We Met in December is narrated by both Jess and Alex. If you’ve read any rom-coms you know what will happen, but that doesn’t take away from the book’s charm. The whole friends-to-lovers theme is enjoyable and the characters are fun and memorable. But while the spark between Jess and Alex was definitely evident, this book didn’t quite wow me as much as I had hoped. It’s definitely sweet and fun, though!

We Met In December was just way too much of a slow burn book for me. I did like the multiple POV’s, but I just got bored. The set up of the story was cute, it just needed better execution.

This was a cute and fun read. I enjoyed it. But nothing amazing that made me emotional or anything like that.

This was the slowest slow burn romance I have ever read. While this book kept my interest enough, I never felt really invested in the story. I did enjoy the characters though..

I really liked the romance in the background of this story, but I had a hard time staying invested in the characters. It started out a bit slow. I do like the friendships between the main characters who are all living in the same household, but I would have liked more romance and for it to be a little bit earlier in the story.

A cute romance that was perfect for those who consume Christmas books like candy around the holidays.

I was extremely excited to read this book when I first heard about it because I absolutely love pretty much any and every book that has anything to do with Christmas time and winter. I honestly thought that I would be hooked from page one, but unfortunately I just wasn't as draw in as I was hoping I'd be. Because of that, I decided to take a break and try reading some other books. It's been almost a year and half since that and I still haven't gotten around to picking this one back up, but I'm hoping to give it another try soon and see if my feelings change. Until then, I'm going to give it three stars because I really didn't get that far into it and I still believe that I might really end up loving this one if I give it another shot.

In We Met in December we follow Jess for her a year after follows her dreams and moves from a small seaside town to London. Moving in with 4 almost strangers, she has instant chemistry with Alex, a nursing student, who like her has given up a stable live to pursue something he’s passionate about. However, when she gets back to the house after a 2 week Christmas holiday she finds the beautiful Emma, a fellow housemate, slipping out of his room. Now, she’s stuck in her dream house, with her dream man, but firmly in the friendzone.

I seem to have a habit at the moment of picking up books I think are contemporary romances, but they turn out to be women’s fiction. I believe I’ve read more women’s fiction by accident then I ever have on purpose. Which is the situation I found myself in when I picked up We Met in December. Which is perhaps why it didn’t really win me over.

The main problem was that I found the characters of Jess and Alex really flat and uninteresting. They also had absolutely no chemistry that I could detect. Pair this with the fact that this book spans a year but nothing really happens in that year, or at least nothing that would keep you gripped to the page and the whole thing was just a bit dull.

However, this book did have the vibe of a British Christmas time rom-com film, I’m thinking Notting Hill and Love, Actually. When I was reading I could literally see it reeling through my mind like a film, which I guess could be a good thing and is alternatively probably why it felt so shallow. It also explains why I didn’t connect with this book, as I adore romance books, but I don’t actually like rom-com films.

I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted to like this book but I have to admit I was bored for pretty much the whole thing.
I feel like I have already read this book, there was nothing new or interesting in it. Jess and Alex were dull and there didn't seem to be anything major between the two of them.
This book just wasn't for me. 2.5 stars.

I did enjoy this sweet, slower paced book set in England. Jess has just moved to London to a house with several others, including a guy a named Alex she is instantly attracted to. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, Jess discovers that Alex has started some sort of relationship with Emma, another housemate. As the next year goes on, Jess and Alex begin a friendship that evolves. Yet, through the next year, other romantic interests for both characters come and go leading to missed chances for Jess and Alex. Will they end up together in the end?

Thank you @netgalley and @harpercollins for the opportunity to read and review this delight of a book! This was a really sweet story about a 29-year-old Londoner who moves into a flat-share situation in Notting Hill, only to fall in love with her super hot roomie. But, of course, being in love with your roommate comes with complications, especially when he is newly single and perhaps involved in another one of the roommates.

This gave me Josie Silver ONE DAY IN DECEMBER vibes - and I loved that book too so that’s a total compliment! It’s not particular steamy but I loved the London scenery. I think I might have a new fave romance subgenre - romances that take place in the UK. We were supposed to go there this past fall so at least I have lots of new neighborhoods to put on my travel bucket list when we finally get to travel abroad again!

Ohhhh myyyy goodness! This books is too cute. It is going to become my must read every winter. Such a good Christmas romance story that takes place in the UK. Nothing is better than reading We Met in December during Christmas season curled up with a blanket with Christmas music.

It was so cute. I can’t believe I waited to read this. A little rom-com. Just what I needed. Alex & Jess are just the cutest.

The synopsis of this novel sounded adorable, but I wasn't really sure about it reading the first chapter or so. However, I kept going and ended up falling absolutely head over heels with this story! If you liked Bridget Jones, you will LOVE Jess and Alex! Their story takes place over the course of a year, December to December, and it culminates with a gorgeous, picture-perfect, happily-ever-after. Everything you could ever want out of a Hallmark Channel holiday movie and more!

I'm afraid that I'm in the habit of picking up books that I need to learn just aren't for me!

We Met in December follows two flatmates that meet around Christmas-time and beyond that, I'm actually struggling to figure out what the plot of the book was. I really don't like books that have large time jumps throughout the entire book (something I'm figuring out after reading a few in a row like this), and also when they meet but then can't be together because there's someone else? If a book is going to be a romance, I really want to see them together, together. I'm sure this is marketed as a love story, rather than romance (or even the sometimes cringy "chick-lit" or "women's fiction") but all of those would be better fits than a romance novel. There was so much fade to black with the time jumps that as soon as I did get invested in a certain scene it would jump to be weeks later.

It honestly felt like the same handful of scenes just repeated over different months. They got together in the end, right? I feel bad saying this, but this book is honestly forgettable for me. There was nothing remarkable that stands out, it all blends together, and it just wasn't for me!

Super adorable rom-com about Jess and Alex, flatmates in London. Jess likes Alex, but Alex likes someone else. What's a girl to do? This story moved along at a nice pace and I couldn't put the book down. It is a quick read and I enjoyed getting to now the characters more.

I absolutely loved this book and everything about it! And, look at that cover art! This is a perfect book for the holiday season, packed with Christmas love and cheer. I truly enjoyed reading this book because it upped my mood and spirits and helped me remember the reason and magic of the holiday season. I would highly recommend adding this book to your holiday reading list; it is like reading a Hallmark movie!

I picked this up because it sounded very similar to 'One Day in December' which is one of my favorites, but this one missed the mark for me. I enjoyed the characters, they were lovely and kind, and I enjoyed the descriptions of London, but I was not impressed with the plot and I felt like it dragged a bit.
