Brothers Jimmy and Jack Sullivan live a nomadic life doing what they love: touring with their band, The Unknown Souls. But Jack’s recent engagement to Kara has everyone looking forward to a Christmas destination wedding in Ireland.

Unlike his brother, Jimmy never expected to fall in love. But he feels a sense of peace and happiness whenever he’s around Kara’s best friend, Charlotte—which has him wondering what he’s missing. Over Thanksgiving, Jimmy and Charlotte write a song while sitting together on the back porch. When the band sings it at a Christmas concert the next night, Jimmy insists it’s the perfect love song—but a manager for another famous duo is adamant that it’s the perfect Christmas song. Before Jimmy knows what’s happening, he’s on tour with the hottest country band around and suddenly everyone knows his name.

But fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and Jimmy finds himself far away from those he loves—especially Charlotte. Only a Christmas miracle—or two—will be able to lead Jimmy back to Ireland, to his brother, and to love.

Cute, warm read perfect for Christmas season.

I enjoyed reading The Perfect Love Song by Patti Callahan Henry. The main characters romance was very sweet. The secondary characters in the story were enjoyable to get to know. Happy Reading!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

A charming story about how love is always the most important thing and you can't have love without forgiveness. I really enjoyed the story line and the characters. It was a quick easy listen and lovely little Christmas story. Recommended!

Did not finish at 14% due to taking God's name in vain and other words I do not want to see in my books.

Two brothers are the heart of a band, but after one writes a story to express his love for his girlfriend he is discovered and starts making decisions that are out of his character and are putting his priorities out of alignment.

All around this book was just an ok read for me. The characters were fine and the plot was ok, but nothing stood out and made me want to send this book to all the readers in my circle. With a cast of characters, I had to take some notes to keep everyone straight as to who was in love with whom and some main quantifiers about each. With a short and sweet holiday book, this felt distracting and took away from my reading experience.

On a book blog, this is weird to say, but I think I would rather see this storyline in movie form rather than book. I think it could make a sweet Hallmark/Lifetime holiday movie and I probably would really enjoy it!

I could argue that this book isn't as much a Christmas book as the others that I read during this season. Yes, there was a wedding on Christmas day and a song, but for me this book didn't feel like Christmas. This is completely a personal opinion, but for me this book didn't give me that holiday vibe like the others I have read.

This was a short but sweet Christmas Romance, it was also the fist book I have read by Patti Callahan Henry. It was re-released in 2019 having originally been published in 2010. I enjoyed her writing and will look for more books she has written. This story uses the magic of Christmas to bring together a couple who are growing apart and need to be together on Christmas Eve. Jack and his girlfriend, Charlotte wrote a beautiful love song together. A music producer has decided that this is a perfect Christmas Love Song and hires Jack to go on tour. The problem is that his brother Jimmy is getting married on Christmas Day in Ireland. Jack quickly gets caught up in touring, partying and performing and his communication with Charlotte is diminishing. When something happens that might prevent him from getting to Ireland, it takes a little Christmas magic to get him to the church on time.

This story is cute, but a bit formulaic. I had a pretty good idea where this story was going to go and I was right. I enjoyed it and could see this one becoming a Christmas movie as it was definitely a feel good romance. The characters were sweet, sometimes a bit too sweet, but it fit for the story. If you are looking for a short, quick Christmas romance, then pick up The Perfect Love Song.

Coming into this at the second book made this story feel a bit abrupt. You are thrown into it all. I usually try to avoid reading a series from the middle but I was given this one as an ARC from Netgalley in return for my honest opinions.

I liked both of the main characters. Charlotte and Jimmy they are both good for each other and support each other well. I would have liked to see them falling in love a little more, I feel like there is a whole lot more to their love story that I missed out on. I guess this may be in the other book in the series.

This is a cute Christmas romance with some really lovely moments. There is a story of forgiveness and such a great show of support.

A quick read that felt bare on details and depth. Either this needed to a full novel or the novella needed less subplots to feel complete. However it’s good enough if you are short on time or looking for a quick distraction

The Perfect Love Song (Christmas Story) is a followup novella to When The Light Breaks. I am delighted to say that it's a beautifully written novella. Patti Callahan Henry adds the piece of grace that brings meaning to the season, I'm not sure how she does it, but her writing though gentle, wakes me up and makes me appreciate life. You dont have to have read When Light Breaks, but it does flesh out the character portraits a bit. The bonus material was interesting and entertaining as well.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

A sweet holiday love story. About two couples that love with their whole being. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the beginning - the back story - was rushed. I kept looking to see if this was a sequel to another book. Perhaps it should have been or still should be. A story about Maeve perhaps? I know I would give it a try.

