Unfortunately this book didn't really hook me in. I enjoyed all the twists and turns but it seemed to jump from one thing to another and didn't really keep my interest. It does keep you guessing all the way through though, and I would probably read another book by this author as other books by her appear to have been extremely well received. Oh gosh I am a huge fan of this author and her DI Adam Fawley series...
All The Rage is book four in this series and it's a cracker..
DI Adam Fawley has his own personal issues in this installment which weigh heavily on him while trying to solve this latest crime. He even begins to question his own judgement.
There has been a serious attack on a young fifteen year old girl Faith Appleby which the team feel might be a hate crime.
Lucky for Faith, she manages to escape the clutches of her attacker and live to tell the tale.
But when a second girl is attacked and murdered, questions are asked as to whether there is a copy-cat killer on the loose as certain items used in the murder relate to a previous case and conviction.
I absolutely raced through the pages of this one because I adored being back in the midst of all the familiar characters in the series and the author managed to keep the suspense up throughout the book for me.
I was chopping and changing throughout as to who I thought was the culprit...
I also felt this book could be read as a standalone novel even though it is book four in the series.

As per Cara Hunter pulls it out the bag, I love her writing style so much and as with every one of her books it's full if amazing twists and turns. I prize myself on being able to figure out the twists in a book but I genuinly didn't have a clue!

It does take a while to ge the hang of her writing style, as there are no chapters. But it all flows so well. This can be read as a stand alone, however, I would say it makes for easier reading if you read the series in order.

I cannot begin to explain how good of an author Cara Hunter is! I've been a fan from her very first book and is definitely one of my favourite authors.

This is the fourth book in the 'DI Adam Fawley' series. I have now read all of the instalments except book two - In The Dark - which I hope to get around to soon. I think there is some benefit in reading at least one of the other books first for character development and to maximise enjoyment of the story however, each of the stories do have their uniqueness.

All The Rage was a compulsive read with plenty of twists and turns, many of which were a surprise and also rather shocking. The story followed the format of a single timeline as it developed through changing scenes, told mainly from the points of view of Adam Fawley and his team, who each had their troubles, personal problems, family difficulties and various other loads to bear. Everything was all so well executed by Cara Hunter and it kept me reading enthusiastically.

I found Cara Hunter's writing style very natural, realistic and absorbing, as ever. Similar to previous instalments, the author has effectively peppered her narrative with the inclusion of newspaper articles, psychiatric reports, court transcripts, suspect interviews, social media, and even more. Some of the crimes committed, combined with certain highlighted topics, made this book a disconcerting read but I appreciated the author’s sensitive handling of the plot-lines. The plot itself was cleverly done and it was impossible to predict what was coming next, making All The Rage all the more compelling.

Cara Hunter's characterisation was tremendous and certainly not neglected in favour of the plot or anything else. I loved this team of characters and cannot wait to read more in the series.

Cara Hunter's DI Fawley novels are amongst my favourite and all the rage is no exception.

When a teenage girl is found wandering the streets of Oxford, dazed and distressed, the Police are keen to find the perpetrator and press charges.

The crime itself has worrying similarities to a previous case of Fawley's but he knows that the perpetrator of those particularly crimes is safely locked away - although approaching parole.

The current scenario screams all elements of hate crime, but despite his instincts pointing him in this direction, Fawley isn't convinced.

Told from multiple view points (the victim, the suspect, the police man), all the rage could be confusing. But it works, bringing a different perspective to each element of the story, and leaving which one of them isn't telling the whole truth.

All the rage is a fast paced, riveting read, and as always I cannot wait for Cara Hunter's next.

Who knows what goes through a teenagers mind? This is an age old problem and central to the story line of this detective novel. Cara Hunter's fourth DI Adam Fawley story is very easy to read and up to date with all latest problems of today's teens - sex, sex id, peer pressure and mobile phones. Two crimes are committed, potentially linked by geography but more worryingly linked to an old case from Fawley's early career. Overall it is a great book that moves along fairly fast and always presenting new elements that add complications to the plot but never confusing. Only down side is there is nothing new in style or content, however it is a great format that works well used by many of the good crime novelists.

Another gripping thriller from Cara Hunter. She never fails to drag you with her plot until you see the ending.
This was no different. I couldn't put it down and enjoyed every second of it.

