head out dune buggying and run into a buggy gang that gives them pause and the jitters. Of course there's a mystery to solve, but given the short and quick pace of this novella I don't want to give too much away. The author finally moves Jill and Greg's relationship along in cozy, subtle way and the introduction of a new couple bodes well for the series, too. Well done, Ms. Cahoon!

A Thanksgiving on the Oregon coast turns from holiday fun to investigating an old murder case for Jill and her friends. When a group from South Cove gathers at an isolated beach rental cabin, - murder is sure to follow! The book was fast-paced and while I had two suspects in mind, I was never quite sure "whodunit" until the very end!

The Tourist Trap mysteries are one of my favorite series. I admire Jill and her determination to have her coffeeshop/bookstore be a success, her loyalty to her friends and community and her natural curiosity and sleuthing abilities. A Very Mummy Holiday, though a short book, has all the qualities of a longer book in the series. The relationship between Jill and Greg is the perfect balance of mystery and romance and of course, there's the lovely Emma - Jill's wonderful Lab!

A cozy read you'll love!

I received an ARC from NetGalley for a fair and honest review of this book.

While this novella was quite enjoyable it was compressed and the story was not as fleshed out as the usual Tourist Trap Mysteries are.

Jill Gardner, her boyfriend Greg King and her golden retriever Emma have gone on vacation with their friends Blake and Kathi from South Cove. They are in Oregon for the Thanksgiving week and as usual where Jill goes, trouble follows. While they are riding along the dunes, Blake and Kathi have a slight accident and they find a mummified body in the sand. By the gorgeous diamond engagement ring on the finger the local police immediately suspect the fiance. Jill and Greg have other ideas and set about trying to clear Caleb's name. Add into the mix a scary trail riding gang and they are in for a frightening week. Jill wants the mystery solved before her aunt Jackie and her boyfriend Harrold arrive from South Cove, along with her best friend Amy and her boyfriend Justin later in the week.

This story while interesting as a novella would have been better if it were longer and the story was more involved like the ones that take place in South Cove.

A Very Mummy Holiday by Lynn Cahoon is an adorable novella situated into the Tourist Trap Mystery series.

This is my second dabbling into this series and it does just keep getting better.

I enjoyed the quick jaunt to the Oregon coast for a mini vacation and the change in scenery. I enjoyed the quick mystery, and while I was able to figure out the culprit, it did not lessen the enjoyable plot line for me.

I also enjoyed that finally we got a taste (maybe it has happened in previous installments that I have not had the privilege to read yet at this time, but doesn’t seem like it as the relationship dynamics did not hint in that direction) of Greg and Jill quazi-working together to dig up some facts and sleuthing to find the killer. I enjoyed seeing them work as a team, and I hope this is a foreshadowing of great things to come.

An enjoyable, quick read.

5/5 stars

I really enjoyed this fast paced novella. It's just enough to keep me satisfied while waiting for the next book in the Tourist Trap series. The book was loaded with twists and turns and as always the characters are fun.

This is a novella in the Tourist Trap series and is by far the best one and most like Lynn Cahoon's other amazing cozy mysteries! The novellas are set earlier in the series. Jill, Greg, and their new friends Blake and Kathi go to a cabin in Oregon for the week of Thanksgiving. While they are out riding the dunes in 4-wheeler vehicles, Kathi finds something unexpected which leads to a cozy mystery. It kept me guessing. Aunt Jackie, Harrold, Amy and Justin arrive for Thanksgiving. This novella was very enjoyable and was a quick read!

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC.

I only recently discovered this series in my public library’s e-book collection. I must say that I’m hooked; charming, slightly quirky, these cozy mysteries are a delight to read!

A relaxing holiday is never quite what it seems, but these characters are up to the task! Full of thrills, secrets, and mystery, the reader will be not be able to put this book down until finishing the last page.

I always enjoy a visit from Jill, Greg, and the gang from South Cove and this Thanksgiving-themed novella was sweet, if a little rushed. This story would have been wonderful spread out into a full-length book, rather than squeezed into fewer than a hundred pages and the idea of a mummy seemed more appropriate for a Halloween tale. This was a quick read and, while fairly predictable, it was fun and enjoyable. I look forward to the next full-length installment from Lynn Cahoon.

This was a fun read. Jill and Greg are on vacation for Thanksgiving in OR. While running the dunes, the couple they are with discover a body, mummified in the sand. Even though they are out of town, they still become involved in solving the mystery. Good plot and great characters. I felt like I was on the OR coast as I read this book!

A Very Mummy Holiday started out to be a nice vacation for Thanksgiving week. Sand dunes rides with friends turns up a murder. A few bad eggs try to spoil a good time but they meet their match.. Enjoyable read.

