Love this book and the message of it. With all the rage these days with the future being female, I appreciated Kassians take on what strong really means and the need for ladies to hear this truth.

Mary Kassian never disappoints. I listened to Mary Kassian's "Don´t be a wimp" conference in 2014, and really enjoyed it. She expanded the message and wrote the book "The right kind of strong". I´ll always prefer the book to the conference or the mini audio series (by the way you can listen to 8 audios about it for free here in Revive Our Hearts. I´m so thankful about it because there she had the right kind of space to talk about this. This is a book I think you will enjoy reading alone or with friends. I felt very convicted about several issues. I like the way Mary exposes deep topics and gives you hope and tools to grow in different areas (discipline, your mind, relationships, etc.) A very good book and a great gift for a strong friend. This book is a gem and you will underline almost everything. Would love to have a book club with it.

I highlighted a lot of passages in this book. So much to mull over!

The world tells us lies about what a strong woman is each and every day . And most if not all of it contradicts what the Bible says. We have to remind ourselves often how a strong Christ-believing woman is.

Because of that, this book is a very fitting and much needed read for Christian women. Mary Kassian takes the Bible to show us how we are to assess ourselves and what habits we need to develop to grow as Christians.

The author is a wonderful speaker and she talks the way she writes. I really enjoy her stories as they make her points all the more vivid. She seems to rehash certain things at times but I have a feeling she does that so we can remember and digest what she is saying more effectively.

I will be taking notes when I go through this book again.

This is my honest opinion based on the review copy I received from the publisher.

Mary Kassian has written another excellent book for women. The Right Kind of Strong is filled with rich, biblical truth to help women grow in godliness. Our culture greatly values strong women, but the strength the world proclaims as good is not the kind of strength that God says is good. Kassian helps us to recognize and develop the right kind of strength.

Kassian takes the reader through 2 Timothy 3:6-7 as she details seven habits of spiritually weak women. Then she shows us how to catch those bad habits that creep in, and how to live as strong, godly women.

I read The Right Kind of Strong slowly, taking time to think, write notes, highlight, and search through my Bible. The teaching in this book is rich, but also very accessible and easy to understand. I highly recommend this book to Christian women!

Excellent book. Encouraging women to be courageous against the current view of strong women and to rely on Christ for our inner and spiritual strength.

I chose to give this book 4/5 stars because I felt the content was extremely convicting in all of the right ways. I will be walking away from this book with a better idea of how I can honor God with the strength He has designed me to have.

It did not receive a 5/5 in my eyes because I did not like that she used so many personal stories of people who have confided in her, and she told them in a way that was pretty judgmental. I can’t imagine if I were one of those women reading the book to find that my son struggles were published for the world to see.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. I would even buy a copy for myself just to have as a reference to look back on.

I LOVE Mary A. Kassian and the way she teaches her audience. In "The Right Kind of Strong," she writes as though she is a friend sitting alongside us. Mary could write from a place of superiority, but she doesn't. She comes alongside of us, as she herself seeks to lay down her own life and surrender all in pursuit of the One True God and His precious Son Jesus Christ.

This world attempts to teach us about its ideals of what makes a strong woman. We need a book such as this one, where we are reminded to seek spiritual strength and success, rather than this world's version of these things. When we seek Christ in what we say and do, it will change the type of strength we seek. May we seek the eternal strength in our Savior Jesus Christ, and allow Him to define strength for us.

"I was strong enough to demand my rights, yet not strong enough to relinquish them."
Mary Kassian goes into great detail about women clothing themselves with the right kind of strength. She tells of The Women's Movement and what it had done to her.
"We are strong, because God makes us strong." The author goes into great detail following 2 Timothy and Paul's words to the Women of Ephesus during the early years of the church and what it means to women.
This was a great book and good for any woman wanting to dig deeper in the Bible to find strength-building habits for her life.
Each chapter goes into detail and a self examination of the seven simple habits to become the right kind of strong.

