This book gave me the chills at one point. I'm not sure I've ever had that happen! Hunter is an amazing author.

The premise of this book wasn't really a new idea - but the direction Hunter took it in made it unique and interesting. The pivotal moment was so well done I never saw it coming and it sucked me in!

There were some fun moments in the story that I won't spoil, but I'll say I loved. I really liked the characters, but there were times their flaws became a little overbearing for me personally. I think I just didn't relate to their specific issues. I also always struggle keeping up with time slip novels.

Adam had some really great romantic gestures in this book and I really enjoyed his character a lot. Molly's flaws annoyed .e - but I loved how Adam handled her.

I'm looking forward to more in this series!

I received an advanced copy of this book through the publisher. This is my honest opinion.

An inspiring love story with a subtle Christian message. Thanks goes the publisher, via Net-Galley, for the opportunity to read and review Lake Season in advance of publication. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

Lake Season may very well be the best book I’ve read in 2019. The writing is emotional and moved me on more than one occasion. The character growth is amazing and greatly enhanced my reading experience. Ms. Hunter paints a unique picture of the small town in the lake area of North Carolina, and the beauty of the historic home, the setting for the novel.

There are twin stories in Lake Season. The one between Molly and Adam and one that happened in 1962. Molly finds a letter stuck in a wall. It starts her on a journey to find the person who wrote the letter and the man who was supposed to receive it and never did. This is such a heartwarming part of this story and possibly what had me feeling this is the best book I’ve read this year.

Molly Bennett is an endearing heroine. She’s recently lost her parents, and she and her siblings, are determined to fulfill their parent’s dream of turning their historic home into an inn. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between the siblings. Molly, of course is the main character, and she is delightful. Not only she’s grieving the loss of her parents, she is also suffering from a bad breakup with a man who almost broke her and damaged her self-esteem. I could feel her confusion when she is attracted to one of the inn’s guests.

Adam Bradford is the hero, and he’s not the typical alpha male. He is a beta character in the true sense of the word. He is a reclusive writer and writes under the pen Nathanial Grey. His novels have put him on the best-seller lists. As he gets to know Molly, and discovers she’s a huge fan, and has somewhat of a crush on him, he knows he should reveal his true identity, but his low self-esteem makes him reluctant to do so. His low opinion of himself comes from his father who only valued athletes, which Adam is not. I felt his pain whenever he thought of his father. No parent should ever deride a child because they aren’t passionate for their favored pursuit! It’s no wonder Adam has his issues.

The spiritual thread in this story is very subtle and easy to overlook, but it’s there none the less. Both characters are believers and try to rely on God when making choices, but as with all humans, they constantly question and can’t always hear Him. I enjoyed this real depiction of Christian life. So many times, the characters are too pure to feel real. Both Molly and Adam breathe life, making mistakes and learning from those mistakes. This is a very powerful message.

The romance between the pair starts as friendship and slowly blossoms into a moving love story that is emotionally-charged with great depth. I truly enjoyed their romance and really wanted them to find their happy ending.

4.5 stars) - A romance wrapped in a romance

This is such a tender, sweet story. Molly is recovering from a really bad relationship followed by the unexpected loss of her parents. Adam is struggling with insecurities from his upbringing.

When Molly finds a letter in the wall of the inn she & her siblings are remodeling, she and their guest, Adam, end up trying to find out if it's still possible to get it to the intended recipient.

What they find is a love story that was interrupted & as they try to help those involved find closure, they find God's healing & a romance for themselves as well.

It's very touching and was told in a way that was believable. There are coincidences (God-incidences), but they're entirely plausible.

The author's writing pace is steady but a little on the relaxed side, & it felt like Molly took longer than necessary to reach her epiphany - read it when you're in the mood for something savory as I was, not when you're feeling impatient - other than that, I thought the story was perfect.

