Colleen Hoover did it again. Made me feel all the things!! This book had me going through all of the emotions, frustrating, sadness, anger, laughter, and made me squeal. When a tragedy happens it pushes Clara and Morgan further apart. Their relationship is a huge part of the book and reminded me of how I was as a teenager. That was difficult for me to read at times and the reactions I had is probably what my own mother felt. Wading through emotions as a teen can be extremely difficult especially when a traumatic event happens. Hoover does a great job of portraying that in this novel. I miss reading it already. It went too quickly! I give this 4.5 stars.

This was my first romance by Colleen Hoover (I had only read Verity by her prior to this), and I’m so sad it has taken me this long to pick up one of her romance novels! I absolutely loved this story, as gut-wrenching as it was at points. I was fully invested in the relationship between Clara and Miller. It reminded me a little of my own high school relationships (but only in the beginning, mom!) From the other reviews I’ve read, I think people are either going to love Clara and Miller like myself, or want a little more from the adult relationships in the story.

I can’t wait to read Hoover’s backlist. I’m a huge fan!

Another amazing novel by Colleen Hoover! I could not put this book down. “Regretting You” is about grief, love, and family but also provides an interesting plot that captivates the reader. All of a sudden, just a few chapters in, I was invested in every character and my heart broke with theirs. Colleen Hoover always captures what makes us human, the messiness and complicated decisions that turn our worlds upside down. Hoover is the only writer of romance that I will read since her books are just so damn good. Her books always make me smile with the cheesy, lovey things that happen and cry with the heartbreaking events that add realism to the story. Colleen Hoover has done it again and knocked it out of the park. I knew there was a reason she is my all time favorite author. Her books literally rip my heart into shreds.
I was very surprised by how much I loved this book, since it technically is YA, but it reads so much more like an adult contemporary novel than it does a young adult novel. I really loved reading from Morgan's perspective the most, and I think its because I related to her alot. I was a little annoyed with Clara at times, and I docked a half star because 1) I REALLY wanted to know what was in those letters, and 2) the last chapter with the movie film was boring and total nonsense.
This book is super fast paced right from the start, and my heart broke every single time I picked this book up to read. I had every single emotion while reading this book, and I honestly wanted to kill a few characters because I was so mad at them, and I felt so bad for Morgan. I never knew I could have such strong feelings while reading a book, but CoHo is the QUEEN. I shouldn't have doubted her.

This story is way more than just a mother/daughter relationship, way more than just a romance. Its an emotional roller coaster. If you had any doubts about reading it, you need to give it a try. I am totally surprised by how much I loved it.

I was introduced to Colleen Hoover just this year. I have not been disappointed by any of her storylines yet. This one was not any different. I find that Hoover's mind must be all over the place with what she can come up with.

Morgan had Clara when she was only 17 years old. She and Chris raise Clara together as a happily married couple. Cpara is now 17 and does not understand her mother.

Tragedy strikes and Clara and Morgan endure many relationship hardships and neither are quite honest with one another.

This deception causes quite the strain to their relationship. In Regretting You we recieve a beautiful story that allows us to piece together the makeup of their relationship from both sides.

I found myself frustrated that the mother and daughter wouldn't simply have a conversation together about how to move forward. The writing of Hoover created that on purpose. By the end if the story I felt like I had been on an emotional journey and I did mind it one bit. Hoover continues to impress me.

Ugh. I don’t know how Colleen Hoover does it every time. This is only my third book from her and I’m mad it’s taken me this long to find her. She’s just incredible.

The emotions of this book, will keep you page turning, the shock, lies, betrayals will have you jaw dropping, shaking your head, and maybe shed a tear or few. This book you will learn a thing or two on some life lessons about letting go, or holding on.

When I went into Regretting You by Colleen Hoover I wasn't sure what I expected. I can tell you I didn't expect to cry as much as I did. Colleen has created a story that blends the relationship between a mother and a daughter, the relationship of friends and the relationship of a first love and how they endure the ups and downs of tragedy. Regretting You is emotional and you can't help from feeling everything the characters feel. I had trouble putting it down. I highly recommend adding to your must read list.