I always enjoy a visit with Jill, Greg and their friends, and this Thanksgiving themed story was no exception. It takes Jill and Greg away from South Cove and their jobs there for what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend on the Oregon coast with friends. But, once again, Jill finds herself involved in an investigation when, during a ride on the local sand dunes, they find the mummified body of a woman who appears to be the missing fiancee of a member of the family they are renting the house from. Jill and Greg believe Caleb, the finance, when he claims to be innocent and they set out to find out who really killed her, finding themselves involved with a local motorcycle gang at the same time. This was an entertaining story and I look forward to spending time with Jill again soon.

I look forward to each installment of this series. I like Jill and Greg's relationship and that he now knows he can't stop her from looking into the mysteries. I enjoy that they have taken a trip to a new location as well.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really love this series but this latest offering just wasn't as good as the previous ones.
I think the novella length is what affected my enjoyment. If it had been a full length book, it might have been better, but I found some of the characters annoying.
I hope the next book in the series is full length and not a novella.

A Very Mummy Holiday is the latest novella in Lynn Cahoon’s Tourist Trap mystery series, and it is a good one! Based on the title, I anticipated that it would be centered around Halloween but was pleasantly surprised to find that the featured holiday was Thanksgiving. Jill and Greg have left the confines of South Cove and are embarking on a much-needed vacation to the Oregon coast, accompanied by their friends Kathi and Blake. The foursome encounter a mummified body on the sand dunes that turns out to be that of a girl who has been missing for over a year. When the local police zero in on the son of their hosts (who had been engaged to the missing girl) as the prime –and only – suspect, Jill and company find themselves fending off bikers and police predilections in order to solve the mystery.

As with prior Tourist Trap novellas, A Very Mummy Holiday is a quick and entertaining read, and it is one of the strongest novellas in the series. The comfortable vibe of South Cove has traveled along with Jill and her friends, making the Oregon coast charming and seemingly familiar. The four featured characters shine in their spotlight, while the visiting hosts and their son are imminently likeable. A South Cove reunion of sorts for the holiday adds to the fun. The mystery, although not complicated, involves multiple suspects and a very satisfactory solution. Fans of the Tourist Trap series should sit back and enjoy this delightful tale.

Note: I received an ARC of A Very Mummy Holiday from NetGalley, Kensington Books and Lyrical Underground. The above is my honest review.

I received a free copy of A VERY MUMMY HOLIDAY (A Tourist Trap Novella) by Lynn Cahoon in exchange for an honest review. Jill Gardner is excited to spend some couple time with Greg away from their hometown of South Cove, California. Jill’s even looking forward to cementing her new friendship with fellow business owner Kathi Corbin, who, along with her beau Blake Jennings, is sharing a cabin with Jill and Greg. The couples are not in residence for even a day when they are informed of a local mystery. The resort owners’ future daughter-in-law, Dania, went missing about a year before. The two visiting couples find Dania before the end of the day, but she won’t be marrying the resort owners’ son, Caleb. When local law enforcement officers gleefully brag they can now arrest Caleb for the murder, Jill and Greg team up to figure out if the seemingly distraught Caleb was really behind the disappearance.

I enjoy both the series and the novellas. I liked this story; it was a quick and entertaining read. This novella takes place over Thanksgiving week and is set approximately one year before MEMORIES AND MURDER and some time before KILLER PARTY (TT, Books 10 & 9). Because the novellas are not in sync with the novels, I wish the publisher would number the novellas in reference to the timing of both the other novellas and the novels; for instance, prequels could be numbered 0.9, 0.8, 0.7, etc.; novellas between the first two novels could be numbered 1.1, 1.2, etc.; and any additional tales added in the timeline between prior novellas could be numbered like 1.11, 1.12, 1.125, 1.13, etc. It’s a little jarring to pick up a novella with tales about couples who are no longer together and more than a little confusing until the reader can figure out where the story falls in the overall timeline.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book.

This was a fun, quick cozy mystery. Although it was only short, it has all the usual elements you've come to expect from a cozy, without the rehasing of events and conversations to solve the crime. I liked all the characters and I thought the mystery was good, if not a little obvious for the reader to solve. I've only read one of the early books in this series, but it was no problem falling back in step wiith the characters.

If you're in the mood for a short crime story, then this will be right up your alley. Four stars.

Another great installation to the Tourist Trap Mysteries. Greg, Jill and Friends are on a mini vacation to the beach. Kathi accidentally discovers a dead body. Is the police department negligent in its previous investigation of this missing person? Is more going on? Do thugs have more freedom and latitude in town than rest of the populace?

See what is going on behind the scenes and what the gang discovers in unraveling this whodunit.

I am never disappointed by this author.

I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley. Thanks to them, the publisher and the author. I am not required to leave a positive review.

Another winner from Lynn Cahoon!

Jill and Greg are vacationing in Oregon for Thanksgiving when their friend literally falls into a corpse.

Jill does her thing and we have a very sad man, a doppelganger, and a biker gang.

This novella is a very quick read and the mystery develops at a very fast paced.