*Clean romance level: sweet kisses
*Religion: generically Christian, some talk & Scripture verses about trusting in God, but not at all in a preachy way

Lake season is a positively sweet read!
I have probably read 20 Denise Hunter's books so I am familiar with her style and always enjoy the way she crafts her characters.
Lake season is something quite unique!
The hero is absolutely adorable and I love his social awkwardness and his inner dialogue. He was so relatable and sweet!
Molly was a bit harder for me to identify with, and at times I found her a bit unreasonable, but I loved how the story developed.
There was a bit of a mystery from the past that brought these two characters together and I really didn't expect the twist in the end!
This is a great light summer/beach read for when you just need a bit of escape.
So sweet and enjoyable.

I enjoyed the book and found all the characters likeable but I did find it harder than Denise's other books to get into. The storyline kept me interested thought it was a bit predictable in areas. I liked the characters of Molly and Adam and enjoyed seeing their romance blossom throughout the pages of the book. I also liked how they were both dealing their own issues, but never did the book seem to dwell on them and make the book full of tragedy. It was a strong start to a new series and I look forward to reading the next books in the series and see how the Bluebell Inn goes.

This is the first book in the Bluebell Inn series and the first Denise Hunter book I have read. Lake Season is a sweet romance with an intriguing plot. The flashbacks to the 1960s were not confusing and added depth to the story. Adam and Molly were a perfect match and it was nice to not have a cliche tough guy as the main character. I imagine many more romances happening at the Bed and Breakfast.

This is a story about loss, family, romance, love and mystery. This is a wonderful story that is thoughtfully written and very enjoyable.

Levi, Molly and Grace lose their parents in a car accident. In order for Grace to stay in the same school, they move back home and decide to finish the transformation of their home to an Inn by the Lake. They grow closer together as they work finish their parents dream.

Molly finds a letter in a wall while construction and the mystery of Lizzie and Ben relationship from many years ago begins. Adam their first guest partners up with Molly to discover what happened to Lizzie and Ben.

Will Molly and Adam find Lizzie or Ben? Will Molly be able to open up her heart to the possibility of love? Will Adam have the courage to truly reveal himself to Molly?

I enjoyed this book, particularly the time-slip aspect back to the early 1960’s, which was very familiar to me! I live in North Carolina so it was easy to imagine the setting, and I enjoyed that aspect especially. The characters were fairly interesting, but I agree with another reviewer that Molly not being comfortable with computer skills was a stretch...she was a college student in this day and age! My favorite part was Adam and Molly’s investigating people from the 1960’s, prompted by a lost letter found during the inn’s renovation. A sweet romance ensues. A pretty satisfying conclusion, though this is book 1 in a series, so the fleshing out of the other characters’ stories is still to come.

Yeah, what can be better than a new series by one of my favorite authors. I love this authors voice. She has a way of evoking all of your emotions. Denise Hunter's newest release Lake Season is the first book to her new series. Bluebell Inn Romance. This book had me at the heartstrings right from the start. In the first few pages we learn that three siblings have tragically lost both of their parents in a car accident. Their parents had started changing their family home into an Inn. Molly and her older brother and younger sister decide to carry on this dream for their mom and dad. We see the struggle they go through and all the hard work and long hours they have to put in to achieve this weighty goal. We also see how working together and supporting each other has brought them so much closer. During the reconstruction on the house, a letter is found buried between the walls. This just adds more drama to an already great story. So Denise gives us two great love stories for the price of one. I would highly recommend Lake Season or any other book by Denise Hunter. I received a copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Publishers through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Family, relationships, secrets, struggles, life, love, loss – Lake Season by Denise Hunter has it all. With her characteristic charm, Hunter has developed this novel – to be released next Tuesday – beautifully. It’s an endearing first title in a new series (hooray!) that hits all the points.

The characters, the plot, the setting (oh my – the setting!) all meld into this sweet tale with elements of mistaken identities, romance, and small-town life. Another definite recommended read – sure to be a success for Ms. Hunter and Thomas Nelson.

