I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The intrigue of a twin swap sounded fun, and in the beginning seems to start off well.
Hudson wasn't a fantastic lead however, and the relationship between the twins seemed a bit cold considering the situation they were in.
I guess I did like that they got most of the issues sorted out and got their HEA.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The Bad Twin' by Avery Scott.
Reading the book I could feel Abigail's panic about saving her house and have the money to pay the bills for both she and her twin. The author is very well adept and describing emotion so that the reader is right there in the moment with the characters.
The book is nicely paced and I couldn't protect where the story was going until the last few pages. That was a real treat.
I would recommend this book whole-heartedly to any fan of romance. I was provided a complimentary copy of the book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I generally enjoy stories with twins that switch places or trade identities and I really wanted to like this one, but it had its ups and downs for me.

I really enjoyed the scenes that took place in Paris and the location details. The descriptions of artwork and the museums added to the ambiance.

However, for me the relationships fell flat. The twin switch was only partially believable and the “bad twin” was utterly unlikable. The twin relationship wasn’t really explored at all. The romance between Abby and Hudson was so-so. Overall I felt the romance and characters were flat.

Read this if you love romance in Paris and want to focus on the locations. For me, this book wasn’t very satisfying.

What Abigail (Abby) is confronted by her twin sister’s boss in a case of mistaken identity she has one of two choices: fess up or save her sister’s job by playing along. <---See good intentions.

Hudson is the internally tortured billionaire suffering self-induced penance for his family loss. Suffering between heartbreak and an uninterested passion for his work, he finds himself entranced with his personal assistant.

Add in one stunningly dreamy business strip to Paris, touristy attractions, confections, and gardens and you get a heroine falling fast for a guy who doesn’t even know her real name.

Abby’s quirky personality and “oops” moments in her deception were adorable, but I love that she grew stronger in her confidence as the storyline progressed and eventually added in tidbits of passion and snark.

As I would expect in a romance, the story carries just enough steamy moments without taking the book too far down the erotica path but rather focused on the character’s journeys and, of course, an HEA.

Avery Scott truly captured the otherworldly beauty of Paris in her words and the stunning pull of the romanticism of the city. The emotional journey from Hudson was stunning to witness and I just loved the ending.

I highly recommend this one as a feel-good romance with a little slow burn and angst

If this book could talk it would scream cliche. Not a bad thing in this case. The story while predictable is a great little escapism tool. Glass of wine in the bath. Great read to just relax with and be whisked away for a few hours.

This is the story of two twins who trade places. First you have Abby. The responsible and emotional twin who is trying to keep a roof over their heads. Then you have Gabby. She is the complete opposite of Abby. She is reckless and only lives to please herself. This if course leads to a situation that forces Abby to take her place. Overall., this was a good story. However, I did find the time line a little confusing. At one point the novel said they were in Paris for a week and a few chapters later it was only over the weekend. Other than this, I enjoy reading this.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Starlight Publishing LLC for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Th I is my first time reading this author. I wanted.to like this book, but couldn't quite do it! I did like Abby, but there were so many odd things! They have a house full of art and they never thought to get it appraised?? Why lie? I was frustrated with her twin for being so superficial and uncaring. I rate this book a 3.

Abby is the good twin and Gabby is the bad. She goes out and parties and Abby is the responsible one. Gabby becomes an assistant to Hudson, a rich man, who works in his family’s business. When ‘ flighty’ Gabby takes off, Abby is the one left holding the bag. They are about to lose their house, Abby gets laid off, and she’s jobless. So when Hudson shows up, Abby goes as Gabby. They are going to Paris to talk to a client and hopefully wrap up the contract. But Abby has no idea and just wings it. When Hudson finds out Abby deceived him, can he forgive her?
Fair story but it drove me crazy when Hudson, in his point of view, has him calling Abby his assistant, then his lover, and then Ms. Levesque, it gets a little aggravating instead of just her name. The same with Abby calling Hudson Mr. Quinn and the next sentence Hudson.

This was cute but a little cliche. It was definitely predictable, but well written. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

I received a courtesy copy of this book through Netgalley and I liked the story very much. The plot is very simple but in my opinion very romantic. It’s the story of a billionaire who drags his personal assistant to Paris to close a deal being unaware of the fact that he is working with the wrong twin. Abby, on the other hand, in need of money, accepts to be swept away on this trip with her sister’s boss because she actually doesn’t know where her careless sister is. I could say more but I don’t want to tell the whole story. I just want to say that Abby is the one that captured my attention most. Unlike her selfish twin she is a very caring and disinterested girl. Hudson, the male character got initially on my nerves because he just acted like a douche. Fortunately he will score points at the end just like I hoped when I started reading this book.

You have the responsible twin, in this case, was Abagail “Abby” who life seems to always bring her down. When she thought she was ahead of the game another life issue happens. Gabrielle as the one who loves attention, no responsibilities. While reading The Bad Twin a movie came to my…Deceptions starring Stephanie Powers. Twins deciding to change places for a few weeks. Though in the movie one of the twin dies, just happy that these twins had a different outcome.
I really enjoyed this book. A nice relaxing read. Not much drama, but a little misunderstanding for sure. Plus, it sparked a high reaction from me when the truth comes out, and not the pleasant kind.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

2.5* rounded down. I requested this novel because the title and premise amused me. However, despite the story containing elements reminiscent of the plots of Heyer's "Devil's Cub" and "Pretty Woman" there was no humour here at all.