Should have read this ages ago! A five-star read, utterly fabulous. Twisty turns and unreliable characters... another excellent book in the Adam Fawley series

I have read, reviewed and loved all four books in the DI Adam Fawley series. I thought that the first three books were good but 'All The Rage' is the best of the series so far. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it but more about that in a bit.
What can I say about Detective Inspector Adam Fawley? Well I have consistently liked him throughout the series and 'All The Rage' has done nothing to change my view of him. He is a police officer with many years of experience behind him. He works well as part of a team but he works equally well on his own. The team works well with each other but as with all tight knit teams or families, there are sometimes petty squabbles which occasionally requires Fawley to intervene. Fawley seems to have a relatively settled home life with his significant other called Alex, who he has been with for quite a while now. They have a pretty strong relationship although they are feeling the stress at the moment. Alex is pregnant and due to past events, both Alex and Adam are finding it extremely difficult to relax or to 'enjoy' the pregnancy as it were. Adam is under pressure at work and at home. Will Adam solve the case? Will Adam and his partner manage to relax about their pregnancy? Well for the answers to those questions and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
It took me next to no time to get into this book. It's no word of a lie when I say that as soon as I got to the end of the first page, I was addicted to the story. I knew that arranging to do anything else other than read this book was pointless because I knew that I wasn't going to be moving very far at all. The book wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story or of the investigation. The pages turned increasingly quickly as my need to know what happened steadily grew and grew. Then all too quickly I reached the end o the book, which I was disappointed about. I was enjoying the author's writing style, the characters and the storylines so much that I just wish that the book had continued for a lot longer than it did.
The series featuring Detective Inspector Adam Fawley is written in a different sort of way to the vast majority of crime novels. The book isn't written in the traditional format, using chapters, and it is written incorporating police interview transcripts, text message exchanges, letters and official government documentation among other things as well as Fawley explaining events from his own personal viewpoint and telling the story in the traditional sense. At the beginning of the series I was a bit sceptical as to whether or not this bold way of telling the story would work because I thought that the story wouldn't flow as I had hoped. However, I needn't have worried because this way of telling the tale worked a treat and the story flowed seamlessly as a result.
The author grabbed my attention from the start with an event so shocking that it has guaranteed that the book will stay fresh in my mind for a long time to come. The story hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. Reading this book felt like watching the equivalent of a Hollywood blockbuster action movie. I was gripped by the story and on the edge of my seat throughout. At times I almost has to read through my fingers as I feared what was going to happen next. The story left me breathless and stunned in equal measure.
In short, 'All The Rage' was another amazing read from Cara Hunter and I will definitely be recommending this book to other readers. I will definitely be reading more from Cara's work in the future. Here's hoping that we don't have too long to wait for her next book. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Cara Hunter is at the top of her game at the moment and does not disappoint with All The Rage. If you like Angela Marsons and MJ Arlidge then the DI Adam Fawley series is your next addiction! Faith Appleford is on her way to college when she is grabbed off the street and bundled into a van. She suffers a horrific experience but escapes with her life when the attacker is spooked and flees. What starts out as a relatively straightforward case soon takes the police down a different path but no spoilers here. This is an excellent read and I highly recommend it. She has managed to escape and now, terrified, tries to get home. The driver takes her home and contacts the police, even though Faith says she doesn't want to press charges. Her mother is backing her on this decision. Why doesn't she want to speak with the police? They are baffled, and DI Adam Fawley and his team are truly disturbed. They know they have to act carefully but what if the next victim is not as lucky? Because it's not this kind of crime that doesn't repeat itself, and they are right. The investigation takes Adam twenty years prior, when he helped to ensure the conviction of Gaving Parry, known as The Roadside Rapist, who has been claiming his innocence ever since he's been sentenced. Adam is certain that Parry is guilty but uncertainties arise - either Parry is a victim or they have a copycat. What is happening?

Even though I've previously only read the book three in the series, it was a great feeling to be back with Adam and his team in Oxford, with old and new mates. It's a great group, hardworking, highly motivated and not giving up easily, and I really liked their team - spirit.

The book is mainly told through DI Fawley and his team points of view, but what is more, each of them has also their own troubles and problems, loads to bear but it only made the narration feel more down to earth, more human and real. Also, the characters were like living and breathing people that you've met in real life - or at least they felt like this. They're not all likeable but them being so full of flaws makes them feel like normal people. The author has got into their heads, into their minds and brilliantly captured all the personalities.
This narration is jazzed up with the inclusion of social media, newspaper articles, court and interview transcripts, and the variety is great and makes the reading even more interesting and realistic.

And again the author has managed to pull wool over my eyes, dragging me this way and then another, making me think that I've got everything solved and then hitting me around the head with a brick and pointing in another direction. It is really a twisty read full of turns and when you think you have something sorted out, you are taken for a different route on another thrilling roller - coaster ride.

