FEVER is an intriguing continuation of the Dark Kings series, which brings some major overall plot points to a head. I feel like I have been waiting for this book for a long time! Notably, while this is the sixteenth book in the series, if you are interested in picking up one of the later books, this is the one you should choose! Everything is recapped beautifully in this book, allowing a new reader to gather all the knowledge needed to enjoy the larger story arc.

While there is some romance between Kelton and Bernadette, a human who has been manipulated into trying to expose the dragons, the majority of the book, particularly the latter half, is devoted to the major storyline that spans the books in the war with Usaeil. I actually would have liked more Kelton and Bernadette, but I do appreciate finally getting some closure (and then a whole new plot to look forward to in coming books).

As many of the Dragon Kings have been, Kelton was convinced he would not find a mate, and so there is some nice push-and-pull as they question what they have. Their chemistry fell a little flat to me, maybe because so much of the plot is focused elsewhere. I would have liked to spend a little more time just with those two and really feel like I could cheer for them together.

Regardless, the main plot really ramps up with twists that still managed to surprise me, and I loved getting some closure on these. I am also really excited for a new character who appears and carries a whole new plotline and mystery with them. This series still manages to bring some surprises, and I am totally here for it. We do also get to see the reapers a bit, and I love that they intertwine.

Overall, this was a solid installment in the series. Although it was a little light on the romance, the main plot is carried on beautifully. Recommend for fans of the series- and if you are a new fan who doesn't want to start at the beginning, this is definitely a great one to pick up due to the excellent and thorough recapping!

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

WOW! Just WOW! OK, first I can't believe we are book #16! Where has the time gone? And the series is still just as enthralling now as with book #1. Big reveals in this installment. I think we have to be getting close to the conclusion. Am holding my breath to find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed this book! This is my first book to read of this series, and it was really nice that I didn't feel lost. I was easily able to understand the world and the characters and follow the story. Bernadette was very likable and relateable. I look forward to learning more about her in future books. The book was paced nicely, I was able to read it fairly quickly without getting bored or disinterested.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

Hard to believe 16 books in that this series is still gathering momentum but there it is. This was one of those books where ..yes, another king got a HEA but the battle scene in this one is EPIC and you won’t want to miss it. Bernadette is convinced Dragon Kings are real. So when a threat to the Dragon Kings is imminent they send in one of their own to check the things out. Only Keltan doesn’t want to fall for her.

What did I like? Did I say EPIC battle scene? Been waiting awhile for this comeuppance so even though there is more to come... EPIC. Keltan and Bernadette I think will have more in the following books since most of the books kind of include everybody, which is why this should be read in order.

Would I buy this book? I recommend buying the whole damn series. It’s just that good. I might even do a reread when all is said and done since I’m pretty sure I read some out of order. Really great series and it’s definitely a recommend.

Thoughts for the author? I love reading this series, I commend your brilliant mind and storytelling!

Yes! Finally another Dark King story, so we can see whether Rhi and Usaeil will battle in this one or not!
(If you haven't read the previous books in this series, I would highly recommend it, because then you can relate to all the characters and the story unfolding).
This book is about Dark King Kelton and anthropologist, Dr. Bernadette Davies.
Bernadette has abandoned her home and job to be able to full-time search into the existence of Dragons and their home Draegan: And now she is giving lectures about dragons. To find out what she knows and what she is up to Kelton is send to go to her lectures.
Over a year ago, Bernadette met a Fae, who has shown her all kinds of things of dragons . The Fae claims the dragons are dangerous and should be exposed. She also warns Bernadette to stay clear from the lying dragons. But when Kelton approaches her after a lecture, she is surprised of his kindness (and hotness). He is nothing like the Fae has described them to be. When the Fae starts threatening her, if she doesn't step up in her exposure crusade Bernadette flees to Draegan. She is kindly taken in by Kelton, who can't seem to keep
his eyes of her. When Kelton and the other kings realize it is Usaeil who has been pushing Bernadette they understand that war will be starting soon. With Con still missing and Death still pushing Rhi to fight, the battle is
imminent.
Will Rhi and U-bitch finally fight? And will Rhi be strong enough, or has Usaeil become stronger due to her connection with the Druids? And will Kelton realize that having a mate maybe isn't a bad thing?
Find out for yourself in this epic read. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

This book was a really fun romance novel. I wouldn't exactly say that it was my favorite but I really enjoyed it a lot!