Things I liked:

1. Abby and her enthusiasm for Paris and her desire to make the best of things.

Things I didn't like:

1. Hunter and his attitude to women (and since he was the hero, this was a big issue for me).

2. Gabrielle (Abby's twin) who was selfish, flaky, malicious etc (whatever the plot required at any given point) and also Hunter's father, whose character also mutated at will.

3. The aforesaid lack of any sense of fun.

4. The epilogue - if he had pulled that trick on me, I would have pushed him out of the plane.

5. The way Abby accepted at face value the fact that their inherited house had a loan shark mortgage on it (is that even a thing?) and never took proper legal advice, and indeed allowed the loan shark to give her advice.

Disappointed.

I was granted an ARC of this book by NetGalley. In exchange for a fair and Honest review. The review below is entirely my own opinion.

Man oh man, where to start.
Honestly, this book was so close to going into my DNF pile, but I soldiered on, due to the fact that I wanted to give it a fair review and sometimes endings can make or break a book.

I thought Abby was okay. However she never goes after anything. She never stands up to her sister or really chases her dreams [ the whole art gallery thing was *pure luck*] nonetheless, she grew stronger in her confidence as the storyline progressed . I liked how she was introduced and her struggle but it wasn't enough.

Its a quick read so I'll give it that and it did make me want to visit Paris - the the scenic descriptions and allure of the city really shone through.

the overall plot is nothing revolutionary, broke but good hearted girl meets slutty workaholic billionaire, attraction, drama, love!
The whole twin aspect was drew me in. a cute twist on the whole trope and I wanted to read some light fluff but this book.... left me so frustrated!
Lets start with the writing. You've heard of the adage show not tell. Well the book does a whole lot of telling and not a lot of showing. For example,
When Hudson shares with abby some huge personal revelation that is the characters whole touch stone for why he's a workaholic and why he feels a s if he doesn't live up to his fathers expectation. we get a long winded sentence where he tells us what happens, he tells us he's sad and then conveniently the view point is changed and then they just move on!!!! Theres no grief, theres no catharsis no feeling of progression. Collins issue is added to build the characters but honestly it just seems like the author gave the background plot to add depth but the delivery of it was so spectacularly bad it felt unnecessary and flat. This problem continues throughout the book, Everything is just told to us and it irked me.

At some points the writing is so magical, especially when it came to talking about Art, it drew me in. I felt the magic that gabby was experiencing when she talks about it and then one sentence later it is clunky and I need to reread something 3 times to understand what the author is trying to convey.
The switching view points didn't help. Sometimes half way through a conversation, the author would switch and I'd have to backtrack just to make sense of who's mind we're in. Did not help with the flow of the book

I freaking hated Gabrielle. She was obnoxious whenever she appeared and she started off a shitty character, had zero development and ended a shitty character. Sometimes characters who are trash deserve their comeuppance

This was just what I needed, a quick read with some spice, drama and a HEA at the end. It actually reminded me of the Harlequin serial/monthly romances I used to read when I was younger.

Beautiful, destitute h with a heart of gold? Check!
Handsome, man-about-town jerk millionaire H who used women for his own pleasure until he meets the h? Check!
Exotic location, in this instance, Paris? Check!
Rich H hires h, who at first flubs everything, but then not only makes things better, but also helps the H to realize that yes, he CAN love and in fact, he loves HER? Check!
Fall in love and in bed, not necessarily in that order? Check!
Unsafe sex? Check!
BIG secret that causes hurt and separation of the lovers, but wouldn't have been an issue if honesty was introduced earlier in the story? Check!
H and h can't forget one another, no matter what, so they have the HEA? Check!

If I hadn't known this was written now, I would have sworn this was an old Harlequin monthly release. Not a neg, sometimes you just want your predictable two hour read to an HEA and this book delivers that.

To be honest, I thought with all of the unprotected "best ever" monkey-jungle love that there was going to be a second "big secret" and it was going to be she was preggers with his baby, but that did not occur.

All in all, a satisfying read and what I expected. 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4, because the secondary h had actual character growth and I am hoping that there is a second book that follows her path to her own HEA.

Recommended for those who like contemporary romance with spice and drama. It is well written for what it is, definitely worth a read.

My thanks to NetGalley and Starlight Publishing, LLC for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

*NOTE: I was granted an ARC of this book by NetGalley. The review below is entirely my own opinion.

I've always liked books about twins which is why this book appealed to me. But I didn't like either twin. I also didn't like the H all that much. (Something about him came across as being a little too douchey for me as it was implied that he also slept with his previous assistant.) Sorry but this wasn't the book for me.

This is Abby and Hudson’s book, Hudson is a angry billionaire who needs to pick up his flaky but sexy assistant at her house because it seems like she’s forgotten their trip to Paris! When he gets there he’s wondering what a wrong with her that she can’t remember anything they talked about?! Little does he know it’s his new assistant twin sister! Abby needs money bad to pay off her grandmothers home so her and her twin don’t loose it! When her twins new boss shows up to pick her sister up she steps in so her sister doesn’t get fired! It doesn’t hurt that her boss is sexy lol this book was really good! I was pleasantly surprised! It was hot!! And the story was really good! I definitely recommend reading this one! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
