I really enjoyed this book. It would make a wonderful Hannukah present. This book showcases many Jews who have influenced our times and tells about their contributions and their lives. I highly enjoyed this book and will be purchasing copies as presents this Hannukah.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

This book was well-researched and written. The author really did a great job of showcasing the impact those of Jewish origin had on are lives today. I learned a lot of new things while reading this and found myself telling others about this book because some of the facts are so interesting.

Want to give the history lover in your life an amazing Hannukah present?  Author Norman Lebrecht has collected some of the most amazing stories of Jewish people who have contributed heavily to the world as we know it. Focused on the period of time between 1847-1947, Genius & Anxiety tells the story of how Jewish people have changed the world.

The book includes stories including the well known like Marx, Einstein, Kafka, Freud and Proust, but also folks that you’ve likely never heard of. You may have heard of Rosalind Franklin, the woman who actually discovered the double helix before her work was stolen. There’s also Karl Landsteiner, the man who helped pave the way for blood transfusions and big surgery, and Paul Ehrlich for which we have to thank for chemotherapy.

This book is a wonderful celebration of Jewish history and culture, and how it shaped some of the most amazing minds of the time.

Genius & Anxiety is now available from Scribner Books.