I read it in a single sitting and missed too much sleep, but it was worth it. Likeable, flawed characters and a familiar story done slightly differently, all I can say is if you’re a fan of contemporary Christian fiction, you’ll want to pick it up a copy next week and block off a chunk of time to cozy up with this one!

Lake Season
by Denise Hunter
Book 1 in the Bluebell Inn Romance series
Rating: 5/5

Let me start by saying that I am already a huge fan of Denise Hunter. She has a way of weaving together a story of loss, hope, forgiveness and redemption that makes the reader gasp, laugh, and sigh with relief. The third act in this novel is not be missed. She made me cry and lose sleep, so you’ve been warned.

This story is a story within a story. The reader is gradually introduced to the older story while the main focus in on the current story. Molly and her siblings are finally opening the renovated Inn that their late parents had purchased. She is determined to finish what her parents started and then eventually get back to her life and plans. Adam is a writer looking for inspiration for his next book and he may have just found his muse in Molly; however, he values his privacy, which is why he writes under a pseudonym. Little does he know that Molly is his biggest fan. During the renovating, Molly finds an old love letter that never got sent (the Inn used to be a post office) and gets to Adam to help her find and track down the couple.

Molly and Adam both have past regrets and hurts that affect their prospective relationship. If they can find a way to allow God to heal them, they may find unimaginable treasure this Lake Season.

Hunter writes her characters in such an authentic way that just draws the reader in. Her portrayals of Molly and Adam are spot on and her ability to weave another couple’s story within Molly and Adam’s story is beautifully done and not to be missed. But really, go read this book right now. You won’t regret it.

My thanks to the publisher, Netgalley, and CelebrateLit for an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

This charming romance novel is the first in a new series by Hunter. It's a bit of a time-slip novel (1962 and present). The stories are nicely woven together. It's a beautiful story and I look forward to reading the other books in the series. I can't wait to see what the author does with Levi and Grace. The characters and storyline are well developed, and the secondary characters are well integrated. It's heartwarming to see how the siblings work together to carry on their parents' dreams. Adam's fears and Molly's cautiousness are realistic and relatable. They work well together and are a perfect match. It was fun to learn about the decades-old secret along with the characters.

Lake Season, the first in the Bluebell Inn Romance series, is a sweet and complicated story of romance with a little mystery. The Bennett siblings lost their parents to a car accident that left them grieving and with a decision to make. Their family home is a large house with a colorful history of being a stagecoach stop and a post office in the small town of Bluebell in the mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. Their parents were in the process of turning the home into an inn and the siblings decided to carry on their plans. Levi, the oldest, puts his career on hold while Molly, in her final year of getting her hospitality degree with an internship in Italy, also drops out of college to get the inn ready for business, The youngest sibling is Grace, about to enter her junior year of high school, also does her part to help between school activities.
Adam Bradford is in town to do research on the area and needs a place to stay. Molly befriends Adam, not realizing that he is actually her favorite author, writing under a pen name. When an old letter is found in the wall during renovation, Molly and Adam work together to find the author and recipient of the letter. The story has some obstacles as Adam keeps his secret and Molly and her siblings work to make the inn successful and overcome their grief. Filled with faith, mystery and romance, this is another great Denise Hunter winner.
Thanks to Thomas Nelson for a complimentary ARC through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

This book gripped me from the prologue. I can’t imagine that type of loss the Bennett siblings went through and I desperately wanted to know they would be okay.
This series starts with Molly Bennett and she seems like an awesome person and one I’d be friends (if only she were real). But as much as I liked Molly, Adam is what made this a 5-star read for me.

A nerdy her and a bestselling author?! I loved reading his pov as he navigated the waters and tried to come out of his shell when it came to Molly.

I was also surprised by the little historical thread. I may have shed a tear or two while reading it. And that’s all I’m saying about that.

I binged this in one setting and can't wait for book 2.

This is my first book by this author so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I don’t think I will read more of this author. It is not a bad book, but it wasn’t for me. It is a sweet, clean with religious aspects, small town romance. I love small town romance because it usually means interesting and quirky characters, but they weren’t in this book.

