What can happen in a year? An Awful Lot! New Year’s resolutions are what people think they want, but when they actually happen, it might be a case of “be careful what you wish for, you might get it”.
This book covers a year in the lives of three close life-long friends. They are so different, but they love and understand each other very well. Liza, the “mostly” sensible one has a job as a food critic. Men are drawn to her curvy, sexy body as well as her friendly personality. Maybe because they fall all over her, she easily is bored with them and her relationships do not last very long. Dulcie is married to a wonderful man who is busy building a business and neglecting her. She has no money worries and does not desire to do much of anything except hang out at the country club wishing her life were different. Pru is a sweetheart. She is kind and easy-going to a fault. That fault arises when she wants to hang on to her unfaithful, gambling, drunk husband. It is not difficult to see how these very different people became friends at an early age and still are extremely close. They are honest to each other and friends like that are gems.
It is very interesting to see what fate has in store for these three women over the course of the year. As in real life, there are ups and downs and we never know what will happen next. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the book ending the way I was hoping.
This book is nothing like my life, that is one of reasons I love to read. I experience how other people live. Since this book originally was released in 1998, the lives of the women reflect that time. I am okay with that. As in every book, the story reflects the time period of its plot.
I was very involved in the story and it was a page turner for me. I enjoyed having a glimpse of the lives of the rich and see that having money certainly does not bring a life with no problems. I am a fan of Jill Mansell and I think this is another great story she wrote.
I want to thank Sourcebooks Landmark for allowing me to read the ARC. This review is my own opinion and not influenced by receiving the ARC.

I was very excited to start reading this book my Jill Mansell as I've enjoyed other books she's written. However, that excitement was short-lived as I found this book tedious. The characters were one-dimensional, and there were too many non-consequential side characters. I almost gave up on it a few times, but I kept thinking it would get better, but unfortunately it didn't until the last couple chapters. I really wanted to like this book, but i just couldn't and I can't recommend it.

Also, I really don't understand the title --- there's very little about tennis in the book..

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

A lovely re-issue of one of Jill Mansell's earlier books. I have to say that I enjoyed the diversity of this one.

This is another great story from Jill!

I haven't read her books for a while but they do not disappoint and this one reminded me of why I love and enjoy her books so much.

This books focussed on the trials and tribulations of three good friends. There was good detail, it was easy to read and I flew through the pages. It is another very well written story and it had a lovely flow to the story and I read it in a day.

It was all very well done - 5 stars from me - very highly recommended!!

I love reading Jill Mansell’s books, with this book, I found the characters annoying and like putting on an act, I was thinking of leaving it. But, decided to preserver and nearly halfway in I became interested and intrigued. I think to begin with I found the women boring, but then when they started wrestling with their beliefs and looking at different ways of doing things I started to find the book interesting. I found the women, people I could relate to and wanting to know what happens next. Certainly an entertaining/interesting read.

Although this novel is being republished, it was new to me. As a fan of Jill Mansell, I had high expectations, and this book exceeded my hopes. The story is about three friends and their New Years resolutions. The characters are relatable, the story line is fun, and the author’s writing style is easy to read. I highly recommend this book!

This was an ok read. I have read other books by this author and I have to say it wasn’t her best
I felt that the storyline was lacking depth. The pace of the story was ok and the characters were ok
All in all an average book

Another fun read by Jill Mansell. Liza, Dulcie, and Pru all decide what they want to do for their New Year’s resolutions. Divorce, Stay married, and Get Married! But what they want is not what is the best for them. Each figures out the best course of action through many mishaps and heartbreaks along the way.

Will review on Amazon on Goodreads once the book is released.

This is a book that was originally published in 1998 or so. Somewhat disappointed that not a new novel.
