Very interesting read especially in light of a Covid world and even more reliance on technology now more than ever. This book almost feels prophetic in helping us navigate a new world.

this was interesting for the first half but I think I would have gotten more from it as an audiobook. A lot of the concepts were not new to me, but I would recommend this book for other readers who are more interested on the subject.

An interesting topic but the pacing is a bit dull.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

I'm trying to read more non fiction books and this title caught my attention. It's well researched, but sadly it felt slow paced and I struggled to keep on reading it. It took me 8 weeks to finish and that's a lot for me. For me it didn't had to cover all the VR possibilities and cut short on some of that to stay bit more entertaining read. Interesting nonetheless.
Thanks netgalley and the publishers for giving me the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a well researched and well written book on the importance of teaching empathy in a technology obsessed society. The author paints a disturbing picture of how we are losing our ability to feel empathy for each other as we become engrossed in social media. I found the author's argument that many of us fail to really listen and understanding each other's point of view on social media glaringly realistic. We misuse technology in our efforts "to be heard" and portray false pictures of our lives in an attempt to get attention and feel less lonely.

I'm relived to hear there are programs and apps that are beginning to tackle the issue of lack of empathy. I do believe that in our current polarized society, a glimpse into the lives and emotions of others could help us reconnect.
Overall, eye opening and contemporary.

Honestly not my favorite book, there was a lot of good information in it but it was just really slow paced and often got really boring to read. Took me like 2 months to finish and I usually finish a book in 2 days.

I found this an interesting book based mainly on empathy and social media. How we lack empathy now, which I have to agree with. Things are becoming different in the world now with social media and I don’t believe it’s a happy place as it used to be. Full of lots of interesting facts and figures. It also talks about VR, Robots and AI.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

This book is well-written and overall interesting. It does bring up a lot of valid questions and information that I didn’t know. The author clearly did a thorough research and does a good job exposing different perspectives on VR and AI technology, but the book is just not what I was expecting.

I feel like the title of the book is misleading. It makes you believe the author will be talking about the future of feelings but that’s not really what happens. She does talk about the future, a lot, specifically about technology. When it comes to feelings though, something so complex for us, we mostly are presented with multiple concepts of empathy and how technology can be used to enhance it or not. The book should be named The Future of Empathy or The Future of Emphatic Technology (term author uses herself).

Maybe the blame is on me for creating expectations but I don’t give this book more then 3 stars.

I struggled reading this book. About 1/3 of the way through, I started skimming and skipping over parts. I felt the book focused heavily on VR, which I was not prepared for. I strongly agree with the idea of the book- making sure empathy doesn't get lost in a tech-filled world is crucial. However, I felt this book could have been summarized into something half it's length or even shorter.

I found this book to be honest and timely. I work in a middle school and see the lack of empathy my students have for others. They all want instant gratification and do not care how things affect others. I have been saying for years that this is due to the amount of time they spend using technology, as they are not using the interpersonal skills that come with interactions with others over time. The author really explores how our society is affected by all of this. It was written in a way that anyone can understand the points the author is making.
