This is a cute little book about an elephant being too large to play hide-and-seek. I really enjoyed reading this and there's so many beautiful illustrations that are bright and colorful.

This was a very cute book. I thought it was fun to read and made my toddler laugh seeing the elephant try to hide in awkward places. The images were bright and bold and paired really well with the story. I liked the illustration style as well.

My Review: I am always on the look out for new great Children's books and this one is definitely up there. It reads as if it is how to or tips for elephants playing hide and seek with kids but is clearly a nod at parents to help spark play again. I loved the illustration style of this book, it is bold and bright, young kids will love that part of the story. It is also silly which will have kids giggling away. I am sure this one will become a favorite!

My Rating: This was such a cute and funny read, but it also had a great message for the adults reading it to the littles. I definitely recommend adding this to your reading list and I give it a rating of Four Paws!

This book was quite entertaining! I can see my students really connecting to this book because they love animals, especially ones that don’t see on a daily basis (like elephants!)
The illustrations in this book are fantastic! I will definitely be recommending this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced digital copy of this book!

The Elephants' Guide to Hide-and-Seek, written by Kjersten Hayes and illustrated by Gladys Jose, is currently scheduled for release on April 1 2020. Elephants are great at many things...playing hide-and-seek is not one of them. But The Elephant Hobby and Sport League is here to help all those frustrated, always "found" elephants out there with The Elephants' Guide to Hide-and-Seek. This handy guide offers sympathy, support and superior hiding solutions to elephants who long to overcome their size disadvantage when playing hide-and-seek.

The Elephants' Guide to Hide-and-Seek is a fun and sweet story. I found the illustrations to be charming and I really enjoyed the style. The text and illustrations worked well together to tell the story, and managed to be encouraging while still including a good amount of humor- like an elephant trying to hide under the covers. I think it offers readers a good laugh, along with ideas (like volunteering to be it) that can make a game that usually offers frustration more fun. I really like that it also points out that playing the game can be fun because of who you are playing with, not just because of how well you play.

5 star CUTENESS! We love elephants!!! When I saw the cover of this I had to download it. My students were tickled with the fun and laughter we experienced while reading this one over an over. Already a class favorite. I will pick up a classroom copy when it hits stores in April. Loved all the pictures. Visually just what I like for young kids.

Many thanks to NG and the publisher for a digital copy to review. Highly recommended!

Fun illustrations which feature the elephant in various hiding places. Will the elephant ever catch on to the game of Hide and Seek? He will if The Elephant Hobby and Sport League has any say.

I loved this book! The book is written in second person, as if we the reader are the elephant, and Kjersten has packed it full of tongue-in-cheek humour. Not many picture books are written in second person and in this case, it works superbly well. Glenys was able to capture the hilarity of the situation straight away. I love the elephant with its big red glasses! The comic scenes Kjersten and Glenys have created are bound to get you smiling and the ending is perfect. There is also a lovely message “hidden” behind all the humour; you can always overcome a disadvantage and your friends will accept you for who you are. So, if you’re an elephant looking to master the art of hide-and-seek, this is the book for you!

In this book we see how elephant tries to join in hide and seek unsuccessfully and successfully with full colour pages in mostly primary colours children will love this picture book.

A short sweet story that'll win kids hearts and infinite their imagination to dream they can play with their favourite animals!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

This silly story is geared toward children ages 4 to 8.  I think that it will appeal most to the younger listeners.

Elephant enjoys having human children as friends.  When they want to play hide and seek, of course Elephant agrees.  Naturally it is not the best game for someone of his size.

To the rescue come tips from the Elephant Hobby and Sport League purporting to help elephants to succeed at Hide and Seek.  This advice leads to adorable and funny illustrations that kids should love.

There is a sweet message of inclusiveness underlying this story.  Mostly, though, it is meant to be fun.

The kids all love elephant and want him to join them in a game of hide-and-seek. Elephant reluctantly accepts their offer because he loves the kids and can't bear to disappoint them even though he knows he can't find a decent hiding spot when your the size of?... an elephant!!!!

He is found again and again by his kid friends as he struggles to find the perfect hiding spot. It seems hopeless to do so. Whatever shall he do? He starts reading a copy of "The Guide to Hide-and-Seek" to discover hiding spaces that will let him succeed in becoming invisible to the kids that are hunting him down and then happily shouting at at the top of their lungs..."FOUND YOU!" He's embarrassed although it's not his fault at all.

The book instructs him to blend in and disguise himself as a piece of furniture, an elephant-sized bed, to seek out large bathtubs and cloister himself under piles of laundry, just to name a few. He's to think camouflage. Maybe he should just volunteer to be "it" and not hide at all, that may solve the problem.

This fun, silly story will have kids giggling and I'm sure they will fall in love with the sweet, big-hearted elephant who adores kids and will do anything he can to spend quality time with them and make them happy. The illustrations are very well done. Each character is adorable, animated and expressive. I highly recommend this book.

This is a really sweet book about using your size to your advantage and not feeling bad about it. The artwork is very pretty, and the elephant is very silly. I think this would be great for storytimes and having kids imagine how other animals would play hide-and-seek. Thank goodness there is an Elephant Hobby and Sport League to share all the important ways to use your unique skills.

A bright, droll and vaguely pointless read for the very young, dressed up as a guide to help elephants be a bit more successful when hiding in games of hide and seek. There's no moral, there's no real concession to a young reader, with phrases like 'patented guidelines' and words like 'camouflage' (oh, and 'pachyderm'), it's just the concept of an elephant playing the game with kids used as much as possible til all the humour has been wrung out of it. Perfectly pleasant to be read once, I doubt it'll get much repeat traffic.

This is a cute book aimed at elephants (because... why not?) that helps them overcome their disadvantages at playing hide-and-seek.

It reminded me a little of David Barrow's Have You Seen Elephant?, which also features a game of hide-and-seek between a pachyderm and a child. In this case, though, the story is framed as more of a non-fiction guidebook for elephants. It's written in the second person point of view. The pictures are cute, and the book highlights all the ways that elephants might be able to make a game of hide-and-seek work for them.

If you're a big fan of elephants, you'll probably want to check out this book.