I loved the fact that the main character was a author and his struggles with his identity and having writer's block. And I enjoyed his interactions with Molly and their search with the letter.

It didn’t make sense that Molly couldn't handle a pc, because she is student and was planning to work in hospitality. Those skills are necessary and why would Adam randomly speak fluent French and Italian. That was never explained.

Maybe my expectations were too high for this one but I admit I got both annoyed and bored when Molly mistakenly thought that Adam's best friend was her favorite author ... and that Adam let her keep thinking that! So frustrating and the last 100+ pages of the book could have not existed had he just confessed the truth. The setting was charming and I liked the characters, but it didn't feel too original to me.

Lake Season comes out next week on November 12, 2019 and you can purchase HERE.

Oh my word, ya’ll! Before I can get into my absolute LOVE for this book, let me give a brief synopsis for those who haven’t heard about this book.
Molly Bennett and her siblings have undergone an unimaginable tragedy when both of their parents died in a car crash. In an effort to honor their parents dreams, the three siblings decide to open an inn in their family home.
While renovating the home, a former post-office, Molly finds a letter that had gotten lost in the mail drop. Decades later, the letter has left her wanting to know about the fate of the writer, and the should-be recipient.
Adam Bradford, a best-selling author who writes under a pseudonym, has come to Bluebell on his mother’s insistence. She thought it would inspire him in his latest novel, and she couldn’t have been more right. Molly enlists Adam’s help to learn about the letter. Along the way, she finds more than her heart bargains for.
“Lake Season” was an amazing book. Honestly, it was beyond amazing. It took me several days to read, but it wasn’t the books fault. I didn’t feel well, and we were exceptionally busy. My book reading time was almost nonexistent. Yet, if I was able to, I was reading.
So, what did I love about this book? Well, lets start with the characters. In “Lake Season” we meet the three Bennett siblings: Molly, Levi and Grace.
Molly is the character I resonated the most with. She loves a good book, and takes her responsibilities to her family very serious. Her character made me laugh and cry, with every emotion in between.
Levi is the character that I liked to dislike. As the “man” in the family, he took on a more authoritarian role. There were times when his personality and actions were insincere, however, by the end of the book I could see a change in him. This is a good thing since the second book in this trilogy focuses around him.
Grace is the baby sister. It is her persistence that allows the siblings to open the inn. Her character is one that I loved. She has a determination and spunk about her that I find endearing.
Adam. Oh, Adam. Let me just start by saying he is not your typical novel heroin. He is nerdish, and shy. I fell in love with him so many times while reading the book that he is by far one of my favorite male characters in any book I have ever read. Seriously, my husband should be a little jealous. Maybe even more than a little.
The setting of the story is fictional Bluebell, NC. This is the perfect setting. North Carolina is one of my all-time favorite states, and Bluebell is based off of the town of Lake Lure, NC. Do you know what other amazing love story has a connection to Lake Lure? Dirty Dancing. Lake Lure is where Dirty Dancing was filmed, and one of the places on my travel bucket list. Now I have even more reason to want to visit there.
The plot was full of twists and turns. I figured out the ending pretty early on, however, the twists and turns of the subplots kept me entertained and invested.
Denise Hunter is one of my absolute favorite authors. I have read all of her books, and have loved each of them. She was already one of my favorites, but after she helped my husband pull off an amazing birthday surprise this year, it catapulted her to the top. I can’t wait to read the other two books in the Bluebell Inn trilogy.
“Lake Season” receives 5 stars from me.
The expected publication date is November 12, 2019.
Thank you to Netgalley for this eARC. This is my honest review

Lake Season is a captivating story about nice people with emotional real life problems. The setting is in a small lakeside town in North Carolina in the present time with flashbacks to the 1960’s. It’s a refreshingly heart warming read with lovable characters. It was well written and flowed well. I definitely enjoyed reading it. I recommend it.