The incredibly versatile writer Colleen Hoover strikes again, this time with family drama/romance novel Regretting You. For years, Hoover has been my go-to for Young Adult and New Adult romance, but with books like her most recent thriller, Verity, she’s sneaked her way into a special category of mine — Read Whatever the Hell They Write. So when I heard that Regretting You was mother/daughter focused, I was excited to get something familiar, yet different.

I’ve read some great books with parent/child relationships, usually in the child’s perspective, but I think this has to be the first time I’ve read a book where I got both perspectives. It jumped from the sweet and loving mother Morgan to her sixteen-year-old daughter, and fire cracker of a girl, Clara. They have their own journeys — their own love stories, their own coming-of-age stories — and they’re weaved together beautifully. That, right there, is all you need to know before picking up this book.

Hoover keeps her synopses vague for a reason, partly because of her signature plot twists. The plot twists here were especially great because they were hinted at early on and I still didn’t see them coming. Like Morgan and Clara, perhaps, I just didn’t want to believe that what actually happened in their family could, in fact, happen. So all throughout the novel, I was working through all the tragedy and heartache as much as they were. It was all deliciously devastating.

Admittedly, and surprisingly, I did find myself more drawn to Morgan than Clara. I loved Clara and her spunk, and Lord have mercy, did I love her romance with Miller, but I would be itching to get back to Morgan’s chapters. Her journey felt so new to me that it was almost foreign, and I wanted to learn as much as I could. Like Clara, I was gradually coming to appreciate not only Morgan, but all mothers. All parents. I wanted to call my own mom and apologize for keeping so many secrets from her during my teen years.

Since I love love, I was happy to get not one, not two, but three love stories in one. The love between a parent and child is such a beautiful thing, but it’s hard to see when you’re young or when there are obstacles in between. Being in my mid-twenties, I felt I was in the perfect mindset to read Regretting You — where I understand Clara and her naivety all too well and am in the process of understanding Morgan and her fears. I can only imagine how much I’m going to appreciate this book when I’m older.

Who knows, a re-read could eventually get my current CoHo favorite Maybe Someday dethroned. For now, Regretting You will have to sit comfortably on my bookshelf as #2. You just wait, Morgan and Clara. *puts on sunglasses* I’ll be back.

My first foray into the world of Colleen Hoover was Verity -- which is a book unlike anything else I've ever read. That being said, Regretting You was truly a spectacular book. Colleen Hoover does such a phenomenal job of depicting the relationship between mother and teenage daughter, allowing me to connect on another level to the characters. A must read!

I have never been disappointed after reading a Colleen Hoover novel, and Regretting You was just as fantastic as I hoped it would be. I went in blind, as I think it should be. Don't even read the blurb! Just knowing that's it's a mother/daughter story is enough- dive right in, and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Every now and then you read a book that grabs you emotionally and doesn't let go, Regretting You by Colleen Hoover was this book for me. I rarely read a synopsis so when I started reading Regretting You I had no idea what I was in for. I had no idea how deeply this story was going to work it's way into my heart. Beautiful characters, and a fantastic storyline that I can't stop thinking about!

Regretting You is so much more than a contemporary romance, it's an all consuming love story. A love story doesn't have to be a romantic relationship, yes this story has romance, a love story can be about the relationships we share with anyone we care about, and the sacrifices we make for the ones we love. The depth of the love stories in Regretting You is what I loved about this book.

My hopeless romantic heart is always in search of stories about EPIC LOVE and Regretting You was exactly that. I highly recommend this beautiful book.

WOW! This book blew me away! I would give it a huge 5 stars and highly recommend to others. This book is a mother/daughter duo romance, yes 2 stories that intertwine together. It was brilliantly written and had me flipping the pages to see what would happen next....

Morgan and Clara have a complicated relationship and when tragedy strikes it will become even worse for them.. it will have Morgan turning to a man she never imagined she would need so badly and Clara going against her parents wishes and seeing the boy she was forbidden from seeing. Even though Jonah and Miller are both taboo the ladies will find what they lost in themselves with the help of there beau's but will it be enough to bring there relationship back together and live a HEA?

I am not sure where to start with this review. Have you ever felt fully submersed into a character that you feel every emotion that they go through? That's this book.

The bonus is that you will get two stories that are in one with this book. They are very much connected and overlap along the way.

