What a wonderful resource for all parents. This book makes it easy to share with any child families that are different from theirs. It's hard to fins children's stories with LGBT parents. I would definitely recommend this book.

Even though this book was published in 2011, the message still stands strong today. There is this whole debate that we shouldn't be teaching children this until they're old enough, when in fact, children always ask these types of questions. Children are naturally curious and there is always an age-appropriate way to approach these topics. Families come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors. I wish I had this kind of book to read when I was growing up!

My heart is beyond words. I sat with my kids today and we talked for over an hour after reading this book. To us, this book is just common sense because that's how we live our lives. But the questions that they had on why books like this need to be written and why it isn't considered more normal for a child to have 2 parents of the same gender.... My heart broke and was healed all in one with how amazing this book was. It triggered a conversation that we might not have otherwise thought to have and I am 100% here for that.

The young one in the book goes through the usual explanations one might expect of how both mommies are his mom, regardless of what needs doing. If he needs one thing that isn't one parent's forte, then his other parent steps in and vice versa. <3

This book was adorable! It was so sweet and educational at the same time while still being a very simple and real children's book that I think would be a great resource in libraries or homes. The illustrations were adorable and the rhyming sentences made this book very pleasing to read out loud or in your head. A perfect read for pride month or any time of the year.

Happy pride everyone, this a fun little picture that opens up the idea that families can come in all different shapes. I loved reading this with my little girl.

I absolutely loved this book. It has excellent illustrations and easy-to-read rhyming sentences, making this a great resource for parents, caregivers and educators to introduce empathy and tolerance to the children in their care. AND it has the much-needed benefit of bringing inclusivity to any bookshelves. I believe every child should feel represented. I have read A Tale of Two Daddies and A Tale of Two Mommies by the same author back to back, and my heart is singing with just how wholesome these are!

The cover art is what caught my attention, and the illustrations coupled with the poetic way the story was written brought everything together beautifully. Of course children are curious! I think the narrative of having the three converse and ask questions was a great way to facilitate this story. You can tell by the conversation between the three children that our little MC’s family is normalized :)

At the end of the day, love is love. The clever way the illustrations never quite show us what the mommies look like was another plus for me. It’s easy to get caught up in the stereotypes of what “lesbians” look like. This left it up to the reader's imagination! At the end of the day, love is love. Nothing more to say than this book is absolutely sweet, I loved the QTBIPOC representation, and this book is going to become a staple in my classroom going forward <3

Stories like this are so important in a day and age where non-traditional family types are so prevalent, and still so demonized in some states. This story really humanizes these characters and lets you feel happy that this story can be told.

This was not what I was expecting, but I love what the book gave me. I felt like I got to know Mommy and Momma throughout the story, that’s how much characterization was given to characters who never speak and are barely even shown. My heart feels warm.

Vanita is back with another timeless, important and charming narrative for those who have non-traditional family systems. The target audience is definitely a younger age group, although the message is geared more towards explaining that two mommies are the same as any two parents- the same amount of love, laughter and learning as any other family.

Very cute, would recommend :-)

Bright and colorful illustrations of a black or biracial male-presenting child and their white, femme presenting Momma and Mommy going about their daily lives. The Momma and Mommy are only seen at the torso/knee level (I interpret it as a child's point of view, which is fun an interesting perspective). We follow their child explaining to their friends, a white, red-headed girl and an Asian boy, which roles their Momma and Mommy fulfill for all the things in their lives. It is a very sweet book that answers each of these questions in a gentle and loving manner.

(I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.)

This book offers is a heartwarming explanation of the roles that the mothers of a little boy play in his life. Who helps him climb a tree? Or who takes him fishing? Momma, Mommy or both?

This children's book tries to show that the relationship that this boy has with his mothers is not really any different than the one a child would have with a father and a mother. It was short, cute and maybe a little repetitive, but I'm guessing a child would really like this. I believe the target of this one is definitely a very young audience (maybe 3-5)!

A beautiful story that teaches kids that no matter what gender your parents are, they are just as much parents as their own.

DISCLAIMER: The book is given by NetGalley and the author in exchange of an honest review. All the review written is not related to any personal issues or connection.

TRIGGER: This is a sweet children book with LGBTIQ-themed. The illustrations provided are very lovely.

The book starts by a convo among three children in the beach. One of them has two mummies. He refers his mum as Mommy and another one as Momma. He also tells how he lives his life with them.

I do believe that children are the mirror of their parents. And with the issues and things that happen in the homophobic society, LGBTIQ actors are often marginalised. As an impact of that marginalisation, their children are often experience some unpleasant experiences from the people around them. Therefore, I am so blessed for reading this book. It is very cute and it helps - not only the parents but also the children for not being so judgmental but to understand and to see the arena of LGBTIQ from different angles and perspectives.

We read this story and the companion book A Tale of Two Daddies to our children. It was nice to be able to have this conversation through a cute illustrated book as many of our students have same-sex parents. We love to be able to normalize LGBTQ+ and diversity in our classroom.

Books like this are important. I always enjoy when books show kids different family structure. The illustrations are well done.

A sweet children’s book which supports the normalising of two-mother family.

I appreciated that this book isn’t in the style of “so who is the mum and who is the dad” or “which woman is the man in the relationship” but it is three children having a conversation, with childhood innocence, asking quite plainly; which mom does_____”

Short sentences and one-two syllable words this book is easily followed and clear for junior readers.

Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for providing me with this author review e-copy.