Finally ……….. well at least I think it is finally , for now ………… what do I mean by this ? well the last 2 or 3 books have stood still in relation to the main storyline , but this book looks as though that is at and end …. for now !.

Whilst the Dragon King , Keltan and anthropologist Bernadette are the main romantic element of this story - they are not the main focus of the book .
Usaiel has been stirring the pot and convinced Bernadette that Dragons are real - but all she really wants is for the Dragons to outed to the Human public .Realising that she has been used Bernadette does all she can to help the Dragons even if it means her death .?
Meanwhile Con is still missing , feared to have been imprisoned by Usaiel , The Light Fae Queen .
Unable to find Con the Dragon Kings , Rhi and their allies ,including the Dark Fae King have decided that they can wait no longer and take the battle to Usaiel .
Many fall on both sides , BUT suddenly the killing is brought to a standstill when Con appears at Usaiel's side apparently under her thrall ……………. or is he ?
Finally Usaiel is defeated …………. dead ……………...or is she ?
Is Con free of her taint ?
And is one of my favourite Dark Fae really dead ? or is he now a Reaper ?
How will Rhi go on after her part in the victory ?
Many questions are answered BUT many more arise - especially who or what is Bernadette's history , how can they find the Others and where is Xanath ?

As you can see there were many questions finally answered in this brilliant story but the Author has left many more storylines to ensure that there will be more books to come in this great series .

I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who knows dragons are real and she is sharing that fact with the world. Dragon King Kelton needs to find out what she knows and figure out how to mitigate the damage. He figured she was smart but didn’t expect her to be beautiful and open. Just cause he can’t stop thinking about her and wanting to protect her doesn’t make her his mate does it.
Fever, like the rest of the Dragon Kings books, is a non-stop paranormal romantic adventure that will have you rooting for the good guys, booing the bad guy/s and hoping that our hero pulls his head out of his butt long enough to see what is right in front of him. Though this is a part of a series it can be read standalone but you are going to want to read them all.

5 bright burning stars for this amazing book!

As with all of the Dark Kings books this book follows the main story but focuses mainly on Bernadette and Keltan! As the plot thickens with their battle against Usiel Keltan finds himself feeling more and more for the mortal Dr. who had become more than just a project. What started out as an assignment turns to much more when the Dragon finds out that Bernadette knows more than she lets on!

With time against them the Dragons do their best to defeat the enemy only to discover that the battle is truly just beginning!

I love that this series though interconnected can be read as standalone! You can pick up wherever and sti feel apart of the story as if you’ve been there all along! I have grown to love this amazing group and with each book I get antsy waiting to see just what twists grant had in store for us! I can’t wait for book 17!

Oh my word!! This book had so much going on. Many questions were answered and yet Ms Grant left us with with even more questions. This book moved in at a good pace and I was thrown right into the Dragon world. I love the stolen moments where it feels like I am truly apart of this world and I laugh, cry and worry along with the characters. Kelton was a wonderful main character, I loved getting to know him! Dr. Davies was an interesting character that led to many twists and turns, she was also fun to learn more about. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and seeing more of these two, as well as the rest of the Dark King world.

Fever
by Donna Grant

Another sinful sensation that’ll hook you. The tension has been slowly building over the Dragon King series, and this book, Fever is no different. So many questions are answered but more questions still begs to be answered. Which we all know they will be answered as the series continues. It’s just the suspense and anticipation that makes me impatient.

Bernadette has had a burning desire to find the truth and expose that dragons are real and alive still today. She’s given up everything she had to accomplish this. And she is bound and determined to do so. Until....that man in the restaurant.

