Cara Hunter is the only crime/thriller author i've read where each new installment lives up to the previous one; in fact I think her books just keep getting better and better, and each one leaves me with chills. This one was no different and I was utterly hooked as soon as I started this book. Cara Hunter manages to write a really gripping police procedural drama about horrific crimes but it never seems outlandish and always seems to be within the realms of possibility. As horrific the actions of the characters in this book, I could really imagine this happening, and that is what puts Cara a foot above the rest.

This story starts with Faith; a young teenage girl who is found wandering the streets; beaten and crying, but refuses to tell anyone what has happened. What the detectives quickly come to learn is that Faith is transgender but no-one outside of her family; based on this information they begin to think this was a hate crime however when another teenage girl goes missing they must re-think the motivations of the criminal. I felt that the topic was dealt with really sensitively when it could have been a real mess. When the second teenage girls body is found, Fawley must confront the fact that a man he put away years ago for rape and murder might just be innocent. But Fawley is confident that he had the right man, and we soon learn that he has a personal stake in this outside of his job. What happens throughout the rest of the book is a number of twists and turns, but all of which seem to be believable and really had me hooked. The last bits of the book where the reveals start to come out had me shocked to the core and I could not stop reading. I'm not actually going to say anymore about the twists but it really chilled and horrified me.

I literally did not see any of the twists coming and each one had me even more shocked; the reveal of first who attacked Faith, but then who attacked Sasha had me on the edge of my seat and had me utterly flabbergasted. It utterly chilled me but I had no idea it was coming. We also get to know more about Fawley's past in this book and it really developed his character further which I loved... it's also set us up some threads for future books which I think will be really interesting when they come into play. I also enjoyed again that his colleagues got to come to the forefront of this story again and we get to know a little bit more about each of them; especially Somer who is becoming one of my favourites.

I think what really amazes me is that this book is full of different threads and each character is utterly independent with their own backstory and growth, but it never becomes confusing and the story is always easy to follow. I also enjoy that we only find out things as the police find them out as it really adds to the tension of the story.

I am now really tempted to re-read at least her first book. Overall this is an utterly amazing read and I would whole-hardheartedly recommend this book, and the entire series to EVERYONE. You will not regret it one bit.

I'd not read any Cara Hunter books when I got this one so I wasn't sure quite what to expect. This is a tale about a teenage girl who is found wandering in a distressed state by a taxi driver. She claims that it was just a prank but the story she tells suggests something rather different. She refuses to press charges so one of the first things is to find out why. When another girl goes missing the case takes on additional dimensions. Is this a serial offender and could it possibly be linked to an old case that DI Fawley was involved in.

The book follows DI Fawley and his team as they try to make sense of the events surrounding these cases. The book successfully drags you this way and that. It allows you to say - "Ah maybe it's xxx" and then promptly reverse the thought which is decent enough in this sort of story. The involvement of the old case worked well for me too. It kept me wanted to return to the story.

I confess I found this fairly readable with interesting characters involved in it. There were twists, turns and red herrings enough to keep me entertained. I think maybe I would have got into the story more quickly had I read the previous books but it works well enough as a standalone book for me. My slight irritation was with the writing style. I found the sections rather disjointed and often found that I had no idea who the section I was reading was about. The use of modern aspects in the text such as webchats and twitter was something I'd not really come across much before but didn't particularly bother me.

I'll certainly read another earlier Cara Hunter when I get the chance as overall, I enjoyed it. It's a decent enough "police thriller". However, other than the style of presentation ,I'm just not quite sure how long the book will stay with me. I guess it never quite got under my skin.

Not going to lie, still brilliant but not quite on par with the previous books. No real motive for killing earlier in novel, which is a big no no for 'whodunnit' fans; honestly there was no breadcrumb trail that you could follow to discover the murderer. Enjoyed the Fawley back story, but having invested so much in him as an honest cop, I was slightly disappointed. Maybe felt a bit rushed, as if publication was earlier than the author wanted. As an aside, much as I enjoy the use of timetables, emails etc in a printed book, it doesn't come across the same way in an ebook and became slightly annoying. I'm sorry if this comes across as a negative review, but I absolutely love these Fawley novels by Caro Hunter and this was not the best of them.

