This was my Christmas book of 2019 – and it is the one I read in the middle of Summer! It absolutely filled my heart and warmed my soul.

Santa Dan is the type of Father Christmas you hope to visit with your children, a genuinely kind, good man with a passion and love for what he does. He lives his life with the compassion ad kindness he shopws to so many at Christmas the while year through.

I absolutely loved this and definitely recommend it to all as a perfect Christmas read that will make you smile.

The Santa Claus Chronicles is a heartwarming glimpse into the life of Dan Short and his experiences serving as Santa Claus. He tells stories of different interesting people he has met over the years and also sheds light on his personal journey to becoming Santa Claus. His narrative makes it clear that Santa is an iconic figure who means so many things to so many people and in so many different ways. This book would make a special holiday gift and reminds us all of the true meaning of the season.

I received this book courtesy of Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Such a heart-warming book! Dan Short shares some of his most poignant stories about his career of playing Santa. These chapters are short, but each is packed with inspiration and hope. There are stories here about his Santa encounters with folks from all age groups and all walks of life. I love how this Santa points all of his fans to Jesus. and how he shares the story of Jesus’ birth twice a day during his Santa season to those who come to his location. The man behind the Santa suit (and his wife) have a heart for people and ministry. This book sets the tone for the true spirit of Christmas.

I enjoyed this memoir about Dan Short's experience portraying Santa Claus. The vignettes are self-contained and easy to read. I'm glad he included his Santa origin story. This is a nice collection of stories/experiences that will fit into those spots when you have a few minutes to relax and read.
I requested and voluntarily read an advanced review copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley. I offer my honest opinion in response.

An adorable book that really draws you into the spirit of Christmas

We hear the story of Santa Dan - one of Santa's many helpers ... but Santa Dan is more than a man wearing a red suit, he embodies Santa - not only in looks (he is often stared at in restaurants or when he's on holiday, or approached by children who shyly ask if he's Santa) but in the way he lives his life. We discover the Dan has always worked in the charity sector, and becoming Santa wasn't a sideline to have during the festive season but a dream that he fulfilled.

The stories are told in a conversational, informal way - it's not hard to imagine that you are sitting opposite Dan having a chat as you drink coffee & ask him about his time as Santa ... He tells us in a witty, yet gentle way all about the stressed father who was desperate for his child to see Santa & leave with great memories of time with his Dad before he left to spend Christmas with his mother, to the old lady who had never met Santa or the small child who's wish for Christmas was for his baby brother to come home from the hospital ...
The short chapters make it ideal to drop in & out of, perfect to read a chapter a day through Advent or similar, yet it flows well and keeps you wanting to read more so you may not want to put it down!

The book is written by a Christian, determined to share the story of the first Christmas with those he comes into contact with, but he doesn't do this in a preachy way at all, he shows his faith through his actions & through simple activitioessuch as the "Storytime with Santa" that he offers when parents can bring the children to hear Santa tell them the bible story in a simple way & spend some time with Santa too

Highly recommended for anyone who sees that the story of Santa can genuinely mix with the story of the first Christmas ...

I’m giving The Santa Claus Chronicles 3.5 - 4 stars (on the Goodreads scale, that’s liked - really liked). It’s the end of August, but between this book and my current visit to Hobby Lobby, I’m already brimming with Christmas cheer.

This book reminds me of a documentary I watched, Becoming Santa, within the last few years about Santa School and just how much being a (good) Santa entails (spoiler: it’s a lot more than you’d think!).

What I liked about The Santa Claus Chronicles:

-The chapters / stories are short. They are long enough and detailed enough that the reader “gets” the story, but they’re not overly detailed or too long, resulting in the loss of interest.

-The writing style is not too complex. The book reads in such a way that it’s like having a conversation with Mr. Short, like he’s telling me his stories - which he is!

-In a world filled with chaos, it’s a reminder that genuine kindness is still out there.

I wish this book much success when it’s published! Honestly, I foresee many people making reading this book a Christmas tradition / staple.