Swearing to never mate, Kelton has pretty much stayed a loner. Sent on a mission to attend a lecture given by Dr. Davies a Cryptozoologist, the subject just happens to be about dragons being real. Her opening words left him shocked, concerned and angry. After all the Dragons allowed the humans to live and thrive by giving them what they needed. Somehow she was getting information that was pretty close to accurate. He knew he needed to find out who and how, and fast.

Can Kelton, Bernadette and a few other Dragon Kings figure out what happened and why, before it’s too late? Can they save Dreagan, the mates and why not just save the world while they’re at it!

It’s so exciting every time Grant releases a new book. The chance to read her fabulous tales goes beyond tales, it’s like real life taking place. Can’t wait for what’s next!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A new favorite author. I have never read any books in this series and am delighted to be able to pick up and read without being lost . A wonderful story in itself while also in a series. Her description of characters such as Keltan and Bernadette brings the story to life. The settings feel real, You can picture Dreagan in all it’s beauty. I honestly could not put it down, will be investing in the rest of the books by this author.

This was a fun and quick Paranormal Romance read. The author built out quite an intriguing world of Dragon Kings, Fae, Druids… and of course Mates. While this book could be read on its own and still enjoyed I feel you would have a much better experience if you had read the prior books in the Dark Kings series first. While the main storyline in this book centers around Kelton and Bernadette the POV does hop around to other characters who have established storylines in the world so it can be a bit confusing. The author did do a great job filling in a lot of the gaps as the story went for anyone who has not read prior books.

There was a good amount of romance to the story and a little steam without being over the top. This was such as nice light read and it only took me a few hours to finish. I could easily see a binge of the whole series happening to find out what happens with all of the other characters highlighted!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read Fever in exchange for my honest opinion.

Fever is the sixteenth book in the paranormal romance series Dark Kings written by Donna Grant. A sinfully wicked steamy romance that is sure to sweep you off your feet with unexpected surprises, complications at every turn, the tension is so tight you can feel it, and steamy romance that makes Fever too hot to hold without oven mitts! A story that pulls you in with a captivating storyline that weaves in smaller more intense plots. Just when you think you have it all figured out, another underlying plot comes to light with layers of depth and intricacy leaving you gripping the pages wanting more.

While Fever is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. There are characters from previous books woven into each new book in the series. This is sure to make you want to start at the beginning of the Dark Kings series and read all books! I find it thrilling and suspenseful when I start reading each new book in the series.

Grant is a remarkable writer and knows how to pull in the reader into her paranormal love stories full of romance, tension, and mystery.

Where the heck have I been? I mean, I'm a total PNR lover and I'm ashamed to admit that I have absolutely no idea who this author is (don't worry, I've already been shamed by my book friends). To be honest, the only reason I even picked up this book was because of the cover and the fact it was all about Dragons. And then I find out it's like....the 100th book in the series (not really, totally exaggerated)!! I have A LOT of catching up to do. Geez.... Ok, so considering I had no idea that this was a book WAY in to the series, I think I was able to follow along pretty well. The author did a good job of providing a brief enough synopsis that I was still engrossed with the story.

I know I'm going to butcher the back story, but here goes nothing....

The Dragon Kings have lived among humans for ever, but recently their existence has been compromised when a video was leaked showing a battle between the Dragons and Fae. A researcher, Bernadette, has dedicated the last year of her life trying to find more evidence that Dragons really do exist. And now that she's giving a lecture on the matter, the Kings need to step in to make sure she doesn't cause more trouble for them.

It turns out that there's a reason Bernadette has been so obsessed with Dragons. And now that she knows why, she'll do anything to help the Dragons keep their identity a secret. But with Dark and Light Fae fighting each other and a self proclaimed queen out for revenge, it's not as easy as it sounds. In fact, it's down right impossible, right?

Again, I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE FROM THE PREVIOUS BOOKS, and man, this was STILL awesome!!!! If you're a lover of anything paranormal or fantasy, buckle up and enjoy this ride. In fact, I'm off to catch up on all of the others I missed out on.