Oh my goodness, where do I start!
Cara Hunter is one of my absolute favourite authors. With this fourth instalment, in the DI Adam Fawley series, she did not disappoint!
I don't know how she does it, but right from the very beginning, she had me hooked.
The story begins with a girl found wandering the streets in a clear state of distress and it is obvious that she has been through something terribly traumatic, although she doesn't want to discuss it or press charges.
The story is very in keeping with today's society and has issues which many people are probably facing right now, Cara handles it beautifully and in a very well-informed manner.
Whilst the team are investigating the first case, another girl disappears in similar circumstances and it is clear they must act fast.
It all points to a possible link to a historical case Fawley worked on many years ago, but how could it? He put the right person away, didn't he?
There were so many threads all leading in different directions that left me guessing constantly; I felt that I was against the clock, trying to find out the truth. I was amazed that she didn't drop a single thread: nothing was left unsolved!
I love the way she incorporates the police procedural investigation into her stories as well as the Twitter feeds. This really builds up the tension and you, the reader, really feel like you are part of the team.
I actually feel like Cara's books get better and better each time, I couldn't put this down and seriously can't wait until the next one!
Full of twists and turns: some so shocking that you won't see them coming.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Penguin & Cara Hunter for my ARC in return for my honest review.

Fashion student Faith Appleford is found by a taxi driver stumbling down the road, something has happened to her but she will not admit to being attacked and refuses to cooperate with the police, Adam Fawley and his team know there is more to her alleged attack than meets the eye but without her cooperation they are unable to proceed any further, however when another girl goes missing the attack is linked and an investigation underway

A cracking plot which does keep you guessing all the way through

I would highly recommend this well written detective novel. I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down. This is the fourth book in the series, and I had read the first three. It was great to find out more about the familiar characters, who are all quite different individuals but who blend well into a team. This time DI Adam Fawley's part is in the first person narrative, so we read those parts from his individual perspective. We continue to learn more about his home life, with a surprising revelation or two. There is a strong plot with plenty of twists and turns. Despite reading lots of crime fiction, I didn't guess the ending, which makes this book 5 star for me.

Although crime is my favourite genre, I find it incredibly hard to find authors that match up to my admittedly exacting standards, Many thrillers are too silly and far-fetched, while my preferred police procedurals can be too plodding or with too much emphasis on the personal dramas of the investigative team. Discovering Cara Hunter, then, was like an answer to my prayers: a police procedural, but properly gripping and well written, with the pacing of a thriller yet always within the realms of possibility. And All The Rage more than lives up to the promise of her first three novels. We're back with DI Adam Fawley's team in Oxford as they investigate an attack on a teenage girl and the disappearance of another girl, which may be linked to a potential miscarriage of justice from Fawley's past. As always with Hunter, the plot is packed full of twists which make it impossible to predict what will come next. And I really appreciated her sensitive and well-informed handling of a narrative strand involving transgender. Overall a fantastic read, very highly recommended. Fans of Caz Frears or Angela Marsons will find much to enjoy here (although I much prefer Hunter's writing).

4.5/5⭐ !!

Another great book by The Thriller Queen.

I have read and loved all previous Cara Hunter books and they never disappoint me.

All The Rage wasn't gonna be less than the rest!

I loved every single bit about this book.

I love every character, even Quinn by now, and it was so good to know about them again.

I love Erica Somer. She is such a hard worker. I am so glad all her work paid off in this book too!

I loved the introduction of Ruth Gallagher's character and how well she dealt with the situation. The relationship within the team is so healthy that it's impossible not to care about them.

The first case was a very tricky one. They were dealing with such a delicate issue that I was scared. It was talked about with so much care and respect that I was very surprised!

The second one shocked me! I couldn't see the connection between the two of them but, of course, the team got there and solved it, didn't they?

I loved to know a bit more about Adam's personal life (present and past) and how his relationship with his wife is.

And that epilogue... What?? Can't wait for the next one!!

The 4th instalment of Cara Hunter's - DI Adam Fawley and his team

I could not put this down, it's fast paced, completely gripping
Full of crafty twists and turns throughout
And a little cliff hanger at the end.

If you haven't read Cara Hunter - where have you been.

Thank you netgalley, Cara Hunter and Penguin for allowing me to read and review this book.