THE RIGHT KIND OF STRONG - Mary Kassian

Since the feminist movement of the 1960's through 1980's, which focused on equal rights, pay and treatment, our western world has made a large implication on the "rights" of women, and has turned culture upside down.

Women are made by God and exalted by God all through the Bible. The creator has made women quite different than men physically, emotionally and spiritually. Women are not less than or better than men. We are created equally by God to bring Him glory in the way He made us.

All that being said, the liberal mindset has completely run away with the role of men and women and replaced it with somehow being a bad thing to be a women. As ladies we portray a softer gentler side to the home, the workplace and community. While there are excellent men nurturers and excellent women administrators, it is important for each gender to "stay in their lane".

Mary Kassian tells us about her own study and experience and it can all be summed up in a fight she had with her slightly older brother because he called her a "weak silly sissie girl". She was not yet a teen but I think it pictures perfectly how ladies can think.

Women are strong as they search the scriptures, study themselves, seek friends to help her along her journey toward adulting. But, culture wants us to be almost brash and rude, afraid to behave like a lady and afraid to be a lady.

Great book, enjoyed very much and challenged.

In a culture that idolizes strong women, Mary Kassian gives women a deep in depth challenge in her latest book 'The Right Kind of Strong'. To some readers, this book may be counter cultural and even shocking but the truth that is taught in it is vital. This book looks at what Paul's words to the women of Ephesus during the early years of the church and what it means for Christian women today. This book was thought provoking and really challenging in that it makes one do a self assessment of their life and faith walk. It seeks to help us grow into the women that GOD would have us become.

'The Right Kind of Strong' provided great questions for one to self assess and provided practical ways to grow in each of the strengths discussed. This book breaks down each area that determines strength into a chapter and then has sub-sections to dig even deeper. I really loved this layout as it helps the reader get the most out of her self evaluation. While it convicts, it also reminds us of the grace that we receive through Jesus. This element is vital so one does not walk away feeling condemned. Most of all this book pointed to Jesus and how it is only because of Him that we are strong.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to grow in their faith and dig deeper into the woman who GOD has called you to be.

In this book Mary Kassian looks at the book of 2 Timothy and the sins the women in Ephesus were falling into. She outlines how unlike those women we can be truly strong and not fall into these pitfalls. The book is full of scripture and very practical and challenging. I many regards I wanted to love this book and the content was really good, however personally in parts I found it to drag and found it slightly repetitive. It would be a really good title to study with a group of friends, perhaps slowly on a weekly basis where perhaps the repetition would be useful in reminding what was read about in previous sessions but to read quickly I found this book hard going!

Mary Kassian has authored a wonderful book that helps women develop "the right kind" of strength -- not the kind that the world desires, but a strength based in who we are in Christ. She encourages her readers to make small changes, little by little, that will create big differences. I was greatly motivated and encouraged by this book!

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I’ve been a fan of Mary Kassian’s teaching and writing for a long time. Over and over again she has proven to be a solid, biblical voice of truth in an ever-changing culture. Her latest book The Right Kind of Strong is no exception. Based on the Apostle Paul’s warnings to Timothy about “weak women” in 2 Timothy 3:6, Kassian identifies seven simple habits women can develop to become “The Right Kind of Strong.”

I found The Right Kind of Strong to be a careful balance of biblical teaching, warnings, and encouragement. She weaves personal stories and stories of other spiritually strong women with biblical truth, helping women see how they can live out God’s truth on a daily basis. Kassian’s tone shows she clearly cares about her readers and desires that they not be weak women, but rather that women are strong in their faith, growing and discipline others. Those who take seriously the book and its material, studying along through 2 Timothy and other related passages Kassian brings in will surely find themselves growing stronger in their faith. It’s a book I’d recommend to any woman-young, old, or middle-aged, who is serious about growing spiritually strong and is willing to do that hard work necessary for developing new habits. Whether you read The Right Kind of Strong alone or with a small group, you’ll find it’s clear, simple message encouraging and helpful.

Note: I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for this honest review. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