Morgan and Clara weave in and out together, throughout the story. Their emotions blend and drift. You'll have bouts of true and utter devastating angst and un-justness. Many times I wanted to chuck my e-reader and scream at the maddening unfairness. But then you catch glimmers of hope. They sparkle and wink in-between all the other moments. And then stubbornness stumbles in and as truths are leaked, vulnerabilities are laid bare. Don't worry, you'll have some chuckles along the way.

The brokenness needs to be healed with and between Morgan and Clara. Definitely pick up this book to enjoy this journey as only told by Colleen Hoover... you will not be disappointed.

REGRETTING YOU hooked me from the very first page and I'm not embarrassed to tell you that I did not do anything I was supposed to do until I was finished reading! Needless to say, my husband was constantly yelling at me to stop reading! Obviously he has never read a Colleen Hoover novel because everyone knows once you start there is no way to stop. I devour her stories and everyone of them has crushed my heart and left me crying. REGRETTING YOU does not disappoint. Colleen Hoover, you owe me a box of tissues! There isn't a single thing about this book that I didn't love. It was wonderful, mesmerizing, hypnotizing, heartbreaking and breathtaking.



This is going to be a shorter review because my honest opinion is that it's best to go into REGRETTING YOU knowing as little as possible about the actual story so I won't tell you anything that'll ruin the experience here. At times I was shocked and started to cry.   I kept saying, "How the heck can someone get through this?" There are also moments of humor, holding my breath for the next chapter and hoping for the ending I wanted more than ever!  But I can say that I was hooked from the very first page and completely drawn into these characters' lives.  REGRETTING YOU is not your typical Colleen Hoover story. I love that she expanded her normal writing and would love to read more of these suspenseful, mystery books from her. She blew me away and left me craving more!



Once I started reading REGRETTING YOU I discovered that there's even more to this story than meets the eye. There's an added layer to it that I absolutely loved but that I won't mention because discovering it as you read is honestly the best. One of the things I love most about Colleen Hoover's writing is how deeply she makes me care for her characters and how strongly she makes me feel for them. Deception and pain, love and loss, secrets and truths, hope and redemption—they all twist and tangle together creating another unforgettable novel from one of the freshest and most trusted voices in romance. Finally, you need to read REGRETTING YOU.  It will surprise, shock, impress, grip and absorb you into its story. And those wonderful characters, how happy I am for having ‘met’ them! They will stick with me for a very long time. I just know the same thing will happen for you...

Thanks to @negalley and #montlakeromance for my review copy. I won’t lie, I was very excited about this book but I was also very weary. I had forgotten the synopsis and just remembered that it involved a mother and daughter. A few chapters in and I quickly DM’d my friend telling her that I was worried. Well let me say that I had nothing to worry about and that going in with very little info ended being the best thing that could have happened. Because of this I will try to make my review as vague as possible while trying to express the reasons why I really enjoyed this book.

Told in two perspectives,mother (Morgan) and daughter (Clara), we get to endure an emotional roller coaster. Some parts do seem YA since Clara is in high school but the dual perspectives provides some great insight and makes the book all that more amazing. Morgan became a mother at a young age and now Clara is in high school. Due to some big tragedies in their lives and some misunderstandings they slowly grow apart.

While there are romance aspects in the book what I loved most is seeing the mother/daughter relationship. As daughters/ kids we sometimes don’t realize the sacrifices that parents make for us. And parents sometimes want to protect us from the world without realizing that we are usually stronger than we seem.

With that being said, I think this book would be great for anyone to read but some might be a bit weary because of the subject. I do have to say that there was an incident in the book more than half way through that made me pause. Overall, this book ended up being much more emotional than I thought it would be and was glad that one of anticipated reads didn’t let me down.

REGRETTING YOU by Colleen Hoover is a mash up of a story containing women’s fiction/mother-daughter drama and contemporary romance elements all written seamlessly into a book that I could not put down.

This book starts by giving you a glimpse of two young couples that consist of two sisters and two best friends.

Flash ahead seventeen years, and the four are back together until a tragic accident that shatters all of the people left behind. The mother/daughter relationship is one focus of this story and also the new relationship of the daughter and her new boyfriend, but there are also long-lasting consequences for everyone around them.