Another 5 star read in the DI Fawley series. I read the book in one day, I literally couldn’t put it down. There were so many strands to this that led down so many different paths but all came together in the end. I absolutely did not guess who it was at all, it was very clever! And seems as though it’s been nicely set up for the fifth book in the series (which I already cannot wait for!). Thank you to Cara Hunter for these awesome books and to Netgalley for the advance copy!

Another fantastic book from Cara Hunter, who has very quickly become my favourite author! Quick paced and keeps you guessing until the end, I love the use of images throughout the book, the emails and twitter comments also giving a great insight into the story. A new character that is introduced is also great and I hope we will see more of her in the future. The one thing I love about Cara’s books is you get a real insight into the characters lives without it overtaking the main storyline. Just another fantastic book :) thank you netgalley and Cara for letting me read an early copy!

Fans of Cara Hunter won't be disappointed. And new readers will definitely fall in love with this series!

The present is twisted and wicked, the past is catching up with Fawley. The pace of the novel makes it addictive, as always, and at the same time, the author never chooses the easy way, she never takes shortcuts. You have to wait with the cops, you have to work with the team. There are moments when you feel they've reached a giant wall and nothing makes sense. A detail appears and the case suddenly takes another turn.

A terrible attack on a teenage girl brings a lot of questions. Was it a personal assault? Is there a predator with sick plans in Oxford? When some details rang a bell for Fawley, I got a nasty feeling that this case was going to be hell. I was definitely right! All The Rage as a deviously sick plot with plenty of shady corners where many protagonists hide, waiting to be discovered to hand a piece of the truth. But what truth?

The case is so complex, full of shadows that explore the past and hide the present, everything is just so perfectly messy, as in real life, and the horror? Well, the horrors you use in this book could be tomorrow's news, it's frightening, but also absolutely brilliant. With its roots strongly anchored in our world, the book tackles issues such as gender, violence, friendship, revenge... The list goes on. The author never loses sight of the bigger picture, yet she offers the reader many landscapes, many small paths, and a stunning and genuine reflection on what our society has turned into. Throughout the investigation, we are handed information, but we only get what Cara Hunter wants us to have and my fingers tingled every time I felt there was something coming but I didn't have it served on a plate right away! I loved that feeling of being in good hands!

Cut into chapters and paragraphs short enough to lull you into a sense of safely and control, with your 'one more page' resolution, All The Rage kept me up until 3am. There was no way I could simply book the book on the nightstand and leave it to rest for a few hours. This novel is like cake. You cut a small part to eat with your favourite TV show, and by the end of the night, you've eaten everything!

As always, the chance of voices, the characterisation, the hours and days passing, to mirror real investigations and not another CSI show, make All The Rage even more powerful.

I was delighted to delve deeper into the lives and thoughts of the team members. Fawley's world is big enough so that everyone gets room to grow and add their touch to the book. I love smiling at a comment made by a character I recognise, or being surprised by another's reaction. We're dealing with real cops with real personalities here!

And that ending? Oh the wait for the next book is going to be unbearable!

I’m a big fan of Cara Hunter’s books - I love a good police procedural and these are among the best.

A young woman, fashion student Faith Appleford, is found stumbling along the road by a taxi driver; it’s clear something awful has happened to her, but Faith denies being attacked and refuses to speak to the police. Adam Fawley and his team suspect there’s more to the situation than meets the eye, which indeed quickly proves to be the case. When another girl goes missing in similar circumstances, things escalate quickly and Adam’s past comes back to haunt him.

It’s an absolutely cracking plot which kept me guessing all the way through, with plenty of surprises, and some truly shocking moments, along the way, not least about Adam himself and his wife Alex. The other police characters are also particularly strong in this series - Everett, Somer, Gislingham and Quinn all have very distinct personalities.

Fantastic read which ends on a bit of a cliffhanger - can’t wait for the next instalment.

