This was a delight to read! My first book by Cynthia M. Campbell and I would highly enjoy reading more from her. Christmas is my favorite time of year, it is when we celebrate the birth of Christ. This was so interesting, if your on the fence I say give it a try!

The book was short and sweet but would make a fun little study for the month of December. One chapter per week is the set up, visiting the imagined "houses" of the gospels. I enjoyed the houses analogy. There is a section on then illustrators thoughts behind the draeings of the houses and a section of questions at the end of the book to go along with the study. I thought it could have been a tad longer, but I get making a study on the shorter end during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season to allow for a time of reflection.

This is a very interesting advent bible study through the lens of the 4 gospels. I am not that into organized religion, but do like to explore the spiritual side of things. I think both groups would find this to be a nice advent study

I'm looking for an Advent study to use in Bible study this December and that's when I came across this brand new one. Looking at each Gospel account of the birth of Jesus, or the effect of his incarnation on the book, Campbell walks readers through Advent. A very creative take for something different in your small group.

Each and every Advent, I look forward to daily readings to help prepare my heart for what is to come during the season. It is a way to center and focus my thoughts, attitudes and priorities. One of the joys of the season is spending time with family and friends, in their homes, with the warmth of the joy of the season. Each and every home celebrates the birth of Christ, but the decorations, foods, and traditions are a little different in each home. That was the enjoyable factor in this study: each book of the Gospels shows a different facet of the Christmas story. This short study encouraged my heart to ponder and meditate on the miraculous event of God sending His son, our Savior, and experiencing this celebration through the “home” of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John. This book can be used as a group study, and actually has a really helpful guide for leading each week, or as an individual study.

Much like a Christmas tour of homes, author Cynthia Campbell takes readers on an Advent tour of the four Gospel "homes," helping them experience Christmas from various perspectives. Drawing upon the church's lectionary, Campbell's Book, "Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes" takes readers through Mark 1:1-11, Matthew 1:18-25; 2:13-15, 19-23; Luke 2:1-14; and John 1:1-4, 14. Each of the four short chapters represents a weekly reading, and each reading features some background on the Gospel author as well as some major points readers don't want to miss. The book also includes a section of "Prayers and Questions for Reflection" for each week's readings, great material for either personal devotions or for family or group times during the Advent season. Besides that, the book also includes some original artwork of each "Gospel Home" by artist, architect, and Bible teacher Kevin Burns, who also wrote theological reflections on each of the drawings. Readers looking to make sure their holiday is Christ-focused will find a valuable resource in "Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes."

Note: I received a copy of the book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for this honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.
