I enjoyed the format of this book versus the standard baby name books in alphabetical order. Each chapter has a different category of unique names, along with their meanings and in some cases alternate spelling.

Great ideas for those that are tired of the same names over and over again. I still haven't decided on a middle name for my daughter but this book gave me some great ones to add to my list.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book felt very limited and superficial in it's baby name selections. I would've like to see some more nontraditional ideas in there as well. It also will be very dated with time.

Am I pregnant? Nope. Do I plan on having children any time soon? Absolutely not. Did I still want to read this book? YUP.

This book is separated into names by categories (i.e. Mythology, Pop Culture, Fairy-tales) and then within each chapter, the names are laid out alphabetical with explanations for each of them.

One thing I wish all names had is the pronunciation of that name. Some of the names have it, but not all. & as I am unfamiliar with most names, I think this would be helpful. Also, one of the name recommendations is Isis? I don't know how much of a hit that name will be in this day and age.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If I ever have a daughter one day, I would love to name her after a strong female. I was nervous that I would read this book and it would be all the names I've heard 100 times. But it's not! It's cute, original names with great meanings!

I recommend this book to expecting mothers, or if you're like me and just like to plan your life 10 years in advance.

I love the premise of this book but I'm pretty sure I could put together a more thorough version in a weekend. There are about 133 names listed (you know it's a short baby name book when you can count them) and they're broken down into categories like women from mythology and popular culture. Unfortunately, some of them are probably too weird for most parents to consider (hello Anat, Egyptian goddess of fertility and war, with "a reputation for violence") and many of them are mostly generic names that happen to have a character somewhere in history, literature or TV who was remotely "epic" (such as Elle from Legally Blonde or Carol from Captain Marvel).

There are so many characters I can think of who were pretty epic who are not included. My 19 y/o daughter Rhiannon is named after a Welsh goddess who protected animals and was also the inspiration for a pretty awesome Fleetwood Mac song ("Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night and wouldn't you love to love her..."). There's no Rhiannon though, just as most of the epic queens or women from history are left out. My son's friend Eleanor was named after Eleanor Roosevelt, who was pretty epic in my book. Or how about Laka, Hawaiian goddess of hula, fertility and love? Meanwhile, the book has names like Annie, Bella and Ninfa (the Spanish word for nymph).

This would be a good book to flip through for inspiration, but I wish it were more thorough.

I read a temporary digital ARC for the purpose of review.

This was a fun short read to get a good idea of different baby girl names. I liked how names were broken into categories, there were a few I haven't heard before and appreciated the sounding out of the word. I think this was a good resource book, I kind of was hoping for a little more though. Quite a few of the names were from Harry Potter/ Game of Thrones.

Great book for mothers to find strong names. Just alone the title stands out because no one ever thought to gather names for girls on the basis that those names aren’t cute. Now this can give moms the ideas of what to name their baby girls, whether mom is a karate champion, a construction worker, or even a bibliophile like me. The variety this book has will give you awesome names to decide by the time your due date comes. Hope everyone finds enjoyment and a great name. Thank you netgally for giving me a copy for early review.

I appreciated the background and origins information, but there really wasn't anything here I'd call epic, and nothing new. It's a solid name reference book if you are looking for gendered names, but it's already dated in an era where gendered names are becoming a thing of the past.

I am 63 years old, so there will be no more naming of babies for me… However, I am a fiction writer and loved all the many suggestions for awesome girl names for my characterS.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a quick read and I enjoyed the references and stories behind each of the names. Some of the names are popular, some are historic, some are traditional, and some are very unique.

I loved this book. It’s more of a guide than anything else but I’m happy and grateful that a book featuring badass girl names was published. A lot of these names are well known and I have to say my favorite chapter is the one with the mythological names because the author even included some history about the Greek Gods which was fascinating to read.

A cute book if you’re looking to name your child or if you’re like me and love to pick certain names that represent something for characters in your writing.

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this ARC.