I recommend you just get this book and start reading because any type of summary will give preconceived notions which will not even come close to the expectations and emotional upheaval you will experience yourself while reading this book. Even with all the heartbreak and anger, the author takes you on a journey of differing types of forgiveness and love.

This is definitely a book that will stay with you even after you finish the last word.

It's been a while since I've been so engaged in a story that I don't want to put it down, but all that changed when I began reading Regretting You. Hoover's style of writing drew me in, and the characters, their interactions, and their story kept me captivate.

This book had a mix of YA/Contemporary feel, and it was about more than the journey of two characters falling in love (in fact we were given not one but two romantic story lines). It was also about grief, betrayal, healing, changing relationships (both romantic and familial) and the complications that come with them.

Told in dual point of view, we got the perspectives of both Morgan and her teenage daughter, Clara. While some of what unfolded in their situation was predictable, it didn't detract from my enjoyment. The characters had flaws, they made mistakes, they did things to lash out or kept quiet to protect another. I loved the realistic feel, and the reactions of each party seemed genuine and accurate, rather than over the top or unbelievable.

The romantic relationships portrayed within the story were at times frustrating, but I easily invested in them and I saw their growth and development as the story moved forward. I rooted for each couple to be together, and I really felt those connections.

All in all, Regretting You was an engrossing read. I would definitely recommend it if you're a fan of this genre.

Sometimes you read a story that is so phenomenal and addicting that you have a hard time putting into words how brilliant it was.

That is me and Regretting You. As I tried to think of what to say about this masterpiece, I knew I couldn’t do it justice.

Regretting You is absolutely one of the best books I have ever read.

Colleen is at her finest with Regretting You. She writes the dynamic between a mother and a teenage daughter to perfection and realistically. My daughter is the same age as the daughter in this story (Clara) and I so felt for her and the mother (Morgan). They try to navigate through tragedy, grief, and betrayal all while having a strain on their relationship already.

What we get is a story told in dual point of view that is emotional, heartwarming, and sad at times but also put a smile on my face. Love and forgiveness as well as young love are also a part of this story.

This story was flawlessly written, perfectly paced, and had characters that were not only relatable but extremely likable as well. Once you pick it up, you won’t put it down.

An absolute must read!! I can’t wait for everyone to read it. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

“Regretting You” is not a romance. It’s, as author Colleen Hoover said, “label-less.” Because truly, how can you put a label a mother and daughter finding and “meeting” each other for the first time. Or, how one’s true love has been waiting there, just waiting for you to notice.

Better yet, ask yourself how you can define love and forgiveness when they have been rolled us one. “Regretting You” is a lot of things; but we like putting labels so I will put them under “Women’s Fiction.” A check at Amazon showed that the retail giant had put it under “Women’s Fiction” and “Contemporary Romance.”

I disagree with the second classification, but then again, there are six people in the story (in alphabetical order) Adam, Chris, Clara, Jenny, Jonah and Morgan. They all paired up, so it is about romance. But, is it?

You will love all of them; you might even hate some of them. A few will tug at your heartstrings. There are so many what ifs in the story.

What if Clara was never born? What if Jonah did not come back? What if Adam did not move the sign? What if the accident did not happen and Chris lived? Will all six of them find each other and finally “meet themselves?”

Because, that is the big question in this story, which fortunately, author Colleen Hoover answered in the end. The book might have been told via the points of view of Morgan and Clara, but they are not just the protagonists. All six of them - Adam, Chris, Clara, Jenny, Jonah and Morgan- are.

Elijah, Peter, Lexie and Efren might be secondary characters, but their presence is felt. Lexie and Efren are comic relief while Elijah and Peter underline the main characters’ capacity to love.


“Regretting You” is Rated M for Mature due to theme and adult situations. Parental guidance strongly advised due to teen pregnancy.

This story details the strained relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter as a mother’s attempts to shield her daughter leave her feeling trapped. It shows us that no matter how well you think you know the ones you love that everyone has a part that remains private and that it is important to ensure that each person in a relationship or a family has their identity and as much as you love those you surround yourself with everyone is responsible for their own happiness.

This is an emotional story about love, family and relationships that is both heartbreaking yet inspiring. It is about grief, healing and realizing that it is how you handle the obstacles that life throws at you that shows your true character and overcoming adversity will only make you stronger. This story will captivate you from the first to the last page and will definitely make you feel.