I’ve been checking NetGalley every day since May to see if this was available to receive as an ARC. So I was over the moon when it was finally there one day, and my request was approved!
It was so worth the wait, this was back on par with books one and two in the series and utterly fantastic!
This has the same formula as the previous books in the series whereby there are no chapters. This really helps you move through the book at a fast pace. I kept saying “I will just read this small section”, then only one minute had passed, so “oh go on just another little bit”. Before I knew it, I was reading the outcome, and everything had been wrapped up, and I’d finished the book. Such a different and innovative way of presenting a book. I love it!
The story was both controversial and contemporary, covering a topic that is becoming more and more prevalent and commonplace in today’s society. This was handled delicately and came across as if the author had done plenty of research into the subject.
How the author keeps up with all the different threads she has going on throughout the story I do not know. She has a very complex mind to keep it all together and to bring it to a climax that covers everything. She doesn’t drop any of the threads at all. I didn’t see the outcome at all; the author kept a lot very close to her chest. Even though you are along for the ride with the detectives, you are only finding out things when the author is ready for you to. There are lots of little hooks and secrets at the end of each small section. Another ploy to keep you reading as fast as you can. Sometimes you only have to wait for a paragraph to find out what the detective’s had discovered, but other times it’s longer. It is very cleverly executed.
It’s been nine months since I read books two and three, and int did take me a little while to reacquaint myself with the main characters. If you have time before reading this one, it might be worth re-reading the previous books so that you are up to speed with the investigative team’s back story. There were small details that I couldn’t remember, but I had to put those to one side to enjoy this book (unfortunately I was too impatient to read this book and didn’t have time to re-read the others).
Overall, another brilliant read from Cara Hunter. I’m gutted I’ve got to potentially wait over a year to read any follow-ons she may have planned!

‘All the Rage’ is the latest novel in the DI Adam Fawley series, set in Oxford, and in this one the crimes that he is investigating are horrible reminders of a past case that continues to haunt him, for very good reasons.
One of the strengths of the tale is that the identity of the perpetrator of vicious attacks on two teenage girls is not easy to deduce, thanks to Cara Hunter’s meticulous plotting and careful structuring. A big tick as far as I am concerned!
As the investigations advance, Hunter continues to develop the relationships, alliances and tensions within St Aldate’s police station very effectively. Whilst Adam Fawley is still at the centre of the plot, the reader becomes increasingly interested in the rest of the work force as their reactions to the crimes reveal much about their personalities.
Cara Hunter’s exploration of teenage friendship groups is mostly plausible, as is her portrayal of those on the margins. However, it’s difficult to gain a sense of the girls as individuals some of the time – perhaps that’s the point. When together, they are more likely to act as an unthinking group rather than as rational individuals. Mother/daughter relationships are also touched upon and it would have been useful for understanding some individuals’ motives if this area had been delved into further.
Quibbles aside, this is a read that it’s difficult to put down. Hunter is very skilled at developing the plot through a wide range of characters and there are enough cliff-hangers here for a year’s worth of soap opera! The ending is terrifying and enthralling in equal measures – she’s got me hooked for the next in the series now!
My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House UK for a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair review.

Another exciting read from Cara Hunter. This book has all the intrigue and thrills that we can expect from this author, each book just gets better and better. I love that as the series progresses we learn a bit more about the personal lives of all the detectives on the team. I look forward to the next book.

Not many books will make me abandon my well planned reading list, but as soon as I got my grubby little mitts on this yesterday, I dropped what I was reading and dove straight in!
I LOVE this series, so was going in with very high expectations and I am very happy to say that they were well and truly met!
We are back in the world of the wonderful DI Fawley and his team and they have got themselves another twisty case or two!
With excellent plotting, more red herrings, twists and revelations than you can keep up with and some fabulously written characters, this is an absolute dream of a read!
I will say no more, other than if you are already a fan of this series, you will love this. If you aren't yet, you should be!

Praise to Cara Hunter you have done it again!
I read this book in a day I could not put it down I was gripped from the first page.
I was sure I knew who it was but when the twist came in I was shocked.
Adam Fawley is a great character and as each book comes I love learning things about him and his family.
I can not wait to read the next book I have a feeling it’s going to get a bit darker...

I am such a huge fan of this series so thank you to Penguin for letting me have an ARC!

Well I didn’t think Cara Hunter could do it again but I’ve been blown away by All the Rage! I went into this with high expectations so to get a better read than expected tells you how amazing this book is. I’m not going to bore anyone with a huge review when all you need to know is you have to read this. Whatever you’re doing, stop it and get this read now!

This is the best book I’ve read this year (so far) and will be making my reads of 2019 list.