Jimmy Sullivan loves being in a band with his brother and friends. Since falling in love with a pair of best friends, Jimmy and his brother have begun to imagine settling down in their hometown with the women they love. While home for Thanksgiving, Jimmy and his girlfriend, Charlotte, write a love song together that describes their feelings about their relationship. When Jimmy plays it at a festival his band is performing at, Jimmy is asked to go on the road with a popular country band to play his new song, which everyone is calling the perfect Christmas song. This is a dream come true for Jimmy, but it means leaving behind his band and time apart from Charlotte. What is he willing to give up for his dream?

I really wish we could have seen the full lyrics to this song. I don't understand how people could confuse a love song between a romantic couple with a Christmas song, and the few lines that were mentioned in the book did not seem Christmas-y to me. This was a short book, and maybe fleshing out the story more would have helped. It felt like someone took the plot to a Hallmark movie and turned it into a book. The book wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable, either.

The Perfect Love Song was just an okay read. I do not believe it was a book for me. I would give it two and a half stars.

The Perfect Love Song by Patti Callahan Henry is a cute Christmas story, not my favorite, but worth the read. I usually read holiday stories quickly, but this one dragged on a bit. I found the second half to be a faster, more enjoyable read. I loved how much the brothers cared for each other and the long-term friendships portrayed. Even though it took me a week and a half to read this book, it was not because it was a long read, I simply was not able to give much time to reading.

The Perfect Love Song by Patti Callahan Henry is the first novel I've read by her. I found it slow-moving at the beginning, and it didn't catch my interest until about 1/3 of the way through the book. The story was supposed to be about Jimmy and Charlotte, yet the other two main characters Kara and Jack, seem to be equally at the forefront; thus, it was hard to tell just who the book was really about.

I storyline of Jimmy's music career, fame, and being on the road putting distance between him and Charlotte seemed to drag on and on which didn't give much hope for a future between the two. As theirs was such a newfound love, to begin with, it just seemed too unrealistic.

I was disappointed in this book and wouldn't recommend it. My thanks to NetGalley and to the publisher for gifting me an ARC for this my honest review.

This is the story of a love song once written changes the lives of the people involved. The trouble starts when the song writer leaves his band to go on the road. The song makes him famous. But with fame comes some difficult decisions about life, love and family. Is the end worth the means? The story finishes on Christmas Eve in a church in Ireland when all the characters come together for a reunion of the hearts.

Kara Larson is preparing to marry her childhood sweetheart, Jack Sullivan, in a ceremony in Galway, Ireland. Jack's brother, Jimmy, is in love with Charlotte Carrington, Kara's best friend and they are happy to be together again at Thanksgiving. Jimmy is a musician and Charlotte is a poet and together they write a beautiful song that they call the perfect love song. It is the holidays and once the song is heard by the public at a concert it is called "the perfect Christmas song" and Jimmy's life takes a very public turn. Charlotte feels betrayed and lonely, but there is Kara's wedding, and she will do all she can to make it the best day possible. Jimmy has a personal revelation or epiphany and through many twists is able to get to the wedding.

This is the first story that I have read by this author and I feel in love with her style and characters. I look forward to reading more in the future.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.

I received an ARC of this novel from Thomas Nelson books through Netgalley in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own. The Perfect Love Song should be called the perfect holiday story! Jimmy and Jack Sullivan and their band The Unknown Souls are back in the Sullivan brother's hometown so that Jack and his fiance Kara can plan their upcoming wedding in Ireland. This allows Jimmy to spend time with Charlotte, in fact they create a song together that propels Jimmy into the solo limelight when it becomes a hit. The Sullivan brothers have never been apart and some bad memories from the past start to haunt Jimmy when he has so much time on his own. When a huge career opportunity stands in the way of Jimmy attending Jack and Kara's wedding, he is faced with a difficult decision-family or fame?
I have read many Patti Callahan Henry stories and most of them are very heartwarming stories. This one was no exception. There weren't many plot twists and at times it felt like a Hallmark movie, but if you are in the mood for a sweet story, this one is for you.