It was a great, fast - paced read. Yes, I had some problems at the beginning to get into it, the many characters and the many things that happened, the quickly changing scenes made me feel rather confused, and the sections seemed, I don't know, disjointed, and it really didn't make the reading easier. But I still enjoyed the many twists and turns that I - of course, of course, me and my detective skills - haven't seen coming. It was an intense and thrilling crime, twisted and full of red herrings, with shocking revelations that kept me on my tenterhooks. Hugely recommended!

Really enjoyed this one - the type of thriller you race through because you can't wait to see how everything unravels.

While I do think it was predictable to a point, I was still sucked in with all the twists and turns. This is the first I've read of this author, and of this series but am definitely interested in reading and exploring these stories more.

If I could just sit down and read this in one sitting I would. I had to tear myself away from it but then I eagerly look forwards to when I can immerse myself again. Always keeps me guessing and with light touches of humour and dark twists to keep you guessing who did what and why. I always eagerly anticipate a new Cara Hunter story, wondering where it will take me next.

I LOVE the DI Adam Fawley series!!! I ADORE it!!! I love the characters, the stories are suspenseful with unexpected twists, and I am captivated by the author clear writing. All The Rage is the fourth book in the series and it sees DI Fawley and his team trying to solve a disturbing and intricate case.

I will probably say the same thing after reading Cara Hunter’s next novel, but I think that All The Rage is her best so far. Fast-paced, complex, and entertaining, the story captured me from the very first page. I love that the story is told from multiple points of views, from the detective to the victims, from the witnesses to possible suspects, in a way that it’s clear and informative. The narrative is often interrupted and enriched by police interviews, reports, newspaper articles, and, my favourite, social media comments (where everyone gives their unrequested opinion).

I love reading about Adam and his team and see how well they work together and hard to get to the truth. In this book, we learn more about DI Adam Fawley’s past, we read about DS Erica Somer’s new romance, and we get to know better the new member of the team, DC Anthony Asante. And let’s not forget DS Gislingham, Verity Everett, Baxter, and the irritating but still enjoyable Quinn.

I have started reading Cara Hunter’s novels only recently, just a few months ago, but I quickly caught up and I am a huge fan. All The Rage is an intense and outstanding procedural novel perfect for all crime fans out there. It left me wanting for more and I am already counting down the days to the publication of book number five!

All The Rage by Cara Hunter was the first book I started in 2020, and what a great way to read myself into a new decade. Because this police procedural series set in Oxford with it’s quirky format and engaging characters is one you need to get on board with if you are not already familiar with it.

MY THOUGHTS

What a fab read. The cases in this book had me scratching my head hard, as I just couldn’t connect how everything fitted together. The more of this author’s books that I read, the more I realise how carefully crafted her plots are. With so many little twists, that I often have to stop reading and think hard about what I just read.

But apart from pauses to think about the plot, this book is one that when you start you won’t want to put down. Filled with short snappy chapters that often end abruptly leaving you hanging, intruiging police interviews, and old court transcripts, maps and even a birth cert, this was a book that I devoured as quickly as I could.

I loved also that we got to see a little more of the personal lives of the detectives, as I’m totally invested in that side of this series too. And what a cliffhanger we ended on, I’ll be needing the next book ASAP, as my stomach is already knotted with tension.

WHO SHOULD READ ALL THE RAGE:

Highly, HIGHLY recommended to those who love police procedurals, thrilling plots that grip you, and a modern-day Oxford setting. Fans of authors such as Shalini Boland, Lucy Dawson and Samantha Hayes should also enjoy.

I enjoyed this tale, set in Oxford. I didn't read the series in order (I read book 4 before I realised there were earlier stories) but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book despite knowing small things that happened with the main set of characters. It feels like Cara Hunter has taken time over the two books I've read in the series. The characters are drawn well, the plots are complicated but well explained and not far-fetched. I'm looking forward to reading books 2 and 3 of the series now.

Chilling, unputdownable & unpredictable.

It's no secret I'm a huge Cara Hunter fan and was eagerly awaiting All the Rage's release... Gripping, scarily horrifyingly plausible the latest installment in the DI Fawley series didn't disappoint.

This is a fascinating read Hunter constantly builds the tension as we work the clues at the same time as DI Fawley's team. The twists and turns of the investigation genuinely shocked me and kept me guessing all the way until the end.

I loved getting more of Fawley's backstory, is his past coming back to haunt him? Is this all this happening because he caught the wrong guy?

If you are looking for a gritty, realistic and twisty crime thriller... then here it is, this incredible read is not to be missed!

As always this can be read as a standalone but if you haven't read the others, treat yourself you'll be missing out if you don't, they are all unique in their own right (this isn't a when you have read one you have read them all kind of series).

Ps. That cliffhanger at the end will have you wishing away the time until book number five is released, I know I am.
